Nope no teacher/childminder but I think I missed my calling Wink

AnAirOfHope82 · 04/08/2014 19:19

Also has anyone been to lego discovery centre at the trafford centre? Is it good and worth two hour drive to visit?

NorthernChinchilla · 04/08/2014 20:45

Last night of my Mum being here so just a quick pop in. I sympathise mopsy, the reason DS has his name is because it's the only one DP n I could agree on. It's a good solid name tho, suits him!
Good luck seven, I wish u many more days of pregnancy Smile
Taking Mum back up North, staying a day then back here, n off next day to family stag do in Brighton (don't ask). Can c me spending a lot of time on phone on MN!
Hope the mouth is better Oi

mopsytop · 04/08/2014 20:54

Missed your mouth ulcers post Oi. You poor thing. Ulcers are the pits.

pluCaChange · 04/08/2014 21:07

Froggy voice is an improvement on no voice, Air! You sound very energetic. Are you actually feeling bettr, or just faking it?!

mopsy, is your surname Higgins? If so, then I can certainly see why Henry wouldn't go, but that's still no reason not to consider Rumplestiltskin Higgins if only fir the shock value which would soften people up for ANY other name Smile

Hope your mother enjoyed her visit, Northern!

Aethelfleda · 04/08/2014 21:18

Gooo tooo bedddd, DS.... sigh....

We are running through the gamut of excuses tonight. "Is too hot. Iss too cold. Mum, I have wet tummy (drinks bottle related). Mummy iss too dark. Mummy, light is on, is too light. Mummy I iss down stairs. Look mummy. I has feet. Feet is here. Blaarrrr. Mummy I is sleep . Da weels on buss roun and roun.....

....

mopsytop · 04/08/2014 21:25

I had similar aethel but she has finally conked! Many excuses. Mainly about her plaster falling off (she tripped on the way to nursery and grazed her knees, so I put a pink Peppa plaster on one knee and purple George plaster on the other ... she was thrilled!), wanting her bracelet (loom band made in nursery), wanting a particular teddy. Etc etc etc.

AnAirOfHope82 · 04/08/2014 21:31

Oh no boo for none sleeping children. Have you tried reading a book to him in a boreing voice, monotone? Normally works for dd and takes my mind off screaming at her to go to sleep!

Im faking it, im still ill. Taking enhalers, coughing loads, tired (i had three hour nap this afternoon) and finding it hard to walk, talk and sleep but I think its getting a bit better. I feel guilty as we havent done much with the kids in three weeks so I got ds the harry potter lego game and he is still up playing it now! He did great at football but its off for a month now Sad

Its so not fun in our house right now Sad

AnAirOfHope82 · 04/08/2014 21:37

We did bake minion cupcakes yeastetday with dd 'no egg' stuff and the cakes were crunchy and the iceing still wet but the kids had fun makeing and eating them lol

I didnt do kite flying or park as they wanted inlaws over to play board games with us instead.

TheOnlySeven · 04/08/2014 23:51

Don't feel guilty air, it sounds as though you've been really poorly, can't be easy keeping them entertained.

Hope he settled eventually aethel.

northern sounds like a busy few days.

Off to Argos to buy newborn cloth nappy storage tomorrow, then I have my steroid injections on Wednesday and Thursday. After that baby can come when she feels like it. Oh and we've finally picked a name by the way, Elizabeth Jane.

Aethelfleda · 05/08/2014 07:22

Ooh, lovely name seven.

Yep. He Fell asleep at 9.30. Under the coffee table.
I have no idea what is so sophorific about my coffee table!! Think it's just slightly darker under there....

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 05/08/2014 07:59

Lovely names Seven! Both are on our short list if this is a girl.
Can I ask, everyone who has named a baby before it's born..did you ever look at it & say 'he/she doesn't look like an XYZ'? Dh is determined not to have a nameless baby again but I've never named a pet in advance, let alone a baby so worried about getting it wrong & it changing names 5 times like ds2 (whose name doesn't suit him still)!

