Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DebitheScot · 04/09/2006 11:54

yes, they've been doing it in the states for 6 years. I certainly don't have any issues about it.

Here (maybe) is the link to the article on it: \link{http://www.itv-thismorning.co.uk/HealthArticle.aspx?fid=1308&tid=2}

DebitheScot · 04/09/2006 11:55

booh, it didn't work

try again

littlepiggie · 04/09/2006 16:35

soooooooo tired, ds has been up and down for the last 2 nights cos of his teeth, wish they would just come through so we can all get a good nights sleep.

Ponka · 04/09/2006 22:17

Oh dear, Littlepiggie. Hope you get some sleep tonight.

We've had an interesting day full of medical appointments for DS2. A hip check in the morning (O.K. No problems) then an appointment to discuss his tongue tie at the hospital in the afternoon. I kept hearing from so many sources that it was likely they wouldn't treat it but once he'd had a look he told us it was quite tightly tied and would give him a lot of bother. He gave us the option to have it done there and then under a local anesthetic or come back in a little later and have it under a general. In the end we all agreed we would get it done today so he had a local and with a little snip and no fuss, he is tongue tie free. He's even been smiley this afternoon so it's obviously given him no bother at all. We don't even need calpol.

I didn't tell you before but we had a mad weekend going all over London with the two little ones this weekend. They were brilliant for us. We stayed in a hotel, took the underground, went in a taxi and went to a gay partnership wedding in a cramped little restaurant and then a pub. It was lovely. Not too child friendly but I managed to find a couple of parks and took them out in the middle of things to give them a break. I'm so proud of them these last few days.

littlepiggie · 05/09/2006 10:54

ds slept 11-4, feeling a bit better.
Going swimming with him in a bit, loves the water.

tonton · 05/09/2006 19:40

well done for enjoying yourself at the weekend ponka!
Just went through my wardrobe with a friend - so much is now going to charity (doesn't fit ot is just so old and outy of date I can't use it). Time for smart new wardrobe ready for job ibterviews. Prob is I have no cash and having been a complete fashion victim in a former life i have now forgotten how to dress......Plus I now have a bum and thighs that I never had before!

Ponka · 05/09/2006 21:45

I know what you mean, Tonton. I did have a bum and thighs before but now they are even larger and I also still look a little pregnant (tummy is wrecked and I am still going to the blinking diastasis tummy clinic at hospital every month). Get yourself to Tescos/Asda for some cheap stuff. I need to do that, too. I start back at work at the beginning of October.

2plus2plus1 · 06/09/2006 11:15

I am glad I am not teh only one who has nothing to wear. Everything is either to small or too big. Even the stuff I brought 6 weeks ago doesn't fit. I lost about 3/4 stone in retained fluid in the space of 14days when I stopped BF which made what clothes did fit obsolete. I am now trying to loose the remaining stone of baby weight so I don't want to buy masses of stuff.
I do wish I didn't eat so many chocs when I was on bedrest (and couldn't burn it off) .
At teh moment I am using safety pins to hold up the 'big' stuff .
I have to do something though - I go back to work in 3 weeks .

DebitheScot · 06/09/2006 17:05

the only ones of my old clothes that don't fit are some old tops coz my boobs are too big for them. (well ok, my belly is a bit too) I don't mind that so much as the novelty of having a cleavage is still there!

Cameron had his 4 month injections plus the 1st part of the new one today. He was perfect, didn't cry at all!

Xavielli · 07/09/2006 20:25

I'm not doing too badly on the weight front. I have just lost a stone in the last month. Another 2st to go, but it's going well. I have hardly any clothes that fit or otherwise. Gunna wait til I am smaller to buy any.

Elli has really nasty nappy rash today, but so does Xavi, so maybe something to do with a cold being on the way. I hate seeing red raw bums

NattyandThomas · 07/09/2006 23:00

thomas' poo came back clear. what is wrong with him?

OP posts:
Xavielli · 08/09/2006 09:12

Ugh, got a nasty cold here today
Was supposed to take Elli to Oxford to the hospital today but just can't face taking the kids on the train and then the bus. Public transport = not great with a 5month and 20month old! A slight heart murmer was detected at her 6 week check. DS had the same and I was about to go to the local hospital but they are talking about closing it down They said then that it is only heard because GP's don't have infant stethescopes!! I know Elli doesnt have a heart problem, GP said babies with heart problems are in pain, don't grow and don't eat or sleep. Well, she is a champion at all of these! She is a right little bloater bless her!

