The one I have found is similar.

I have also found some on the shelves that are even smaller than these! They are star shaped and is just a couple of millimetres wide. It's the same range (Annabel Karmel).

oh for god sake I can't do links!

WhenPonkagotstuckupthechimney · 30/11/2006 14:49

here are the stars

DebitheScot · 30/11/2006 15:21

what are they made of it they're gluten free?

I just use normal pasta and give it a quick blast with the blender.

I read somewhere the other day that around about now you should start giving foods separately and not all mushed together. I gave ds spag bol (well it was normal pasta actually) for lunch today and it was all mushed up together. Is this what you all do? Or for something like that would you keep the pasta and bolognaise apart?

mellowchristmas · 30/11/2006 15:33

I bought some gluten-free pasta that are made from rice and corn from the local organic shop. However, this is MUCH cheaper. Mine was 3 times the price for the same quantity. I'll buy this next time.

I tried giving dd pasta with tomato and basil sauce like we eat it. She wouldn't eat it. She prefers her food all pureed. But I'm trying to give her less mashed up food (bigger lumps iykwim) every day.

Missybaby · 30/11/2006 17:44

Hallelluja!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Ponka - those are EXACTLY what I (and about a zillion other MNers) have been trying to buy!!!!!

Yippeeeee!!!

Missybaby · 30/11/2006 17:45

(do a search on baby pasta and you'll see what i mean...!)

Missybaby · 30/11/2006 17:48

Debithescot, I spose you should start separating the food but TBH, I don't think dd's going to notice right now... I'm still mixing together but I'm doing less and less pureeing, just mash or chop now (although the face pulling from dd at this texture is quite something!).

she did well today in accepting more of a mashed consistency. I was quite panicky about giving her the fish in case of bones today!

Missybaby · 30/11/2006 17:51

SlightlyMad, glad dd3's well now.

ponka, if i can remember how to do links, think i will let everyone else know (who's interested) about that pasta too.

thank you thank you thank you

littlepiggie · 01/12/2006 19:41

debithescot, saw a sign about car seats and thought of you, it says that a forward facing car seat does not offer the same protection the a babies neck, and should be kept rear facing as close to 15 months as weight will allow. {min 9 months)

DebitheScot · 01/12/2006 23:09

Mmmm, that's interesting. Where was that?
The instructions for my car seat just say can be used forward facing from when baby is 9kg and can sit unaided confidently. Doesn't say anything about age.
Now I'm confused, I don't know what to do. I don't know if I can bear an 8 hour car journey with ds crying lots but them if we put him forwards and something awful was to happen I'd never forgive myself. Might do some research into it.
I suppose which ever one of us isn't driving could go in the back with him, that would help keep him entertained.

SlightlyMadSanta · 02/12/2006 16:34

It is safer for anyone to face with their back towards the point of impact in a collision as it helps protect the spine. Babies spines are obviously more delicate. Its all based on the physics of the impact. Statistaically an impact is more likely to be at the front and frontal impacts are more likely to be at a higher speed, hence the rational for rearward facing. The only reason cars are built for adults to face forward is for comfort (and so the driver can see!!!).

IMO a baby should face rearwards for as long as practically possible. DTDs faced rearwards until they were 18m.

angelhunter · 03/12/2006 02:06

in New Zealand babies have to be rear facing until a year old even in a car seat that can go front or rear facing.
Sorry if this adds to the confusion
my dd is now crawling forward after about three weeks of going backwards and getting stuck under furniture and in corners so finally no more frustrated crying as she can now get herself anywhere.
Also using us to pull herself up to feet so won't be long till using everything else

SlightlyMadSanta · 05/12/2006 13:41

Its all gone a bit quiet here. I have a few (random) questions I thought we could answer - for prosperity really. Feel free to ignore any you don't want to.

WhenPonkagotstuckupthechimney · 06/12/2006 00:15

SlightlyMadSanta look here, please!

Hi everyone. Sorry I've not posted much recently. Things are so busy at the moment.

Glad to be of help with the pasta, Missybaby.

Well, both DSs have been shouting "Die" at the top of their voices most of today. DS2 started it with a bit of voice experimentation then DS1 (who doesn't know what it means either) started shouting it back. This was very funny for both of them so they've been at it all day

Debbiethescott, I haven't started seperating foods yet. I've started experimenting a bit more with finger foods though. Most goes on the floor but it's fun for him.

Do you think I'm cruel? I'm doing a bit of what I did with DS1. DS2 doesn't really go for savoury stuff and quickly loses interest so I've been feeding him a spooful of the savoury here and there in between the sweet to get it down him . Is that cruel? I don't do it if he really objects.

