Sky has been down to theatre and back up on ward now. Scariest moment in my life as she was gassed to sleep, wriggled like she was convulsing, eyes rolled back in her head and head all floppy :(
surgery went well tho and she is now sleeping. x

Faffin · 10/06/2014 13:39

Really pleased to hear it went well queen, she'll bounce back in no time. Been through that with DD a few times, it really is the most awful thing. My only aim is to hold it together and act cheerful until she's under, and then let the tears flow!

NorthernChinchilla · 10/06/2014 19:25

I was 21 when I had my tonsils out Queenie, and my Mum still went all wobbly...she had to be carried out of the operating theatre when I had my teeth out at 11 though! Hope Sky's feeling OK, and it's great they're getting her tonsils out now.

Good to see you on thread though, how're you getting on?

Lovely news about your sister mopsy, hope your sis and niece are doing well. And don't worry, you'll look back in about four months time and wish you just had the small and very slightly wobbly bump Wink. I'm sure you don't look fat, but that 10-18 weeks period is the top time for is-she-or-isn't-she-can't-tell for nearly all pregnant women.

Am loving the pleasant weather, plus the fact that one boss is on leave and the other (sadly) has had to call in sick as his back has gone, so there's a slight summer holiday feeling to the Office.

DS is currently being bathed, having gotten hold of a tub of lemon lip balm and applied it liberally to his legs....!

mopsytop · 10/06/2014 20:34

Thanks Northern, I do look rather podge though. My bum seems to be much bigger! Heigh ho.

Just got sparkles in my eyes. Low BP I guess. Just did two full day training days for the higher ed teacher training PGCert we have to do. Exhausting. Made me feel much more empathy for bored looking students!!

OiMissus · 10/06/2014 21:26

Hello lovely thread ladies, I am in the outskirts of Zurich, and have just enjoyed a shot of vodka over a scoop of lemon ice cream and a scoop of lime sorbet. #livingthedream
Wink
I am feeling well podge, and I have no excuse Mopsy!
One reason I am dying to get pg, two actually, 1. I have an excuse to have podge, 2. I have a chance to be the slimmest I have ever been again by breast-feeding, but this time I will not waste it!! I will keep it!
Argh! Am sure I'm not pg.
That means I'll have to do the sex thing with DH again for two weeks. This time with more conviction!
Confused

QueenofClean1 · 10/06/2014 21:26

Faffin I did really well till 3:30 this afternoon but seeing my baby all drugged up and dozy and not her usual live wire self and getting flashbacks of theatre ordeal I got very overwhelmed and just burst into tears. Thankfully Sky was asleep tho. DH arrived at 4pm with Darcie and I asked him to do the night shift with her as I just didn't want to be in the hospital anymore - overwhelmed and OCD not a good mix. He was very understanding and he is there now with her. She is attached to a SATs monitor for the night and will phone me if any major issues and I need to be there. Am home and had a shower so just need to take my tabs and going to try and get some sleep.

Northern, thanks for asking I'm okay just RL getting in the way and trying to get my OCD under control with higher dose of citalopram. Darcie is being really good and helpful which is a massive help to me and less of a stress factor now.

Mopsy congrats on the bump too Smile

QueenofClean1 · 11/06/2014 10:16

Little Lady Sky is home Smile

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 11/06/2014 16:30

Marking place, again!
Glad Sky is home Queenie, how is she?

Congrats to your sister Mopsy!

I have a clear bump & have been in maternity stuff since 7wks.

What's everyone upto for Father's Day?

Figster · 11/06/2014 19:07

How are you DrF? How far gone now? U told people yet?

Glad sky home from her hospital adventure.

We all off to Scotland tomorrow I desperately need to get away from work been crazy busy. God we need so much less stuff these days not like when he was 6wo and had multiple changes of clothes bottles, nappies etc.

Dh and I had a bit of a contraceptive accident last night I bet now we've booked Gambia I get pg, last time we booked to go I was already pg just didn't realise had to cancel and lose deposit. Can lightning strike twice?

NorthernChinchilla · 11/06/2014 22:24

Oh God figgy we're the opposite! When DS was three months I travelled on my own with DS on the train, to the other end of the country, with two small bags to stay with family! Now there's the buggy, travel cot, booster seat (it was the high chair up to a few months ago) loads of clothes, toys, books, cutlery, crockery, bottles my own body weight in dummies....

Ummmm, and yes, it sounds just like the sort of completely unlikely thing that does in fact happen. Get thee to a pregnancy stick in two weeks or so.

Glad to hear you're doing OK Queenie, and delighted to hear that Sky is home. Do they still ask that you eat lots of really harsh things like crisps and french stick post-tonsillectomy?

I can't compete Oi, I've been in a pleasantly dingy pub in the town centre with work colleagues, it's actually been a really really nice night...and then came home to spag bol Grin DP's not so bad really!

