PS Tony sleeps in vest, baby gro and under a sheet and cell blanket. He hates his hands trapped so they do sometimes feel a bit cool, but I tuck the blankets under his little sides to prevent him kicking them off. Forgot i had a baby gro bag, I might fish that out for when it gets cooler......

Twirl · 30/08/2006 13:48

Jom - DS sleeps in a babygro and a 1 tog grobag and seems happy with this.

Leo sleeps in a vest and nightie, with a sheet and three blankets! It is cold up north - autumn is definitly here! I do have a baby sleeping bag, but I take him into our bed to feed him and am worried about him getting too hot (I often fall asleep while feeding so he stays in our bed for a few hours)

Wallace · 30/08/2006 17:59

Just had the HV round and Leo is 12lb 6oz ! I also put him on his front to show her how he lifts his head, and he rolled over He was on the sofa, so there was a slight slope, but he looked like he knew what he was doing!

maewest · 30/08/2006 19:26

Wallace that is one big boy!

Dom behaved really well at the hospital today, considering they were poking needles in him and prodding him to encourage him to pee in a cup. He's also put on weight really well and the paediatrician gave him a good looking at and didn't seem concerned at all about the jaundice (grr at hv). He's wriggling on the rug as I type and prob working on a good fart if I'm not much mistaken

also - we have just been given a lambskin for him to sleep on, anyone used one?

jom · 30/08/2006 19:35

thanks everyone re what your LOs are wearing to bed of a night - think i may need to put a warmer blanket on her!

Taking her to be weighed tomorrow. Does anyone get their LOs measured? In oz (with DS) they measured their length and head circumference as well as weighing them at every visit. Will speak to them about it tomorrow.

hope we all have a good night

jom · 30/08/2006 19:37

maewest - Amelia has a lambskin in her pram which is pre loved from DS

Jom - I wondered about the measurements as I assumed they would measure length/head circumference aswell but they don't where I live.

Took DS to the doctors this pm as he threw up in front of my mum and she agreed that it was different than the normal type of vomiting babies have - Dr thinks he has a tummy bug and that he will have the runs soon - apparently they start with vomiting and get the runs later - can't wait! Also, I have to feed him little and often as he is more likely to keep it down - so far so good as I have fed him 2-3 oz every 2 hours since this afternoon and no vomiting - fingers crossed!! Unfortunately I guess that is our uninterrupted sleep out the window for the next few nights - just hope he is ok.

HumphreysCorner · 30/08/2006 21:32

kayzed-being the v. laid back baby that she is the jabs did not affect her. She only winced when I touched the jab spot. Perhaps it has worn Roisin out-bless.

My HV weighed Sophie and also measured her head circ and length when she had her jab-maybe differs from area to area?

superblue-hops DS feels better soon.

Sophie sleeps in just a sleepsuit and I put a blanket over her and tuck the sides under but it is always kicked off by the morning. On a cool night I put a bodysuit on too.

Feel really tired so am having an early night. DH and I have been going to bed far too late even though I know I will be up sometime between 3 and 6 am. I'm as bad as you prettymum-lol!

At 9 weeks Sophie is not particularly impressed with the gym I used to put DD1 on-she prefers to sit in a rocker. In a moment of madness I thought it would be a good idea to buy a vibrating Baby Jungle rocker so bid on Ebay then changed my mind-I won the item so will now have two rockers. One ordinary and one vibrating.

Anyway, goodnight all.

Hiya all

Not posted for ages but love reading all yours!!

Eilidh is 4 weeks and 1 day today.Bf is going great and still really enjoying it.
I have never ever been able to express, don't know why, just can't do it somehow so i do all the feeds.Morning noon and night(and during the night too).I'm a little of all you getting some sleep and time away from the little ones lol.
This is my 3rd time of bf and no sleep so am used to it anyway.

I'm in Scotland and HV does measure head and length at the 6 week check up but my Hv will do it anytime she is asked to.

Waiting for ds1 to arrive home from his girlfriends house then off to bed.How do you do this dreamfeed thingy? Tried to do it last week and couldnt wake Eilidh to take a feed.Maybe she doesn't want one eh?

