evening girls.

Welcome Splat! Love the name Reuben.

KZ, I call Toby, Toblerone (eh? Wah? Who's got choc on the brain? ) and all the cutesy names I call DS1 like Sweet cheeks, Angel face, baby cakes, pickle bum etc etc. In fact DS1 rarely gets called Harry unless I am saying "Harry! NOOOOO!"

1st@40, champagne reception, now you're talking...

KZ and Splat, this reflux number sounds awful, how unbeleivably frustrating to have such a palaver during feeding time, when it has to happen so often! Hope it settles down.

Pink Dolly, know what you mean about feeling half naked all the time. Toby feeds like clockwork in the night, 1.15am, 5am and then again when we all wake up, From then on it's a couple of times in the morning and then from 3pm onwards it's as many times as I am prepared to let him, culminating in a feeding frenzy between 6-8pm. So I now give him a bottle of formula about 7pm, which he drinks most if not all of regardless of how often he has eaten in the afternoon, and then sleeps from 8 till 1am. Not sure how much longer I can keep the breastfeeding up for TBH, I am seriously wavering........

My sister is doing partly "She who cannot be named" techniques with her LO aged 4 days older than Toby. She is a first time mum and between me and you oh internet chums, she is doing my head in a bit. She talks about NOTHING but her DD, when she ate, when she sleeps, how many burps she got from her at the last winding session, what she is wearing, where she got it from, how she slept, do I do this? do I do that? if not why not etc etc etc. I never say anything cos it is just new mumitus and I'm sure i was just as bad when DS1 was born (was I? Surely not...DH says no) but I must admit I try and move onto other topics as often as possible, as otherwise i think I'd go mad! i mean don't get me wrong I am loving being a SAHM and life let's face it is child dominated, but I like to talk about other things too sometimes........anyhoo, sure she'll calm down about it soon, it's quite sweet really, considering she was the biggest party animal 10 months ago...

Speaking of party animals, here we are at 8.50pm on a Saturday night, and I am drinking tea and eating bikkies in my PJs whilst on Mumsnet and waiting for Afterlife to come on telly. ROCK AND ROLL!

Ciao for now lovelies.

Hi all,
Welcome Splat!

Went out for the first time properly last night - my neighbour babysat - and I swear her knew I was going!?!? He was really clingy all day and deeply unhappy in the early evening, I have never heard him cry like that. Was determined to get out tho, as all was in place.. so fighting back tears I left when he drifted off to sleep. apparently he was OK, only woke once. I only went out for 3 hours (has a raspberry caiparinhia tho hmmmmmmmmmm) and when I go tback he woke 10 mins later! And then to punish me he woke up EVERY HOUR the rest of the night, until I got up at 8am having finally realised it was futile. I want to make him a t-shirt that says "sleep is fof the weak"!

I think he is starting to teethe too!
I can see a little white dot under the surface of his gum, at the front.

lol, Kayzed, about pet names... we seldom call him Sefton.... he is mainly called "wriggle pot", "monkey poo" and "punky moo"!!!

on that note.....

Have good sat nights, peaceful sleeping all round I hope!

Hi all, I hope you don't mind me joining this thread but we are only just back on the internet after moving house. I spent the first weeks of my lo life feeding, sleeping, eating and packing boxes.

My ds (my first!) was born on 4th July by c-section (cos he was breech) weighing 8lb 11oz. Had a nightmare in hospital with breastfeeding - still feel quite traumitised about it all but really need to get past it as I'm still breastfeeding and ds is gaining weight and growing well.

Sleeps Ok at night (usually about 6hours followed by about 3 hours) In the day a different story. After 3 weeks of constant feeding and crying and not sleeping I realised that my ds was tired not hungry. He was not going to fall asleep after a feed like he used to do and was not going to sleep when out on a walk but instead I was going to have to do something to help him sleep. This involves a vibrating chair, the sounds of the sleep, me rocking him and the hoover! Sometimes all of the above, sometimes just one or two! Now we have more of a routine with sleep, feed, play every 3 hours or so and I am feeling more human.

I have tried reading back through the thread and will try and read through again to get an idea of who everyone is but it is so nice to read about people having exactly the same problems as myself and feeling very fortunate that I am not facing the same problems as other people.

Hope everyone had a good day today and has a good sleep tonight. DS is asleep but DH is round at our new neighbours getting drunk!

Hi all
I'm back! feel much better now, other than the 2 huge spots that have appeared on my chin (bloody stress and stray hormones ) Logan has been more settled today. We did go back to the hospital on thursday and he needed both casts changed it was the worst I've seen him his heels were so sore he was actually sweating with the pain .

They have slipped again but not so much so I'll just wait till tuesdays appointment can't put him through anymore this week.

I'm completly ff now, Logan could not get comfy to bf and kept pulling off he now won't latch on at all. I was feeding him half and half any way but its still disapointing and my boobs hurt lots atm.

