Ooh, new curtains!

Yes, DS is inna new cast and doing fine. He is currently snoring in our bed, we caved to get him tonstop coming back downstairs for the zillionth time.
Will carry him back to bed shortly.

How's the potty stuff going figster, any more wees of victory?!

Figster · 05/06/2014 07:57

Er no more wees aethel hes back to potty refusing hey ho i have been missing the magic ingredient of tv this week trying to do it upstairs before bed or bath, will try again.

So last night it rained so bad didnt do my 2nd run of week but as that extra rest means i can now walk properly again that is probably no bad thing. Going tonight instead.

On saturday dh and i are going to lets rock bristol it is an 80's music festival and on Sat we have bananarama, T-Pau, Sonia, Midge Ure, Tony Hadley, Belinda Carlisle, Alexander O'Neill, Go West And more. Ds going to stay with cm, the going to circus and he will have a great time. We went last year and it was a glorious day this year the. Forecast is rain, thunder, lightning and. Potentially the worst hailstorm in decades.............great!!! Looking out my wellies today then. It is family friendly. But dont want to. Spend the whole day chasing after ds.

mopsytop · 05/06/2014 15:13

You're freaking me out Northern. If we get this new house will need new curtains for five sets of big old windows (i.e. long, wide curtains)... Eeeekk. I had not budgeted anything like £5000. What kind of price was Laura Ashley?

Ladies with older kids, potty training advice please! Minimopsy has done two poos in the potty this week (of her own volition). She hasn't asked to do a wee though, although she told Mr.Mopsy this morning that her nappy was warm (she'd obvs just done a wee). Not sure if this means she is ready to potty train? And do you start with pull ups or just put her in pants during the day? I am so clueless...

OiMissus · 05/06/2014 23:17

Mopsy - worry ye not. JL will have lovely curtains, but you can probably find what you need by searching places like Dunelm Mill, the range, etc., at least, I hope so!!
Online?
Or find fabric and find a friendly granny with a sewing machine. :)

mopsytop · 05/06/2014 23:43

Well my mum is an absolute whizz with a sewing machine but curtains are a bugger. After the last floor length ones she made for her house she said never again!

NorthernChinchilla · 06/06/2014 02:50

I have to admit I was Shock and needed a lie-down... LA were not much better, they had a sale on so what should have been £850 was £600. Our windows are pretty large, we're in a decent sized Edwardian terrace, but I dread to think how much they would have cost if we'd have gone for floor length....
And the previous owners took all the bloody curtain poles so we've had to spend extra ££££ replacing those!!

Glad DS is OK aethel, bet the toddler plus cast is not a comfy addition to the bed though!

figster I would so be there for Alexander O'Neal, that sounds a brilliant line up! Have fun and take an umbrella.

TheOnlySeven · 06/06/2014 13:03

Those are some seriously pricey curtains. I had some made to measure by next for the new kitchen, they were just over £100. They're not floor length but the window is the width of a garage door so quite wide.

Hope some of you are able to enjoy the sunshine today before the thundery downpours tomorrow. DS has actually been behaving so far today, they've been playing in the garden while I've been tidying up this morning. House is still such a mess though, I'm determined it will be clean and crap-free before the new baby comes!

OiMissus · 06/06/2014 21:04

No, Seven, no. There will be no thundery downpours. There will be sun.
(I'm having a garden party with a squillion toddlers.)
We have blisters from garden tidying. There will be bloody sun!
As for curtains, the window in our lounge is actually patio doors into the balcony. So floor length and 3.87m wide. We've survived without curtains for 2 years. Smile
We were lucky with the rest if the house. The previous owners left made to measure blinds on 9 windows, and floor length super quality curtains on the patio doors in our bedroom.
L.u.c.k.y!

Figster · 06/06/2014 21:36

I've dug out my wellies for tomorrow "festivalling" rain thunder lightning and hail can't wait.

Seriously over tired boy tonight he insisted on going to bed with his plastic fishing rod he screamed and screamed for 20 minutes whether I sat with him or not ......not fun.

NorthernChinchilla · 07/06/2014 08:56

Hmmm... just had DS declare 'oooh, peanut butter', and realised that it was in fact a large blob of poo that had escaped onto the (carpeted) living room floor from the poo-nami in his nappy [bleurgh emoticon]

Mad cleaning operation in place, I care not if the anti-bac spray says not to use it on carpet! And thank feck it's a brown carpet too...

