spged the cat attack sounds terrible, must have been awful to see.

Worst night for us yet last night. I went to bed with a temp and O decided it would be the night she would wake every hour and thrash and cry in between. Ended up crying at dh after he got arsey with me for trying to get him to roll over to stop snoring! at 5 and he got up with her and took her and the dog down the park to get her to sleep so at least I got some sleep. Not feeling the greatest today still though!

Pidgy poor Lara Sad. Glad she is feeling better and keeping feeds down. Great pic! Have you found out if you are going home today? I hope so! Flowers for your SIL and hoping they can hold labour off for a few weeks, even if it doesn't look hopeful now.

I bloody hate doctors who don't check doses/weights properly. This is why I compulsively check dosage instructions before giving anyone any kind of medicine and not because I am anal, oh no!

felix and nature hope you are feeling a bit better and have medication. What is it with everyone getting sick at once, mums and babies? I feel like I was the harbinger of doom or something. Confused

Spged those cats sound vicious and really scary.

I am another one who definitely will not be making a baby announcement, hopefully ever.

toby sorry, I thought the tesco offer was on bumgenius, not totsbots, my bad. Smile We are using terry nappies, bumbles and LL OSFA pockets. My favourites for at home are definitely the terry nappies with the motherease airflow wraps. Really absorbent and not that bulky unless you boost loads. The bumbles are easy to put on and stuff but are surprisingly unabsorbent unless you stuff them, in which case they are bulkier than terries but still not as absorbent. Terry nappies are so easy to fold anyway it doesn't really seem worth it, especially as however badly I fold the terries they never leak because motherease airflow wraps are the best thing ever invented. N doesn't seem too hot in them even here in 40 degree heat.

The LL OSFA pockets are great, especially when going out as they are slimmer, but I wish they were washable at 60. The poo doesn't really come off unless I wash them at 60, so am just resigned to having to replace them quickly.

getting how is H today? Hope you have managed to catch the end of your holiday, or rescheduled it.

We tried giving N some soft carrot sticks yesterday, which he mostly just squished. He grabs it in his fist, then sticks his fist in his mouth. Hmm We tried it pureed after that. When he finally got a tiny bit in his mouth he gagged from the taste and gave me a WTF look. It is pretty rank I suppose.

alteredimages · 25/06/2014 09:58

Anyone know why softened carrot sticks are delicious but carrot puree is disgusting? I would spit out the puree too.

FelixFelix · 25/06/2014 10:02

Oh dear, everyone is ill! I had glandular fever a few years ago and now my immune system is knackered so I get tonsillitis and ear infections all the time. Hopefully I won't pass anything on.

Pidgy I'm glad she's feeling better.

Spged that is literally my worst nightmare. I hate cats! How awful!!!

We had the talk about baby no 2 the other day. I'm not totally convinced about the idea. I'd be well up for it if I didn't have to be pregnant again Grin We will probably seriously think about it once we have bought a house and DP has finished his degree.

Brew all round today!

TobyLerone · 25/06/2014 10:15

altered, Motherease wraps are the best I've found. I bought some on ebay because the LL ones were leaking wee sometimes. They're great. And I'm a big fan of the BG pocket OSFAs. Thanks for the link to the Tesco offer. We bought 3 packs :o

Felix, I'll have your next one for you, as long as I can keep it for the first month. Then it's all yours!

FelixFelix · 25/06/2014 10:19

Toby that sounds ideal. She started sleeping after the first month Grin

Naturegirl82 · 25/06/2014 13:24

Urgh so frustrated, they have been to pick up the old cot but didn't have one to deliver. Customer services couldn't see a record of a reorder. Have to wait for them to call me back. What a waste of a day Sad

beccajoh · 25/06/2014 13:55

Falling pregnant by accident was my solution to the shall we/shan't we have a second baby dilemma! I was duffered again when DD was nine months so there's 18 month between them. I can highly recommend the age gap if anyone is unsure Grin No more for me! Two is enough and conveniently I have one of each, although even if I had two girls I wouldn't have any more. I have a coil and falling pregnant would actually require me to have sex, which isn't happening any time soon as I'm still fairly immobile from the surgery.

secretly I would like another teeny baby really

TobyLerone · 25/06/2014 15:00

I did the same with my eldest 2, becca :o
They're 18 months apart, but only a year apart in school. It's a good age gap.

Naturegirl82 · 25/06/2014 15:18

Anyone else finding their little ones very demanding at the moment? O doesn't want to be put down much and just wants to spend the day standing which becomes a bit of a drag after a while! Wondering whether to get her a walker or a jumperoo even though they aren't recommended by the health visitors anymore.

Naturegirl82 · 25/06/2014 16:49

Just checked wonder weeks and it would appear we are in a leap. That explains it then!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 25/06/2014 17:21

Henry has a cold, but the jumperoo is a god-send

TobyLerone · 25/06/2014 17:22

Meredith has never liked to be put down much, so not much change here!
The Jumperoo is fab, though. It usually buys me enough hands-free time to hang the washing out or peel the potatoes for dinner.

FelixFelix · 25/06/2014 17:38

Met up with NCT people on Monday at one of their houses and had Sylvie in a jumperoo. She LOVED it but we have no room for one Sad

TobyLerone · 25/06/2014 17:40

Yeah, they're bloody massive.

