Huge congratulations lolli! Any chance you can share some pics of your flowers?

LetThereBeCupcakes · 26/05/2015 19:47

Sorry lolli I started my reply then got distracted and by the time I finished it things had moved on!

DS has HFMD. Deep joy!

glorious · 26/05/2015 20:01

Wow lolli you are stunning! And I adore your flowers. They are very similar to what I had but more stylish Smile

Lovely setting too despite the nightmare last minute hitch

SnozzberryPie · 26/05/2015 20:45

Lolli you and your flowers look gorgeous, congratulations!

lollipoppi · 27/05/2015 09:24

Blush Thanks, it's amazing what a good hair and make up artist can do!

Cupcakes booo to the HFMD how's he coping?

LetThereBeCupcakes · 27/05/2015 10:05

He's much better now thank's Lolli - very miserable weekend for him though as he had a mouth full of ulcers. He even had one on the tip of his tongue, so he couldn't even latch on and have some comfort feeds. He spent most of saturday night just wimpering and stroking my chest. Sad

HFMD aside, we had a lovely weekend visiting in-laws. Had a good chat with SIL re her adoption - apparently it wasn't them specifically that the FC objected to. In their area, the LA are trialling a system of going through approval and matching at the same time, to try and reduce the amount of time a child is in care. The child my SIL was matched with had another couple express interest, and my SIL and her husband won't be approved until and June, and FC said she was concerned about the length of time the child had been in care, so he was matched with the other couple.

SIL spent some time with our DS over the weekend - it was so sad to watch her sitting in the beautifully decorated bedroom, playing with the toys that should have been her little boy's. She seems OK though - they've decided to withdraw from the "new" process so will not look at any more profiles until after they're approved.

salt1 · 27/05/2015 16:32

Hey all

so lovely to read all of the updates and congratulations on all the good news.

my house purchase has fallen through. my decision in the end, but I was not expecting to discover dodgy drains needing to be replaced before another winter. so back to the beginning and £2000 poorer!!@

glorious · 27/05/2015 17:38

Great to hear from you salt. I'm sorry about the house, that sounds dreadful. Are you looking for another right now or having a breather?

cupcakes poor DS, that sounds grim. Your SIL sounds very strong. I'm sure she'll be a wonderful mum when things work out. I see where the foster carers were coming from but it's just so sad for everyone.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 28/05/2015 07:25

Hi salt! Sorry about the house but sounds like you made the right decision - last thing you want to be doing in your new home is major renovation works!

glorious yes they're doing well really, keeping busy to distract themselves. She already has a son who's 17 but due to a back injury has been advised not to get pregnant which is why she and her husband are going down the adoption route. She's been a fab mum with him.

DS stayed at Grandmas last night! She was looking after him yesterday and he was so upset when it was time for her to leave I suggested she take him with her and he was just so excited! Ran off and got his nursery bag with spare clothes and packed some cars and half a coconut, pulled his wellies onto the wrong feet and trotted out the door! Put him in her car and as I leant in to kiss him goodbye his last words to me were "SHUT DOOR MUMMY!"

I'm sure he's had a whale of a time - no doubt grandma will be exhausted though!

salt1 · 31/05/2015 21:12

massive bedtime tantrum tonight. ... never done it before. .. hideous

glorious · 31/05/2015 22:21

Eugh salt hate those. We've had a wearing weekend all round with lots of tantrums and clinginess.

Cupcakes that's fantastic, hope you had a good evening! Smile

LetThereBeCupcakes · 02/06/2015 07:51

We had a fabulous night! It was lovely. I've just been through my diary and pencilled in a few more trips to Grandmas. Grin

Tantrums a plenty here. This morning's was because I put some raisins on his plate, rather than give him the whole packet so he could through them on the floor.

On the plus side, the Gro-Clock seems to be working. Pretty sure DS knows what it's all about now and he's been sleeping in to 5 / 5.30. Still early but considerably better than the 4am we have been seeing!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 02/06/2015 07:51

Throw, not through. Oops!

JuniperTisane · 02/06/2015 09:22

Dan is currently muttering "god's sake" while stressing over his duplo train Blush I wonder who he got that from...

A million small tantrums here, though not really any enormous ones for a while. They mostly last a few seconds, a minute. We had some terrible ones for a while though. DS1 never once tantrummed. They are so different.

I'm jealous of a night away from children Cupcakes. Lucky you. Envy

Salt how rubbish about the house sale. The right decision though.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 03/06/2015 07:53

Jun we have Duplo Train stresses too! It's clearly quite a stressful toy.

