CantSleepWontSleep · 09/08/2006 07:38

Right ladies - the race is on to see which of our DCs can self feed a sausage roll first!

Oh, and some of you don't seem to have aged since we got pregnant, so if you've got closer to your telegrams from the queen then please let me know!

Nah, he just wraps his hand round it in the right position to hold it whilst sucking thumb!

Frizbe · 28/08/2006 16:58

Hmm not sure about the thumb flame, mine won't take her thumb at the mo...however dd1 likes hers, I think with her, I just had thumb in one hand, spoon in the other and whipped one out and the other one in and she was usually that shocked she didn't cry much, just that quick ahhhmmmm one they do before they realise they actually like what you've just done?! then she'd open her mouth again!

MRM, I try to run twice a week, usually half hour or so, am doing a build up thing with a friend at the mo, so we walk 2 mins run 2mins at the mo we will get fit!

Dew or was it dame, I did look at the thread, but not sure about boob biters, dd1 was on bottles by now! and dd2 will be heading that way next week once she finally hits the 6mth marker, I need to get my boobs back to normal before we go away for two whole nights on our own at end of Nov! (our very belated 1st wedding anniversary, it was actually 3 weeks after dd2 was born!)

Chloe55 · 28/08/2006 18:40

Hiya ladies,

I hae been busy busy busy over the bank holiday, ence not being on here

Went to a lovely wedding on friday which was good fun and then went to the Leeds festival yesterday which was good but it absolutely belted it down at 9pm and didn't want to stop so I was cold, soaking and had bad ache by the time it finished. MUSE finished the evening though and they were fantastic - the best live band I have seen and I'm not normally a huge fan of them. Artic Monkeys were also good if somewhat intoxicated

Ds has had a full roast aswell today - most of it ended up on the floor but he practically sat through the whole meal with us nibbling at pretty much anything and everything. Db commented that he never sees him without something in his mouth He isn't fat though! I think because he moves about so much then he burns it off!

Did I mention ds was crawling now? What a bloody nightmare!!! He isn't great at it yet but easily gets himself from one side of the room to the other in double quick time either by crawling on all fours or bydoing a tummy shuffle. Why oh why are babies obsessed with fire places?

Sympathies with the ladies whose dh's have been a PITA over this bank holiday - I am not on speaking terms with mine today coz I am just sick of doing bloody everything and having a boozy husband from friday-monday, nice.

Right, gonna get off and switch the football over now just to be spiteful

PhoenixGirl · 28/08/2006 18:56

OMG crawling chloe. I can imagine it's a nghtmare, Lewis is like Michael Shumacher (sp?) in his walker now, the poor dog daren't come in the house cos as soon as Lewis see's him he chases him out again. (he's laid sulking in the garden now and Lewis is gaurding the door )

And he's so cheeky if i tell him to come away from something in it he just looks at me and laughs, but he's so cute.

mustrunmore · 28/08/2006 19:40

Crawling?! Forgotten that that might happen Am looking forward to it even less that I was the weaning!

Have managed a 15 min jog But will be happier when back to running. It takes 45 mins or so for my adrenalin to kick in.

dewmeadow · 28/08/2006 21:09

whats the difference between walking and jogging?

(just did 30 mins)

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/08/2006 21:11

'Did I mention ds was crawling now?' - err, no - how could you forget to tell us such a significant thing!! When did that start then?

Checked startrite - they make one shoe in an h fitting, which is a little bit paler than the clarks one, though still purple! Thanks for the other link Frizbe - I think they're all pram shoes though aren't they, rather than properly sized ones?

I really should do some exercise - feel like a bit of a fat lazy slob at the moment - seem to have gained a few pounds in the last couple of weeks . I guess I don't need as much extra food now I'm not breastfeeding quite so much. Just another thing to add to my list of stuff that I can't find time (or inclination) for.

PhoenixGirl · 28/08/2006 21:21

No gagging with any meal today, so i'm still blaming that rusk He's had a philadelphia sandwhich today and some melon chunks.

Frizbe · 28/08/2006 21:54

Chloe, crawling mine's not that far off either....may I highly recommend the argos fire guard, available at most carboots for a lot less money
either that or a travel cot, ideal play pen as I think someone else has mentioned as well!

