Yy to too hot. M was raging in the car because she was so hot. We have air con but it's such a big car it doesn't have any effect in the back.

TobyLerone · 23/06/2014 21:43

I was quite impressed with the florist's ingenuity actually. The alternative would have been to have taken them back to the shop and I would have had to have them redelivered tomorrow. So 'behind the recycling bin' worked for me :o

beccajoh · 23/06/2014 21:48

Pidgy I'll keep my fingers crossed for a miracle Thanks Babies are so fragile really aren't they. I had to go back into hospital when Archie was a week old because my wound was bleeding, to the labour ward of all places. The woman in the cubicle next to us was 22 weeks and her waters had broken. You can't help hearing everything through the curtain obviously. The poor woman had had five miscarriages prior to that pregnancy. Whilst the doctors were telling her the likely outlook I sat on my bed cuddling my very alive one week old baby and sobbed as quietly as I could. They took her to the effing postnatal ward to monitor her. Of all the places to go! I often wonder what happened to her.

TobyLerone · 23/06/2014 21:57

It's terrifying. I spent a night in hospital at 22 weeks with threatened preterm labour and they wouldn't even monitor me because they said there would be nothing they could do if the baby was born then anyway :(

beccajoh · 23/06/2014 22:01

That far along you're so close to the 'magic' 24 weeks too, although the odds only don't get significantly better but doctors are obliged to do something at that point aren't they.

Vassia · 23/06/2014 22:23

Hi everyone, sorry for the lurking type post here, I don't really come on mumsnet much now that I'm on mat leave and have 2 crazy boys to look after, but this would be the thread I'd be on.

I just wanted to say to getting without being a panic merchant, but I think you should maybe get a second opinion about the temp and irritability. When my DS was a 8 weeks old back in march he was unusually irritable, screamed when we picked him up like he was in pain, then his temp went through the roof to 39.3, then his eyes kind of glazed over sitting in his wee chair. We took him straight to our local children's hospital, he was admitted for a week with viral meningitis and a UTI. I'm sorry to be full of doom, but it just sounded too familiar to not say anything. I hope it's nothing serious and your LO is feeling better, but if not, please go to hospital.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 24/06/2014 08:34

becca that's AWFUL. How insensitive, the poor lady. That's why private/side rooms exist, surely to god.

vassia hello! and sorry your DS had to go through that, and you too. Hope he's okay now.

Behind the recycling bin is quite inventive. We had a microwave left in our hedge (as in wedged into the hedge) when we moved in Nov last year. I was Shock and impressed.

Today we have tried butternut squash purée. Not as popular as pear, but still went down okay.

Gettingthroughthis · 24/06/2014 08:52

Thank you vassia I called 111 at 2am as temp was up to 39.4 who booked us in to out of hours doctor at 3am. By this time the calpol had kicked in and he seemed much better. Still thinking viral infection but I'm booked in to see doctor again at 11.30 to monitor. Seems fine today though thankfully and back to his smiley self. Going to see if haven will let us change weeks unlikely as already missed half the holiday

pidgy sorry to hear that hope it all works out

humpty we have a paddling pool too and h lies on his front on it (not quite stable enough sitting yet) and he loves it. Just takes a bit longer to fill with some kettle water too

FelixFelix · 24/06/2014 09:47

Pidgy how awful, I hope they have good news.

Vassia sorry that happened Sad how is your ds now?

Getting I hope he's feeling better today and the doctors visit goes well.

I feel awful today. My tonsils are so sore and I just generally feel like crap. I'm laid on the settee and Sylvie is on the floor rolling around surrounded by toys. Don't think we will be doing much today!

Pidgy · 24/06/2014 19:30

My poor sil is on a postnatal ward. :-(
She has already been asked to go see her twins in scbu (WTF!!) and asked where her baby is. It's just so sad and insensitive. Another scan tomorrow but I think they've stopped monitoring the baby.

Our family doesn't do things by halves. My poor baby girl is in hospital with gastroenteritis. She's sleeping at the moment but can't keep anything down so is on a drip. So sad for her. Just wish it was me. Some fucktard doctor poked around and failed twice to get a cannula in. Then they got the senior one who did it in one quick go on the other hand. Just love her so much I could cry.

flyawayblue · 24/06/2014 19:47

Oh pidgy, so sorry for your sil and I hope your little one gets better soon.

Getting glad h is feeling better, scary temps there.

Sorry I've been awol, we've had suspected food poisoning Sunday to now so feeling sorry for myself. Now A seems to have an ear infection, poor girl is out of sorts and crys if you touch her ear or it gets wet. Will talk to the gp tomorrow.

Pidgy · 24/06/2014 20:08

Lots of poorly babies.
Wishing baby fly and baby getting speedy recoveries.

