Happy Christmas everyone, hope you all had a good time and it wasn't too stressful - DH bought me a teasmade... the pressure of me expecting a cup of tea at dawn every morning is clearly getting to him - but neither of us has been sober enough to work out how to set it up by bedtime - !

CantWaitForTheSnow · 28/12/2006 14:00

Wahey! dd crawled backwards on Christmas day.

EniDeepMidwinter · 28/12/2006 15:58

Love the 'mad, dandelion hair' . Weighed the Boo today and she weighs 9kgs exactly - she likes her food. Tonights tea was curry and pizza .

Happy New Year everyone and to all our los

DebitheScot · 02/01/2007 13:57

Happy new year everyone.

So did you all have a good Christmas? Ours was a bit weird. DS caught the sickness and diohrea (sp?) bug from somewhere and was projectile vomitting all our my dhs aunties house on the Saturday before Christmas. Then was sick again in the middle of the night on Christmas eve/day. Then everyone else got ill. Dh and his dad spent most of Christmas day in bed which upset them both quite a lot (dh said he had a little cry when we went from my sil house where we were staying up to their aunties to open all the presents).
Dh didn't seem bothered by it though, he was sick one minute then laughing in the bath the next.
Its taking a long time for his 'runny poo' to clear up though but I think we're getting there now.

DH back to work today and the house seems very quiet with just the 2 of us here (esp atm as he's asleep), we've seem so many people over the last 2 weeks and we're all shattered. It was good though (apart from the spewing)

Homsa · 02/01/2007 20:04

Happy new year everyone!

We've just returned from a week at my parents' house, where DD learnt to crawl!!! All of a sudden, she's turned from this mostly grumpy, sedentary baby into a content, crawling one, it's like a switch has been flicked! I'm a bit shellshocked to be honest, before Christmas I could leave her anywhere and she was safe, and now I can't take my eyes off her for one minute, as she'll immediately make a beeline for sockets, choking hazards and power cords... It's DS's toys with small parts that I'm most worried about, I just don't know how to confine them to his bedroom. Anyone bought a playpen? Is it worth getting one?

Mealtimes are still a struggle for us (thanks for the ideas sunnydevon, have tried looking a bit more enthusiastic and eating her food, but tbh nothing really helps if she doesn't want it). At least we've got a few staple foods now that aren't normally refused (yoghurt, cereals and banana), and I usually resort to those when I've had no luck with my lovingly prepared meals...

NattyandThomasandBumpandSanta · 03/01/2007 01:30

hi guys.
i have had the worst new year ever.
thomas has been really sick, unable to hold anything down for like 3 days. seems he has picked up this bug thats going around (sickness/diareeh) feel for you debit . he finally had a bottle this evening, and has kept it down so far thankfully. needless to say i have not slept for 3 nights, and completly missed new year with all the room pacing and crying.

feeling really emotional today, my friend told me she was coming round tomorrow to help me catch up on housework due to tom being so ill, she said i was pregnant and doing to much already so she was coming over wether i liked it or not. mad me cry .
it was my 21st last wed, spent it in pizza hut discussing babies/pregnancy with a couple of girly mates. it was actually one of my best birthdays since i was a nipper!

glad everyone has had a good xmas, i am 18 weeks now.. and have my booking in appoint on the 6th, and a 20 week scan on the 12th. u guys will be the first to know if i am having a boy or a gurl (next to dp!)

wedding day is drawing closer and am starting to get nervous. still waiting for my gown, have be assured its on its way, delayed due to the holidays.

well thats about it for me, baby is moving alot, really dosnt like any pressure on my tummy else it tells me off!

night all

Sorry to hear about those who had LOs that were ill over the holiday period.

It's been an uneventful Christmas and New Year as we're skint from us having a baby and me not working.

The only eventful thing that happened was that I hosted my first Christmas dinner for my ILs and cooked my first turkey. Not sure I'll do that again.

TisTheSeasonForSnow · 03/01/2007 16:04

My DS was sick for the entire xmas period too... conjuctivitis, sickness & Diahorrea, and a stinking cold... i was at my wits end. However he's better now and from his first day of feeling good he crawled and is now into every thing!

Havent seen this thread before (looking with my eyes shut again!) great idea!

littlepiggie · 03/01/2007 20:08

hi all, not cought up on the whole thread, sorry to be rude, but to tired and still got to go amd wash up..

So glad chrismas and new year are over, it has been one thing after another, (long story). Bit worried as have first scan in the morning and the way things are i dont know if i could cope with anything been wrong.

On a poative, ds is now crawling, so a bit calmer, untill he wants to stand, or cant move fast enough, although its the oddest crawling i have ever seen, i knee and one foot.

NattyThomasandBump · 06/01/2007 21:32

bump.. where is everyone?

angelhunter · 06/01/2007 23:07

Little piggie my dd is doing that crwaling as well as the more normal(??)kind!!!
She is also now clapping hands which she learnt on Christmas day and waving byebye learnt just before New Years. She now does them both all the time especially if another baby is getting fussed over - like look what I can do he/she can't do this!!

CantWaitForTheSnow · 07/01/2007 00:17

Dd learnt to clap her hands together over Christmas. She has spent all day pulling herself up to standing then sitting down again. Time to batten down the hatches I think.

SlightlyMadScientist · 07/01/2007 21:42

Christ I just tried scrolling down to my last message and struggled to find it.

Congrats LP & NTB (not sure if I have posted that it has been so long)

XMas was not too bad. DD3 had a mild tummy bug (and at NY) but after last time this was nothing and easy to cope with.

She is starting to get really mobile (but not crawling yet). She can swivel on her belly and roll around to intentionally get from A to B - which was a nightmare at XMas when the floor was covered with stuff she couldn't have.

She will eat absolutely anything we put in front of her as long as it is not too bland.

We always knew she was placid and easy going - but at NY when we stayed in 3 beds in 4 nights everyone commented on how 'you wouldn't know she was there'. We actually went 24hrs without her crying (as long as you respond to her shouting at you . She was then very unsettled for a couple of days just to teach us!!!

DP is putting all our baby stuff out for car booting which basically means she is our last-unless we get lucky with an 'accident' !!!

NattyThomasandBump · 08/01/2007 17:22

tom still throwing up. may take him back to doctors as has been 10 days now.

mellownomore · 08/01/2007 21:07

Hello everyone,

I'm guilty of not being around for a while as well. I'm just coming out of my post-holiday blues. I just found out today that I start Thursday on a 3-month contract role. For those of you who have gone back to work and are still bf, how many times are you nursing a day?

Are your dc on 3 square meals as well? Dd has lunch and dinner. I've been a bit lazy with starting her on breakfast. I wanted her to have cereal with breast milk but I didn't get round to expressing until two days ago.

I got duped into buying this "baby cereal" which is actually just souped up baby rice.

I'm actually looking forward to going back to work and talking to adults all day long rather than having a monologue with myself all day long but I'm also feeling really guilty about leaving dd. Did any of you feel the same when you went back to work?

Phew! What a long post. I guess I'm trying to make up for not posting for 2 weeks.
