Nixnoo - forgot to say that we have no daytime routine - DS sleeps when and where he wants and there does not appear to be a pattern despite the books saying one would emerge. Somedays he sleeps a lot (like today), others he hardly sleeps at all.

Nightime we do have a routine of sorts, I bath him between 6-7, he goes for cuddles with DH and then we feed him approx 8 and then he falls asleep - usually for the rest of the night.

Still feel he is a bit young for a routine and as he sleeps so well at night, I am a bit wary of forcing daytime naps on him.

hic - having the first glass of wine since Dom was born, feels v decadent

Got FIL here this weekend, so Dom has now been seen by whole set of grandparents. Going to try and eat some chicken casserole whilst the boy is calm, he's not hungry as he's just had dinner (before wine) just wants to be awake and joining in the conversation but is yawning his head off.

One nip is a bit sore, think from tired latching and comfort sucking in the wee small hours, so have been trying to air it as much as poss, and have brought out the Lansinoh again. Hopefully will not get any worse..

talk soon & take care ladies xx

HumphreysCorner · 02/09/2006 20:05

Evening ladies

maewest-first glass of wine ? My dad has just taken my 9 bottles of Blossom Hill empties to the bottle bank Before Sophie there would probably have been double that in 9 weeks

FirstatForty-this is the first time I've BF and I regularly sit and BF while eating my dinner. Napkin-what napkin?????? Spilt tea on her the other night We used to be on Wanadoo but now on Tiscali.

jane-bets on you feeling soooooo much better when your HV calls round. Hugs to you.

I forget who has just had their first baby and who is on their second and more as some of the stories are all too familiar to me like when I had DD1.

Took DD1 to her first dance class today. She loved it and ended up buying some second hand tap shoes from the class-bargain at £5. Just need some ballet shoes and a lycra outfit.

Right girlies, must put DH's laptop down as he is looking lost without it. Sophie also eating her hands so will now be feeding until 11pm ish. Think it will be a bad night as her poo was the biggest ever so no wonder she is starving.

Take care and love to all

maewest · 03/09/2006 10:55

morning all - prettymum, hope you got some sleep last night. And kayzed, with you on the Lagavulin, was introduced to single malts a few years ago, and this is one of my favourites, wonder if it would settle a wakeful baby...

I feel pretty marvellous as I slept between 11.30 and 4.30 as DH took Dom downstairs at the beginning of the night to settle him - that's a whole five hours without being on the boob, wow! Only prob is that DH is now hanging, but hey, that's how I feel every weekday morning

Lanith · 03/09/2006 17:10

Hi everyone, I'm also a July mummy having had DD ont th 6th July 06 two weeks early.

I am very relived to have found some July mummies, DD is coming up to nine weeks and this is the first time I've had chance to search properly for you all. It feels like I have spent the last 8 weeks constantly Bfing!!

I am very excited by you confident mummies who are Bfing and bottle feeding. Please please please can you offer some advice. What formula do you use and how did you introduce it and how much do you give your babies?? I would like to introduce a FF in the evening to give DH a chance to feed her and to take the pressure off me.

I'm still awaiting for DD to show some signs of getting in to a routine, but as yet every day and night seems to be different.

I'm very gald to have found some real mummies who understand!!

Love Lanith

Evening girls

prettymum-I hope you are suitably refreshed.

I had a 2am, 5am and 8am wake up so a tad tired but DH and I tackled the grass cutting this afternoon. Him on the ride on and me doing the other bits with the push mower. The rain spoilt us finishing strimming and edges-oh well.

Girls-having MIL troubles again. FIL said last week to take Sophie round to see her so on Saturday I persuaded DH to call round there with me but they were out. He didn't want to go in the first place so I asked when MIL was ever going to see Sophie as she hasn't seen her for weeks! He told me he couldn't see what the problem was as I pass by the end of her road several times a week. I said that due to what happened with DD1 I was never going on my own but MIL could visit our house. He thought I was being unreasonable about seeing his mother but as I told him 'you weren't there!' during the DD1 days. Dark months that I never want to go through again. Thought they might come this afternoon but no. They are away next weekend. What would you all do??????????? My SIL (my brother's wife) never brought my nephews to see my mum. On the rare time she saw them my brother came too. It is spoiling my days with Sophie but I am trying not to let it bother me as with DD1 it sorted itself out in the end with MIL having her for one day a week when she was a few months old and will until she goes to school. Then I suppose that will start again as she won't see her during the week only at weekends-blimey, is anyone elses life this complicated? Also, MIL never saw her MIL as she refused.

