First thing DP said when he saw the pic was 'oh, look at DS asleep under the coffee table!'
Now clearly Oi aethel and I are all sharing the same child, but you'd think he'd notice that neither of our coffee tables look remotely like that!Wink
And it's a bit like the first few weeks n months after giving birth Oi, you just do what you need to get through, and as long as everyone's fed, watered not lived it's all good Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 09/08/2014 07:29

'and loved' that last bit should say. aaaargh! phone!

Figster · 09/08/2014 08:46

Oi definitely agree with doing whatever works, has your dad thawed yet?

Saw guardians of the galaxy last night very fun and the lead actor Shock

Taking ds out to slim ridge today picnic, wellybootland where he can sodden, birds for dh and exercise for me ......Chinese tonight

Have good day all!!

Aethelfleda · 09/08/2014 08:57

Our coffee table was £60 in tenners from an open-air market on a disused airstrip Blush. It was just before they became popular so the chap was trying to drum up interest.
I bought it for our shared student house as I was sick of people eating takeaways and dinner on their laps on the floor/sofa in the front room while watching videos. This was the "upmarket" student house that actually had a lounge because we increased the rent we paid to cope with not shoehorning another student into it as an "extra bedroom" cos we'd just all started earning and actualy had a bit more money..... 15 years later and it's just as scruffy but part of the appeal is that it's totally indestructible! (Plus I love the ironwork look. Minimalist glass-and-steel is NOT me...)

All furniture is from Ikea, that way I don't cry when DS takes to it with a biro.

Painting day today.."Look mummy, issa duck!"
Beach scenes from DD2 and Tinkerbell from DD1.
Over on the FB, honeylovescake is touting sexy German/Australian wooden home ed montessori toys... £200 for an extremely nice stackaway set of a squillion wooden mosaic pieces/threading beads. Does look very nice and well made. Showed it to DH who commented (understandably) that there are many nice things in the world but that doesn't mean we can justify or need to be buying all of them!!
It is wall to wall toy stuff in our house, to be fair to him, so I suspect we will be resisting. Does look very nice though (google spielgaben.com if you want to see). Can see how if they didn't put it away nicely (ha ha) it would be a pain to keep tidy!

Figster · 10/08/2014 12:39

Aethel is it as wet and miserable where you are??

I'm taking Danny to see Andy from cbeebies this afternoon he's doing a 30 min charity preview of his summer shows (also known as a practice run) for the sake of £5 a ticket and knowing ds love of Andy's dinosaur adventures figured we would go couldn't get dh a ticket too he's very jealous Grin

Chipandspuds · 10/08/2014 12:47

I saw the toy thing on Facebook Aethel, I think it would all end up under the settee in our house! It did set me off thinking about birthday and Christmas presents for DS who has everything I think as he's so into building some Meccano will be his main present, and some arty crafty bits and books of course!

mopsytop · 10/08/2014 13:43

It does look good aethel but there's just no way I'd get Minimopsy to put all the bits back in the boxes. They'd definitely get lost around the house I think ...

Aethelfleda · 10/08/2014 14:39

Well, I've been vetoed so it will have to look lvely in someone elses' house!!!
We do already have a plethora of fuzzyfelt/sticklebricks/duplo/mobilo and some knex/wooden blocks/lacing toys, so it would all be duplication apart from some of the slightly mathsier aspects.

Yep, it's alternating between squalls of doom and brief sunny spells. Spent ten minutes putting out the washing only to have the rain come back so have given up and put it in the drier...now the sun's back out but everything is vairy damp so it's an inside clear up and craft day..

TheOnlySeven · 10/08/2014 18:03

Haven't seen the toy in question but most Montessori toys I've seen tend to be both very lovely and expensive! The weaver hasn't been as bad as they predicted here, it's been wet on and off but I was expecting much worse.

Can't believe you're talking about coffee tables you've owned for 15-17 years, certainly reminds me I'm the youngest on here, 17 years ago I was 11 Shock.