Nite nite all, hope you all have a good night's sleep xx

Morning ladies

Oh, bad, bad night as Sophie was up at 1am and them 5am. Perhaps it is something to do with the enormous poo she did at tea time-hence v. hungry. She was OK at the 1am feed but the 5am one was still going on at 6-30am so shattered. She just kept falling asleep then soon as I put her back to bed-wahhhhh!!! So laid her next to me and managed to shove a boob in her mouth so we could both be happy.

agalch-I have not left Sophie's side in 9 weeks and DH wouldn't do feeds even if I was using bottles. He said he doesn't want to break the bond between us and he knows I am joined at the hip with her

kayzed-sounds like it is going really well with Roisin. Does make life easier when they settle fairly easily My MIL thinks all babies should be rocked to sleep so I had to stop her with DD1 so I hope she has remembered this time. Although it will be a while before Sophie is left on her own with her.

usandbump-how is DP today? Hope all OK.

Bucketing it down with rain today-at least I won't have to water next door's pots. My friend from work is coming this afternoon so must run a duster over and to think I used to be like Hyacinth Bucket with my cleaning. Ahh, such distant memories.

Love to all

morning all, had a very good night, ds and i fell asleep on the couch at 10 pm and woke up at 6 in the morning, after a feed, back to sleep till 8!!feeling well rested and refreshed!!!!

kbaby · 31/08/2006 11:35

IamBlossom - Your ds sounds similar to mine, hes only quiet just after a feed. After about 10 mins hell start crying again and I have to wind, back rub, pace the living room until he stops. Either that or sometimes I think he may be hungry again so soon and I feed him where he promptly closes his mouth but still doesnt seem happy. Weve not tried DS on the play gym yet as DD would jump all over.

Prettymum that is so unfair.

I fed DS at 8pm and then he woke at 1.30am and Dh give him 4ozs ebm but he was wide awake after it so I ended up feeding him again at 2.45 then 7.30. Dh did tell me that he changed his nappy and had the light on full so maybe thats why ds was so awake.

DS seems to settle himself at night but can spend upto 1hr with eyes closed but groaning, during the day he wont just fall asleep.
During the evenings hes really unsettled and will cry off and on from 4 to 9pm wont be put down and you can only seem to comfort him for a few minutes before he starts again.

prettymum · 31/08/2006 12:04

i am with you kbaby, my ds wont settle between 4-9 in the evening so i end up stressing with getting dinner ready, feeding a demanding dd and her bedtime.

he only way i can put ds to sleep in the evening is to bf lying down with him and cant get any chores done!!!

iv got ds in my arms now, tried putting him to sleep 3 times, he's woken straight after each time! gonna have to take him out in the sling!!

kayzed-that happened with me when the thrush was bad. Passed her to DH so he could try giving her a bottle. Er, no chance. Once they smell that milk there is nothing else you can do. When I go out to lunch with my mum on a Wednesday I take some SMA and Sophie literally tries to eat through my top while waiting for the bottle to heat up. Which ever way I sit her on my knee she twists her head round. Feel upset then that I can't feed her myself but can't do it in a restaurant.

Wallace · 31/08/2006 16:33

Leo is also unsettled in the evening - usually from about 7 to 11. my hv said that new research has shown that babies tend to go through an unsettled phase and feed more in the evening when they are getting ready to sleep for longer periods at night. She said this helps parents look at the crying in a more positive light.

jom · 31/08/2006 16:36

i agree with you all - late afternoon/ early evenings are hard with a toddler and the LO. somedays its smooth sailing and others are a nightmare.....which will we have tonight???

HumphreysCorner · 31/08/2006 17:02

DD1 is at this moment having the biggest tantrum ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is shattered and have had to drag her to bed. Help!!!!!!!!!!

prettymum · 31/08/2006 17:58

my ds has started his crying, he falls asleep and starts crying 5 mins after a lie him down, my dd is in the room now about to do god knows what to him!! better go now before she gets in his cot!!

superblue · 31/08/2006 20:51

More advice (sorry - I know that is all i do !) - I can't remember who advised infant gaviscon for reflux (maybe girlinfrance ?? or anyone else?) - am I right in assuming that this has to be prescribed by the doctor and they will only do it if the baby is not putting on weight?
