Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

OP posts:

Diege · 08/09/2006 12:30

Hi everyone . Oh CHACHA, your post did make me smile (sorry!); just brought back lots of memories of trying to keep lo's occupied when they are intent on running down everything in their path! Remember with dd1 trying the old pan and wooden spoon routine (yeah, really nice background noise)while I tried to get things done, but have to admit it's usually L's siblings who keep her occupied while I run around like a headless chicken! A baby with a mouth full of haribos and a baby bjorn cardi half on/off is a small price to pay . Sounds like you're doing really well actually - still think it's important to organise those little treats - works for me every time
Hey RODEO don't mind if if steal your 'Jemima' again then!! ; oh I don't know, funny how I get so anxious over what will probably be a slim chance of happening!! (ie. dd4) Wow, very impressed with your family's alternative health record!! Have heard Reiki is excellent too; my mum found it pretty good after her stroke .
Glad you had a good night LONDONER, makes things much easier to cope with! How many more days coughing left do you think? Probably best not to add them up!
Well, have just cleaned out the airing cupboard - not a job I would do again!! Now actually have to get some 'work' done 'from home' ; a slow start I know...
Speak later!

Rodeo · 08/09/2006 14:51

Afternoon,
What a lovely day Trying to fill the hours until I can go and get Joe seems very strange and quiet him not being around. And Jess is bored rigid with just me for company! Have just been out to get her some shoes, got those little soft 'cruiser' ones from Clarks, they're a teeny size 3 and so cute!
Diege, of course you can 'steal' it LOL I won't be using it now! Though it's quite a nice name for a pony, so maybe in a few years
Chacha, LOL at Z's antics, Jess is a little hoover, any thing she can find is crammed in her mouth! I am very ashamed to say when I got to school yesterday, I turned round to see her drop a penny from out of her mouth Gulp! And I've had to settle her off 3 times for her afternoon nap as she keeps lobbing her bottle out of her cot then crying because she needs it! What a madam! Have you recovered from yesterday? Sounded like the beginning of a migrane, you poor thing February's not long away either! When is your scan? Must be soon
Londoner, glad you got a good night, at last Hope things carry on improving
Well trying to waste a bit of time, waiting for 3.20 to come, just seen the MN xmas meet thread, there's loads of MNetter going, it looks great and I'm really tempted! Haven't put my name down yet though but Nova and Bob have. Hmmmm...
Sounds like the bottle has been thrown out again, she's not going to get much of a nap now, we've got to leave in half an hour. She's going to be a cranky so and so later!

tessasmum · 08/09/2006 15:59

Arrrggghhhhhh!!!! Sick bug here
Ash has never really been sick before, he's only ever done an occasional spit-up. He is NOT impressed!!

Brownie - so sorry to hear about your Grandad, he sounds like a wonderful man and I'm sure his star will shine brightly for you.

Welcome to Babyboo. Ash was 10mths yesterday so yours and mine must be close. I also have a 3 1/2 yr old who was delighted to be going back to pre-school yesterday. Think the novelty of the builders had worn off tho she spent every second out there with them last week.
Thanks for asking about the work BEKS. It seems to be going well tho I'm sure we were told it would take 2 weeks and we have just finished Week 3! I'm just REALLY glad they aren't in the house, don't know how you are coping with that.

Londoner - glad there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel re whooping cough. It is a horrible cough isn't it? Great admiration coping with 4 ill at the same time, its the first time I've had them both ill and its not fun!

ChaCha/Nova - hope sickness isn't still awful. I know that 'one-upmanship' game Nova, they always think they have it worst

Rodeo - think I might go to Christmas meet-up too though haven't done anything about it. There will be space on our living room floor if you fancy 'camping,

Better go, floppy boy on my lap getting restless.
Love to anyone not mentioned

browniechick · 08/09/2006 16:09

Hello all, just a quick note whilst at work!
Think we might go and get some shoes for Thomas this weekend! My fil and his wife have said they will buy all his shoes for the first 5 years (as they did with her grandchildren!) which is lovely! Am quite excited, not sure whether to go Clarks or Startrite! Ooh the dilemma!
Rodeo, your comments about Jess and her afternoon nap made me smile! Think Thomas has given up on his now! He sleeps for a good hour or so in the mornings, but doesn't seem interested in a nap in the afternoon - oh well!