Pidgy · 25/06/2014 18:29

Yes, the jumperoo is huge!! Lara isn't a great fan yet but it does buy me some time too and she's slightly safer from DS, rather than under her play gym.

We are home now which is great!! Lara is pretty wiped out, as is expected. Just happy it was short lived.

I've got 19 1/2 months between my 2. I'm starting to think its a great gap now as DS is so sweet with her and they are starting to interact. He missed her last night and when we got home was talking to her and making her smile. She saves the best smiles for him! :-) If you'd have asked me at the start I'd have said it was not a great gap as having 2 was a big shock. Far more of a shock than going from 0 to 1 IMO.

I would like another but we'll decide completely when Lara is 3 I think. Will have certainly forgotten the sleep deprivation by then and the niggles of pregnancy.

How is the mil situation million?

MerryPops · 25/06/2014 21:11

Snap on the demanding nature, X is particularly clingy at the moment. It's slightly annoying. Not much to report here. Part time work going ok, dreading going back full time in August (when X is 6 months). I'm in complete denial and hoping somehow I can at least drop a day, but we are really struggling financially so I don't have much choice atm.

No talk of baby no 2 here. Dh would prefer to just have 1, I am undecided!

Just signed up to a charity "colour run", 5k fun run where you get sprayed with powder paint at each km, followed by bands and stuff after in the park. Looks a lot of fun and is supporting a local hospice so a good reason to get my lazy ass into training Grin

Naturegirl82 · 26/06/2014 10:09

Can't actually believe it, but someone broke into my grandad's empty house, changed the locks and then rented it out to a family! The family that rented it were scammed out of nearly £3000! Managed to get the house back but it's really shaken my mum up! Sad They managed that all in a few days!

FelixFelix · 26/06/2014 10:19

Nature ShockShockShockShock That is absolutely crazy!

Naturegirl82 · 26/06/2014 10:41

I know felix, I've seen a similar scam on tv but never thought it would actually happen! My poor mum felt sick when she went round there. Thankfully the family moved out in a few hours and were ok with my parents about it all. Feel sorry for them as well. It all seemed legitimate to them as they had a contract.

flyawayblue · 26/06/2014 12:06

Wow nature that is madness, your poor mum and that poor family. Are the police involved?

Pidge glad lara is home and well, your two sound so cute together Smile

Humpty thanks for asking. The day was okay and A was fine. Put her down to sleep at 7:30 and she woke up 20 minutes later screaming in pain, was horrible. Finally got her down near 10 then up at 12, 5 and for the day at 8. So after the horrible start not bad.

Nature A doesn't want to be put down either and any sleep 'training' we did have is out the window.

Impressed with the talk of number 2! Don't think that's happening for a while if at all..

Haven't heard from getting, hope Henry is okay.

TarkaTheOtter · 26/06/2014 14:18

Hi everyone. Haven't posted for a while as busy moving to Ireland! Starting to get some order from the chaos now.

Sorry to hear about all the ill parents and babies, hope everyone feels better soon.

Just wanted to share about terrible sleeping - dd is an awful sleeper, still wakes for something almost every night at 2.5yrs. Didn't nap more than 30mins until she walked. We tried to do everything right - routine, own room (definitely no co-sleeping), no feeding to sleep, controlled crying (made a massive difference but only for a month or so each time).
Now Alex on the other hand, spent the first few months sleeping on my chest. Always feeds to sleep. I go to him the minute he wakes... And, he's slept through (8hr stretch at least) since 3 months. Firstly in his Moses basket by my bed and more recently in his own bedroom in his cot. He also has started taking a 2hr nap in his bouncy chair at lunchtime. I'm seriously starting to think all the sleep association stuff is a load of bullshit and wish I hadn't been so hard on myself first time round.

I would like a third, I always picture myself with three rather than too. Tbh I'd like another soon because I want the parent to baby/toddler stage of my life over. But DH would rather have a bit of a break first. I think I'll talk him round because he understands it has a much bigger impact on my life than his so we'll see. Unlikely to be too quickly because I plan to bf past a year and dds lack of sleep leaves me to knackered to shag most of the time.

beccajoh · 26/06/2014 14:22

Nature that's awful!

Jumperoos are amazing! Need to get ours out of the loft...

Spged · 26/06/2014 21:28

Nature, how horrendous! Just so strange! Glad they left ok. My parents rented a property to someone who then refused to leave and they had to change the locks while they were out with the whole thing being witnessed by a justice of the peace. Hope everything in the house is ok.

Tarka, hope you're settling in well! Good to have you back.

Our jumperoo is C's absolute favourite thing!

Hahahahaha number 2!! Hahahahahaha!!

BookTart · 27/06/2014 07:39

nature that's one of the maddest things I've ever heard! I so glad the tenants left without a fuss.

How is H doing getting?

We went back to see Percy's paediatrician yesterday, and they have switched her onto Omeprazole to see if it helps her sleep for longer, as her reflux seems to be interrupting her naps. The doctor did say that it is probably behavioural now though, even if it wasn't to start with. She was very impressed with how solidly she is sitting up, but expressed slight concern that she isn't babbling and responding to her name yet. If she doesn't start doing that in the next couple of months then we have to go back, but it seems a bit soon to worry about this sort of thing to me. Obviously I've Googled, which I shouldn't have!

DH is on the beers tonight, so it's just me and her today. And she is in a foul mood. Hooray!

Any exciting plans for the weekend?
