Well, DS enjoyed the zoo...tbh, he enjoyed the slides, and the planes going overhead. The various animals held his attention for a bit (he did try to get another child to 'go 'way, mine', directed at 300lbs of silverback gorilla which I'd like to have seen) and I think it will be great once he's older. Not cheap though, we only went as I get a hefty discount via work.

That does sound like a bargain for that number of kids chip, I'd go for it. And make Mr Chip do all the organising and attending whilst you catch up on sleep!

Sarah and Duck is the only programme for DS aethel, we have every single episode. We like it, it's quite whimsical, and the Strawberry Soufle episode is really quite trippy.... There's another MNer whose NN is SarahandFuck so I'm not sure everyone's a fan Grin

Chipandspuds · 17/06/2014 07:12

DS likes Sarah and Duck too - I'm afraid I prefer Peppa Pig! He also likes Chuggington, Peter Rabbit ('Pete Babbit') and In The Night Garden. It's really handy now he does watch a bit of tv, I can cook and wash up!

I'll show DH the soft play website this evening! I think he will agree. It's really good, I took DS to a birthday party there a few months ago and I thought it was a good idea then - even better now I know I'll have a newborn! We've had a joint party for his 1st & 2nd birthdays but I think it would be nice to have his own this year as he knows what it is!

Not sure Seven but I'm sure I read on MN about expressing colostrum before hand and freezing it for when the baby arrives - might be worth checking with the midwife? Waste not want not! Hopefully it means you'll have loads of milk and a good breastfeeding experience...?

I'm in two minds about breastfeeding, so I've decided I definitely want to do the first breastfeed after I've had the baby, and after that I will try to take one feed at a time. I've read lots on MN about it and watched some youtube videos about how to latch the baby on correctly so hopefully it will be a better experience than if was with DS. I'll also have the formula feeding kit at home and know how to make up bottles if I decide breastfeeding isn't for us.

I think DS is more interested in anything mechanical than zoos Northern although he enjoyed watching the monkeys when we went to the zoo on holiday! I think it's good to get them interested in animals and looking after our planet, plus it's a great day out!

mopsytop · 17/06/2014 09:47

Oooh sth to replace blasted Peppa. Sick to the back teeth of her. Will be trying Sarah and Duck.

Chip I'm defs trying bf again this time. But with the proviso that if it doesn't work out I'm not going to beat myself up and spend weeks crying/months feeling guilty about it. Minim is as healthy as can be, a happy sunny perfect bright child. On formula. So I'll take each day as it comes.

Bad head again today. Sigh. 16 weeks on Thursday. Thought they'd have stopped by now. On plus side just a bad headache not a kill yourself vomity migraine.

Figster · 17/06/2014 13:06

Hello all back from scotland Ds had a lovely time with his GP's and cousin. first night wouldnt sleep without an umbrella then woke up at 3.30 wanting to watch football...not happy about not being allowed to. My dad for some reason is now Pawa so he wanted to "watch football with Pawa"

DS loves Octonauts, Andy's dinosaur adventure and now postman pat he went to see the movie with my mum at the weekend and has a sticker book, everything the last few days has been sticker led ....shoes on have a sticker, teeth brushed have a sticker.

Dh is away with work tonight so after work I will be sticking washing on, getting ds to bed then watching Game of Thrones in bed .....rock and roll.

Aethelfleda · 17/06/2014 14:30

Hmm, Game of Thrones. I've gone off that recently (don't spoiler me tho cos I haven't seen the new series yet). The unnecessarily graphic torture/sex scenes are not my cuppa tea at all. It's gratuitous for the shock factor. Yawn (and )

For others trying to escape from peppa, you can buy the whole of Trumpton/Camberwick Green on DVd for about £12 and it's lovely.

NorthernChinchilla · 17/06/2014 20:31

We've gone old-skool too, got the complete Mr Men compilation with the cheerily basic animation and Arthur Lowe's voice-over. My Mum got that with a few others, but it's been a real hit. No interest in anything else yet though. We also got a Sarah and Duck sticker book figster, but DP and I are finding it stressful when the stickers are not put in the right place. And seeing as this is every single one we're just not looking!

Never thought I'd say 'delighted you have a headache' but am really pleased to hear it's not an evil migraine mopsy.

Have got Thursday off as I'm taking DS to his 2.5 check up- can't wait for it, we can feed the ducks in the park on the way home, and just generally chill Smile. He had his parents' evening(!) last night, doing absolutely fine, and a whizz at seeking out snails in the nursery garden from under the plant pots Grin!!

PartTimeProcrastinator · 17/06/2014 21:19

I'm jumping out of lurk mode to wave. I have a lovely swollen face today after having wisdom teeth taken out.

So I'm still with DP following the last drama, DS had a bit of a health thing which meant we've put other issues to one side. He had had a lump on his neck for a while and last time he was at doctors for something else the Gp noticed it and ended up referring to the hospital. So in the last few weeks he has had an ultrasound and some blood tests done but all come back OK and is nothing to worry about, but a bit scary as it all happen very quickly.

We are still slowly doing potty training, he gets it and can stay dry for a quite a while but if he's tired then he gets a bit fed up of it and asks for nappies back.

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 17/06/2014 21:45

Seven, my milk came in at about 26wks with ds2, that wee fun!
Didn't try bf with him& I won't bother this time either, it's wonderful that other mums can look after multiple kids whilst on the sofa feeding on demand but I'm not one of them!