DS2 - 7 April
Average of 12 hours per night
sleep during day 1-2 hours
fav foods Yoghurt, mango, strawberry, apple
Hates parsnip
size: Just starting to go into 9-12 lengthwise but trousers are ridiculously too large round the waste.
loves to crawl now that we can and sitting and standing (can pull up to standing)
Latest behavioural 'obsession': Clapping (and then looking at me for a reaction) & Following DS1 round trying to pull up on him (DS1 is getting very cross with him!)

mellowchristmas · 06/12/2006 09:33

DD1 - 21 April
How much sleep at night? 11-12 hrs
How much sleep during day (total)? 2-3hrs
'Favourite' food': Anything with carrot
Dislikes: Anything without carrot
What size clothes: 6-12 month, she's very long and thin.
Latest behavioural 'obsession': Being on her front all the time even when I'm trying to change her

SlightlyMadSanta · 06/12/2006 13:37

Ponka will have a look tonight when I have more time.

Love the 'anything with/without carrot' mellow. I am actually tinking of giving DD3 the water from boiled carrots to drink (as she won't touch anything else other than milk) - does that sound mad?

DebitheScot · 06/12/2006 14:00

DS1 - 25th April
How much sleep at night? 11-12 hrs (sometimes without waking up but not alays)
How much sleep during day (total)? about 2 hrs usually in 2 naps (usually)
'Favourite' food': petit filous
Dislikes: avacado
What size clothes: 6-9 mostly but some t-shirts getting a bit short.
Latest behavioural 'obsession': Wobbling back and forward when sitting and doing a slow bum shuffle across the room.

Ponka- ds isn't always too keen on the savoury stuff either, he will some days make a big fuss (unless it's finger food) so I've done the same a few times, sneak in a couple of spoons of savoury in between the petit filous.
He much prefers finger foods although it does take forever for him to eat if he feeds himself.
He refused a fish risotto thing when fed to him but gobbled up 3 mini salmon fishcakes for lunch today.

Decision on the car seat is to use the new one facing backwards to go up to Scotland. Then depending on how he is in it will depend on how long he stays backwards.

How are you all getting on with christmas shopping? What are you getting your babies? I've finished all of it, have done so much more on internet this year than in the past. Haven't spent all that much on ds as I know everyone else will go mad and he won't notice anyway. I'm so glad he's big enough to at least take some of it in and think he should enjoy it. I don't think I'd like to have a newborn at christmas time.

DebitheScot · 06/12/2006 14:39

I take that back, he's just woken up after half an hour and is moaning coz he's still tired. And he only slept for half an hour this morning. I must have jinxed his good sleeping habits. Grrr.

Homsa · 06/12/2006 20:33

DD/DS & DOB: DD - 21 April
Siblings: DS 3.5
How much sleep at night? 11 hrs, but waking up several times
How much sleep during day (total)? unpredictable, can be 30 minutes or 3 hours
'Favourite' food(s): fromage frais, banana, porridge with fruit
Dislikes: anything savoury
What size clothes: 6-9 months, but getting a bit tight now!
Latest behavioural 'obsession': she's forever doing strange things with her hands, like rotating them at the wrist, clapping, doing a kind of "Wind the bobbin up" twirling thing... bit worried about that actually.

I can't believe some of the babies are already crawling, mine is nowhere near doing that! Not pulling herself up either. And the weaning is still going slow, she's eating very little, and it has to be completely smooth. Seems to be putting on weight ok now, though, so I guess we'll get there eventually.

I thought the other day she understood what I was saying, I was asking her to clap and she did it, several times in a row. Is this possible?!

Is anybody still co-sleeping? We are, but I think we're reaching a point where bad or good habits are formed, and it may be time to put her into a cot in a separate room. I do love sleeping with her snuggled up to me, though... I love the fact that I can still wrap myself around her, DS is much too big for that now. Makes you realise how time passes... sniff.

littlepiggie · 06/12/2006 21:03

DOB 21st

Sleep, dont even go there! although is in bed 7-7, what he sleeps day and night is hit and miss, cried from 10.30 until 1.30 last night becouse we would not play, so today we put his cot in his own room. feel horribe, but enough is enough.

Food, not found anything he cant eat yet, he is like a bottomless pit, last night had pasta with chichen and veg, tipped it onto his high chair and let him get on with it.

Clothes, some of his big 3-6 things still just about fit, but he also has 9-12 that are to small, most things are 6-9.

Bum shuffles, normally with a toy in his hand banging things as he goes. Pulls himself up on me, wants to be up on his feet ALL the time. The dog, the cat.
He is on the go all the time and is into every thing.

Debitscot, it was at our local childrens centre.

SlightlyMadSanta · 06/12/2006 21:34

Homsa - don't worry about not carwling/pulling up. DD3 is not showing signs of doing either. The closest she gets to crawling is getting up on her knees - she seems to dig her head into the ground at teh same time so won't be getting very far like that.

I did think as I was putting the tree up at teh weekend that she would probably be crawling before it was time to take it down - based on what teh others on here are doing. I am actually quite glad she is not crawling at the mo.
