Looks as if I made it up doesn;t it?! I actually live right in Guildford town centre. Nice to know there are quite a few of us around the same area.

Whitestar, I know what you mean about the men in our lives. I think it might be an attention / competition thing. Mine keeps demanding I stop feeding to make him a cup of tea / cook him dinnner as he's been at work all day and I've apparently been sitting round the house!!

Koshka, my Dad hasn't been down to see Alexander yet either. I'm not that surprised as I only see him a couple of times a year, but I'm sad for Alexander. Its tough, isn't it. I think you just have to appreciate the good grandparents they do have.

Wallace · 07/09/2006 13:35

agalch - near aviemore. My brother has just moved to Alloa - anywhere near you?

agalch · 07/09/2006 14:55

Hi Wallace,i'm in Livingston so am i near you? I don't know as i am rubbish with places and where they are in ralation to where i am
Have def heard of Aviemore tho.Skiing (sp) yes?

kbaby · 07/09/2006 16:40

Whitestar- Hope everything goes ok for the op. DS was born with positional talipates(sp) and that also seems to be staightening out now.

Wallace- Yes our DS is v spotty all over his face and neck. The poor chap, between the spots, cross eyes and now the fact that his hair is rubbing off around the sides hes not the pretiest.

Ive had a lovely day today. Mum took the day off work so we both took DD and Ds to playgroup then she did me lunch and banished me to go hom and have a sleep and not go back until 6pm so ds has been left with ff and ive had a nice hours sleep and am now going to have a shower in peace. MIL has also offered to have ds an afternoon a week I just need to relax on giving him a bottle though. I feel guilty that he isnt having ebm anf that he is having a bottle not a boobie, I guess my sanity is worth more than 1 bottle of ff.

Dom has had a hungry night and day - feeling knackered, seems like a growth spurt as he's feeding all the time [baggy-eyed emoticon]. He'll be 6 wks on monday

Hi ladies

Had a rough night with Sophie-she woke at 12-30am then 4-30am. She wittered inbetween and after the 4-30am feed she just wouldn't settle at all so brought her into our bed. Was tired before last night so now v. tired. Think she might be getting DD1's cold. Told DH I am at the stage where if anything goes wrong I will burst into tears-Doh! Tiredness eh?

I do find that I look at ladies with children and think hmmmm-are they a MNetter?

This aeroplane keeps flying over our house really low, it is a grey military one but the size of a jumbo-bit scary.

BF in the Wacky Warehouse this afternoon-am getting braver as that is twice in public now!

Hope everyone is Ok, off to get tea ready. Steak Diane, Brie and Potato Bake and sweetcorn courtesy of Tesco Finest .

Byee for now.

LOL kayzed - shame you can't be hooked up to a milking machine that will pump while you sleep

Livingston is near edinburgh isn't it? Aviemore is the skiing place. we live between there and inverness.

kbaby · 07/09/2006 21:33

Collected dd and ds from my mums tonight and apparently DS was an angel. When I got there he was sleeping in the bouncy chair! he never sleeps in ours, cries if i even put him in it.
He took the bottle well but unfortunetly projectile vomited after 2hrs of it. Not sure if it was the formula or maybe just brought it up with wind, thats 3 times this week hes done that now.

Morning ladies and babies!

Kbaby - So glad you got a break it does wonders for your mood doesn't it! I give Logan ff last thing at night and he sleeps for about 5 hours he sometimes sicks a bit up but I think it looks like more than it actually is. Good that your little ones talipes are correcting themselves Logans are congenital but we knew about them from 20 week scan so know just about everything there is to know about club feet!

Maewest- my little lad is also eating for england feel like I'm being sucked dry he'll be 6 weeks next wednesday.

Does anyone know if you can catch chicken poxs from shingles? My sister is 38 weeks pregnant and her mil rang to say she had shingles but her doctor said it's not contagious??!! I'm sure you can get poxs from it and my sister doesn't need her new born to get that!

Have a lovely day with many cuddles!!

kbaby · 08/09/2006 10:31

me again.
We had a really quiet evening as well. DS slept most of the evening and hardly cried, I think it mustve been from being sick.
He fed at 11pm and then not until 3.30 thats 5 1/2hrs. Im at dh though. I fed ds at 11 and dh said hed stay up with him for a while, I woke at 1am and dh was still downstairs doing work and said hed be up soon. I came back downstairs at 3am and he was asleep on the settee with ds!!!!!! I was horified as its something I have drummed in he must never do encase he sufocates ds. I just lost confidence in him now and tonight ds will be coming to bed the same time as me.
Ive found something that keeps DS happy while hes sleeping(instead of holding) a swing. Hes in it now so ive been able to clean the windows and give downstairs a quick once over the first time since he was born, cant leave him too long though.

nixnoo · 08/09/2006 10:42

hi all,
Sefton's eyes are a lot puffier than normal today. He also has slight "dark circles" under them. I have heard this could be an allegy? But what could he possibly be allergic too?
Anyone have any experience in this?

