Found another trick to get savoury food inside him. Wasn't too keen on mushed up spagbol today so I gave him bread and every time he put the bread near his mouth and opened wide I sneaked the spoon in front of the hand holding the bread. Was maybe a bit cruel but quite amusing and satisfying when I won!

angelhunter · 09/12/2006 01:55

DD is getting the fisher price animal train with two extra carriages for Christmas, it moves and plays music and the animals all come out and do things as well, plus theres moving things on the carriages. Also the additional carriages are pull along toys as well, so should get moneys worth out of them.

pepperrabbit · 09/12/2006 11:40

Morning ladies, I'm in christmas denial at the moment so I thought I'd cheer myself up by asking controversial questions...
Anyone thinking about having another sproglet yet??
And remember, not answering is the same as saying "yes"
tee hee.
Pepper wanders off to torment her other post natal thread.

SlightlyMadSanta · 09/12/2006 16:33

Pepper - I would LOVE to be PG again. I would LOVE to give birth again. Its just a shame I don't actually want another child at the end of it all (and I think DP would have kittens LOL)

SlightlyMadSanta · 09/12/2006 17:39

(Kind of hoping for an accident actually)

Homsa · 09/12/2006 19:57

I'd love to have a third child. I think. It would have to be a year old to start with. And sleeping through the night obviously.

Just the thought of going through 9 months of pregnancy and a cs at the end makes me shudder though...!

You're mad to want to do that again!!!

WhenPonkagotstuckupthechimney · 09/12/2006 21:46

Oooh no. That's it for me. Two is all I ever wanted. I have to admit to wanting a girl but I don't think that's a good reason to have another. DH has also said that if I even give a hint that I'm interested in a third he'd be staight off for the snip I don't think I could go through another birth again. They were both very traumatic, if I'm honest. I'm just not made for straightforward ones, it seems.

pepperrabbit · 09/12/2006 22:29

I knew that would pull you all out of the woodwork
See, i do want another one, though DH can't see the point of having 3, cos he's one of two, but I'm one of four, so our 2 just don't quite seem enough somehow. But then there's the whole pregnancy thing, giving birth thing, running a zoo thing....
And - and this is the bit I have to be strong about - if we're going to have another one I'd quite like to get it over and done with really but the thought of 3 under 4 is quite terrifying!
Deary me, this post reads like a maths quiz.

mellowchristmas · 10/12/2006 10:59

I want another one, but Iike Homsa, I don't fancy being pg again and going into labour (mine was traumatic, I seriously thought I was going to die).

I also have really bad eczema after having dd and I have a friend who's the same and she says it gets worse with the second one, so I'm certainly not looking forward to that plus I'm getting closer to 40 by the day, so . . . [wistful emoticon]

DebitheScot · 10/12/2006 12:55

I do want another one but not yet. Although I was thinking that if we were to get pg in a couple of months there would be an 18month gap between them and that isn't exactly too unusual. I think I want about 2 1/2 year gap but I don't really know. If an accident happened i wouldn't be too upset, just a bit scared as I think 2 under 2 would be hard work.

angelhunter · 10/12/2006 21:50

I really want another and don't mind when, just when nature takes it's course i guess. Also don't mind if it's another girl or a boy. Hubby and i have discussed that if number two is another girl we might try once more for a boy but that if number two is a boy then thats it kitchen closed!!

NattyandThomasandBumpandSanta · 10/12/2006 22:20

im already pregnant with 2nd.. 16 weeks tomorrow. eek!
....so if i say no.... does that make me a bad mother.. lmao
thing is i never have time for sex, so god knows how this happened, if i remember rightly (or not as the case may be) i was drunk, alchole is wonderful for giving you energy after being pawed at all day by a currently super clingy DS.

anyway i tell you what i have had some RUDE comment about it through... ranging from "your mad" to "you silly girl" to "and your going to have it?!"
so this is now the second birthday and xmas with no alchole, (my fav part of xmas!) everyone say awwwwwww

on another note thomas STILL HAS NOT GOT ANY TEETH!! begining to think i am looking to hard for symptoms... new thing is he keeps pulling at his left ear. should i get it checked just in case??

all my love

N&T&B

mellowchristmas · 11/12/2006 09:44

Natty, congrats on the pg!! Dd doesn't have any teeth even though she's been teething for months so I wouldn't worry about it. Ditto the ear pulling too. I think it's just that she just has a sore face from teething but it doesn't bother her too much most of the time.

Btw, I was a really late teether. I didn't get my 1st tooth till I was 12 mths old!! I think dd takes after me.

DebitheScot · 11/12/2006 10:44

Congratulations. I can't believe people have actually asked you if you're going to keep it. Thats shocking!

My friends baby is nearly 1 and has no teeth.
The ear pulling could be an ear infection or could just be sore gums

angelhunter · 11/12/2006 19:47

Many congratulations N&T&B
Some people are just so insensitive and rude, it's no business of theirs either way but to ask!!!

pepperrabbitinapeartree · 11/12/2006 21:53

Congratulations! How exciting, one of my friends announced today that she's 14 weeks PG. I was quite jealous!

mellowchristmas · 12/12/2006 09:06

Morning all,

I'm trying to encourage people to be greener so I've started a green living blog. I've just posted some energy saving ideas for cooking on my blog. Do you have any to share? My blog's here. .

I've also started a thread to collect eco-tips from MNetters for my blog. Please post any other tips you might have here.

TIA

WhenPonkagotstuckupthechimney · 12/12/2006 21:27

Congratulations, Natty! The new name kind of gave it away before I read! DS has only just got his bottom 2 teeth poking through. I wouldn't worry.

