HI everyone, Just a quick note to say that I am now joining you on this thread. Caitlin was born on Friday 18th after a very quick two hour labour. I will have to read through this thread to catch with you all now. Hope all is well for all the new moms and babies.

eenywifemum · 20/08/2006 13:58

hi everyone! Arabica good to hear from you, I hope little Esja is doing well! You should be really proud of yourself for how you are coping what you are going through is not easy!

welcome trix!

Melsy I am doing much better now, thank you. Just trying to cope with being a new Mommy really! Alex is adorable but of course very demanding! I went through a very hard time in the beginning (and thought of you actually, about how you felt about your first baby's birth) coping with trauma over how Alex came into the world but I am doing better about it although I am still getting tearful from time to time. Mainly I am just trying to find the time to get on line and catch up which is much harder than I thought it would be as Alex feeds almost constantly, plus I have to express a lot in between feeds, plus he doesnt really like to be put down so I am holding him a lot.

Alex's cord stump fell off finally and now its just an icky looking bit in the center, cant wait for it to heal up. Seeing the MW for the last time on Monday (tomorrow!) then being discharged to health visitor.

Hope everyone and their babies are doing well!

I just have a little time to come on before feeding.

Glad your doing better eeeny. Ive ordered a natal hypnotherapy cd to help with recovery and to help relax a bit, may be that would be good for you to? its on the natalhypnotherapy website.

Hope everyone else is ok ???, much quieter over here than ante natal hey with all the feeding or sleeping.

Even though this is my 2nd I still feel Im learning again and trying to get in touch with how to do things. Every day is different and crazy and Im in this haze of feeds for dd2, showers for me , sleep for me , time for dd1 , visitors every day , eating like a pig and drinking like a fish (wishing it could be champers) and then more feeding.

soz just realised that were all in the same boat and here I am carrying on about me , like Im the only one and Im not even sure anyones going to have time to read all this !!!!!!. I just need to get it out as Im a bit overwhelemd by it all and thought I would feel better as I had such good birth experience, but I feel quite rough. Please let it be just be exaustion and anemia only.

My FIL was over today whos a retired GP , he took one look at me and said your aneamic & reckons my HB is down to 10, everyones said Im very very pale , but we thought it was just due to recovery, but Ive been getting the shakes and feeling my heart beat pronounced again. Problem is that midiwvs dont do HB tests at home, so Im not sure how Im gonna get my bloods done , as the only other way is to go to blood bank , but theres no effin way Im doing that in my condition , as u have to queue from 8am in the morning.

To top it all , its my birthday tomoz and the midwife coming to see me tommorow was a major problem 3yrs ago, she really mucked up dd1's weight and didnt even notice any signs of weird behaviour from me (PND/PTSD onset), so Im anxious right now, but theres no one else that can come. I suppose the universe has a reason why Ive got to face it, but its not a pleasant feeling.

Feedings going well and sooo soo different to dd1 , which never felt right, but dd2 keeps falling asleep mid feed, so its taking a little while to get her fed well.

anywhooooo its nearly 9 and another feed is due (trying to get them between 2-3 hrs max). I need to stuff some more food in me too.

Ohh another query , as have anemia possibly , I need to eat lots of vit c to not get bunged up (nasty with sutres), but thats possible going to upset babas tummy , any ideas, tons of broccoli????

Arabica · 20/08/2006 22:20

Hello again, just had time for a read through of this thread and wanted to say hi & send my love to micku5. Hope the ecg brings good news.
Esja's not had such a good day, she's been vomiting her feeds and I think because of her neurological problems & being so floppy, she's finding the whole sucking/breathing/swallowing/digesting thing v difficult.

eenywifemum · 21/08/2006 00:13

arabica i am sorry esja is having a rough day. am thinking about you lots & send you hugs

melsy i lost a lot of blood after the birth and am anemic - my levels went to 8.8. I am on iron with orange juice and also spinach is good.

melsy · 21/08/2006 09:43

Thinking of u Micku with ecg test.

Hope today is better Arabica for u and ejsa x

eeeny , with oj just get worried it may make dd2 spurt poo everywere, we had a fountain come through all over me last night !!!!How are you finding nappies with OJ ???? It used be midwives trick to get them flowing !!

Micku5 · 21/08/2006 13:08

HI all... thanks for thinking of us. Well the echocardiogram did bring good news. Talia has a slight overide but it is already showing signs of closing up and the hole in the heart is one that will close up with time and because of the size of it will take 3/4 years instead of 1.

She will she be monitored and go for routine checks so we are relieved.... but the flip side is that she has been diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome. Unfortunately it has something like 164 variants and no one person has the same 'symptoms' so we will have to see how if affects her later on.

I am going to find out from the hopsital/and or GP if she can have a full blood test to find out her immunity levels because it will affect any immunisations she has.

katylou25 · 21/08/2006 13:30

Gald tohear you and babies are all doing well - will hopefully be joining you before too long!

