dreamy, sorry about your mum. Will keep you in my thoughts.

Pink, thank you so much for your email! will write you back as soon as I can. I dont have much time today - Alex is really really ill. He is sleeping - just - right now but has taken a turn for the worse. Sal and I are taking him to the Dr AGAIN today at 4:30. I had the morning from hell with him I was so scared I was shaking and crying.

Hope you are all well though...

Micku try not to worry about people thinking your DD is younger than she is - she is absolutely perfect as she is.

sarahlou1uk · 29/09/2006 15:55

Dreamy & Eeny/Sal - thinking of you all today. Hope everything works out well.

melsy · 29/09/2006 19:34

dd2 and dd1 are now bathed and tucked up in bed in their respective bedrooms ,YIPPEEEE. Im a changed women, much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new little addition & quite enjoyed our little sojourn into co sleeping . I had her around me 24/7 and it was making me go loopey doopey , also dh couldnt be in our bed as I was afraid of him sqaushing her. The only thing is that to get her to sleep at night beyond 3am & not be up the rest of the night is to not let her sleep too long during day naps, very hard with a teenee tinee.

So so sorry to hear how bad things are for you eeny and sal , what was the outcome of the doctors visit?. I know how it is when things are bad like that , dd1 was ill (infections /thrush antiobitics etc) all through the early stage, I was beside myself. I sympathise with you so much.

Micku , nice to hear from you.Sorry dd2 hasnt been well, dd1 used to go of her milk if ill, used to take a few days to get her going again with it. Btw I have teenneee babys , I think its cute.

Dreamy , hope you got to visit your mum this afternoon , any more news or do you have to wait a bit yet for results????

Well my doula days are over as of today , I didnt even see her to say goodbye in person as she let herself out at 3am ish this morn (she did the last 2nights rather than days, WHY OH WHY DIDNT I DO THAT SOONER !!!) , but what a godsend to get some sleep all night after very little the last 7 days, although I still woke up at 3 as if to feed!. Lets hope Ive staved off any mental health issues with severe exaustion, dont want to detioriate (sp?) now. If you can save to afford it for anyone planning a 2nd child in the future I thoroughly recommend the expense. I would have been a headcase big time by now.

dd2 is now making little squeeky noises from her carry cot, lets hope we have a good night, or was she just on good behaviour for aunty doula !!!!

hi everyone. My mum is in hospital until at least monday. I went to visit her last night and she seems in good spirits although in a lot of pain with her chest. She had a ct scan today but will probably be Monday before we know whats going on. Their main concern is another blood clot on her lung so she has been having warfarin injections in her stomache to thin her blood. Thanks for all your thoughts and wishes hopefuly all your positive vibes will have her home good as new soon. Eeny and Sal so sorry poor Alex is suffering I know it must be so hard for you but you are giving him so much love he will be fine very soon Im sure. Mels hope youre having a good day today Im really awe struck by how well you have got through the last few weeks and know your inner strength will see you through the next. Hi to everyone else xx

hi everyone

lovely to see you on eeny. how did it go at the dr's? hope little alex is ok

dreamy, hows your mum doing? hope you have her home soon!

pinky hope your weekends going ok.

well, i'm full of cold atm which sucks but i'm on my 2nd bad day of it so hopefully i'll feel better tomorrow.
Ellis has been quite bad with his reflux since tuesday. he's vomiting or bringing back some or most of his feeds everytime. he was 9lb 6oz last tuesday and will be weighed again this tuesday so it will be intersting to see if its affected him.
On a good note though, he has well and truly stuck into a night routine which i am sooo pleased about. Hes feeding around 7pm ish and again at 9 ish then he's sleeping through till 5/5:30 . He'll then go back down again till about 7:30/8am!. I feel so much better for it too so thank you little Ellis!

Have gone a bit mad shopping too. Its dd's 3rd birthday next sunday so i've been buying her allsorts but got a bit lost on-line and ended up treating myself
Lets just say I've extended my shoe collection a bit more and when my items arrive I'll look like a Wham groupie.

micromum · 01/10/2006 09:02

Good Morning Everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted in ages, me and baby maria are doing well. Finding it a challange to get dd's to school in the morning as maria decideds thats when she wants to be fed/poo her pants, this week i'm going to start waking her at 7am to feed her and see will it work.

Does everyone have a tonne of washing or is it just me.

Dreamy sorry to hear about your mum, hope everything goes well for her.

Just being called will try and keep posting.

sarahlou1uk · 01/10/2006 11:51

Morning everyone.

Well, yesterday I went to my first Reflexology class. DS went to nannans for the day and dd went to my friends. Was weird being without dd so long (8am - 5pm) but was definately nice to do something else other than make bottles, feed, change nappies and rock to sleep! Was very intensive and my head is now hurting but I think I am going to enjoy this! I couldn't face going back to work in an office - this way I get to choose my hours around my kids. Not cheap, but worth every penny this course. By this time next year, I should (hopefully) be a qualified reflexologist!

