It wasn't a playdate. All our kids were at nursery. It was grown up gossip time.

Which I do have occasionally when I pop into town to meet people for lunch up there but it is v occasional...

R was picked up by my mum at 9:30 and returned bathed and fed at 5:30. Popped him up to bed, he went off like an angel but is now awake and hating it so I'm sat here knowing there's fuck all I can do to help him until he puts himself back to sleep Sad And I still feel all wibbly despite a day of reading and dozing in bed Sad

PurplePidjin · 15/05/2014 19:04

He's done it.

Good job I have no Wine in the house or I'd be setting myself back a couple of steps!

L just climbed out of cot. What do Ido now?

Can you take the side off Pikz? If not then he needs a big boy bed, or just pop a mattress on the floor. Baby gate on the bedroom, and rapid return him. Good luck! Chances are once he has climbed out he will keep doing so.

Or duct tape.

Report
Pikz · 15/05/2014 19:46

Yep can take side off, do I need to do it tonight?

Also do I need a bed guard?

Report
Pikz · 15/05/2014 19:48

Duct tape seems easier Wink

If you leave it on thought you may not sleep through worry. If you take it off you may spend a few hours settling him. How about cushions or blankets on the floor and think on a plan? Make sure he cannot escape and get into danger.
I have a foam insert, bit like the dream tubes. I have also used a pool noodle under the mattress. Depends on how much he moves about.

Though, not thought! Tired VQ. Night night x

Pikz I'd take the side off the cot (assuming it's stable like that? My Ikea cheapie is fwiw) and put a couple of pillows on the floor next to the open side. Or a rolled up towel under the fitted sheet to form a bumper. Much safer to roll from a few inches up than headfirst from the top of the bars imo! I regularly fell out of bed till I was nigh on double figures, and carried on sleeping curled up on the floor Blush Also, make sure stuff like sudocrem and any toys with little fiddly bits are well out of the way in case of early morning ranging :o

I've been zero screens since last night apart from calling my mum and texting in sick to work. Am now having a lovely time hooking, have eaten cereal for dinner and am contemplating popping the buggy in the car so I can meet friends for lunch tomorrow (will confirm plans in the morning, but I expect to be fully recovered by then, based on past form) Actually I need to go see these friends because it takes me past the Tip and I can see if they've got a TV unit to make into R's kitchen - they said they'd put something aside for me!

One last thing, J tried to pull himself up onto DH's lap earlier.... Using his scrotum! Shock Poor DH couldn't speak for a few minutes and had tears running down his cheeks. Apparently he had a vice like grip before pulling on them!

Blimey Pikz! That is impressive.

I had Parenting Fail 101 today, took L to drop him off with my mum, got him out the car and realised I'd forgotten his shoes. What a dick. Had to go back home to get them & was very late for work Blush

Currently waiting for the boy to drop off. A quieter night tonight so far thank goodness. He does this thing where he's almost asleep, takes his dummy out and drops it through the bars on to the floor, then jumps up wide awake and says 'dogo!' (it's gone) in a very surprised voice. So tonight instead of giving it back I picked it up and held it, then when he protested said, lie back down and then you can have it back - and he did! And hasn't got up again! It's a miracle Shock

Hi, I hope you don't mind me stumbling in with a question! My baby is 5 months now and I've heard rumours of an awful 9/10 month regression. I THINK all of your babies will be past that point and was hoping to find out if you went through this and how long it lasted? I've got a holiday booked for then so am trying to prepare myself! Thanks

PurplePidjin · 15/05/2014 20:59

Hi Alexandrea iirc the bad spots are: 4 months (becoming more aware of the world), 6 months (gut matures/weaning), somewhere between 7 and 10 months (crawling begets separation anxiety - they realise that Mummy Isn't Always There), walking and apparently we're all headed for the 18m one (not sure what that's about, got another few days to go yet for mine!)

Report
YellowWellies · 15/05/2014 21:02

Alexandra we had a regression at 6 months and then great sleep until the 12 month regression / jags / he got four teeth in one weekend.

VQ oh those poor Crown Jewels!
