Ahh glad first day went well Faffin!

We are staying with my brother for a week. I have de-stressed after a long afternoon at the beach with DS, DH and DM. DM has cheered up a lot now she is back home and is on antibiotics for an infection! Fingers crossed this is the last one!

DS is loving the beach, I feel sad that we don't live near a beach...Ruislip Lido is as good as it gets! He's been in and out of the sea, crab hunting in the rock pools, building sandcastles, digging holes, looking at stones and shells Smile I used to spend every day of the summer holidays at the beach with DM and DB. DB is desperate to buy DS a rubber dinghy, but I think he'd be better off waiting until next year. DB used to take me out and threaten to tip me out over the seaweed...mean!

Figster · 05/09/2014 13:49

Chip ds loves the beach too we off to paignton/brixham next weekend so he'll be happy.

Booked him in at preschool Thursdays from Jan they couldn't give us another full day until next September Shock but we've got first refusal on the next full day that comes up. Aim is 2 days at cm 2 days pre school up until he goes to school.

I think I have pulled a stomach muscle carrying him round this morning he wouldn't walk he would then come out the swimming pool feel a pull in my stomach please god not a hernia.

Met dh for lunch the novelty of him being 5 minutes away Grin Sun is out paddling pool filling up and we have pavement chalk to draw with.

DS was completely exhausted after an afternoon out and fell asleep at 4.30pm in the car and we put him straight to bed. He woke up briefly at 5.30am and then got up at 7.30am. Hopefully he will have a bit more energy and be a bit happier today!

It's nice to be on holiday, but I think next year it might be nice to hire a holiday cottage for us (myself, DH, DS and baby) near to DM and DB - then we would have a bit more space as a family, wouldn't need to put up with DM's moods (sometimes she's amazing, sometimes she's infuriating), and DB's house isn't really set up for small children at all (space/cleanliness/dangerous objects lying around). DM only has 1 bedroom so staying at hers isn't an option. I'm not sure if DH would like the idea or not as I think he'd see it as spending money unnecessarily as we can stay at DB's for free. I will suggest it and plant the seed and see what happens next year!

Back home on Sunday evening, then day off on Monday. It's the Chinese Mid-Autumn Moon Festival on Monday so we're off to FIL's for dinner.

Who's starting a new thread then? Get on with it, there are tantrums to document!.....

pluCaChange · 07/09/2014 10:34

Tantrums don't sound good!

Paddling and holiday talk, however, do! Smile

DS and I seem to have had food poisoning this weekend, so much retching for us, "stepping up" for DH, neglect for poor DD... then laundry for me - wheeeee!

DH is now at the vacated building site house, having sacked tge builder. Hopefully, we can sort the damp, then re-start.

There was an article in yesterday's Times about work being less stressful than home for many people. One item which particularly snagged me (like a barbed dart in the heart!) was: "You prefer your work persona." Does anyobe else feel she hates herself at home? Recent vomming aside, I'm tired, irritable and feel mean. A lot. I'm sooooo looking forward to preschool on Monday!

OiMissus · 07/09/2014 17:03

"Do I prefer my work persona?"
I don't think I'm that different. Dealing with tantrums aside, not many people at work deliberately press all my buttons, smack me, and then wail with floods of tears.
Work is definitely much easier. I don't know how nursery staff deal with it. Although the toddlers are famously angels for others, and just torture the parents.
I was ill yesterday. The agonising stomach cramps came back (I got an ambulance ride last time and lots of morphine, 2 yrs ago, when Ali was 5 wks old). I thought I was going the same way.
They never found out what it was. I remembered my gp gave me a 'script just in case they came back . I found it. Pain was truly unbearable. Within 10 mins of taking the pills, the cramps had gone. Grin
I went to bed at 7:30pm. !!
I still feel tender today, but otherwise fine.
I think I know what it is, although it seems very odd. I'll try and see my GP tomorrow.
It's been glorious weather today. I've been sunbathing on the balcony all afternoon.
Ali has been with DH all weekend. Hmm
All yesterday's cleaning and organising plans went out of the window due to illness. And today, still taking it easy, and it's far too glorious to be inside!

pluCaChange · 07/09/2014 19:58

Oh, no, Oi! Have you got enough pain killers to keep you going!

NorthernChinchilla · 07/09/2014 21:14

^^ that's the new thread folks

Been utterly beautiful here too. After working yesterday, I cooked dinner and we watched Doctor Who, and then found the 'Cheesiest Pop Hits of the 90s' or similar, and ended up watching bloody Aqua, Britney, S Club, Backstreet Boys and similar for hours Blush It just kind of pulled me in, but we drew the line at Peter Andre...

Walked into town three times today, firstly to buy lunch and food for the chins, then with a friend, and then I treated DH, me and DS to pizza for dinner at a restaurant- was too nice a day to waste, and so lovely to be out.

All sounds hideous Oi, glad it's under control, and do update if you get to see the GP. And yes, they're like Hell's Angels on crack with us, and sodding cherubs with anyone else especially if there's an ice lolly in it for them Hmm

And sorry to hear you've been so ill too Plu, any idea what caused it?

pluCaChange · 07/09/2014 21:29

Aqua, was that "I'm a Barbie Girl"? (All feminists, please see the GoodnessGracious Me team's "I'm a Punjabi Girl" satire, to make you feel better about liking the catchy tune!)

Northern, I think it was just food poisoning, as DH and DD were thankfully unaffected!

Figster · 08/09/2014 08:21

Ah northern questionable pop music is my vice Grinloooove all cheesey tunes
