Oh no duh. It would be out of maternity pay, not extra. But would still be a saving.

Chipandspuds · 25/07/2014 19:36

Yes it's the difference between going back to work or not for me! I emailed HR first and they said no but I emailed back and nicely asked if they were sure with a copy and paste from The Family And Childcare Trust and they said yes we will pay the childcare vouchers for 52 weeks. I'm not a pushy person but seeing as all we are entitled to is child benefit I'm don't want to lose out on anything else! I like my job for the most part so I do want to go back to work after maternity leave but even with saving up the childcare vouchers I'll only be taking home a couple of hundred pounds. I'm looking at the long term picture though when DS and unborn dc2 are at school and I'm able to work more hours!

Chipandspuds · 25/07/2014 19:37

The childcare vouchers can be deducted from occupational maternity pay or company maternity pay, but not from statutory maternity pay

Aethelfleda · 26/07/2014 11:13

White magnums are yuuuuuummy. Just sayin'.

mopsytop · 26/07/2014 19:26

I like ice-pops better tbh. Chocolate + heat I don't love so much. In winter though, yes, white magnums yuummmeee!

OiMissus · 26/07/2014 20:57

We like the little Milky Bar I've cream lollies.
But They don't come close to a magnum.
Oh mini magnums.
Dreamy dreamy!
DH's sister is pg. This is the one with 4 kids, 4 dads. She met this bloke at Xmas.theyre getting married on Saturday, and she's just found out she's pg. I want to scream at her. She has 4 kids. The youngest is boi's age. But she is a baby in comparison because she gets no attention / stimulus. Now she'll get her new baby and the other 4 won't get any time at all. It's such a shame. The 3 eldest are nice kids. But they dress in rags and count Quavers as a main food group.
DH's BIL didn't have the op yet. They couldn't get the full surgical team together.
DH has not told his family yet. I may have to actually play along and go to the damned wedding.
I'm not getting them anything.
Maybe I'll just get the kids something instead, and say "you've already got what you wanted."...
I'm not getting new outfit.
I'd rather wear black.
Or jeans.
I think DH feels the same.
I still call him DH on here (?) but I keep having days off from wearing my rings. Wink I have big dints in my fingers! It's not ideal.
Benefits Britain.

OiMissus · 26/07/2014 20:59

The benefits Britain was to go with the earlier story. - not with my dinty fingers!

Figster · 26/07/2014 22:30

Oi Its driving me mad how people churn out babies without any regard for their well being, concern for how they'll be paid for and the general impact it will have across their and their other children's livesAngry dh and I have a nice if not large house, good level of income small debts yet cannot afford another at the moment have made a conscious decision not to have another at any cost for both us and ds well being yet I'm savage at the ease with which others seemingly have babies. Must be us that are wrong????

Been at a BBQ all afternoon ds loved playing with out friends 5 and 6yos and a 5mo baby he just loves babies!!!

I've been feeling crap all week, anxious, restless, close to tears never felt like this before not sure whats wrong. Think weather just cooking me

AnAirOfHope82 · 26/07/2014 22:44

Trip to my parents ended less than 24 hours. I have chest infection and asthma so we came home (plus they were rude).

dd is ill and ds went to football, moved his chair so a wheelchair could get thru and fell of stand and banged his head. He came home and didnt eat dinner as he felt sick and then went to sleep!

I cant breath and I cough loads im so grumpy.

Aethelfleda · 27/07/2014 13:46

Hope you're better today, Air...

pluCaChange · 27/07/2014 14:56

That run of responsibility and bad luck (AnAir) just underlines what Oi and Figgy were saying about what you have to take on and have to deal with, with children!

I had to get up this morning to check on DD, after I dreamed she had inhaled a bit of plastic bag! Ugh, horrible to "see" any thing happen, even when it's not real!

OiMissus · 27/07/2014 20:13

Just looked in the Active section,... Apparently, when people know you're single, or when you go on internet dating sites, it's really common for blokes - strangers - to send pics if their appendages.
What???!?
I mean, what!?!?
WHAT!?!?!??
Wtf?
Is this my future?

NorthernChinchilla · 27/07/2014 20:36

'tis true Oi, and very common. Happened to my friend loads, and a male friend used to do the same.
One word, and that word is. GRIM
It is at least a good way to filter out the knobs, literal and metaphorical Grin. And do NOT go on 'Plenty of Fish' website, that's one of the worst apparently....