Not looking forward to Tuesday but at least have stopped crying for now! think will feel much better after Tues - is that how you were Rodeo?

I don't mind whether we meet 1st or 2nd weekend in October - Beks - are there any weekends you could make? GG how are things with you at the moment?

Take care all, off to clear out my Grandads room at the home tonight and then having fish and chips for tea !

Will try and get on again over the weekend,

Brownie
xx

Diege · 10/09/2006 07:09

Morning!! Where is everyone, I've been up for hours!! . dh has taken dd1 camping, so no respite here after L's 5.30 start. Feeling better after my cuppa though .
Hope you are all having lovely weekends and enjoying the good weather (and just after I'd put all the summer things into the loft, whinge whinge!!)
Love to all,
Diege

Rodeo · 10/09/2006 21:42

Yes, where is everybody?!
Diege, ooh 5.30? Have you managed to sneak in a quick nap? How was the camping expedition?
Haven't got much news here. Had a nice weekend, my mum had her balloon ride yesterday and it was lovely weather for it. She went over Chatsworth House which was a highlight And today we've had a lazing in the garden day, had the paddling pool out, and the dinghy(!) But Jess wouldn't have her afternoon nap so was a howling wreck by 6pm. And she split the inside of her top lip by falling on the corner of the coffee table (owww!) this morning, poor thing.
Some friends visited today with their 2 dds (one's nearly 3 and the other is 5 months). Nearly threw the 5 month old over my shoulder she was so light! And the 3 year old is so funny, I'm used to boys now, but better get used to the fact that little girls aren't as easily fobbed off as boys ME 'Come on now, let's go downstairs, you can show your daddy your picture' HER 'No' ME 'Well I think you're going in a minute, let's go downstairs and I'll keep these here for you for next time' HER 'No'. LOL! Need to work on new strategies I think.
Brownie, did T get his new shoes? Hope things go well on Tuesday and it's not too sad, we'll be thinking of you
Right better go, get uniforms ready for the morning! Speak tomorrow x x x

novadandypowder · 11/09/2006 10:24

Diege - I've packed all the summer stuff away too, although noo is now too big to fit into most of it so no point bringing it back out.

Well as you can tell I didn't go to New York in the end, which left my friend really disappointed, but I just couldn't have done it.

Londoner - I didn't find the homeopathic rememdies did anything. In fact I was actually sick whilst sucking one of the pills, so gave up. Will start reflexology next week though as I'll be heading into the second trimester (woo-hoo). It's so annoying that you can only have it as a treatment for MS after 12 wks when you really need it in the early stages.

BEKS - where are you, we need a rain dance please, I can't be dealing with this hot weather.

Noo has become a super speedy crawler and laughs as she whizzes along. She's managed to get the cats tails on a few occasions which always cracks me up. She's trying very hard to stand up, but will not let you help her. She's a very independent woman!

Diege - any update on L's rolling abilities?

Have found a cure for MS - chocolate!! If I eat it first thing in the morning (you do not want to know how I discovered this) then I'm not sick .

Diege · 11/09/2006 10:49

Morning! Sounds like your mum had a great time on her balloon trip RODEO lol at your 'negotiating' tactics with friend's dd - always so different with 'other people's children' too, as I found out in Portugal! (don't ask!)Oh meant to say L has her first shoes too, size 3F, so cute, and much nicer than the old navy ones Clark's used to do.
NOVA: gosh your pregnancy stories really bring it back for me, esp. being sick when taking so-called anti-nausea remedies!! My fave was the old 'morning well' CD, always guaranteed to bring up contents of stomach within 2 mins . Noo sounds lots of fun- agree this age is lovely. I think L has missed out the rolling stage; she's crawling backwards, and bottom shuffling, and also trying to pull herself up; gets very cross and lashes out when I try to help her too . Am putting full fat cow's milk on her cereal from today, just waiting now till 12 months so we can make the swop for bottles too - oh the relief not to have to make up bottles
Camping trip for J went well RODEO; although she was really cold in night, despite all sorts of covers. Building up to us all going, though maybe wait till spring now .
Right, best get some work done
Diege

