goodmorning I don't know if dehydration causes mastitis, but I had what I think was a milder case last week (excruciatingly painful to feed and warm red stripes across my boob) and I believe that was triggered by a combination of plugged ducts and dehydration. Massive sympathies, I really hope you get to rest up and take fluids and get better. I really wouldn't worry about DC on the mobile - it's an age appropriate game and you need to do whatever it takes to get a break...

TarkaTheOtter · 02/07/2014 12:32

I'm not sure about dehydration but I think being run down makes you more susceptible to any sort of infection. If anything, switching to solids and dropping feeds to quickly is more likely to lead to mastitis. Smile and nod, smile and nod - soon you'll be more removed from their interference influence.

Disney game sounds good too. Yesterday I tried to sort out dd's behaviour (no tv, sugary snacks, more consistent discipline). Poor Alex didn't sleep at all last night so have let it all slide today. We've watched tv all morning and I'll give her anything if it stops the whinging.

Alex is now more pox than baby. He's got it bad. At least there's no doubt he's had a proper dose so hopefully never again. He has hundreds of spots on his head but fortunately it's his scalp that's worse not his face. Hopefully today is the last day of new spots!

FelixFelix · 02/07/2014 13:59

Yawning he's only just turned 6 months! Just do what you know is best. I hope you're feeling better soon. Mastitis sounds fucking awful Sad Also, Sylvie was plonked in front of the telly the whole of last week whilst I was ill! So don't feel bad. I bet she's loving playing on your phone Grin

Tarka the chicken pox sound bad! I hope they clear up soon. At least you know you probably won't have to go through it again.

Naturegirl82 · 03/07/2014 12:53

Aldi have a baby and toddler event on if there is anything anyone needs.

MerryPops · 03/07/2014 15:07

Thanks nature. Hope everyone is ok today, tarka hope Alex's pox have peaked!

Busy afternoon today, just had playgroup and now need to pick up a Mothercare order (big sale on, got Xander a bright yellow rain mac for when he's a bit bigger that makes me go squeeeee), a colour changing giraffe lamp from b&q, and stuff to make California rolls for an Independence Day party tomorrow. Why the f did I say I would make bloody sushi?!

TobyLerone · 03/07/2014 15:36

Sushi is a giant PITA to make, but also delicious :o

Poor Alex, tarka :( What a nightmare.

Hope you're feeling a bit better, yawning Flowers

Spged · 04/07/2014 21:33

Urgh, mastitis sounds horrendous! Hope you're feeling better yawning
Hope the sushi was a success Merry. Just the thought of it is making my mouth water.
We have made it to France! C and I flew by ourselves to meet DH in Bordeaux yesterday and amazingly C was a total angel. She fed during take off and then slept for most of the flight thankfully. I came off the plane half cooked though as wore my coat to hide behind while bf and couldn't take it off for fear of waking the baby. Was really relieved that I took the coat with me as I hadn't thought about how near you are to total strangers on a plane!
Anyway have had a lovely (much needed) family day today and this evening C ate banana porridge gloop, melon, a rice cake, some French bread, dauphinois potatoes and broccoli. She's getting better at this eating maraky!
Feeling really relaxed tonight (not even thanks to alcohol) and have just realised that its been a while since I haven't been almost permanently pissed off with DH. Quality time was definitely needed!

alteredimages · 04/07/2014 21:38

Either my phone is playing up or today has been a very quiet day on here!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, and you are enjoying those california rolls merry.

Things have calmed down here. The mastitis turned out to be just a few blocked ducts so I am back to normal now thankfully. It is amazing how ill they make you feel though, I couldn't bear to pick N up from the pain.

N and I have the house to ourselves having put my foot down about taking N out at 10.15pm to visit family. It wasn't particularly well received but as everyone thinks I am a bit mad and inflexible anyway I seem to have gotten away with it.

What shall I do with my new found freedom?

MerryPops · 05/07/2014 00:08

Loving all the Facebook pics tonight, although the baby is at Dh's mums tonight so they are making me miss him terribly.

Glad you are having a good hol so far spged and that you feel better altered

I am at a baby shower tomorrow then not much Sunday. Have good weekends everyone!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 05/07/2014 11:27

spged yay for lovely hols

altered so glad you're better. Bit of a sing song with N? Get a tray of water (on a towel) and let him splash it/pour in and out of cups? And when he naps, put your feet up!

