Welcome nuria or holah! you have made me laugh. I can just visualise all the heads staring at you. Don't take offence at this (I'm sure you won't) but I call my DH's family The Mafia so I always tell everyone I am married to The Mob but you nearly are! Sophie my DD2 was born early on the 27th June so the same age as your DD1. Are you in the lovely Richmond in Surrey or Richmond in Yorkshire. If it is Richmond, Surrey I will be most of you.

Have just come back from the mother and baby swimming-it was ACE ! We sung nursery rhymes (didn't know half of them though ) and dunked them underwater. At one point we had to put this long thin float between our legs and do horsey, horsey. Ooh er missus-the ladies who took the class said 'yes, that is the amusing bit'. Well, me and my friends thought so. We went for a drink in the cafe after and my friends made me eat a 4 stick KitKat at 5 points . Better put my WW Bonus Buddy on and run up and down the stairs-not!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Byee for now.

koshka-good to see you back. Keep that chin up my sweet!

lori21 · 29/09/2006 13:12

Hi all, hope you all slept well. DS decided that after his early morning feed he was not going back to sleep so am feeling a little jaded today. It is so great to read some of the threads - made me smile with all the pooing and farting!!! When DS farts they certainly are noisy. If he is sat on my hip I can feel them vibrating!

For the list I am in the lovely Cotswolds near Cheltenham.

Swimming sounds fab - we are hoping to go next week with my mum for support.

My PIL are great, if a little louder, huggier and kissier than my parents. They live a fair distance away so we are going to see them in the half term. i am a little apprehensive as i do feel people judge me and my lo (even though i am sure they have better things to be doing)

we are using the nature baby nappies as well and find them OK but it stops me feeling guilty about landfill sites (on special offer from waitrse). still use pampers at night as they are so much better. i may try the tescos and boots ones though as my maternity pay is running out.

better dash i think lo has a present in his nappy for me

IamBlossom · 29/09/2006 14:28

Afternoon all. welcome all newbies.

I am using Tescos own for both DSs now. Much chearper now we have to buy two lots and seem just as good as Pampers. Not next week but week after i am cancelling all going out and potty training DS1 however, so hopefully nappies for him will be athing of the past. Fingers crossed. Dreading it, but am hopeful as he does something in the potty pretty much every time I ask him to sit on it so I think we are part way there already. Just need to crack it once and for all........

having a good day today, Toby is asleep in bouncer DS1 asleep upstairs. Went to our singing group this morning (Why is it always so hot in these places?) came home and played with DS1's toys and breastfed T, then let DS1 have his customoary lunchtime CBeebies after his lunch to quieten him down for his nap. Got to do Tescos later, i am sure you are finding this all riveting...

Really starting to fall into a pattern with Toby's eating and sleeping - have let him take the lead so far but now realise that he will go back to sleep at about 7am for an hour, and needs a decent lunchtime nap. His one bottle a day is offered at 4ish, sometimes he drinks it sometimes he doesn't, all the rest is BF, so I am pleased I have persevered so far. leaking is much less too, none at all last night...

He has a cold though, which seems to come out at night only - tres strange. Snuffles and sneezes and chokes and coughs for hours on end. Impossible to sleep through.

havea good weekend everybody.

so sorry, humphreys, but we do live in Richmond Surrey. It is really nice, we moved only five months ago and we love it, much more child friendly than where we used to live (Islington).
We have to do a clan war in between the two mafias !
My DH is also going to take our DD to swimming lessons, everybody is telling me how much fun they are.
And talking about farting my DD does massive farts as well. The other day I was at the Virgin Store and she was attached to me on the Baby Bjorn. Suddently she farted really really loud. The guy that was helping me look at me (obviously he didnt took into consideration that such a noise could've been cause by the tiny baby) I though about telling him that it had been my DD but tknew that was going to worse things even more. I run out of the store and will never go inside again!
P.S. Lets feel guilty together, I've just eaten a Green and Blacks Icecream

HumphreysCorner · 29/09/2006 15:04

nuria
My uncle used to live in Whitton near Twickenham so every year from aged 7 until I had DD1 (so about 27 years)we went to stay with him in December to go Christmas shopping in Kingston and always went to the White Cross pub in Richmond for a delicious pub lunch. My uncle has now moved to Brighton so have very fond memories of the place.

Whereabouts in Spain did you live (if you ever lived in Spain that is)? about Spain as it is lovely there too.

TearingMyHairOut · 29/09/2006 15:46

I've only just realised these post-natal threads exist. My ds1 was born 11th july 2006 so is nearly 12 weeks old now. Nothing prepared me for the last twelve weeks! I live in Cornwall.

lori21 · 29/09/2006 16:15

Welcome tearingmyhairout. I know how that feels. I've always worked with children but having a newborn is nothing compared to that and no matter how many people tell you that it will change your life you are still not prepared! Worth it though hey

nuria - your story made me laugh out loud - good job I have only a sleeping lo for company

bloss - try not to worry about potty training, all the parents I know have said that if you are quite casual about it then it is easier - I've not been through it though so it may be easier said than done! I wish my ds was like yours for sleeping. He has 30 mins (approx.) about 2 hours after all the day time feeds until about 5pm when he refuses to nap. Those naps are labour intensive for me though but I get a lot done in 30 mins! My lo is just the same with his cold. A few sneezes in the day but struggles with coughs and snuffling through the night.