How's everyone else doing?

YellowFeathers · 01/10/2006 14:26

Sounds great Sarahlou! Is that everyday then or just part time?
I'd love to be able to get into something. I quite fancy web design as maybe I could work from home that way.

Micro, I'm finding it a struggle on a morning and Ellis does wake up around 7! At that dd only goes 2 mornings a week. Last tuesday everything ran pretty smoothly, I'd even got half an hour to spare so I even got my make up on. Then just as I picked Ellis up to get his coat on, he threw up everywhere!

sarahlou1uk · 01/10/2006 18:26

Yellow - the course is the first Saturday in every month but you are expected to do at least 10 hours a week at home and to meet up with other members of the group to practise with. Going to be hard work at first but once dd is a bit older and less demanding, should be ok.

eenywifemum · 01/10/2006 20:32

hi everyone!

Alex just has really really bad colic. The other day he basically fainted from crying so much. We are spoiling the little darling for all he's worth, he deserves it! thanks everyone for thinking of us, and again I am so sorry i have lost it on the communication front! Thanks for understanding.

dreamy, still thinking of your Mum. Hope you are ok.

melsy do you mind if i ask how much your doula was and what all she did? sorry sh eis gone now!

Pink sorry I havent emailed yet the weekend has been so horrifically busy! haha I will make it the top priority tonight or tomorrow! hope you have fun in Mayo!

Yellow sorry about Ellis's reflux, I think Alex is doing that too. Is it when they bring up milk after a feed? Like a lot of milk?

Micromum I have a ton of washing too!

melsy · 02/10/2006 10:57

morning

Have been far to tired to even come online, looking at a screen and thinking al to much like hard wokr sometimes, very very unlike me. Althugh did manage to get to Brent X shoppng centre eysterday to do loads of errands , not easy as dont have much time, fitting in feeds lunch , toilet trips for dd1 etc.

eeeny , regarding my doula , Ill email you the referance I wrote for her. Is it your hotmail addy thats not wokring? Is that the one I have ?

Most post natal doulas cost around £12 pr hr (steep I know, but we budgeted esp for it). I found her through agency top notch nannies although they tend to link yoyu th someone in particular and they have agency fees to pay for each week too. Youll see from my rave review/referance its worth the expense.

melsy · 02/10/2006 11:00

oh my whats happened to my typing.

Well done sarah on starting yuor course, sounds really good. When are you meeeitng them all next ? Quite good as you can make friends with others with the same interest like that. Is it a privately run course or through a college?

hoppybird · 02/10/2006 13:04

Hello everyone!

Well, I'm one year older (30 again ) - birthday on friday, and so is my ds, who is now an amazing 6 years old, and who celebrated his birthday on saturday. We went to a Havester restaurant for my birthday with both kids (aah, I love saying that)! and little Julia slept all the way through, and she was also an angel at his party on saturday. We were lucky enough to be able to double up with another birthday boy, who's mum organised everything - otherwise he wouldn't have had a party at all!

eeny - I thought of you the other day, when dd was overtired, and for the first time, did the non-stop screaming thing ds used to do with colic. It only lasted for 15mins, before she was soothed by a feed, but both me and dh were horrifed, remembering that ds was exactly like that with colic and would scream unconsolably every day, for way longer than a mere 15mins. Looking back, we just couldn't believe that we managed to get through that time and wondered how anyone can cope with a colicky baby. Must be especially hard for you, eeny, if you get migraines too. I really do feel for you and Sal.

We are so very lucky with dd that she is a calm baby, although she suffers from wind - it's hard to bring up a burp, but she's getting better at it now she's a little bigger.

Sarahlou - I like the sound of your reflexology class, very useful career move.

Yellow - my home business is web design, which obviously I'm not doing at the moment due to there being no hours in the day, but it's not a main wage, but it brings in regular money due to the way I structure my clients' payments (monthly and annual fees rather than single payments). If you find it's something you're good at, then it's a great business to have if you're not going back to paid employment.

Melsy - very envious of your doula - I think the most difficult thing I've found when I had dd was being isolated, and not having family and friends to call on for help, particularly having had a section. Thankfully, ds was a good age and dh was able to stay at home for the first 2 weeks, otherwise I would not have coped.

YellowFeathers · 02/10/2006 13:11

hi all

eeny, yes reflux is when they bring up feeds but alot. they also struggle to feed too as the stomach acid comes up and burns their throat but they are hungry and want to feed. it can be hard. hes vomited alot this last week.
poor little alex, hes really going through it isnt he have you got anyone that could come and visit you through the day?

melsy, i text you yesterday. you ok?

i'm having a real shit time tbh. my anxiety has rocketed sky high and dh really does not understand. he was trying but i know now he just does not get it. i've got my 6 week check on wednesday so i'm going to make sure he comes with me and i am going to get help. i hate being like this and i'm sure its affecting poor dd which makes me feel shit.

sorry to lower the tone.
hope everyone else is doing well.

eenywifemum · 02/10/2006 14:22

Yellow dont worry at all about 'lowering the tone' god I have barely had a positive thing to say! Its ok we are all here for each other. I am so sorry about your anxiety. My best friend has awful panic attacks and anxiety and I know how crippling it can be.