I hope they can transfer it back!!

tonton · 11/09/2006 19:40

so dd2 is 5 months now. She's been bottle fed since she was 6 weeks but not sure when to start solids. She doesn't seem particulalry starving.

She still often wakes me up at 4am even though I still do a dream feed at 11pm.

What are you guys all doing?

pepperrabbit · 11/09/2006 20:52

I'm still just bottle feeding as DS2 doesn't seem bothered either, he's woken just once at 4am for a feed, but some days he doesn't even have 20 oz in a whole day... and it makes no difference to him sleeping - I do a dream feed if I think he hasn't had enough to make ME happy!
I shall hang on till 6 months if poss - tho do you have to fast track them as the iron runs out???

littlepiggie · 11/09/2006 21:53

Ds still bf and not on solids, hes a hungry baby but i dint think he is ready. Want to do BLW, so i am letting him take the lead. If i am eating an apple or somthing i will let him have a suck, but its not hunger, he just wants to know what i am doing. He is sitting up enough now to sit in his high chair now so i put him in it at meal times, he loves it.

tonton · 12/09/2006 20:59

what is BLW little piggie?

2plus2plus1 · 12/09/2006 21:55

Baby Lead Weaning. Check out the weaning section for more info. Basically involves you skipping purees & spoons & going straight for finger foods.

I was thinking about giving it a try - but I havn't decided yet. I think I would be comfortable doing some purees and some finger foods but I think that defeats the object. It is suggested that it may not be as appropriate for FF - depending on the way you feed them (i.e. how rigid a routine you use). I still have a bit of time to decide...

Ponka - I was browsing the meet-ups section the other day & realised we are not a million miles from each other. I am just outside Loughborough I may have to keep on the look out for a meet -up. Although I have to say I havn't been to Nottingham for a few years (probably before DTDs were born).

littlepiggie · 12/09/2006 21:55

baby led weaning
you give them finger food, or anything they can get in there mouths and let thm get on with it.
its sounds great and so much more fun than spoon feeding.

sunnybob · 12/09/2006 22:32

Hi there,

Ive enjoyed reading all your messages so thought I'd join in. I had dd in April and she arrived 5 weeks early...surprise!!! And I am in the same situation clothes wise...nothing that fits, I've just given loads away, so although it feels good now my wardrobe is clutter free..I've got nowt left to wear.

A quick question...Does anyone have achy legs and feet? sometimes I feel like I am hobbling like an old woman, it is mainly when I get out of bed or been sitting for a while.

littlepiggie · 14/09/2006 13:39

Are you carrying a lot of baby weight still? might be that, I get achy but its from not been as fit as pre pg althought weight is not far off. Also run around like a prat when ds is asleep, and play with ds when awake, so not getting much rest.
Could be poor circulation (think thats right, brain turned to mush already), are you walking a lot? It has helped me walking to the market in town a cople of times a week instead of driving to asda.

tonton · 14/09/2006 17:11

i've had very achey legs and feet. i put it down mainly to tiredness. cutting back on caffeine seems to help as does taking loads of vitamins.

Ponka · 14/09/2006 23:05

Oooh, that's interesting 2plus2plus1! I've never been to Loughborough but have always wondered what it's like. We should meet up sometime, or keep an eye on the thread and join us for a meetup. The guys I have already met are lovely. Or, here's an idea, what about an April babes meetup. Where is everyone else?

Hello there sunnybob. Welcome. I have achy legs a lot. I think it's just because, like littlepiggie says, I'm a lot heavier than I was, plus I'm lugging a toddler and baby round all day.

I bet cutting down of caffeine would help. I've had so much to do recently that I've been getting back into my past addictive habbits in a sort of vicious circle to keep me awake. I've just realised that yesterday I drank getting on for 2 litres of Pepsi Max. Not good. Must stop now but slowly so that I don't get withdrawal symptoms.

Ponka · 14/09/2006 23:06

Oh yes, you've got me interested in baby led weaning now. It sounds fun but messy. Don't they choke on stuff?

sunnybob · 15/09/2006 09:23

Hello,

I'm pleased other people have achy legs too...well I'm not pleased you are suffering if you know what I mean!

I'm in the north east!

Baby led weaning does sound interesting but I have already stood and steamed, mashed, blended and frozen various fruit and veg! I'm trying to be a bit organised as I'll probably be back at work when the whole weaning thing starts! (I'm so dreading going back to work! Anyone got any ideas of how to make it less painful?)

littlepiggie · 17/09/2006 20:32

From what i have read about BLW, they ae less likely to ckoke as they are putting it in there mouths themself, and they will push it out if they are not ready.

(never done a link before so her goes)