On the plus side I'm going out for the first time on friday so can have a nice drink or 4 and it is mine and dhs 9th wedding anniversary on thurs so might get a nice pressie and he might even want to do the 'deed' he says he is too scared of making more babies. Well if he'd gone to docs last december when I told him to he wouldn't have to worry!

We call Logan 'chicken george' dh started it (from a film or something) and its kind of stuck it sort of suits him though.

I live in Rugby, in the midlands but I don't know how to put myself on the list.

Anyway happy sleeping everyone, me and the babe are of to bed

whitestar · 23/09/2006 21:58

Hi lori, welcome!!!

lori21 · 24/09/2006 10:48

Oh whitestar I can't imagine what you are going through. I find it hard to watch anything involving children who are poorly on tele let alone coping when it is your own. My ds has had a little cold and that was bad enough. Good to hear Logan has been more settled though and fingers crossed for Tuesday.

I've started expressing some milk for the future but have no idea how much lo drink. What is a good amount to freeze?

DS had a good nights sleep but DH came home legless and was sick on the bathroom floor. I felt like I had two babies to look after!

HumphreysCorner · 24/09/2006 20:11

Evening ladies

Welcome to lori21 and splat-the more the merrier

I call Sophie Sophie Bel or LulaBel or Sophie Bellous or Moneychops or Poppet or Pudding-the list is endlessssssss!!!!!

whitestar-hope things settle down soon. Good luck with 'the deed' and Happy Anniversay.

Have been for a long walk today and DH took us over lumpy terrain so now exhausted as I am soooo unfit

Have bid and won a laptop on Ebay-must be mad as we can't really afford it but hey, the deed is done. At least I won't have to fight DH for his. Am worrying though if I will ever receive it now I have paid the money-the seller didn't have PayPal so there is no comeback.

I know this isn't a telly thread but Bloss-did you watch last weeks Afterlife? If so, the Taxi that Alison got in was damaged-was it the one which killed Sasha and who was the girl in the back seat and were any of them alive????? I did ask on the telly thread but nobody replied.

Got to go now so will catch up tomorrow. Love to all.

xxx

P.S. Love the new [hmmm] Very me-lol!

hey all
welcome lori and splat

got ds on my legs at the moment, he just had a cat na\p and is now looking at me trying to get me to talk to him.

had a very nice day today, went to dps aunts house for dinner. managed to leave dc for a few hours and went shopping with dps cousin which was nice.

have to go, ds now getting irritated, needs to go to sleep!!

maewest · 25/09/2006 09:00

Morning all, feeling wonderful this morning (isn't it amazing what a bit of sleep will do?). Dom fed at 7pm and settled down for the night, I went to bed at 9pm and he didn't wake until 1am, feed & quick nappy change, went straight back down sucking his thumb and didn't wake again until 5am for a feed. Woohoo!

We call Dominic many things - Dom, Minidom, Chicken Licken (my mum used to call me this), Chunky Monkey, Choochie Face, the list is endless . He has his jabs tomorrow, and more blood tests on Friday (bah!), so we're hoping to go into town today to buy a birthday pressie for DH, bit misty here at the mo tho...

take care y'all

IamBlossom · 25/09/2006 10:37

mooooooooorniiiiiiiiiing.

Work just rang my mobile, I didn't answer it, GO AWAAAAY. Going to have to face them at some point to say i am taking another 6 months (not telling them I am not coming back at all yet so I can sell my shares when black out period ends next Feb) but can't be bothered to speak to anyone at all yet.

DS1 at nursery, just been to docs to get mini pill and pile cream - I am a 31 year old mum of two then used to present to room fulls of people at a time and still go red at the doctors. Ridiculous. His fault for telling me to take the pill 4 hours before bedtime, the usual time most couples make luuuuurve. Then decided to describe to me how piles form and asked me in detail how soft my bowel movements were. Trouble is the minute you start blushing it just gets worse and worse doesn't it? RIDICULOUS!

had a very busy weekend, went to DH's family for the day yesterday and spent the WHOLE afternon feeding Toby, and he still had a full bottle of formula when we got in so I am going to introduce another one for after lunch, but maintain BF for nights and mornings. Getting fed up with having to plonk DS1 in front of the telly so I can keep up woth Toby and also shouting at DS1 to stop doing the things he always does when I am stuck feeding, like rip all his newly ironed t-shirts out of his drawers and pull Toby's cot toys of for the 75th time.

HC - During that Afterlife, i was doing rapid return with DS1 in his first night in his new bed, so didn't catch the pertinent parts of the story I'm afraid so can't really help. The upshot was that they were all dead, they just didn't know it (very 6th Sense) and the girl was haunting Alison for her to tell them they were dead so they could be freed to "passover"....did you watch it on Saturday night, I was terrified!

KZ, I always laugh when I read your posts with your antipodean phrases - ie, morning tea, crook etc. My mum is Aussie, from Adelaide, and two of my dad's siblings have married Aussies's too. I have an Australian passport and have been there many times, and I do a mean South Australian accent.