HV was here today - we are lucky we have a GREAT HV - she was here while Alex spit up some of his milk as he keeps doing and she said it was because his tummy was overfull - he feeds too much because he thinks it will make his colic pain better.

the HV organises baby massage classes for babies from 6 weeks - we started them but all the babies were 2-3 weeks older than Alex PLUS Alex is only supposed to be 4 weeks now (he is 8 weeks tomorrow) so developmentally he is behind babies his age by a little (until he is about 6 months when he is supposed to catch up) so I felt the classes werent benefiting him as he is more like a newborn. So we are starting in another class next monday where he will be more in line with the other babies.

hoppy thanks for thinking of me. You dont know how nice it is too to be reminded colic DOES end. I jsut feel so sorry for my little boy.

I feel really guilty because all I had to do was grow him and deliver him and I felt I did both poorly and its caused him problems. I know I didnt have any control over the pregnancy and birth but it feels like I've let him down.

melsy, the problem is I can not email hotmail addresses from my home address (I dont know why, they all come back undeliverable) you can email me on the address you have. Thanks!

melsy · 02/10/2006 15:07

eeeny email sent , hope u get it , let me know if u dont , or CAT me if u can with another addy. X

I so need a cuppa now ready for next feed.

SnowBoo · 02/10/2006 20:44

Eeny you have done an amazing job growing a baby and getting him out! He is sooooo lucky to have you as his mummy and don't you forget it!
And as for the colic it will get better and a lot easier. Just make sure you are resting up too.
Hugs to you all xx

As for everyone else glad you ok. Austin is getting very big now and is almost (touching everything wooden!) sleeping through the night. Just a shame his older brother has started with the waking and nightmares!!!!

eenywifemum · 02/10/2006 22:03

Thanks SnowBoo that is really nice of you to say. I'm sorry your DS1 is having sleep problems!!

Glad to hear Austin is sleeping well. Today Alex has slept for one hour, then 20 mins, then 10 mins, then 20 mins and that is all. The rest of the time he has cried. I have worked out that we have had such a bad day because of the camembert I ate last night as the last time I had that we had a bad day then too. GRRRR such a stupid thing to have an awful day over!

Melsy got your email hon, thanks!

olivo · 03/10/2006 10:26

eeny - sorry to hear alex still isnt a happy chap. have you thought about trying craniosacral therapy? we were recommended it for dd after her traumstic birth and after just two sessions she is much more contented - apparently she was anxious and stressed before. she rarely slept in the day and was really unhappy when awake, the difference now is amazing. the lady we went to said it can be used to treat colic amongst other things. might be worth a try?

all is well here. dd slept for 5 hours in a stretch last night, so i am feeling lots better. also, she has started to put herself to sleep when i put her down still awake after a feed in the night, which i am so pleased about. also, i've been given the ok to drive after my section so feel a bit more in control of things - an go and visit people or even vary our walks! and as for shopping.........

Micku5 · 03/10/2006 10:31

Hi Eeny... another recommendation for craniosacral therapy or children chiropractor. I took Talia last week when i was going for my chiropractor appt because she was suffering with the most awful colic to the point where she was screaming in pain and it was taking 20-25 mins in various positions to try and bring the wind up.

She's a lot calmer now and it now takes a couple of minutes to bring her wind up and she is sleeping longer at night. Last night she had a bottle at 10.00pm and didn't wake up till 4.30am for another feed.

olivo · 03/10/2006 10:41

micku - we have been to chiropractor as well as cranio - one recommended the other! glad it worked for Talia.

YellowFeathers · 03/10/2006 14:30

Afternoon all.
Feeling much better today. I had a good chat with dh last night and he brought me back down to earth and got me thinking straight again so I've got my thoughts in a tight grip (if anyone understands that).
He admitted that he doesn't really "get it" and is quite baffled by it all but said that he wants me to be back to my normal self so will come withe me to my check up and I'll try and get some help to re-train my brain.

Stupid AF has returned too!

Ellis is still doing well with his sleep although he seems to be going to sleep slightly earlier than normal on an evening so he's waking around 3:30/4am atm. Still not too bad though, at least I'm getting a good chunk of sleep in between.

Hows everyone elses nights going?

olivo · 03/10/2006 15:47

hi YF - glad your dp is being supportive.
I've had a couple of good nights with dd only waking twice and managing to sleep on her own after her feeds - even got a five hour stretch lsat night

melsy - if you're there, need your help with possible oral thrush - saw you'd posted on it somewhere. how do iknow if thats what she has got without going to the gp? i though the white in her mouth was because she is quite sicky. have you used anything homeopathic? do i have to put something on my nipples as well if it is that? sorry to ask so much!