PinkTulips · 21/08/2006 13:37

thats good news about the hole in the heart micku, at least talia wont need an op. hopefully the varient of DiGeorge she has won't be a severe one and her immune system won't be too severly affected.

melsy, don't worry about getting bloods done, knowing exactly what your blood count is won't make any differance so just take your iron (try Spatone in orange juice) and eat lots of fibre, replace white bread with brown and have some bran flakes or something for breakfast to help with the constipation.

i've got to say i find getting out of the house for a while every day works wonders for helping me keep my sanity and it's good for the kids to have the fresh air too

booby I'm really glad you are in a routine! sorry I couldnt talk on line earlier -

Alex is very colicy and we've had a rough couple of days with him. He just wont really let us put him down, he feeds constantly and is in a lot of pain. Am giving him infacol now which seems to be helping. I literally only have 5 misn on the computer before I know he will wake up again! Just wanted to say hi to everyone!

sarahlou congratulations!!! And welcome Molly Anne May!

dressedupnowheretogo · 21/08/2006 20:39

lol just tried to give some expresssed milk to madam and she wont take it lol im well chuffed looks like breast feeding only ha ha

lunavix · 22/08/2006 08:31

Just a quick note to eeny (thought it might be more likely to catch you on here than antenatal!)

When ds had colic it was DREADFUL. He really suffered, was in a lot of pain, we got no sleep and were up from 11pm till 4am every night with him hollering.

There's a thing in Boots (or other chemists?) called colief, it's in a teeny tiny box. It's bloody expensive (a tenner and it's smaller than eyedrops!) but you stick a couple of drops in a bottle with the milk and I'm not entirely sure what it does but it WORKS.

I think for bfing it says something about directly into mouth or on a spoon or something.

I know someone might have told you about it, and it is expensive, although I think it's all natural and not chemical which is an upside, but we swore by it. I don't know what we'd have done had we never used it!

Oh and there's a £2 off coupon for it in the booklet of vouchers that came with the emmas diary pack too.

eeny, for colic i always found putting dd on her tummy across my legs worked wonders for calming her, means you can sit down for a few mins too instead of pacing the floor for hours.

put caleb in his cotton nappies today, at 5 weeks they were miles too big for dd but he's only 3 weeks and they fit quite snugly, can actually see the little bruiser growing in front of my eyes!

gotta go, bath time for the babies...... shudder....... roll on half 7 when dd will be in bed!

OP posts:
eenywifemum · 22/08/2006 19:47

luna and pink - thanks for your tips about colic. We are ready to try anything really! On our health visitors advice yesterday we started him on Infacol and I am going to see how that goes for a while - last night was better than the night before. Anyway I said on another thread I love hearing other Mums success stories it gives me something to recite to myself in the middle of the night as a ray of hope!

Alex is still way too tiny for his cloth nappies - I am guessing it will be at least 3-4 weeks before he will go in them but we'll see! We got preemie sized nappies for him as the newborn ones went up to his nipples but the preemie ones dont absorb ANYTHING. and I mean ANYTHING. its just like wrapping toilet paper around him, totally useless. So he is in newborn ones now which are ok afterall and absorb it all perfectly.

burstingbug · 22/08/2006 21:38

Joseph Benjamin Samuel was born at 01.45 Saturday morning, 9 days overdue. Waters went pop at 19.15 on Friday when I was bathing ds1, By the time I'd got to the hospital I'd soaked through my pad and trousers again and they still swabbed me to test if it was my waters! I leaked loads for about 2 hrs! My contractions started about 2100 and were lasting for 1 minute every 5 minutes, I lost track of time after that!
I eventually asked for G&A which I only used 5 or 6 times as I'd forgotten how rough it made me feel. I had to ask them to examine me to see how dilated I was! I was only 4cm, but she could open me right out to 10 with her fingers. Advised to take a walk to help dilation, which I did, 15 mins or so later, she asked me how I was doing and replied that the time had come to push. She didn't believe me, but 20 mins of pushing later my beautiful ds2 had arrived. I had no pain relief which is something in itself, but I suffered 2nd degree tears too, both up in the clitoral area and down towards my bum . From start to finish it took 6 and a half hours, written in my notes labour was 3hours 40!
Joe is feeding so well that by Sunday morning his poo's had changed and my milk was in! He's feeding little and often which is keeping me on my toes.

SnowBoo · 23/08/2006 09:17

Congrats burstingbug! And sympathy with the tear. I had 2nd degree along my perineum and it hurt like hell! Try bathing twice daily with tea tree oil, egg cup full of milk and calendula mother tincture ointment. Worked a treat and mw couldn.t believe how quick it healed. Still a bit tender but can now sit down!!!

Oh btw, Austin was born 2nd Aug not 4th but i can't change it on my comp....