Feeling a bit odd today, horribly big and achy with a headache I've had for 3 days. DD1 is out of sorts, both girls had a high temp on Wednesday, DD2 seems fine apart from a few viral spots but DD1 is still off her food and more tired than usual. Hope the baby stays put for a bit longer so everyone is well when she arrives after the mass vomiting when DD2 came home!

TheOnlySeven · 10/08/2014 18:04

Weather!

AnAirOfHope82 · 10/08/2014 19:16

I have seen the fb thread and I hide it as im just not ready to think dd will be 3 in 3 months time Shock

She is still asking for a drum kit but I think she is too young for lessons. She has asked for two years now Hmm. She loves singing and danceing and music so I might let her have dance lessons but I feel like a hypacrite if dance lessons are ok but drum lessons are not!

We have rain and thunder and lightening here. We are going to the beach tomoro but I think we will push it back till Tuesday. Im getting better so now have to cram all my plans in to two weeks. Soring out a desk for ds, potty trsining dd, nursary setteling in again, same place different room and teachers, tidy house, uniform shopping and a trip out!

AnAirOfHope82 · 10/08/2014 19:22

17 years ago I was 15yo and in high school. If I could go back I would do so meny things different Blush

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 10/08/2014 21:53

17 years ago I was 9. Would've probably had them earlier but aside from that happy how things have turned out.

Ds2 is more 'I eat all the things' so ds1 isn't getting anything with small bits for a few years.
Our coffee table went to the charity shop when ds1 started crawling & won't be replaced until babies have stopped being made. Ds2 is getting his first pair of shoes tomorrow!

Congrats Mr.Figgy on te job!
((Oi)) hope it gets better asap x

Figster · 11/08/2014 11:55

Oh dear I have a crush on Andy cbeebies been daydreaming about him all morning after meeting him yesterday he is so tall!!!!

Aethelfleda · 11/08/2014 14:21

Not Mister Bloom, then figgy??

mopsytop · 12/08/2014 08:17

Totally don't get the Mister Bloom thing!

Figster · 12/08/2014 08:39

Me neither mopsy he looks grubby and I don't like his teeth

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 12/08/2014 10:10

'elllllo tiddlers'

No, just fuck off.

It's the only show I've banned, we're watching in the night garden as ds1 is a bt poorly.
Ds2 has worked out how to take his nappy off. Blast

mopsytop · 12/08/2014 11:15

I literally cannot stand any kids programmes, except proper good films like Wall-e and Toy Story. It is tempting to chuck the tv actually !

I have a pain under my right rib cage ... it has been coming and going (and had it in last pregnancy too and in between the two pregnancies also on occasion). Wondering if is gall bladder related. Anyone any experience of this?

Also saw stars earlier but I was bending down to plug in laptop so I am sure just sporadic low BP. I don't think the pain/stars are in any way related. But still feel mildly anxious. And my midwife is away on hols. I could ring triage and just ask for advice but I guess I am making big deal about nothing at all. The pain is only grumbling, not really bad or anything.

mopsytop · 12/08/2014 11:23

Although is getting a bit worse today and (TMI) have had diarrhoea a lot pady few days. Does that sound like gall bladder issue?

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 12/08/2014 11:45

No idea about the gall bladder but hope you're ok mopsy. Ours is breech atm and it's taking my breath away.

we had fabulous sex last night & I was braxton hicks-ing so much afterwards I had to spend the next hour on the toilet. It's all glamarous!

Aside from Nightmare Beofre Christmas (which he does half of) we can't get ds1 to sit still long enough for a film. Envy being able to watch Toy Story over Baaaaaalammmmorry!

TheOnlySeven · 12/08/2014 12:35

In the absence of aethel giving advice mopsy I'd say if you're worried it's always worth getting checked out.

I don't get the Mr Bloom thing either, or Andy. Too tall with silly hair.

mopsytop · 12/08/2014 15:40

Think I'm just being a worrywart. Had this pain a lot with Minimopsy pregnancy and was grand ! Think is probably gall bladder related and so not urgent. Although I should probably try get it seen to at some stage...