Just had a lovely nurse come in and reassure me. Once they've got her fluids back up she should be allowed home. Hopefully tomorrow.

Angelesque · 24/06/2014 21:39

pidgy massive hugs - how stressful. My little brother had gastroenteritis when he was very, very little but bounced back so quickly (he's now a womanising 20 year old student - lock up your daughters, Twickenham!)

Have to say I am shocked and appalled by the treatment your SIL is experiencing. Thinking of you and her and I am still keeping everything crossed for a four week miracle x

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 24/06/2014 22:30

pidgy how awful for your poor SIL, and I'm sorry your wee one is sick too. Hope things improve soon.

fly oh dear! Poor thing. Hope she feels better.

felix sympathies. Tonsillitis is the worst. I get it every other year like clockwork, over Christmas. Bastarding things.

Naturegirl82 · 24/06/2014 22:51

pidgy hoping your little one is getting better and thinking of your sil.

getting hope H is feeling better as well.

fly hope your little one makes a speedy recovery too.

And hope the tonsillitis does one soon felix

Far too much sickness around, Sending get well vibes to everyone.

Spged · 24/06/2014 23:03

Humpty, we had sweet potato tonight too and it went down very badly, but was guzzled up when mixed with pear (that well known flavour combo....)

Spged · 24/06/2014 23:17

Pidgy, thinking of you all Hope things are still improving for your lo tonight.

Hugs to everyone else feeling rotten. Felix, tonsillitis was what my oh had the other week. Make sure you rest as much as possible, even when you think you're on the mend (easier said than done obviously...) get well soon

Humpty, meant squash obviously not sweet potato!

My drama of the week was the dog being attacked by two cats yesterday while walking along a nearby street. It was really horrible as they jumped on her back and wouldn't get off. Even when I managed to pick her up they still tried to get her and as a result my legs were bleeding (scratched through my jeans!) and bruised. Thankfully they weren't interested in the pram and two passers by came to help me. I don't know what I'd have done otherwise. By the time we got away C was screaming too though as she'd been upset by all the shouting. I was so angry.

Pidgy · 25/06/2014 02:33

Sounds awful spged! Were they feril cats?! Freaks me out thinking about it! Hope your legs are ok.

Lara is now keeping fluids down. Well, she had a tiny feed at 11, and more at 11.15 and 11.30 as she was frantic and crying.
No sick!
Just had a bigger feed so we will see.
It seems to have come on v fast and hopefully goes v fast.

Loving the fb pictures. Can't believe the first year is nearly half over! Now waiting for the 'I'm pregnant' again comments. Now...who will be first. Wink
(Not me with my coil I hope)

BookTart · 25/06/2014 06:57

Poor Lara - I hope she's better soon pidgy.

Feral cats are scary. Poor dog!

Not much to report here. The GP messed up P's ranitidine dosage by getting her weight wrong by half a kilo. Not really a problem until I wanted her dosage checked and they tried to revise it down. Back to the specialist tomorrow to see whether her silent reflux is the cause of her constant waking. She can't even nap for half an hour without being constantly latched on, and at night it is almost constant. I fear it is more behavioural than anything now though, but need to check it isn't for comfort/pain relief before I try to do anything about it.

The second baby announcement will NEVER be me pidgy because there is no possibility of any duvet time in the next five years

TobyLerone · 25/06/2014 07:25

Your poor SIL, pidgy :( and poor Lara. Hope she's on the mend.

Flowers for fly and A, Felix and spged.

Next baby will not be me!

Pidgy · 25/06/2014 07:32

Thanks for all the support and well wishes.
Drip out (she pulled it out!) but she's keeping feeds down now. Smiling and seems a lot better. :-)

Just got her back off to sleep so time for a quick cuppa.
It seems she has bounced back like your brother angel.

Jan 2014 - can we call it a sleep regression if they didn't sleep in the first place?
Pidgy · 25/06/2014 07:37

book that does sound tough. She's using you as the hymn dummy perhaps. But good plan to confirm if it's because she's in pain.
Could be a sleep 'prop' but as you mentioned before, they can also want to suck dummies (or mummies!) to stop the reflux. How will they diagnose it?

Hope you get it resolved soon...you must be totally exhausted.

Pidgy · 25/06/2014 07:38

*human! Although perhaps you are singing hymns in your lack of sleep delirium.

TobyLerone · 25/06/2014 07:42

Hymn dummy :o

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 25/06/2014 07:58

Poor Lara, sounds grim. Hope she's on the mend.

And poor Percy and book, stupid bloody doctors.

Felix, have you got penicillin? Hope so.

Spged, those cats sound dangerous, frankly. How horrid!

Fly, how's it going today?

We tried nectarine today. Very...squidgy. Also popular, but she needs a better pincer grasp to be able to hold it and not mush it in her fists of doom
