Congrats Mopsy!! Boys are amazing, if I can twist your arm, two are even better Grin
I really love John but with the frilly long names of the other two could never use it!
Sympathies in the PGP, I have it too! Got my nhs bump band and physio lady!

Good luck for the weekend, fiancée meeting etc Northen!

Ds1 got an alpha blocks dvd for Xmas, can I find it now?! Nope.
He told me 'Peppa is dead' last week and hasn't wanted tot watch it since, slightly dramatic hipster baby!

mopsytop · 24/07/2014 09:43

DrFunkes, I'd love if Minimopsy told me peppa was dead! She still says 'shoo birdy' every time she sees a bird thanks to bloody daddy pig . I, too, have bump band and physio. Not much use tbh.

mopsytop · 24/07/2014 09:44

I like John too! Also Patrick, David, Matthew, Edward.

mopsytop · 24/07/2014 11:04

It is our 5th wedding anniversary today. Lovely memories. Was such a lovely day. I wish we could do it all over again!

Figster · 24/07/2014 11:13

When ds was a bump he was called little Johnny I decided I didn't like Jonathan at last minute dh still goes on about how he should be called Johnny. If/when we have another he has called naming rights though I have my girl name picked already - Alice- ds loves baby's he wants a baby sister I asked him whether her name would be Alice and he said "no daddy said no" ......cheeky blighter. I think if we had another boy it would be Robert/Robbie/Bobby

Figster · 24/07/2014 11:13

Happy anniversary

AnAirOfHope82 · 24/07/2014 11:17

Happy anniversary Mopsy and congrats on pg and scan.

I like the name Peter for a boy!

Off to my parents for a week cos ds likes them and keeps asking to see his cousins Sad
Wish me luck

OiMissus · 24/07/2014 13:23

Happy Anniversary!
You know you can't beat Alistair, for a traditional name that's still not too popular. And Ali for short is soooo cool. (I think :) )
Ali has gone to the caravan with the GP's. I'll pick him up on Saturday. I didn't want to let him go, our limited time is even more precious now, but they are child minding all this week, and babysitting on Friday night when we're out with work, so it would've ruined their weekend if I'd said no, just for the sake of one more night.
I'll go and pick him up on Saturday, spend the day there, and come home in the evening. Well, that's what mum and I have agreed. Dad is still not talking to me, so I may just pick Boi up and bring him home. Dad isn't speaking to Dh either. Very silly.
My sis says he didn't speak to her for 4 months when she got pg out of wedlock. (Oh the horror! And she was living in sin with her partner already, and only 26. - ie perfectly set up to welcome a surprise child!)
So don't call your child Arnold, just in case he follows the same Victorian traits!)
So, am BOi-less this evening. And not set up to go to the gym, or go out with friends. I was thinking of going shopping. But the cash situ doesn't really support it. (I need to save up for new windows, new balcony roof, new fireplace/building...).
Maybe I'll go and just make a start on the utility room.
Oh the joys!

NorthernChinchilla · 24/07/2014 13:28

Was exhausted figgy, like I had flu for two months. Nothing else, n fine after that, but know I could not cope w that, work n DS.
Robert n John r two of DS's names, good choices!
Happy anniversary mopsy enjoy as far as the bump permits Smile

NorthernChinchilla · 24/07/2014 13:29

x post Oi, yr father, honestly!

pluCaChange · 24/07/2014 18:51

Hi, everyone! The rhizomes of mobile communication have spread into cottage country, and we have internet access though our phones Shock. However, there's still no CBeebies, and no television, so DS is having to read (mwahhaha), but sadly that doesn't help DD, so she's doing the same tantrums as everyone else's, with no thunderstorms to blame! Nevertheless, it's lovely here. I'll try to post a pic in a minute.
We're not being badly plagued by mosquitoes, so the woods aren't completely off limits, as they were last time.

The trip here also included tantrums, and DS's vom in the car on the M25 carpark. The trip itself was all right, though more trying than when we outnumbered DS. (Northern and Figgy, take note: I got away with not sitting with the DC because the seats are in 3s and DH still owed me for the stag weekend, but with 2 parents and only 1 DC, there's no escape!) DD was alternately rotating, trying to lie down on the floor, playing wiht the tray table and watching the plane TV. On the way back, we've got 2+2, so even stevens again Smile

Hop, did the "Ark" rain cause the chicken to turn up, or was it a coincidence?

All those thunderstorms sound incredible! Do you think they're causing the DCs to malfunction, or is it just widespread twonagerdom? (Northern, maybe you could use a thuinderstorm to distract DP's friend and the fiancee from the fact that you won't be going to the wedding?)

Sorry the heat is oppressing you, though, Mopsy and seven. Do the thunderstorms not help at all? Hope the anniversary celebrations, minimopsy's recovery and your scan have at least cheered you, Mopsy!

I thought of you and the in-app purchases yesterday, Seven. There was an ad on in the place where we were eating lunch (in town to buy food), boasting that an app was "free to download" from the apple store and Google PLay. To my mind, that means "in-app" purchases, so is a pretty big turn-off!