Boys names I like; Nicholas, Julian, Gabriel, Raphael (nickname Raf!), Tristan, Vincent, Henry (hate Harry though, odd!), John, James, George, Christopher.

Nameberry is a great site, the recommended names if you like X are never stupid suggestions!

mopsytop · 05/08/2014 09:53

If I'd been having a girl those names were high on the list seven!

I like all those names DrFunkes.

Oooh new name site. Procrastination ahoy!

mopsytop · 05/08/2014 09:54

And, yes, we had decided on Minimopsy's name before she arrived, mainly cos was the only one we agreed on! But had intended to use a short form and then decided she wasn't that name so used the long form!

AnAirOfHope82 · 05/08/2014 11:03

I had picked ds name before he was even concived and it suits him.

Dd names im still not sure about Sad

mopsytop · 05/08/2014 16:06

Hmmm, quite like Edmund

mopsytop · 05/08/2014 16:07

Maybe Max?

Nameberry is very time-wasting but I've been feeling v rubbish all day (and all night, not much sleep) and been lying on my bed most of the day. Just lying. Think I've a bug or sth.

Figster · 05/08/2014 18:51

Ooh name games......Alastair, Robert and Russell are my fave boy names girls only name I have these days is Alice.

Back from dr ds still coughing he sees nothing to suggest why it's been well over a week now!!

Dh not home from work yet dinner going to be ruined grrrr

OiMissus · 05/08/2014 20:05

Lovely name seven!
And I like Edmund too.
We do have such good taste on this thread!

Chipandspuds · 06/08/2014 12:41

DH and I are completely stuck on a boys name...he has no suggestions and everything I have suggested he has vetoed!

I'm 24 weeks pregnant this week, 16 (possibly 18) to go! I'm really looking forward to doing it again and having a bit of an idea what to expect! It's too early but I'm thinking if I do the Christmas shopping in October/early November then I can just rest as much as possible in November when I start maternity leave.

NorthernChinchilla · 06/08/2014 15:07

We were the same chip, I had loads that DP vetoed. The one I really wanted was Keir, and thought that Keir Alexander scanned beautifully, but nope. The really, really weird/annoying thing was that my boss' daughter had a little boy and called him Keir Alexander- I was stood in her office going between 'Nooooooooooooo' Shock and 'I wanted that'!!

Robert is one of DS' names, always been a fan of that.

About to knock up a sauce in preparation for dinner, and then will help my Mum re-organise her wardrobe!

I love that story aethel, the various excuses then falling asleep under the coffee table, it's so sweet Grin

mopsytop · 06/08/2014 19:01

Defs difficult to agree on baby names!

Nearly time for GBBO. Excited!

Chipandspuds · 06/08/2014 20:07

I'm having a lie down in bed as seem to have a stress induced headache. Mumsnet probably isn't the best thing to be doing with a headache but sod it! It's just been too busy at work today and a terrible nights sleep last night didn't help. I had a doctors appointment this morning for a routine 24 week check and I felt very lightheaded yet when she took my blood pressure she said it was perfect?!

We have a girls name agreed, but I'm wondering whether to have a middle name as well as I'd like to use the name of my best friend who passed away as a middle name. I'm not sure whether to or not though as it doesn't seem to be the done thing in Chinese culture to name a baby after someone that has passed away and also DS doesn't have an English middle name. I should probably ask DH what he thinks!

Enjoy GBBO Mopsy I might see if I can catch it online later on :)

Aethelfleda · 06/08/2014 20:15

It's eight o'clock. It's time for Child Genius (car-crash reality tV. Clearly all our DCs are totally up there). The parents are being stereotyped by the producers/editors. There's the Nutty Cabbage-Smoothie-Pushy-Mom, the Laid-Back-Dinner-Lady Mum, the Upper-Class-academic-mum, the perfectionist-scary-emotionally-blackmailing dad... I sort of want to watch it but I loathe the daft spectacle of Mensa pitting eight year olds against twelve year olds with the same difficulty of questions and deeming them the "cleverest in the uk". Why does Mensa assume that all the bright sparks want to be part of their self-congratulatory club?

Ahem, ran over. dS is... Wait for it... under the......
