CantSleepWontSleep · 09/08/2006 07:38

Right ladies - the race is on to see which of our DCs can self feed a sausage roll first!

Oh, and some of you don't seem to have aged since we got pregnant, so if you've got closer to your telegrams from the queen then please let me know!

MRM how old is ds1? I'm wondering if dd1 will stick it, she's 2.9.....

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 19:16

He'll be 3 in November. Its the first time he's been to the pics. We didn't tell him where we were going incase it was full (actually it was 3/4 empty!), but then we explained and as ew were waiting he kept saying 'where's the cars? Are they coming?'. He managed really well; one wee, and wanted to go home 5 mins before the end as he didn't really follow the plot. And asked how you turned that telly off! But he asked alot of things (in very loud voice), understood more that I thought he would, and the sheer size of the screen had him transfixed. Plus he ate nearly half the bucket of popcorn alone!
We fed ds2 a jar () in the corridor before we went in, then he fell asleep in there, woke up for a quick feed, and back to sleep again. perfect.
Best quote by ds1 "but I know that cars cant talk really".

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 19:18

Frizbe; we've got the ELC drum too; ds1 had it for his first birthday.

csws; its only 3 days in Hastings. Not very exotic, but better than no holiday at all. Nice and seasidey! But I'll be knackered when we get back; cant see 3 mums, 3 kids, and a baby all in one room being particularly condusive to sleep!

Amiable · 13/08/2006 19:31

Hi everyone. I had a great time at the meet up on Friday - nice to put faces to names.

CSWS - glad that DD has been sleeping - I like the image of her having weekend lie-ins like grown ups!

no teeth here yet, although DP thinks it won't be long before one appears at the bottom.

DD seems to really hate being on her front. She can now roll right over, but usually when she is on her front she just mushes her face into the floor and grizzles. I keep trying to give her plenty of tummy time, and distract her with toys, but she just doesn't seem to get the idea that if she lifts her head a bit her face won't be squashed. however, she has started to do a kind of slug crawl, where she just inches across the floor face in the carpet!

Chloe55 · 13/08/2006 20:00

MRM - I would love your cotbumper if you aren't using it - just let me know how much you want, thanks very much x

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/08/2006 20:03

Frizbe - no you didn't read quite right! Although I suppose 7:40-4:50 could sort of be classed as sleeping through! She was then up for an hour for a feed and a chatter/whinge before going back down til 8:30 ish.

Just worked out that she's only been up for 7.5 hours in total today - how strange - the complete opposite of her normal self! Maybe it was all the new toys getting her nicely stimulated and wearing her out! We bought her some at toysrus yesterday, as much to relieve the monotony of playing with the same things for us as for her! Got her one of these , one of these (couldn't get a better pic as not on online toysrus!), and a Bruin version of those things with 4 pop up animals and knobs that have to be pressed/turned etc to make them pop up (meant from 12 months but seen her play with one before, and can't find a pic online at all!).

3k - dh says he doesn't want any more children because of the '6 months of hell we've just had' - his words not mine . I think he'll change his mind in a few months though - told him he'd better!! My periods haven't returned yet so the chances of me falling pregnant again are pretty slim (especially given the years of trying first time), but if I did then I'd be quite happy - it would be nice for it to happen without actually having to try in fact, and even better if I don't realise until I'm already 12 weeks!!

Flame - hugs for aching body. Hope you feel tip top again soon. As for letting RL get in the way of MN'ing - well really!

Right, fully expecting that DD will decide she's caught up on her sleep enough at 3am, so better get myself sorted for an earlyish night soon!

dewmeadow · 13/08/2006 20:14

mrm - my DD is the same age as your DS (3 in Nov) and I havent even contemplated the cinema. Hmmmm... maybe an exciting afternoon ahead.

Friz - my carpets are beautiful and the whole of today and yesterday I have been very precious about them - O no! a piece of dust!! Usually I put off hoovering as long as I can!!

DD got a whole seletion of percussion instruments from ELC (from Santa) and they are great fun - the horn is SOOO loud but if you are in the mood she loves you to chase her blowing it.

Lewsmummy · 13/08/2006 20:24

Hi everyone,

DS has been really whingy for the last few days and not sleeping as well as he had been. His second tooth is nearly through so that's why. His 1st one never bothered him but this one really seems to be.

He's got quite a few patches of dry skin on his leg, back and front so will ask hv about them tomorrow, hope it isn't eczema (sp?) both my brothers have it. I'm gonna get him weighed tomorrow we haven't had him done for 4 weeks so be interesting to see if he's hit 22lb yet. (was 20lb 12oz last time.)

I've got a quinny zapp coming, bought it off mn on saturday.

We've ordered a cot bumper and sleeping bag from vertbaudet (dh works there so we get discount ) because he sticks limbs thru the cot bars and won't keep his covers on either so think sleeping bag's the way to go.

Let me have another read thru the posts see what else i wanted to say.