QueenofClean1 · 12/06/2014 12:00

Yes all things rough and sharp..crisps, toast etc. although she can still have all the yummy things like ice cream and jelly.

Aethelfleda · 12/06/2014 20:06

Ok, this is a weird question but WHY do they have to ear crisps and toast? Wouldnt that be harder to do while things are healing? Explain the rationale but I'm stumped! I thought it was jelly and icecream all the way!!....

I love midsummerness APART from the kids never getting to bed part of it. Just swallows any hope of DH and I getting some evening together :(

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 12/06/2014 20:14

13(ish) weeks Fig, told people (and facebook) earlier this week!

Hope Scotland is relaxing...would pg be a bad thing now?
I booked a holiday knowing I'd just had a mc & wouldn't be pregnant (rocked up with 6wk old baby) & this time around we weren't going to try anymore so with Northen on this one!

Northen, pub sounds good & someone elses homecooked spag bol, delish!

^What Aethel asked! Last thing I want with a sore throat is something that isn't ice cream!

QueenofClean1 · 12/06/2014 20:53

Aethel When they are completely drugged up after surgery and for roughly 48 hrs after being pain free they advise to eat all the rough and sharp stuff to help get rid if all the gunk at back of throat which is left over from surgery. She has been eating ice cream and ice pops too tho.

Figster · 12/06/2014 21:41

Fuck it I think I'm unwell all day I've felt bloated and "heavy" now everytime I go loo and wipe (sorry tmi) I've got brown discharge. My last period ended only last Thursday it's not that even with the contraceptive mishap can't believe it's anything like that. Google don't help look up between period brown discharge vas bloating and it's all cancer cancer cancer doom stories Shock have never had this before Hmm.

Ds finally asleep little Rotter refused to go bed tonight winding everyone in house up.

NorthernChinchilla · 13/06/2014 20:52

Yep, that's it aethel, they cauterise bits, and so get you to eat all the sharp stuff to slough off the dead skin....YUM!!

How's she doing Queen?

Aethelfleda · 14/06/2014 08:23

Ewwww!!! Thanks for the info :)

It's too hot... And our house is covered in scaffolding from our roofing work (all done now fortunately) so can't open most of the windows. Argh!

mopsytop · 14/06/2014 08:29

You okay now figgy? Did you go to GP?

Figster · 14/06/2014 11:53

Mopsy it's stopped after 2days might call them when back from Scotland

It's pissing down with rain here ds gone to see postman pat with my mum and his cousin, sure to be carnage

Aethelfleda · 14/06/2014 13:15

Glad it's stopped figgy, it may have just been a bit of irritation on your cervix or something. Make sure you get it checked out if it happens again or you feel unwell.

Argh, now it's incredibly close here. dH spent an hour getting the washing out only for it to tip down all over it...

NorthernChinchilla · 14/06/2014 15:18

Glad you're feeling a bit better figgy, let's hope it's a one off.

It's really muggy here too aethel, and I took DS into town and it drizzled lightly all the way. Got rather damp, though was smiling (as a hard northern lass wearing nowt but a vest...and trousers obviously, but you know what I mean!) to see people wandering about in full macks/with umbrellas. Pah! Softies Wink

We're having a jobs day today, DP is somewhat behind on his chores so has mown lawn, hoovered (and Bob the house looks different) and ironed, and I've done the finance books... Doing the shopping later and touching up some paintwork.
Tomorrow though, we're going to take DS to the zoo for his 'half' birthday, and it's a happy coincidence it's Fathers' Day too, can't wait Smile! Anyone else doing the half birthday thing?

Chipandspuds · 16/06/2014 11:00

Hi everyone,

Not done the half birthday yet Northern but keeping it as an option for future years for DS if he wants.

Thinking about booking DS a birthday party at a local children's gym, it's the most enormous soft play place I've ever seen it's £135 for 20 children + 4 adult instructors to entertain them and show them around the equipment. It is expensive but I think this year they will get quite excited about their parties and know what it's all about! Plus I will have a 1 month old and want something easy!

DH has been away this weekend so looking forward to having him back this evening! I've had a successful weekend with DS though, we went to the carnival on Saturday, church & then Tesco on Sunday and got a play date and then playgroup today. I've even managed to spring clean the flat and get DS back into a good bedtime routine! 7pm bedtime again now as he was getting very ratty in the mornings and lots of tears at bedtimes.

Aethelfleda · 16/06/2014 19:02

Aethelfleda · 16/06/2014 19:05

Sarah and Duck.

We have finally found an alternative to Peppa that is slightly less irritating to watch... Hooray!

That sounds quite reasonable chip, it would be more like £180 around our way... Though it's cheaper if you don't have the run of the place. Totally agree about it being an easier option with a newborn too...

TheOnlySeven · 16/06/2014 19:47

Glad Sky is home queen, how is she now?

TMI but I'm producing milk already. I know it's normal in pregnancy but not for me, I've never produced so much as one drop before giving birth. Do you think it means anything?
