I had him in just his nappy yesterday afternoon till bedtime as he is just so hot. Its definatley that what is aggrevating the rash. I've also noticed that when I pick him up, his armpits are very sweaty and they smell like his neck when you get old milk stuck in it lol!
Anyone elses baby like this?
This is honestly like being a new mum again. All these problems be it small or big, I never experienced with dd. She was such a "text book" baby!

On a good note though, the little beauty slept all night for his mummy He went down just before 10pm and woke up at 6!!!
I wonder if this is the start of things to come???

Has anyone heard from Eeny or Sal? I haven't seen either of them post for a while. Hope they're ok.
Also Arabica. I think I'll ask around MN as I think there are a few who know her.

We're also having problems with dd atm, behaviour wise. Its getting pretty bad and for once even dh is clueless about how to tackle it.
How are everyone elses other children doing?
Dreamy, have you got any advice?

PinkTulips · 25/09/2006 11:19

feathers i tend to give caleb a bath every night so his skin doesn't get all clogged with old sweat and milk. he loves it and it forms part of our bedtime routine along with a nice massage..... not that bedtime routine serves much purpose at the minute! congrats on the sleeping through, you must be so relieved to get a full nights sleep!

i haven't heard fron eeny in a while, about to e-mail them and see if they're ok as their messenger was acting up.

hope arabicas ok too.

hi everyone walked my 3 mile round trip to the school today for the first time knackered now and took me ages will have to build up to doing it three times a day over quite some time dd was very good at walking along side the pram and Sophie Jane slept the whole way there and back She is wide awake in her swing at the moment and seems to really like it. Took my eldest to uni yesterday was very emotional although she isnt miles away hopefuly it will give me even more excuses for weekends away she is in lancaster if anyone is nearby. Im still looking into our xmas meet up shouldnt be too difficult to arrange and cant wait to meet you all.

olivo · 25/09/2006 15:58

hello everyone!

PT, I bath holly every night too, as she usually has sick in her hair - did you go to baby massage classes or do you just do it as you think? i'm on a waiting list for classes but they are really over-subscribed.

YF - i would kill for 8 hours sleep! with her cold, dd is awake every 2 hours at the mo - I'm knackered!

went to the chiropractor today - she has done something very gentle to dd's 'atlas bone' at the base of her neck and we are to go back next week. also got some homepathic remedy for dd's cold - she's costing me a fortune !

feeling on good form today, but pretty tired. nothing a bit of chocolate wont cure- but i've gone right off chunky kit kats!

SnowBoo · 25/09/2006 16:14

YellowFeathers · 26/09/2006 08:21

Awww Snow
FWIW, I'm going through the same too. I'm hating being on my own and I have awful panic/anxiety attacks.
Its getting that bad sometimes that I'm actualy giving myself diorreah!
I understand if you don't want to talk about it as it is hard and sometimes you just want to be left but like Mels and Pinky said, we're here if you want us. I'd be happy to pass on my number to you if you want to call as well
Melsy gave me a great link to a site that shows practioners in something called Emotional Freedom Therapy. I've had a look and I'm going to see how I go and if I get no better I'll contact one of the therapists near me and maybe start up with it.

Lockets, one thing I realised is that I've just gone back to dilute conditioner rather than concentrate. Same make but I've been using the concentrate since Ellis was born so maybe thats been a factor. Although he smells quite badly of old milk and he is sweating so much so I think its that too. Its not as angry now.

Olivo, dont be jealous my sleep through was just a one off. I was up again at 3am

In fact you'll all love this! So I get up at 3am to feed Ellis only to be faced with the biggest pile of dog crap and pee all over my kitchen floor . So I was cleaning that up and then I fed Ellis only for him to puke it all up and after that he didn't settle well so was grunting till 5:30 and then dh was up at 6 which then woke him up.
Soooo all in all a really crappy night (literally).

sarahlou1uk · 26/09/2006 08:35

Mornine everyone. Well, Molly was awake all day yesterday crying with colic. Finally got her to have a sleep at 6pm but she didn't settle for long. Put her to bed at 10.30pm and she was still asleep at 4.30pm. Woke at 6am for her bottle and was back to normal.