Shan't bore you any more but interested to know what you would all do.

Love to all

Welcome Lanith, we are v. friendly on here.

Most of us are using FF of some kind. I use SMA Gold on the odd occasions I go out. The others will let you know what they are using. I have gone from using several bottles to mostly BF. Would like to have enough milk to express for when I go out but took several hours on Saturday to get 4 oz out. Sophie seems more satisfied now after shorter feeds-phew!

Going to serve tea now.

Byee for now.

Hello everyone,
I have been an avid lurker of your antenatal thread since the begining but had problems posting right back in november so gave up and carried on lurking but with my preggie head clear I've sorted it!!!
My Ds2 was born at home on the 2nd august 06( due the 31st july) he weighed 8lb 5oz and is called Logan my dd(9) and ds1(7) saw him being born and dd cut the cord oh Dh(36 going on 10) was there too!

So glad I've finally managed to join you girls I've followed your highs and lows for so long!

superblue · 03/09/2006 21:14

Welcome Lanith and Whitestar - I haven't been on here that long as I am a newcomer to MN but they are very friendly. My DS was born on 14 July so is now over 7 weeks old -how time flies.

Kayzed - DS reflux not much better - we have good days and bad days - today was a particularly bad day as he threw up badly twice (once all over my sister and her kitchen floor tee hee - everytime she picks him up he throws up or wees on her!) - this one was nearly 2 hours after his feed and there was quite a lot of volume - sister says that her DS never did that and he had reflux so god knows!! Am going to ring dr tomorrow and get in as soon as I can - hopefully he will prescribe infant gaviscon (Janenevie - thanks for the advice - hope dr will prescribe it - did you find it easy to get dr to prescribe it?) Had increased his feeds to 4oz then it started to get worse again so have gone back down to 3oz every 3 hours or so - am v worried that he is not eating enough though. Anyone else ff? If so, how much does your lo take?

Lanith - am with you on the lack of routine - nighttime is the same but the days vary so much - I am waiting for this 'routine' that babies get into naturally (according to all the books!!)

HC - I feel for you with MIL - I am also refusing for as long as I can to visit MIL or her visit me without DH being there - I don't think I could hold off being mean to her when she starts with her mutterings! Latest with her is that when I mentioned last week that I thought DS had reflux, because she hadn't heard of it, she refused to accept it and kept coming up with other excuses for his puking. Now, however, as she has spoken to other people who do know about it she is the 'expert' and rings up constantly with advice - how infuriating!! Also, she is putting her life on hold and won't commit to anything as it 'depends on how Joshua is' - DH has tried to explain that it is not life threatening and there is no need - talk about over-reacting!! Although it is her sister's birthday party on Friday (neither me or DH too keen on her) so we have given DS permission to be really ill that night!!

Hi all,

We saw the cranial osteopath yesterday and she said his head is compressed from being engaged for so long and also problems in his chest, well see her agin next week. Im hoping it works.

Yesterday he was terrible and cried all day and night but today he does seem calmer.
Last night he fed at 11, 2.30 and 4am the 4am feed I put him back down and he was groaning and then projectile vomited. It went up over the side of his moses basket and down my wardrobe he didnt go back to sleep then and didnt even feed until 9.30am! He did the same again today while in his pram and it went up over the pram onto the floor. Weve also noticed that he seems much calmer if hes held upright so weve taken to propping him up on the settee and he actually fell asleep this morning like that. Its making me think the same as kayzed that maybe he has mild reflux that would explain the projectile vomit, the crying when laying down, arching his back after a feed and crying and the constant crying day and night. Im off to the gps tomorrow as DH is 'concerned' about my moods and tearyness so I will mention ds to the gp.
Tonight im going to prop his basket up to see if it helps.