For nicknames my lo gets called monster, monkey, monster magic, monkey magic, munchkin (lots of mmms really even though his name begins with an e!) I also all him a dingle dangle scarecrow due to his flippy floppy head (from the song) and when talking about him we sometimes refer to him as 'the boy' When he was born I called him my little tree frog as he has big eyes and due to being breech had his legs bent, spread eagled, and rather high up. The photos are quite rude - good job he wasn't a girl!

Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep and had a good day

nuria · 29/09/2006 16:15

Humphreys, I was born in Galicia (beautiful part of Spain, unknown to tourist) and spent half my life there. Then I moved to Italy and spent twelve years there, mainly in Milan (where I met the Sicilian ). Our DD will go to the Spanish Nursery in Fullham but hopefully will learn all three languages.
I dont know the White Cross pub, though. Where about is it?
Also, such a coincidence our babies were born the same day! How many children do you have?
Tearingmyhairout, it is hard, isn't it! My DD is 13 weeks and I still haven't managed to create a routine...everyday is a different battle!
BTW, really about Cornwall!!

prettymum · 29/09/2006 16:27

Hello all

Big welcome to all the new mummies

I haven't read all the messages just grabbing 5 mins (we have visitors tomorrow and I should be doing the housework!) I hope everyone is well, I haven't been on for a few days because I've had a bit of a 'wobble'! Zack has slept terribly for 2 weeks now and it all became too much and I had a bit of a meltdown

I have spent alot of time sobbing and feeling generally useless. Dp has been great and took some time off work so I could rest up in between feeds.
It hit me all of a sudden, I couldn't cope when Zack was crying and I just wanted to run away Then I was terrified I was getting pnd and maybe I am but after my restful couple of days I am feeling hugely better. Dp went back to work today and I made myself go into town and it was great!
If it comes again I'm going to go to the gp and try and get some help quickly, I have never felt so low.

Zack still won't take the bottle, I think it would really help if he would because I could have some time to myself occasionally. Yesterday I did join the gym at the hotel opposite us, so I can easily pop out for an hour and have a good work out and 'me' time.

Zack doesn't seem to be getting over his cold and it is affecting his weight gain, he is now 11lb at 10 wks but should be 12lb 9oz if he had continued to gain as he had for the first 8 wks.

Sorry all doom and gloom here but I am feeling better!

nuria · 29/09/2006 17:50

hi kayzed! trieste is really lovely. isn't it?, sorry to hear abou the crying during therapy. do you think this third session was useful?
usandbump, do keep positive, it's a though thing being mum, we are all heroes !

superblue · 29/09/2006 19:44

Welcome Nuria

Usandbump - glad you are feeling better now - sending you lots of hugs. I bet we have all had a 'wobble' since July!

Am off on holiday tomorrow without Internet access (aah!) so speak to you all in a week.

X

PS How much stuff can one lo need?? The boot of DH's car will be jampacked by the time we have finished - can now see why people with kids buy people carriers

HumphreysCorner · 29/09/2006 19:55

usandbump-don't apologise hun. It is hard sometimes but you are doing a brilliant job. Don't forget the Dr if you feel low again.

Welcome to TearingMyHairOut-excellent name by the way .

nuria-The White Cross is right on the Thames next to a slipway where boats are put in the water. If you stand on Richmond Bridge you can see it and can get to it by cutting down a narrow street off the main town centre. The road infront of it regularly floods so you shouldn't park your car there or it might float away

prettymum-doh! at your friend cancelling. It is sluicing it down here so I'm pleased to be staying in.

Sophie has just done her weekly poo so perhaps the farts will stop! I think the chlorine has helped shift things.

Going to have an early night as last night she was up for an hour and a half and just wouldn't settle-I think she is getting too big to sleep in her pram carrycot.

Fed up with one handed typing so will say sweet dreams one and all.

maewest · 29/09/2006 20:03

Hey - what a chatty thread today. Hi to nuria and tearingmyhairhout

usandbump - hugs to you, you know that sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture? Looking after a little babe is physically and emotionally hard work and sounds like you're being a great mum, just everything is harder if you're not getting enough sleep.

Dom had more blood tests today and screamed the place down (hopefully the last for now), luckily had the magic boobs and he calmed right down . Oh, and MIL now not arriving until tomorrow morning...

IamBlossom · 29/09/2006 20:58

maewest, will PIL expect you to keep your LO up all night so they can see him? just kiding, but feel for all you girls that have nightmare PIL. I only have MIL and she is a dreamboat.