OiMissus · 27/07/2014 20:42

I'm not planning on going on any dating websites at all.
At. All.

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 27/07/2014 20:45

We afford our two, soon to be three, by having very little 'fun' outgoings atm & me not working.
London childcare would cripple us with just the one!

I 'signed up' on POF last year (dh knew, it was with a mate who wanted to look around, empty as possible fake profile etc) & it's all knobs, literal & ppl who type lyk dis 'wassup hunni, Luv ur profile, inbox me x' c&p-ed. oh and one of my (married) exes had a profile Hmm

Horrible dreams are awful Plu. X

Hope you've had a better day Air

Scan this week. Sounds stupid but now I'm 'more' pregnant, the idea of giving birth again is a bit scary.

TheOnlySeven · 27/07/2014 21:36

Wow oi 5 DCs by 5 men, that's an impressive record! Someone I went to school with has 6DCs with 3 women, 2 of them were even pregnant at the same time.

Tbh I find it just as annoying when people complain the can't afford more children (my sister) when they aren't prepared to make lifestyle changes. Her and her DP have had 3 holidays this year, dinner out at fancy restaurants every other weekend and now they're buying a five bed roomed house, I've had one holiday in the last 5 years.

Hope you're feeling better air

mopsytop · 27/07/2014 22:19

Hope you're feeling better Air and your son is OK.

DrFunkes, me too re giving birth! Got the fear a bit earlier...

AnAirOfHope82 · 27/07/2014 23:11

I think im in hell and someone forgot to tell me! Hmm

I cant breath and now lost my voice and being sick. On top I have to lay down to bf dd to sleep when I feel like I have a plastic bag over my head and she id ill, too hot and over tired. There has been screaming, crying and tantrums and thats just.from me!

I went to walkin and got a blue enhaler and told to go to a&e if I have an attack. That 10 puffs of blue enhaler is the same as the miniblizer.

Ds is now fine but tring to get me to talk as my voice sounds funny. I still had to bath, cloth feed and clean poo up so no break for me.

I have had two hours sleep in 72 hours and I cant cope. My lungs hurt my throut hurt and im feel sick and sometimes I am sick.

Im sleeping on sofa so everyone else can get some sleep.

AnAirOfHope82 · 27/07/2014 23:16

Dh cant look after himself so no chance of someone looking after me.

Dh has taken the dc to his mums for a few hours for the last two days but I hurt so much and cough that I cant sleep and still have to look after everyone else when they get back.

pluCaChange · 28/07/2014 01:38

Go to A&E or an Urgent Care Centre for a nebuliser, AnAir! Shock

AnAirOfHope82 · 28/07/2014 08:25

I did peek flow readings and got 400, 370 & 300 normal is 470 so not classed as having an asthma attack. They had the machine at the walkin center but felt it was the chest infection and not asthma as my chest sounded clear. I only seen the pratice nurse.

I still lose my breath when coughing or sneesing. I still hurt but im ok for now. It keeps coming and going whezzing. I still feel like I cant breath and if itgets worse I will go to a&e. I dont have enough breath to talk or put words together! Not that it matters now my voice has gone.

Im hiding in mu room from the kids as dh can make toast and put the tv on!

Im still uber grumpy

TheOnlySeven · 28/07/2014 10:18

I'm not surprised you're grumpy air that sounds awful.

Aethelfleda · 28/07/2014 11:42

Air, go back to the walkin centre or go to your Gps NOW and tell them you can't breathe properly and need to see a doctor..
Inability to talk in a full sentence is a "red flag" and means you need a doctors review. Get yourself seen again. You may need extra inhalers or steroid treatment. You need a real life checkup. If your GP is open over lunchtime them ring or go there and explain you can't breathe well. The walkin centre may be nearer. A&E is the backup but they may have a longer wait. Just get seen again, ok?

pluCaChange · 28/07/2014 13:08

I was sent for a chest xray recently for less than that!

AnAirOfHope82 · 28/07/2014 13:24

Doctors appointment made for 5pm Wednesday. It was a cancelled spot as I said I had trouble breathing they said next Tuesday at 10am to start with Shock