Wow, that is lucky Oi! As I say, they even took the bloody poles with them (and the sodding fuse for the range cooker, I mean wtf!). We prioritised the bedrooms, and got poles there, and used some of the curtains we'd brought with us- thankfully with it being winter when we moved it wasn't too bad. The living room is the only room that actually needs curtains.

Have fun at your festival figster, can't wait to hear all about it Smile

Aethelfleda · 07/06/2014 10:26

I feel your pain northern, our buyers did that last year: every last curtain pole unscrewed, and a fair few cracks and bumps while they did it .....

It's not raining today, oi. Nope. Not even slightly Hmm
I'm not looking outside at the rainy rainingness and damp slugfest at all. No siree. No rain. Honest Guv.
Hope you've got your wellies and a good anorak figster!!!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 07/06/2014 14:10

The weather is grim here. DH took DS swimming while I cleaned. New steam and mop arrives this week, tres excited.

Curtains are such a rip off off! Also try ikea for a morew budget friendly option.

Needs stop raining by nectt weekend. Having a BBQ , and including kids I've accidentally invited about 50 people. I'll be in Sainsbury, raiding the meat section if anyone needs me!

Lashing here too. But Minimopsy is actually having a nap for first time in weeks and I'm just vegging on sofa reading/watching tv. I'd forgotten how lovely this little afternoon break was!

Figster · 07/06/2014 20:00

It is glorious sunshine here ladies my bloody wellies are welded on to my bloody swollen ankles.midge Ure and belinda carlisle were amazing!!!

Hooray for figster!! Have a great time, I'm jealous!

OiMissus · 08/06/2014 16:13

Rain buggered off, kids went outside. Bloody fantastic party! Hooray!!
I had bought a trampoline for.. Ahem ... Father's Day? We didn't build that up due to the weather yesterday , but it's up now.
It's fab. And really tiring! But not allowed on if pg. Hmm So I'll just have to make the most of the 7 days a month when I know I'm definitely not. You could get fit on one of these things. So much fun!!! Grin

Chipandspuds · 08/06/2014 17:07

Arrrhh! Hayfever has got the better of me today - I'm hiding indoors. I've bought some nasal spray that I can use whilst pregnant but it's not all that effective.

We went to a nice park earlier that has a huge sandpit, DS had lots of fun. Yesterday we went to Ruislip Lido, really good fun on the railway there and DS loved the 'beach' and whizzing along on his scooter. DM came with us too and got all nostalgic as the last time she was there was 1968 Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 08/06/2014 21:14

Lido sounds amazing chip, I've always thought they were great- has it been refurbished recently?

We too have been slightly taken aback by the weather- we managed to stay outside yesterday all day, and even ate dinner out at around 10. Our trips to the park this morning were then interrupted by me dragging DS back to the house for suncream, as I could feel me burning, let alone him, and it was only half nine in the morning Shock!
Had a lovely time with friends- we went to a garden centre and they bought various plants as advised by me and then I weeded, dug over their garden, and re-did it- just like the TV programme but on a tiny scale Grin! I'd bought them a plant as well, and so this was a part of her birthday present. She did a fantastic Greek veggie meal followed by choc n peanut butter cheese cake too...!

NorthernChinchilla · 08/06/2014 21:17

Oh, and a few visits to a pub with chickens, peacocks, albino peacocks and various assorted poultry running around much to DS's delight. Plus a massively tolerant thank Christ cat, which DS tried to feed a chip. By putting the chip half in his mouth and leaning in... Confused

So glad everyone else has enjoyed a good weekend too, did it cheer up for you in the end hop?

Figster · 08/06/2014 21:22

Good day here today too picked ds up from CM took him church, park with friend and her 4yo, the plan was she showed ds how to scooter the reality was we carried scooters and they ate ice cream from van. This afternoon he fell asleep 3-5 which of course meant it was 8.45 before he went to sleep.

Catching up on soccer aid now......mmm James mcavoy!!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 09/06/2014 19:44

Glad everyone seems to have had nice weekends.

Weather has been shite. Utterly shite. Poured with rain, then half hour of blistering sun, then rain again. Yesterday was the best day. Went for a trip to a local town, DS threw a wobbly in the restaurant and I had to manhandle him out, then he threw a wobbly on the tram and literally laid on the floor screaming. Lots of funny looks from all the people on the tram going to nearby festival.

More rain today, got soaked on the way to stay-and-play, then DS ran straight out into the 'sand pit' which had turned into a giant mudpie. Then covered himself in paint. I failed to bring a change of clothes too. FFS. Rookie parenting error.

Busy week at work coming up, in fact I should be doing a bit of work now!
Hope everyone has a nice week!