Anyway on a lighter note, I start a reflexology course on Saturday. I have decided I don't want to go back to work in an office and want a career change. It's a years course and we only meet up the first Saturday in every month. It is then upto the group to arrange meetings between these days. A friend of mine has just passed her final exam and is now qualified. I have thought it's a bit soon since having Molly to start something, but if I don't do it, I will have to wait a further year which I don't want to do. I'm sure I've got plenty of babysitters!

For all those who's babies have colic - try this reflexology technique.

When baby is quiet or resting or just been fed (anytime as long as they haven't got colic at this time) put them in front of you on their backs and hold their feet. Put your fingers on the top of their feet and with your thumbs, slowly stroke their insteps up and down. Do both feet together. This is supposed to be a cure/prevention for colic. You need to do it every day to really prevent it. My tutor talked me through this on the phone last night whilst Molly was in her quiet period. I think it worked for her and plan to do it every day - don't want a repeat of yesterday!!

olivo · 26/09/2006 10:38

morning! had the night from hell, dd wouldnt settle till midnight and then only slept for 2 hours, and by 5 am i was past myself, had tried every trick in the book to settle her but would she sleep? so i had to go out for a walk and then i let her sleep in her car seat part of the pram for 3 hours (bad mummy). i have just bitten the bullet and put her fed and awake into her moses basket so i could have a bath with some lavender oil and she has gone to sleep while i was in it!

have been in teaars last night and again today, dh just doesnt seem to understand how i feel and that i dont want to be hassled about making decisions about what we have for dinner etc. i know i'm being pretty unreasonable with him at times and i know he is tired too (although he hasnt slept in our room since day 3, he says he cant sleep properly ) and he has to go to work but i feel so unsupported. he wants me to start giving a formula bottle but i want to carry on bf only for a while - she wont take a bottle at the moment anyway.

sorry, yet again i've excelled myself whinging when so many others have got concerns. it just seems that no one in rl is bothered - at least you lot know where i'm coming from!

olivo · 26/09/2006 10:42

sarahlou - the refelxology course sounds great - before i wa pg i used to go loads, it really works. i'm hoping to sneak an appt next week while dh is off work!

booby - will look in my bounty pack ( when iremember where i've put it!)for the massage booklet. no sure if the classes are free, forgot to ask (!) but waiting list is long.

going back to bed while dd is still sleeping!

dressedupnowheretogo · 26/09/2006 11:43

Salamander · 27/09/2006 09:38

Hi All!

Just to let you knwo we are here!
Still alive.

It's been the most stressful time ever with poor Alex.

Thanks for all your thoughts - it really makes a difference.

Don't think MSN will work again on our home PC as evrything kind of crashed, and our e-mail doesn't like 'hotmail' addresses for some reason!!!

UPDATE: Alex's colic is still there despite some slight improvements. Seeing him silent scream through attacks is possibly the worst thing we've ever endured.
It's very stressful for the both of us, and especially Eeny who has all day without support.
Our health visitor team is excellent and have been so helpful, which is a great bit of luck.
Eeny and Alex have a doc appt today to see if he can have a painkiller added to the mix of Zantac and Infact Gaviscon, jsut so he can sleep.
I stayed home from work yesterday with Eeny as we were both so distressed.
He had a three hour sleep, crying intermittently, yesterday evening, which is the longest so far... so here's hoping...

Will try to get back on to update everyone and say hi and see how you all are, but TIME is so precious and fleeting!!!

THANKS AGAIN TO YOU ALL!!!

PinkTulips · 27/09/2006 10:26

good to hear from you sal, give eeny and alex big {{{HUGS}}} from me (and caleb and dd!). hopefully things should start to improve as you come up towards the 3 moth mark.... fingers crossed anyway.

dreamydowler · 27/09/2006 11:17

good morning all. So good to hear from you sal please pass on my love to eeny and soothing kisses for poor alex. My Ds had his first overnight school trip today went to wave him off this morning they are only going for one night and he seemed very excited was odd though everyone seems to have moved one step up the growing up ladder since Sophie jane has been born. Hope your post natal check goes well Mel hasnt the time flown by cant believe Sophie jane 2 weeks old already she is still feeding every three hours or so and waking once sometimes twice a night. She loves her dummy and swing between feeds and seems very content to lie awake for an hour or so after each feed just watching the world go by.

eenywifemum · 27/09/2006 16:07