Rodeo · 11/09/2006 17:08

Afternoon!
Just a quick post before tea
LOL at these independant babies lashing out! Jess hates being picked from the stairs, the stairs are her favourite! And I think we may be getting teeth soon, noticed some little white lines under her gum, she may get teeth before shes 1 after all!
Glad the camping went well Diege, seem to remember when dp took Bella she ended up freezing too! Ah, new shoes! Jess is 3F too, which did you get? We've probably got the same!
Shame you couldn't make NY Nova, but if you're too ill it would have been horrible. Maybe next time
Went to see L&Smum in town today, which was nice. Seth looks much more grown up than Jess with his teeth and curly brown locks, and such a handsome chap!
Anyway, better check on tea, speak later x

browniechick · 11/09/2006 18:15

Hi, just a quick post from me!
Not looking forward to tomorrow - focussing on Wednesday now!
Think we have the last pictures ever taken of Grandad! with Thomas, about 1½ weeks before he went into hospital but too! )23/7 they were taken!) and they are gorgeous! of both of them, G looked soo well int hem too, but he is at peace with the Angels now!

We have got his shoes!!!! he has tiny feet at the moment though - 2½F, and the cruising range in Clarks doesn't start till a size 3! so he had to have some crawlers! (but they are gorgeous).

Brief update:
Teeth - we are now getting around 4+teeth on the top! (yep - all at the same time ! at least 3 that I can see have broken through, not sure if any more on the bottom yet)
Crawls everywhere - and is very stroppy if he doesn't get his own way! Loves to stand, jump around, fall over onto his bottom (that's what they are for we keep saying!) - no tears! - and is very much a cruiser now! he will pull up using the settee, then tentatively take one hand off and look at me!

Better, go, looks like we will have a nice Thunder storm in a moment!

Probably won't get on till Weds now, what with funeral and first night back at Brownies!!

love to all,

B

Beksmum · 11/09/2006 19:15

Evening girls

Brownie sending you hugs for tomorrow, hope it all goes as well as can be expected.

Nova, considerate the dance done, reckon we'll have rain tomorrow, if not I'll keep trying. Shame you didn't get to NY but that long a flight with morning sickness would have been horrendous. Still means you can shop twice as much when you do eventually get there. Loving the idea of chocolate before breakfast - didn't realise it wasn't allowed

Diege impressed with dh taking the girls camping - my dh wouldn't know one end of the tent from the other, we did talk about getting one but I'm not a roughing it kind of girl

We might be able to make Stratford after all as the builders will still be with us so won't venture away for a whole weekend, reckon a long day away will be fine though.

Quick update from us, Tom is now crawling at lightening speed, climbing up everything including the back of my legs grrrr, he is totally in love with one of our builders and won't leave the poor guy alone lol. He's starting to cruise that's Tom not the builder (think that's illegal isn't it ) and is in general a very happy chap although he has had a stinking cough and cold for over a week now.
Ben on the other hand is a miserable little so & so, is having constant strops and tantrums, doesn't like nursery and all in all is being a complete pita - thankfully my mum & dad are back for a fortnight from Wednesday so hopefully he'll cheer up then - miracles might happen afterall!

Hope everyone else is well and that the lo's that started school recently are enjoying themselves.

Right better go and supervise the bath routine, we've just swapped it from morning till evenings and I can't get my timings right!

Love to all Beks

novadandypowder · 11/09/2006 19:54

Thanks BEKS, I look forward to it

Shoes? Shoes? Noo can't even stand up yet! I'm trying to keep her in bare feet as long as poss as her socks keep slipping on the wood floor.