Girlinfrance ? know what you mean about losing posts, it?s so annoying isn?t it! They just disappear if you refresh the page before sending. After doing this dozens of times I now try and write my posts in Word so I can cut and paste them, however I?m always tempted to add to them once the text is in the ?posting box? so still manage to lose loads

Kaby ? like the sound of the swing ? is it one of those ?bed swings??

Can empathise with those feeling crabby and annoyed at DP/DH?s ? I think with me it?s often frustration, I?m finding it really hard to get things ?done?, even just stupid things like writing and posting thank you cards, or a couple of loads of washing. Still haven?t signed up with a new broadband supplier as I can?t bring myself to actually choose one. I get to the end of the day and think ?what the bloody hell have I done for 12 hours? apart from a few breastfeeds, trying to keep Emma from crying and changing nappies. A trip to the supermarket is a major achievement in terms of time, though it?s not actually difficult in itself. It?s like my brain is so distracted I can?t use it to summon up any willpower or organisation unless there really is something else urgent to do.

Yesterday I spent most of the day at work (took Emma) and my brain was shocked back into having to be organised, getting Emma up and dressed and driven somewhere by 9.45am! So it is possible to get things done, that?s what?s even more annoying. Makes me feel lazy for not doing it every day. Was weird being at work with her, ended up having to BF during a meeting with two other colleagues (one male) because she just laughed when I tried to feed her with EBM from a bottle and spat it out! I had to feed her as she was on the brink of screaming and I couldn?t leave the meeting, so had to BF there and then (think I deserve the award for brazen breastfeeder of the week! ). It was fine though and luckily no one seemed bothered (I did keep well covered up, of course, or it might have been different!).

So I think whoever had the theory about babies knowing that boobs are nearby instead of the bottle was right, as last week DP managed to feed EBM from the bottle no problem when I wasn?t there. As a test, he tried it again last night and though she fussed a bit at first, and stopped when she heard me come back into the room, she eventually downed the whole bottle.
One thing I have wondered about is whether babies are put off by the chlorine-y smell of sterilisers - the bottles smell quite strongly when they come out of the Milton solution, even after rinsing with cooled boiled water. I guess if you use the dishwasher or just boiling water to sterilise then it's not a problem though.

maewest · 08/09/2006 12:59

Along with guzzling every 2-3 hrs, Dom is also pooing like a champion. Makes me laugh when you think of those photos that they show you at antenatal classes of what to expect and there is a little spot of poo in the middle of the nappy - as if! My mum and dad are coming to stay this weekend - dad hasn't seen him since he was 2 days old so is pretty excited.

Might try and get myself motivated to express some milk this weekend, jsut reminds me of being in hospital when he was jaundiced and it puts me off a bit...

IamBlossom · 08/09/2006 13:03

I wonder if I can manage to write this post without one of my sons waking up..god it's bliss when they fall asleep at the same time. If the removals men outside moving next door wake them up I shall be murderous...

Hi everybody. 1st@40, I can't believe you were at work. Wot is work? I would not be able to accomplish a single conversation regarding work, never mind complete a meeting.

Just back from singing group with the boys and then went onto DS1's 2 year check. I can't beleive my baby is going to be 2 on Monday, where has the time gone? He never stops talking like EVER, then of course wouldn't say a word to the HV during the check until I stopped faffing and trying to feed Toby and sat with him, then the floodgates opened. Then got distracted by changing Toby's nappy while HV was writing in DS1's red book and found him sitting on the floor eating a crayon, and he then bit my finger REALLY HARD when I was fishing it out of his mouth - managed to refrain from swearing at the pain which would have looked really good, not. She also seemed to give him the hardest wooden puzzle to complete that I've ever seen, or maybe I am being a paranoid mum?

Toby slept from 8 till 11.30pm, then woke again at 2.30, and 5am, and that is the norm for him. He feeds for ten minutes, I wind him for two and then he goes back in his crib and takes himself off to sleep. I would rather he fed that frequently and carried on being able to go to sleep himself than sleep for longer stretches but be awake longer if you see what I mean.

DS1 has stopped climbing out of his cot, thank the lord, as he is covered in brusies from doing it. We are nearly ready to put him in his new room, stair gate came yesterday, need to buy curtains and a bookshelf this weekend. Really looking forward to the weekend, taking DS1 to Finkley Down Farm for his birthday treat tomorrow (lots of animal feeding etc) which I hope he will love - we have never taken him anywhere like that before, didn't see the point if he couldn't actually participate in anything, but I think he will really enjoy seeing and feeding and stroking the animals and apparently it's got a really flash play area. Then lunch with friends on Sunday, and then it will be a new week, full of toddler craft, singing, story time at the library! God how my life has changed - 3 months ago I spent most of my time on a PC or on a train to London....I would definitely say I prefer this life, it is harder, without question, but I do love being with my boys....