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 20:29

Chloe - I cant see the postage being more than £4 tops. I'll CAT you my address. Dh is supposed to checking my email/ebay/post this week, but dont be suprised if he cant figure it out,so I'll post it myself on Thursday when I'm back He's got 9 ebay sales to deal with, and is getting very worried!!!

csws... told you before; she's getting all the hard stuff out of the way now. When she's an angel in a few months, your dh will have forgotten all the trauma and be all set for number two

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 20:32

Hello! How much was your Zapp? {I will not buy more buggies, I will not...}

ds2 had alot of dry patches, as did ds1, but they seem to have dried up now.

Amiable.. did i actually bother to say how nice it was to meet you? We should get together again soon, seeing as we're so close to each other!

Lewsmummy · 13/08/2006 20:36

£60 inc p&p she wanted rid so she could buy a mclaren

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 20:39

I'm so tempted. Maybe when ds1 doesn't ever need a buggy, there might be a little while while ds2 is still in one...

Frizbe · 13/08/2006 20:39

Totally agree CSWS, your dh will forget and your next one will be a total angel as far as sleep goes anyway! so no probs there then

MRM really, excellent, they're the same age then, so I may get an afternoon/evening at the flicks! (hmmm can I persuade someone to sit for dd2, as don't think she'd be as good as your little one?)

Aimiable, lol at the 'Slug' I know that one! dd2 here has decided that rolling everywhere is the way to go, along with the slug crawl, if she's somewhere she can grab onto ie thick rugs, or bed sheets she's also lifting her front up and moving a bit to the side, then dragging herself over to get to places.....

Lewsmummy congrats on the teeth! let us know what the pushchairs like, I need to start thinking about getting rid of the double and getting dd1 onto a buggy board on the back of a smaller version (hurrah I can shop again!)

Dew, I have visions of you watching your carpets like a hawk all day

Lewsmummy · 13/08/2006 20:41

Mrm - this is it

She says she jet washed it so got a few water marks but for £60 and we'll only be using it occasionally i'm not bothered.

Lewsmummy · 13/08/2006 20:44

There's a black one on the for sale boards for £65 in Southampton i think.

Flamesparrow · 13/08/2006 20:45

Oh poo - I was hopin I could swipe the bumper

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 20:46

Can you fit a buggy board on a Zapp? {thinking, brain scheming...}

Think ds2 was only so ggod because he was totally stuffed full of puree and milk, so couldn't help but fall asleep in there. Plus he prob thought his luck was in; he never gets to sleep in my arms that much!
Did think the Odeon rules are funny though... babes in arms allowed in U PG and 12s. Like they're going to be aware of the plot?! Or is that just me? I'd prob have been all careful with ds1, but cant see that ds2 would really notice a horror film. And the noise level is no different; Cars was very loud!

Frizbe · 13/08/2006 20:48

me too MRM.....I don't think you can by the look of them? but we'll let Lewsmummy check for us!

Babes in arms, oh, she'd love a chance at that!

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 20:49

Sorry Flame!! You could well get some more outgrown clothes soon, if my friends baby keeps getting huge; I cant pass them on, even though he's 12 weeks younger than ds2 Haven't got your address though!

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 20:51

Frizbe; I thought you couldn't. But there's a new buggyboard out, that has far more 'universal' fittings. A mum at playgroup said she'd seen one with one one, but i dont entirely believe her.

Forgot to say... reason we went to the pics today... sold my Graco travel cot on ebay for twice what I paid for it

Chloe55 · 13/08/2006 21:05

Flame you get enough!

Only joking

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 21:07

Woah! I love it when people fight over me (or my stuff, at least!)

Lewsmummy · 13/08/2006 21:08

Dh gave ds nearly a full ice lolly today, well he was nearly eating dh's for him, he loved it. Probably good for his teeth too.

When you've all been saying lo are eating rice cakes is it big ones or baby c & g ones. We've bought ds c & g ones.

CSWS - Glad dd slept and taking to a teat.

Chloe - there's a thread in chat looking for u. Hope he sleeps better with a bumper. r we still on for tuesday?

Morgan - Hope the christening went well and u haven't ended up drinking as much as i did at ds'

3k - We've bought ds this for christmas. He won't be getting much else in the way of toys cos he got loads off my auntie that were her grandsons a few weeks ago and they're nearly all brand new.

Thats all i can remember, hello to everyone i forgot. Hope u're all well.

mustrunmore · 13/08/2006 21:10

We all just eat the big rice cakes: I'm too lazy to buy different ones for different people. Apart from dh, who'd rather starve than eat one.

Amiable · 13/08/2006 23:21

MRM - have to say I'm with your DH re rice cakes! I'm going to get some for DD, but certainly won't be upset if she doesn't take to them. Lump of cardboard anyone?!!

I'd love to meet up again - I have your email from when you CAT-ed me, so will drop you a line, so as not to hijack this thread again!

Can't believe you're all planning Xmas presents. Far too organised for my liking. I shall keep saying how I must get round to it to miss the crowds... then leave it all til the 23rd Dec like usual.