Last week DS told DDog off for counter cruising and followed up with a muttered "little sod..." as he walked away Blush Shock so I think Dan's "God's Sake" isn't too bad really!

DS slept in until 6.30 this morning! I bloody love that Gro-Clock. I think they should be standard issue to all parents.

RatOnnaStick · 03/06/2015 11:44

Considering my potty mouth I'm surprised there isn't anything worse yet Blush.

Its been a trying morning all round today. DS1 started the day well by putting the cats food bowls out of the catflap while they were still eating them, putting Dan's crumpet down behind the sofa which upset him and I had to make a new one as it was covered in fluff, turning both the washing machine and tumble dryer off mid-cycle so I had to start them both all over again Angry. Dan just deliberately shoved another girl at playgroup singing time. He's upstairs banging around his cot pretending to nap now.

I'm ignoring everything for the next half hour for some peace and quiet.

JuniperTisane · 03/06/2015 11:45

Oops. Me again up there.

Tugstonia · 03/06/2015 19:04

Hi all. First time on laptop in ages. How is everyone?

lolli wowsers! Congratulations, what beautiful photos and absolutely amazing flowers! Hope you had a wonderful day Flowers

So sorry to hear about your house salt - house buying is so bloody frustrating, but sounds like you made the right decision on that one. Also sympathies on the tantrums, we're having a few of those lately, it is hideous.

Juniper DD briefly inherited my potty mouth - lots of "f*king hell"s and "for f*ks sake" I'm very ashamed to say... I've stopped swearing (around her anyway) and she's stopped too. Made me realise how freely I swear though Blush.

cupcakes great about your fab night and the Gro Clock! I got a gro clock but left DP to introduce it to DD1 and basically he cocked it up Hmm and she doesn't pay any attention to it. So might have to start from scratch with it again.

Can I ask about potty training? My DM thinks DD1 should be potty trained by now, but while she's been telling us for a while when she's done a poo, and occasionally when she wants to do one so we sit her on the potty or loo for a while but nothing happens, I'm not sure she's totally ready yet. Or are we missing the opportunity? Don't really have a clue what I'm doing so any advice welcome.

DD2 is 10 weeks old now - craziness. She is very lovely and smiley, and so far a much better sleeper than DD1 . Long may it continue!

JuniperTisane · 03/06/2015 20:24

As far as I'm concerned, anywhere between about 18 months and 3.5 years is all perfectly normal for potty training. Girls tend to get it sooner than boys. DS1 was 3 years 4 months when he finally did it, not for lack of opportunity, he just didn't care about being wet or soiled. I'm going to have a good go when the weather gets a bit warmer but I won't force it on him, just reinforce what toilets are for and encourage potty use at bath time, getting dressed etc. I strongly suspect he will go straight to toilet though. He doesn't do much with the potty other than stick it on his head but he is interested in watching us use the loo.

Tugstonia · 04/06/2015 19:29

Thanks Jun. I will chill out about it and ignore DM :) Good point about the summer being a good time to try it too.

AppleCrumples · 06/06/2015 20:55

Have just spent a 'fun' afternoon in a&e with dd1. She fell off a climbing frame and fractured her arm :( poor thing is in a splint and in pain. Horrible to see her fall as she landed so awkwardly I knew she'd done something horrid.

Tugs glad sleep better. I wouldn't worry about potty training too much yet. Dd1 was nearly 3 and ivy is clearly not ready yet. Summertime a good time to try though.

Lolli congratulations. Those photos are lovely.

Salt good to hear from you. Sorry about the house.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 08/06/2015 08:09

Oh no Apples - poor DD1. How is she today?

DS is quite keen on using a potty but still needs to wee quite regularly. Last time we tried (about a month ago) he was fine all morning but then got bored of constantly having to interrupt play time. Might give it another go soon.

We picked up the Playmobil Zoo in a local charity shop for £1.50 Shock. DS is in his element!

JuniperTisane · 09/06/2015 07:22

Bargain Cupcakes! I never see stuff like that. I think I'm going to have to do a boot sale or two with all the old toys though. Someone is going to get a bargain from me, there is so much crap I really need to get rid of, the loft is groaning and I need to clear space again before the next birthday in september.

Dan is in full-on-unreasonable mood today, screaming and throwing toys and being quite unnecessary and its only 7.15 Confused. Roll on 1pm when DS1 goes to his new school for the afternoon and peace and quiet reign for a couple of hours.

I never said congratulations, Lolli those pictures really do look beautiful. I hope you had a fantastic day.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 09/06/2015 07:31

Oh Jun school time already? Is he excited? Are YOU? Grin

I have lurgy. Had it for days and just can't seem to shake it. Hmph.