DH is being very good at the moment - he does all the cooking, and bath times with DS1, and has given up going in the spare room. This maybe TMI, but we attempted "the deed" tehe other night, at my instigation, he thought it was too soon but I wanted to get back in the saddle. Bottom line = I need to get on the pill and fast - condoms are SUCH a turn off and it was all a bit of a shambles. It feels so long since I've been normal size and shape, we need some more practice and definitley some decent contraception....

Jeanie I am also 10 stone 2 and a stone overweight. Let's do it together, it will encourage me...

Have great weekends everyone.

Bloss

PS. They are both STILL asleep! It's a miracle - that's a post on Mumsnet, a whole hot cup of coffee and a bowl of fruit and museli! Unheard of!

PPS. Toby is on the 95th percentile!!!!!!!!1

IamBlossom · 08/09/2006 13:06

Mae i haven't expressed yet either, although the time is fast approaching when I would like someone else to be able to feed Toby and when i would like my mum for example to be ble to watch him for an hour while I go for a swim for eg....oh that would be heavenly.........

Wallace · 08/09/2006 13:55

I expressed for the first time today! Expressied 2oz then Leo woke up so I stopped and gave him the bottle there and then. He guzzled the whole lot down! I topped him up with boobie afterwards too. First time I have ever given a baby a bottle and it felt weird. I was happy that he took it so easily, but also feel a bit berayed! I used the closer to nature bottles btw.

HumphreysCorner · 08/09/2006 13:56

Morning ladies

Me and kbaby seem to have disappeared off the list FirstatForty and yes, do enlighten us to why you were at work????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Was it a 'senior' moment

Bloss-don't take alot of notice of the 2 year checkups. Looking back I did find the HV annoying but I had just had a MC at the time so everything was challenging. Your DS1 will only do what he wants when he wants like every child. Happy B'Day to him for Monday. Have only attempted the 'deed' once and it was painful. Am on the pill and have been for 4 weeks-only problem is that due to my jelly brain I keep forgetting to take it-doh! DH then told he has to wait another week then hey presto, I forget again! He is getting v. desperate-bless. I am also v. overweight-3 stone to be precise. The BF is no longer shifting pounds so going to have to do it myself. Can't afford to rejoin WW.

kbaby-once when DD1 was a few weeks old DH had brought her into our bed at 11pm ish and DH always drifts off immediately and nothing wakes him. I dozed off then woke up and DH was laid with his arm over her face. I had 6 heart failures so will never let him do that again.

whitestar-don't know about the pox bit. Don't think it is harmful in late pregnancy but certainly not sure. Did look it up when all my friend's children came down with it when I was 3/4 the way though my pregnancy but read conflicting reports on the net and I have already had chicken pox in my teens.

Still washing my clothes several times a day due to Sophie's reflux. Hung loads out earlier then next door but one has lit a bonfire so had to bring it all in and it would have dried really quickly due to glorious hot sun-gggrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Must go, love to all.

HumphreysCorner · 08/09/2006 13:57

What is that gap all about-stoopid compooter!

FirstAtForty · 08/09/2006 14:52

oops sorry, cut and pasted the wrong list - yes, v probably a senior moment!

You might well ask why I was at work - my maternity cover person has walked out and it's a small company so was one of those 'what the do we do now' meetings. I thought it was probably better to have some say in what does happen now as it will affect my workload when I go back. Will make sure I take the time off later though.

Has worn me out though - have done nothing today again except web surf (in a limited way, due to dial up connection) and watch telly, oh yes and look after the baby. Emma slept all morning though which was wonderful.

usandbump · 08/09/2006 15:48

at all these babies accepting bottles, I tried every day for 3-4 weeks with very little success and have now given up for a while. Off to the clinic on Monday for a weigh in so will see if they have any advice. The pressure has been taken off a bit though because we decided last night that I will return to work in January rather than November (which is just 7 wks away ). Yay!!!

I too have a stone to lose which is alot as I'm only 5'2" but just can't seem to shift it no matter how much walking I do.

Was considering attempting the 'deed' but have started bleeding again, not sure why could be my AF but it is very light also I'm BF so didn't expect it yet?

Glad the bottles were a success KZ

My sister was due to babysit tonight but I'm going to phone and cancel now, Zack was making lots of noise in his sleep last night and so I got very little sleep, he wasn't really crying just grumbling away every half an hour or so.