Now, shall I go for a long walk in the misty wet, or shall I curl up with Toby, a bikkie and a cuppa, and This Morning...... Tough one.....

PS. Hi Lori. x

nixnoo · 25/09/2006 11:06

morning!

Had a bit of sleep for a change last night - yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Isn't it sweet when you see them do new things? We woke up yesterday morning to hearing him chatting away to the dog toy on his cot, reaching out and grabbing it's paw and pulling!

We have all come such a long way since the moaning about our swollen feet thread!

Happy Mondays

Bloss-isn't work just soooooooo annoying. Dreading my Manager ringing again. Did watch Afterlife-ooh, twas v. good.

Glad to hear some of you are getting more of that glorious sleep. We overslept this morning and woke up at 8am (the time DD1 should be at nursery) The alarm went off for DH at 7am and I switched it off thinking he would hear it and get up as usual-not today though. Anyway, had to jump out of bed and dress DD1 and jump in the car. Poor DD1 had to drink her milk in the car. I didn't have time to shower or eat breakfast which has put me out of step somewhat-had my cereal at 10-30am. DH normally takes her on a Monday-hoping he isn't going to get any ideas about me taking her in future .

Have got my pedomter out and my WW book and Calculator Database. Have already had 11 points today so only 9 left Got 2 Xmas dinners to go to so must be a tad thinner by then. Am sweating dreadfully all the time and (TMI warning) am farting like a trouper and pooed for 10 mins last night-it wouldn't stop! Must lose weight, must lose weight, must lose weight...........

Raining like mad here so not able to walk anywhere today. Sophie desperate for lunch so better go and oblige.

Love to all

Think I'll be the only BFeeder on the thread-lol! (Like Little Britain )

Work has just rung but luckily only one of the girls inviting me out to tea on Thursday, can't make it anyway but not ready to leave Sophie with anyone yet. When she rang she said don't worry I'm not ringing you to ask you to work so I said that's OK because I'm not. She said I'll see you soon then so I said yes, at the Xmas Dinner (23rd Dec). Sat shaking even though it wasn't my Manager.

HI

Welcome Lori and Splat

KZ - I can imagine it must be frustrating that the health professionals brush you off.

HV just been to visit for me to fill in a PND questionnaire - what a load of rubbish as the questions were really obvious!! She weighed him and he is now 11 10 - another 7oz gain in 4 days - porker!!

Had his 1st set of jabs today - I didn't realise that they did 2 together!! Anyway. he was really brave and just whinged a little when they pushed the stuff in. Plus touch wood, no reaction so far.

Nicknames - little prince, stinky bum, JL, cutie pie... the best one before his operation was (his middle name is Luke) Pukey Lukey which DH christened him!

Reassuring to hear other people are having 'work' problems - I am going to a briefing tomorrow so they can unveil the new structures for the new organisation - at last I should know if I will have a job to go to and where it will be based. Bit nervous as leaving DS for the first time for more than 1 hour - am I the only one who has been pretty much permanently with their lo??? Starting to think I am an over-protective mother which I never thought I would be.

splat · 25/09/2006 16:56

Hi guys
Quick message - as have been back to hospital with DS so told to feed little and often - which DS thinks is great, just as he started to get out of the habit of waking up after every nap routing around like he hadnt been fed for a week!

My nicknames are Ruby Booby, Rubenstein, Booby boo, Bubby bubsten from Bubstenville, Boobelle, Chunky monkey ....to name but a few!

Reflux seems worse than ever even after 1 hour of being upright, plus only 3/4 of normal feed DS still managed to bring it all back up - im soooo tempted to try and catch it one day - just to see if he really does bring it all back!! Has anyone attempted to do that!?!

Signing off now for yet another bottle - feels like im breast feeding all over again with this cluster feeding episode!

janenevie · 25/09/2006 17:52

Still bf here too (altho my babe is one of the youngest, just squeaking in as a July baby). Going pretty well. He usually sicks a little after most daytime feeds, but doesn't seem to bother him and he's gaining weight so not too worried. We have a bath boob and bed routine - I put him down in his crib an hour ago, but DH has been up and down trying to settle him since, he's not really upset, just wide awake. Wonder what tonight will bring...

superblue · 25/09/2006 20:29

Splat - I tried to catch DS vomiting when he was ill to see how much he bought up (and also to try and save on the washing - me and DH got quite good at by the time he had his operation - we used a plastic bowl that had measurments up the side and he was bringing it all back (but now we know there was a reason for that) - plus he was retching 3 or 4 times each time so it made it easier to catch - is your lo retching or does it dribble out?

Change of plan for tomorrow - the briefing has been cancelled at work as 'they are not ready' to unveil their plans - why write to all staff with details of these meetings and not make sure everything is ready??? Seems a bit of a shambles to me and the waiting goes on..........

Jane - good tohear from you.

Pinkdolly - whereabouts in Cornwall? I am coming down this weekend for a weeks holiday and would really appreciate any ideas about what things there are to do with a 11 week old baby??