DrFunke, how's your back Smile

AnAir, good luck at your parents'! Make sure they give you full credit for DS's gold star, hey?

Bonne rentree to MrAethel! Mind you thank your Queen Aethel holding the kingdom together very well, despite provocation from the heavens, the DC and the horrible aeroplane news Sad
P.S. I love the Alphablocks, too (and thank goodness the DC agree with me! Wink)

OiMissus, your father is an arse. It sounds as though your DSis will offer solidarity due to his past form, but it's a bit sad that solidarity is needed! Does he think you're going to beg for his forgiveness? or guidance? Confused It's a shame that he's falling out with you when you could do with support (or, simply, lack of pressure). Luckily, BOi seems a lot luckier in his father. Smile

Aethelfleda · 25/07/2014 08:41

Dh is back! Woo-hoo!

mopsytop · 25/07/2014 08:43

Yay aethel!

Gorgeous day here. Soooo don't want to work Sad

NorthernChinchilla · 25/07/2014 09:26

Computer being an are, so using phone. DS very nearly became fertiliser for next year's flower beds after he used a garden cane to whack my geraniums n create pretty petal confetti on the floor.... Am off today- sorry mopsy- but doing piles of housework to get place ready for visitors.
Off to clean bathroom sighs

mopsytop · 25/07/2014 12:16

Uncomfortably warm. Have been feeling v sick all morning ... think is the heat Sad Sad Sad

Chipandspuds · 25/07/2014 12:56

Not much news here...I'm still keeping up pilates and aerobics once a week, really enjoying the classes :)

I think I've figured out I can return to work after baby no.2. My employers will continue to pay childcare vouchers for me whilst I'm on maternity leave and I'm going to save these up in my account and use them when I return to work in Jan 16. In the meantime once DS turns 3 years old I will send him to nursery 3 mornings a week using his free 15 hours a week.

DS is talking a lot which is fun and he's starting to use his imagination whilst playing e.g. setting up a blanket in the floor and putting teddies, and any other animal toys around and making them a picnic.

We're thinking about having a day out to London on Sunday, DS will be very happy to go on a train! There's a Japanese exhibition at Earls Court that DH wants to go to. I'm happy with that on condition I get to drink as much soya milk as I want :)

mopsytop · 25/07/2014 13:02

Chip, is that an extra benefit or is it usual for employers to continue to pay childcare vouchers? would be an amazing benefit...

mopsytop · 25/07/2014 13:03

Jealous of aerobics BTW..I can only walk (very) slowly. Bloody PGP

OiMissus · 25/07/2014 13:58

I only work in the mornings on Friday, so decided to wfh. But then Virgin had wifi problems so I went to the top, to tesco's, and got my eyesight checked and new glasses ordered!
I also ordered some Oakley sunglasses with prescription mirror lenses. They saw me coming! ha!
Broadband is now working.
But I am not!
Time to sunbathe! GrinGrinGrinGrin

OiMissus · 25/07/2014 14:00

Childcare vouchers - grey area. There is no legal requirement, but most companies will continue to pay them. My colleague looked online for advice, sent it to HR, and they agreed to pay them. My hr usually do the minimum legal only. So this was a v pleasant surprise.

pluCaChange · 25/07/2014 14:13

Hi, chip, glad it's all going so well! Smile

Good luck with the guests, Northern. I must admit I was cleaning, too, yesterday: DH's cousin & Co are visiting. However, everything is bearable with a steam mop!

mopsy, any chance if working in a bath, with ine of those cross-tub boards? The water would be cool and weight-lightening...? Is it still the project of turning the PhD into a book?

DS and DD wildly excited this AM about seeing a loon (and DS further worked up by DD's pronouncing it "yoon", as she can't say L yet! Smile)

mopsytop · 25/07/2014 17:05

Hop you're trending on Mumsnet! Just got a random update email from mumsnet ... you know the ones ... and it is about your thread!

Chipandspuds · 25/07/2014 19:12

Mopsy I think most employers continue to pay childcare vouchers whilst you are on maternity leave for the full 52 weeks but only if the employee raises the question beforehand. I think some employers simply aren't aware of the implications of them not continuing to pay the childcare vouchers and some employers want to save the money anD rely on their employees not knowing about this.

If you have a look at this link it's quite handy www.familyandchildcaretrust.org/help-with-childcare-costs-during-maternity-leave As Oi said it is a grey area but the general gist of it is that as the childcare vouchers are classed as a non cash benefit and it's part of your contract so that employers could be seen as discriminating against you whilst you're on maternity leave if they don't pay the childcare vouchers for you. It hasn't been tested in a tribunal yet, but if you have a google about alabaster maternity calculations, if that has passed then I think a case on childcare vouchers would too. One thing I do like about working in payroll is that you get to read up on lots of interesting things!

My employer uses Kiddivouchers childcare vouchers. If you have a look at this guide www.kiddivouchers.com/pdfs/Childcare%20vouchers%20during%20maternity%20leave.pdf it's interesting reading!

mopsytop · 25/07/2014 19:31

Thanks chip! I'll contact HR and see what the deal is. That's an extra £248 a month if so ... that's a huge extra benefit!