Had a shitty day with A yesterday, she is pooing like nothing else, and had to change her outfit five times. She was also mega cross. Better today, thank god.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 05/07/2014 11:27

merry enjoy baby shower!

alteredimages · 05/07/2014 11:46

I slept Smile.

N has just fallen off the bed though and has a tiny cut under his nose. Sad He seems fine, pupils normal, cheery after over the initial shock, full range of movement, no obvious tender areas but I still feel a twazzock for falling asleep with him on the bed.

Hope you are enjoying the baby shower Merry and everyone is having a great weekend.

How is A today tarka?

Naturegirl82 · 05/07/2014 13:13

altered if it makes you feel better O fell off the sofa this week and I hadn't even left her unattended just popped her down after her feed so I could do my bra up!!!

TarkaTheOtter · 05/07/2014 15:35

Alex much better now thanks. All scabbed over so we've gone camping!

Naturegirl82 · 06/07/2014 16:12

O just crawled for the first time. actual arms and legs moving and everything Grin God help me!!!!

BookTart · 06/07/2014 19:12

Blimey nature, time to batten down the hatches! How old is O now?

Naturegirl82 · 06/07/2014 19:15

5 months 2 weeks!!

alteredimages · 06/07/2014 19:16

Good work O!

alteredimages · 06/07/2014 19:18

That is really impressive nature. N wasn't even sitting at that age and was just beginning to roll more.

Angelesque · 06/07/2014 20:41

Nature that is awesome work!!! Also slightly terrifying in terms of mobility Grin

Had a nice chilled weekend - so nice to have DH around after the last couple of months of his work travel hell. We're ignoring our end of Aug eviction from our rental place for now Grin, choosing to focus on a couple of exciting houses for sale in our preferred area that we're off to view but will not get as our preferred area is ridiculously competitive and everyone is going over the asking price

alteredimages · 06/07/2014 21:43

Good luck with the viewings Angel and hope you find a home soon. I haven't been in the position of a landlord not renewing a lease but can absolutely relate to the feeling of needing to settle in your own place. Fingers crossed the right place comes along with a lovely seller.

Swannykazoo · 07/07/2014 09:09

Must have been a busy weekend - all quiet! Shock at the crawling - little puggle can reverse into things and roll around but I'm dreading the crawling.
And bedtime has gone up the left. Last 4 days he's fallen asleep as usual between 8 + 9 and instead of sleeping through has woken up half an hour later totally full of beans and not up for sleeping at all. Sigh. Might try us all going to bed properly tomorrow at 8. (Pal coming to visit today so definitely no early bed!)

Gettingthroughthis · 07/07/2014 09:31

Very exciting nature, now the chasing begins!

Glad a is feeling better tarka

I'm viewing a house today too angel. We're hoping if get a bigger house as my current one is super tiny and luckily were in one of those ridiculously competitive areas where they say they can sell the house within 10 days with around 100 viewers at an open day and expect around 7 offers over asking price. So crazy! Not great for buying but I'm looking a bit further out and a house which needs work

Has anyone got any nappy rash tips? Henry is pooing every couple of hours I assume due to teething and his bum/ balls are red raw. He screams in so much pain (worse than injections :( ) when I change his nappy. I'm using metatanium but is there anything better? Not enjoying changing nappies throughout the night either

Pidgy · 07/07/2014 13:02

Hi all,
Been lurking and no posting for a while. It's crazy how grown up our babies are getting!! Where the hell has that 6 months gone?!

Weaning going well here. Tried humus after the tip on here - she loved it and so did DS which is great as he's soooo fussy with his eating but quite happy to eat the crud off his finger from a door lock hole in the floor leading into our conservatory. Boak.

getting I usually found mertanium quite good if you use it then put sudocrem on top. It's a bit more moisturising. Also, lots of air time. Easier with a girl I have to say as far fewer sprinkles, or at least they are easier to contain and don't go nearly as far!

Angelesque · 07/07/2014 14:17

altered thank you - yes, fingers crossed!

getting you're not in Altrincham are you?! That's exactly the kind of market we're trying to buy in - sigh. Good luck with your selling and buying!