DS ate for Britain this evening. He had, 2 jars of food and half a bannana! That's tons for him!

SlightlyMadSanta · 13/12/2006 22:13

Congratulations Natty. I saw your VBAC post actually - knew I recognised the name - but couldn't place it.

On that score DTD2 says she wants me to have a baby boy & DP didn't suggest that that wouldn't be happening .

DD3 still only has 1 tooth and no sign of any others. I wouldn't worry about that too much - I think up to a year is quoted as 'normal'.

DD3 struggles with more than 1/2 a small jar of food at the moment (+pudding), but TBH she probably eats about the equivalent of a full jar if it is home cooked. Need to start introducing lumps a bit here. How is everyone else getting on with lumps?

What are your typical feeding regimes these days - heres ours:

First thing - 7oz milk
1 hour ish later - porridge
late morning - lunch with a bottle of water (which gets thrown away)
mid afternoon - up to 7oz milk
early evening - tea with 3-4oz millk
night - up to 9oz milk

sunnydevon · 14/12/2006 15:20

Hi, I started to post & then went back to work so have wanted to for awhile. I'm really impressed how many babies are moving, mine can't work it out yet!

On average (about 75% of time):
DD - 15th April
How much sleep at night? 11-12 hrs (if she wakes we give dd 20 mins & luckily since 6 mth she falls asleep again).
How much sleep during day (total): 3 hrs usually in 2 naps
'Favourite' food': chewing rasins/peas/sweetcorn and anything soft & lumpy
Dislikes: flavoured rice cakes
What size clothes: 6-9
Latest behavioural 'obsession': Pointing at things she wants to touch. Shouting 'ma,ma,ma,mam,am,am, ama, ba,ba..', hates being on her front for even 1 minute, leans forward onto hands from sitting but can't work out what to do with her legs (& goes barmy if she falls forward), like to grab our hands to move from laying to sitting and from sitting to standing, but can't work out what legs are for when standing either (& doesn't look like there's a chance of her getting balance to stand alone for a good while yet).

On the eating front:
7.30am 3-5oz milk plus puree/lumpy fruit mixed with baby cereal
10am 4-6oz milk plus snack (dried fruit/yoghurt)
12 2oz water in beaker plus large tub veg & meat
2pm 4-6oz milk plus snack
4.15pm 3-4 oz milk plus large tub of veg & meat
6.30pm 5-8oz milk

But if she is poorly this drops to few oz of milk & few spoonfuls through the day. Was 17.2 lb at 7.5 mth (& is between short to average height) & has chubby cheeks so has reserve capacity to eat less for a few days!

On the teeth thread, my dd had one canine through at 15 weeks (the point only) and has a few back ones under the gums - but no signs of any front ones (got health visitor to check)! My friend's little boy was 1 year old before he had a front tooth & now at almost 2 has them all.

DebitheScot · 14/12/2006 16:03

I got ds weighed yest and he's a whopping 21 lb 12oz!! (9.9kg) Mind you it's not that surprising as its just below the 91st centile and he's always been around there.

He eats:

8.00am- 5oz milk then 1 oatibix with 5oz milk
12.15ish- varies a lot but usually something like, 2 or 3 mini fish cakes, few bits of brocoli, half a slice of bread, a petit filous and half a banana. Juice or water from a cup
5.15ish- fruit and yoghurt or something like macaroni cheese (the only savoury food he will take from a spoon!). Little bit of juice or water
7.30ish- 8oz milk

He very rairly eats anything between meals which I'm pleased about. Won't drink any more milk than that but he does get his 18oz and then a bit extra from things like yoghurt and cheese. He would much rather eat finger foods and doesn't like being fed unless it's sweet. Its great though as it's much easier to let him eat himself and as you can see from his weight he's obviously eating enough!

tonton · 15/12/2006 17:16

Having read about your babies' diets I'm a bit worried we're not giving dd2 enough?!
I think she's about 25th centile and was about 17lbs last time i weighed her.

7am 5-6 oz milk
followed by fruity porridge which she often doesn't eat.
11.30 (2 x defrosted icecubes of) savoury (mince and veg etc) followed by a fruit pot
2.30 - 5-6 oz milk
4.30 2 x cubes of savoury mush followed by fruit pot.
6.30 5-6 oz milk.

So does that not sound enough?

SlightlyMadSanta · 15/12/2006 18:07

Tonton - thats not far off what DD3s having - I was worried she is not having much too - but shes a tiddler too (14lb - just below 9th percentile).

I guess we can't make them eat.

sunnydevon · 15/12/2006 19:04

Hi
I thought after and didn't get to post right after, I should have said what I meant by tub, mean Avent freezable tub - size of 7mth jar (not adult tub). Also, yoghurt is normally fromage frais or similar small baby one. I've just read about giving babies normal adult cereal - Debithescot I can see your giving Oatabix, do you recommend this? I hadn't thought about looking at the adult ones but bet they'd be cheaper (and maybe have less sugar than the baby ones I've found!).

SlightlyMadSanta · 15/12/2006 23:11

Sunny Devon - I think we started giving DTDs weetabix from 6m. I have however heard recently that there is salt added to weetabix & I would rather give DD3 added sugar than salt at this age. I havn't checked this claim though - I keep meaning to when I go to the supermarket.

DD3s meals consist of about half of one of those avent tub things - which I reckon is a bit less than a small (4m) jar of baby food pudding us usually half a fruit puree pot (c&g I think) or a chomp on a banana.