Took noo to the drs today as I wanted to check that a sore red patch of skin was excema (I can never spell that). I've been treating it with a natural balm but it wasn't shifting. Turns out thats because it's infected . Have to put some steroid cream on it which I'd been trying to avoid.

Rodeo · 11/09/2006 21:24

Evening!
Beks! Your blooming raindance struck while we were out and I had washing on the line and the line snapped under the strain! It was an almighty storm though, thunder and lightening for ages! LOL at Thomas' love for builder! Is it reciprocated? I bet it is
Jess stood up today with no hands! She'd been leaning on me as I sat on the floor and suddenly straightened up, lasted about 3 seconds before she put her hands on me again. She thought it was a hilarious game trying to do it again with her arms outstretched
Brownie, hope tomorrow goes as planned, photo's sound lovely
Ooh poor Noo Nova, hope that cream sorts it out. Jess bashed her bashed lip again today, so that's puffy again, she also got involved in a cat attack earlier so she's in the wars today!
Right I'm off as I'm really tired and need an early night x x x

LaylaandSethsmum · 11/09/2006 21:35

Hello,

Hope everyones ok

Brownie - Hope everything goes as well as these things can will be thinking about you.

Beks - lol at T and his builder friend!!

As Rodeo said we met in town which was lovely but we don't do it nearly as often as we should!!

Seth got frightened by a cow today. The cow was actually in a field on the other side of the car window but he screamed so loud i slammed on the brakes thought he'd been stung by a wasp or something ! He is such a wuss!!

We've had a massive thunderstorm tonight but thankfully seems to have passed over now, had ot get the washing in and got drenched - may as well have left it out really!!

We had Seth christened yesterday, it all went off really well and we had some food at the local pub ,the weather was so fab so at least all the kids were able to play outside, was absolutely knackered afterwards though!!

Anyway off now, packed lunch to be made, bottles to cool, feel restless tonight don't know why! Bizarre! xxxxx

LaylaandSethsmum · 11/09/2006 21:38

Nova ,did the doc give you some antibiotics or antibiotic cream for Noo's arm? Its just that steroid cream shouldn't be used on already infected skin. Just thought you may want to query it with them. Right will take my nurses hat off now!!! Only 6 weeks till i'm back at work though

tessasmum · 12/09/2006 07:36

OK, we have a walker here
He can confidently take 3-4 steps between DH and I and is managing 1-2 on his own. He's 10mths fgs, Tessa was 14mths and even then I thought it was too early. Shouls have glued his bottom to the floor
As for shoes, I'm definately of the 'keep them in bare feet for as long as possible' brigade. But with the state of our garden thanks to builders and the fact that we are away camping for 10 days on Friday and it will probably be too cold to walk in bare feet all the time I relented and he is now the proud owner of a pair of size 4F Startrite 'cruiser'-type shoes. Tessa's first pair were 4F as well but that was 5 months later

Better go and get the rest of the house up, we have our first Tuesday at pre-school and only me to get them ready - DH does some sort of networking breakfast meeting on a Tuesday. Wish me luck.

novadandypowder · 12/09/2006 08:42

L&SM - yes it is an antibiotic based cream for the infection, along with a steroid, Fucithin-H or something like that (sorry it's upstairs and I can't be arsed to check). I did question a lot about the cream as I don't tend to favour stuff like that. Thanks for the advice though.

tessasmum · 12/09/2006 10:14

Nova - when Tessa got excema at about 18mths I went to a Chinese herbalist and got some stuff from them. It worked a treat, clearing it up in 2 weeks and it has never come back. I had tried various things (Aqueous cream, E45, etc) with no joy and didn't want to go down the steroid cream route unless I absolutely had to. HTH

GarfieldsGirl · 12/09/2006 10:17

Morning.

Brownie, thinking of you today. Sending you ((((hugs)))).

BEKs, are Bens nursery giving him any 'responsibilities'. When Owens friends all went to school adn he was left behind, they let him 'help' with looking after the younger ones, adn tidy up time was quite often his responsibility IYKWIM. I think that helped him quite a bit, and maybe if Ben had something like that it may help him until he starts school?