Ds2 is walking now (10.5 months), grrrh!

Part time; glad it was nothing, very scary to go through none the less. X

Aethel; GoT was less titty towards the end of season 4! Still violent though!

Ds1 is obsessed with Nightmare Before Christmas (up until Lock. Stock & Barrell appear, I think they creep him out) so buying the soundtrack to piss dh off in the car. He's started making up songs, which is sweet!

Figster · 17/06/2014 21:57

Good work ptp glad lo ok now. Ds had another wee on potty tonight before bed .....slowly slowly and all that. Grin

Aethel GoT definitely less nudey than before but violence quota still off charts been a few times this season i couldnt watch, was getting a bit bored by some of it tbh but last 2 episodes been cracking.

mopsytop · 18/06/2014 13:27

Unfortunately it turned into an evil migraine Northern Sad Sad Sad Still a bit headachy today but totally copable with luckily!

Faffin · 18/06/2014 15:20

Oh no mopsy you poor thing. Glad to hear you're on the mend now though

If anyone fancies taking their DC to see a west end show check out www.kidsweek.co.uk where you can get free kids tickets for loads of different shows throughout august. We're all going to see the tiger who came to tea. Looking forward to a family day out in London. We'll probably do the natural history museum or something too Smile

My day hasn't gone entirely to plan so far. Came out of tesco to find I had a completely flat tyre. Green flag came out really quickly and put the spare on. Went to tyre place and ended up having to get four new tyres because two others were really worn and the remaining one was too worn to then be in balance with the three new ones. There's just no need! I had the added dilemma of whether to eat 6 magnums in tesco car park or return them to the shop whilst waiting for green flag to arrive. I chose the latter

mopsytop · 18/06/2014 18:11

Thanks faffin, I'm OK now thank goodness! Bought series 1 of Sarah and Duck. Minimopsy is engrossed. Thanks aethel! Way less annoying than peppa. No stupid music!

TheOnlySeven · 18/06/2014 19:31

I've never seen game of thrones

ptp glad DS is ok and it was nothing to worry about.

mopsy sorry to hear about the migraines.

faffin ouch sounds like an expensive day!

I've got nothing against BFing but I've never done it. I tried with DS and DD1 but them being premature it just wasn't possible, I read somewhere that the sucking reflex strong enough to BF is one of the last things to develop. Also tried expressing with DD1 but despite round the clock pumping and fenugreek supplements I never managed to express enough for more than one feed a day. This time I'm taking the same attitude as I did with DD2, I'm happy to give it a try if I go to full-term but if she's born at 35 weeks I'm not going to bother trying.

PartTimeProcrastinator · 18/06/2014 20:06

Thanks for the link Faffin, I've just been on and booked to take DSS to Billy Elliot. I've been promising him a day in London just the two of us (no annoying baby brothers allowed) so that seemed perfect!

Aethelfleda · 18/06/2014 20:50

Oooh thanks Faffin, never seen that link! What a great scheme....Going to book the Dds to go to Stomp (it's fab!)

mopsytop · 18/06/2014 21:11

Hi all. Advice needed... my sis had a baby last week and is massively bunged up and can't go. She's been taking lactulose and movicol (as well as the obvious prunes linseed etc) but thinks the lactulose has been giving her baba wind. Any advice on how she can get things moving so to speak? she's tried all the usual...

mopsytop · 18/06/2014 21:13

It is v unusual she thinks for an ebf baby to get such bad wind and she looked it up and thinks the lactulose is causing it.

fixyourgardengate · 18/06/2014 21:53

Is she taking Iron tablets? I was prescribed them post partum with DS and they bunged me up completely. Can't remember what fixed it. Probably just not taking the iron tablets.

Maybe just really uping the fluid intake? And walking, if she is able. Lots and lots of walking (planning suitable toilet stops as once things start to move.....)

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 18/06/2014 22:01

mopsy don't think this is advised by Dr's but a couple of glasses of red wine might help get things moving.

have dropped into lurkdom due to work being a mad house and my house also being a mad house. Early night for me, so bloody tired and hayfeverey and too damn HOT!

OiMissus · 18/06/2014 23:02

I have also been lurking. ((Waves))
I have nothing nice to say, so I'm better not saying anything. Right?
Me n DH are avoiding having the conversation. You know, that one. (Boring! Again!!? Stuck record and all that. Hey ho!)

Figster · 19/06/2014 07:34

Ready to kill ds this morning he's been up since 5.45 like a hurricane making mess refusing breakfast whining constantly............

Mopsy tell her to try dulcolax it's by far the best laxative

mopsytop · 19/06/2014 08:24

she's tried it figgy! no joy Sad

Aethelfleda · 19/06/2014 09:02

Can she buy some glycerin suppositories from the chemist; I think a pharmacist can sell those over the counter?
Might just help... Or chat with her Gp about upping the movicol? I'm not sure how lactulose could affect her bub indirectly though, it's only a non digestible sugar.there's no "drug" in it!

Aethelfleda · 19/06/2014 09:04

Having said that, though, I remember some friends swearing that certain foods didn't "agree" with their LOs while BFing, maybe it's similar....

mopsytop · 19/06/2014 10:36

Thanks all!

I finally have a little bump and now look pregnant rather than just podgy. But I also have four MASSIVE spots Sad Sad Sad Sad