Thanks Lori re potty training, am being relaxed as possible about it, and so far so good, just need to devote some serious time to it, rather than expect him to "get it" while we run from toddle craft to singing group.

Usanbump big big hugs to you sweetheart. Sounds like you have had a rough time of it, we are always here to offer some virtual positivity if you need it, you are doing BRILLIANTLY!

Night

JeanieG · 30/09/2006 00:43

Hi all,

Not been on for a while as have had a really sh**ty time during the last two weeks. I have felt really tired, low and unable to cope properly with everything. I had a mirena coil fitted (safe whilst BF) two weeks ago and have bled ever since. This cannot be a good thing surely. Not only that but I feel like a proper fatty. I know I shouldn't worry about it but I can't seem to help it.

My DH has also not filled in his tax forms and they need to be in today, so guess where they have landed. On my desk. I really feel like packing a bag and taking the kids to my dads for a while.

Oh yeah, and we are also decorating the house STILL and I am just so F**KED off with the whole lot of it.

I am soooooo sorry for going on but I am really very tired, fed up and pissed off with everything.

Hi to all the lovely new ladies and your babies as well.

Love ya all

Jeanie

Forgot to add, Abbey is not a happy bunny either. She is full of cold and the doc has now put her on antibiotics to try and shift it.

agalch · 30/09/2006 07:27

Morning girls

Welcome new newbies tearingmyhairout and nuriaAnd anyone i may have missed out.

Well took Eilidh up for her 1st set of jabs on Thursday, and because she hasn't had her 6 week check we had to wait and see the doctor to sign the consent forms. So that took a good 45 mins grrrr.

He noticed that she had a small sniffle and said no jabs for her today.Glad he said that now as shes really sniffly, would have felt awful if she'd had them and been really illSo her jabs are going to be done in 3/4 weeks.

No idea about her 6 week check but shes 9 weeks on Tuesday.Has anyone else's not had their check done?

Chester,i am on maternity allowence too,are you off for the full 6 months.I am taking 6 months for sure and have to get some minded kids by January so fingers crossed.
I am exclusivly bf(have done twice before) and will bf as long as she wants to.Have managed to collect some milk so am defrosying today and am buying a bottle so dp or my mum can try her.But none of my other 2 bf lo's took a dummy or bottle so i don't think Eilidh will either but will give it a bash.

I am planning to get dd1 out of nappies in the october break when dp is off for work for a weeks holiday.

We did the DEED the other night and it was bloody great.i'd had 2 glasses(small) of wine and both girls were asleep.Forgot how nice it was to actually do it without a huge big bump so i think i'll be doing it a lot more hee hee.

Jeanieg, sweetheart havn't had a coil ever but i would go back to docs asap as that def can't be right.Maybe you should try and get a break, maybe at your dad's? Oh and tell your dh to take a hike with his tax form, god they expect a lot these men eh?

Anyhow dd2 stirring so gotta go but take care all you ladies xx

nixnoo · 30/09/2006 09:05

morning!
welcome to the new folk! There must be about 30 of us now!!!
Every night is just getting better with DS now. He slept from 9:30 to 2:30, fed, then 3:00 to 7:45!!!! I know it isn't as good as a lot of your darling LO's but I am thrilled! Not to mention rested.

Usandbump and JeanieG, glad you have come out the other side. There have been a few times when I have felt that I was not coping. The other night DS SCREAMED for over an hour (and we were out, so I had people staring at me like I was abusing him). I have never heard him scream like that: obvious pain. I ended up calling NHS direct who took half an hour to tell me to take him home (what??? shouldn't I just keep him out? radical!!! I was waiting for his screaming to subside before subjecting him to public transport, enough to tip anyone over the edge) and implied I was a neurotic first time mum. VERY condescending "awwww, it is hard, isn't it?" grrrrrr

Went to see this FABULOUS nursery yesterday, but it is quite ££££££££, will need to up my rates to pay for it!

LOVE Saturdays, get to potter aroubd doing family stuff and DH will take him for a few hours so I can visit a girlfriend

Going to go do "excercises" with DS now, he loves it when I put him on his front: lifts his head and tries to shimmy along and CHATS! very cute

x

HumphreysCorner · 30/09/2006 09:09

Jeanie-how dare your DH put any more pressure on you He is going to have to do it himself or face the consequences. I know that when you feel low you are sometimes not able to fight back are you?

Have heard some coils can result in lots of bleeding. A girl I worked with only had about 9 clear days a month to start with-not sure but I think she may have had it taken out in the end. Can you not have the injections if you don't want to take the Pill? Maybe go back and see the Dr?

Hope Abbey is feeling better soon.

agalch-lucky you having a successful 'deed'. DH is after trying it again but I'm a bit put off.

My bl**dy washer has packed up again which is just no good with all these children, especially sicky 13 week old ones. Sophies initials are SIC-so sick by name and sick by nature

Taking DD1 dancing this morning so better press on. Have a good day ladies.