Nova, There could be worse remedies for sickness! Hope Noos arm gets better.

Ash, well done on those steps. You'll soon be running around after your big sister!

I may have to get a job boooo! DPs not getting o/t now he's back at work and as his sick pay included his average o/t its obviously going to mess us up.

Sean had a 'Walking Award' certificate from Gymbabes yesterday. He did spend most of his time there playing with a little girls toes! He's learnt how to clap, and was making noise when doing it this morning. I'd like to get him out of our room now, but unfortunately we can't do that until he's out of the cot which is a PITA.

Do you think proper milk will be OK for 1 night? I don't think he'll take formula on Sat.

Off to wrap him in bubble wrap, as rearranged 9month check today after his blow to the head last time. Wish me luck keeping him away from trouble for the next 5 hours!

tessasmum · 12/09/2006 10:17

Brownie - you are in my thoughts. I hope the day isn't too hard and that you are able to celebrate your Grandad's life as well as mourn his passing.

Diege · 12/09/2006 12:41

BROWNIE: Thinking of you at this very sad time . Really moved when I read about your last photos; they must be so special.

Wow, walking babies . Have to admit the only reason I got L shoes so early [the style is called 'Hugs and Kisses, RODEO, mauvy-pink colour with buckle ]is because her feet are getting so cold in socks, though can't bring myself to put away the lovely 'pixies'/'rosies' we were all obsessing about months back!!
NOVA: all my dds have excema, and tbh it's only the steroid cream that really shifts it, though I think aqeous cream is great for managing it in between outbreaks. We had infected excema too with L - not nice
Right, best leave for meeting, speak later!

GarfieldsGirl · 12/09/2006 13:05

I've been refreshing my inbox all day. The bird I'm getting my Robbie tix from should have had them by Sat at the latest, but she phoned them during the week and they said they should be with her Tues, so I'm waiting for an email from her. She's probably at work so there's not really any point, but my hearts still trying to break out, I have no fingernails and I'm thinking about bidding for some more 'just in case' (she has said that she'll reimburse me if they don't arrive). Is it too much to think 3rd time lucky? I just know that it'll be that batch of tickets that goes missing/gets stolen.

No bruises yet from Sean!! Only 2hrs to go!

Rodeo · 12/09/2006 13:06

Hi all,
Diege, I can't bear to put them away either even though they are now getting a bit small! My bf (who copies me with everything!) asked me where she could get them and I just gave her a vague answer 'off the internet' with a quick change of subject! Our shoes are t-bar fuschia 'Edie Grace' BTW! And it was cold feet which prompted us too, But she doesn't wear them inside. LOL look at us justifying shoe buying
Ash well done with your walking! And to Sean to for his Walking Award
Off to toddlers this afternoon, with only one child, so better get some lunch for us, speak later x

novadandypowder · 12/09/2006 14:33

Rodeo - lol!!! Just discovered there's a shop off Portobello that does them along with some really cool baby wear. They only sell the 0-12 month though so will still have to look elsewhere for the bigger size.

Tessasmum - yes a big clap for Ash and his walking . I've been trying natural remedies for the excema and it wasn't shifting, but that was before I knew it was infected (whcih I think has been slowly spreading for up to a month without me realising ) I've only put the prescription cream on 3 times and it's already making a visible difference, which is good .

GG - another big clap for S and his certificate, top of the class!

Brownie - Thoughts and prayers with you today.

Noo in a not very sleepy day today even after swimming - glad the CM is in this afternoon, I'm knackered.

GarfieldsGirl · 12/09/2006 18:48

She still hasn't got the tickets. I'm so gutted. Really hope they get to her before Thurs.

Sean did well at his check today. He's been referred to the orthoptic clinic for them to have a look at his squint. The way they do the assessment now is a lot better I think. Just watching him play is a lot better than trying to make him do particular things at a particular time. Babies do things when they want don't you know!!!