Had 2hrs sleep this afternoon as my mum looked after ds and dd for us.

superblue · 03/09/2006 21:49

Kbaby - sounds like reflux to me (I have become an 'expert' after all the reading I have done) - the symptoms certainly fit. I have had the projectile vomiting in his moses basket and cot - lovely isn't it?

Sorry to sound ignorant but what does a cranial osteopath do??

jom · 03/09/2006 21:53

Hi everyone! Hope all you with the reflux/colic problems are coping. Amelia has mild colic and I have been giving her infacol which seems to be helping slightly but am just hoping she'll grow out of it at around 3 months which is apparently quite common.

She had her second big shopping expedition yesterday and spent the day out with myself, my MIL and SIL (sorry for all you who have probs with yours - mine are great) on Oxford Street. Talk about a mini celeb everyone has to have a look and comment. And she was an angel - just slept the whole time apart from when she woke for a feed (M&S cafe Marble Arch) Didn't buy anything but have seen lots I want for when I lose these extra 5kg I've got to go!

Off to have an early night! Good night all

jom · 03/09/2006 22:07

kbaby - yes that sounds like reflux to me - my DS had it, not too bad though. The arching his back and projectile vomitting all brought back memories.....We took him to see a paed and was told there's not really a lot that can be done and they grow out of it. We gave him gaviscon and changed his formula to a thicker one and did a lot of the things that you and others have mentioned like keeping them propped upright (including their bed). Hang in there, you sound like you're beginning to find some things that are working for your LO.

hey everyone, hope everythings going good with all the babys!!! having a better and stress free evening tonight, had a long talk with dp and managed to calm myself!

ds had his very first taste of formula today, not very happy with the change but he drunk half of it because he had no choice but to do so. how did everyone introduce ff?and if anyone has, how did you change from bf to exclusively ff?

nixnoo · 04/09/2006 07:42

Welcome to Lanith and whitestar!

Kbaby, so glad things are improving... hang in there.

We are still having feeds every 2 hours, so was up 3 times during the night last night, just decided to stay up after the 6am feed. YAWN!!!!!

Sefton is definitely constipated now, poor fella. Am going to HV today to discuss this and the feeding.

I hate Mondays... DH goes back to work and I feel a biit lonely, also know there is a long week ahead of dealing with baby alone

Will try and rally up lunches with friends this week. Our local cinema does a parents with babies screening on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, so am going to see "Little Miss Sunshine" tomorrow.

Sorry, am waffling!
bye!

Have or are any of you getting the TB vaccine?

HumphreysCorner · 04/09/2006 09:52

Morning all

Welcome to whitestar too. Our group continues to grow

Sorry for all babies with reflux-Sophie not being so sick now-just small amounts at the moment.

kayzed-have read the thread. Surely the Dr can help-I really hope so. Be interesting to see what is said. I always use Avent teats with 2 holes as 1 is just not easy enough and 3 too fast. My HV said not to wind or hold a reflux baby much as it makes reflux worse and never lay them down after a feed.

nixno-is Sefton doubling up in pain or is he just not pooing. I give Sophie boiled water and it seems to help shift things.

Had to give in last night and make up a bottle as she was chewing away and obviously getting nothing and my nips couldn't take any more. Anyway, she reluctantly took 2oz but still had to give her a feed at 11pm to settle her-she woke at 6am which is good. I never get back to sleep after the 6am ish feeds.

My AF started yesterday properly-I thought you didn't get them when BF. Am on the mini pill but that shouldn't affect anything as there is no break.

Must go and dry my hair so will catch up later. DD1's first full day at nursery-well until 4pm.

Toodle pip

Just had a failure with my string test the girl turned out to be a boy!

Am officially never doing it again!

jom · 04/09/2006 10:52

nixnoo - my dd had the BCG (TB) jab at 10 days old as everyone i kept seeing kept telling me to do so as apparently its a problem where i live. no problems with it and a little mark has just appeared on her arm now (7 weeks tom). not looking forward to the big scab though, poor little thing.