CSWS they are pram/crawling shoes, as your right their not sized, but so long as they're not walking in them, you don't need fitted ones as such, they're made out of nice comfy flexiable leather and good on laminate/wood floors, dd1 will testify to this

Jasnem · 28/08/2006 22:04

OMG Crawling????? No way is Boy any where near to crawling!
I agree about the travel cot/playpen though. DD2 lived in it as a baby (to protect her from DD1.)

I guess no one want me to tell them I've eaten 1/2 a chocolate cake and 2 Aeros this evening? Eventually my luck will run out and I'll pile on the weight and yuo can all laugh at me...

I am going to try and do some exercise though. Remind me next week if I don't mention it, as I want to do the local buggy walks through the Lea Valley, to get me started.

damewashalot · 29/08/2006 08:01

No where near crawling but is doing a good job of getting around the room by rolling, but only one way so he gets to a sofa and gets stuck Travel cot will be down here playpenning soon.

Chloe55 · 29/08/2006 08:35

Morning girls,

Well, he started to get up on all fours, albeit very wobbly last week but he hadn't got the movement co-ordination until Thursday. Then on Friday he did nine movements and hasn't really improved on that yet but from that position he will then collapse into commando mode and wiggle all the way through the room

I brought the travel cot down about a month ago because he was very near pulling himself up in the crib and I just imagined walking in to find him on the floor one day when he was having a daytime nap. So, we use the cot for naptime more than playtime tbh. However, I have started letting him have his morning nap in the cot upstairs and I wish I had done it sooner - he sleeps for longer and it allows me to do the downstairs housework without disturbing him. Since when did noise start bloody waking them up? Ds used to sleep through anything and now seems to wake up to everything!

Glad to hear that Lewis ate well yesterday after the rusk ordeal lm.

And to Jas, I do not want to hear about you stuffing your face with chocolate so flippantly, humph!

mustrunmore · 29/08/2006 08:45

ds2 has only got as far as assuming a press-up position!

No more talk of choc please.

PhoenixGirl · 29/08/2006 09:04

Not a bad night last night really, I tore myself away from the laptop at 10.30ish and went to bed, ds was quite unsettled at 2am then about 5am but didn't actually wake up he was just moaning and kicking about, i just went in and put his dummy in. Then he's slept til 7.50am So i'm pretty much caught up on some sleep.

dewmeadow · 29/08/2006 09:17

DS still wakes aBOUT 2 ish for a feed nad also 5 -6ish, and hes drinking quite a lot, so he must need it. He's very easy to put back into his cot though (so far..)

Forgot to say Ive given him eggs a couple of times now and he loves them. Such an easy meal for both him and DD.

DS has been doing pressups for a while now and can now swivel himself around to get objects (though not if you're watching!) but is not crawling. I felt quite yesterday at the thought of him going from one end of the room to the other. I was discussing it with DD trying to warn her that when he learns to move he will wreck her stuff and really annoy her.

MRM - what IS the difference between walking and jogging?

dewmeadow · 29/08/2006 09:18

o yes, Jas at blatant indulgence in chocolate (though Aero wouldnt be my choice for a choccie fix)

Flamesparrow · 29/08/2006 09:26

Its takin me ages to be able to add messages again... crawlin title needed perhaps???

Emrys is trying his hardest - is also good at the pushup position, and spinning when no-one looks at him. His nappy tends to slow him down - he can shuffle backwards round the room with no problems if he has a bare bum, but the nappy on keeps him more grounded

Out for the day, so just checking in really.

Oh, @ Leeds Festival... and a quick confession... I was eatin lots of chocolate too!

damewashalot · 29/08/2006 09:30

I'm always eating chocolate

mustrunmore · 29/08/2006 09:45

Jogging is marginally quicker, and its easier to slip between jogging and running, rather than walking and running, if you need a rest. I jog only a bit quick than I spped walk. But I'd much rather be up to a good run again.
Oh, and I have to jog not run with the buggy, because of the position your upper body is in when pushing it.Cant get the right motion going.

PhoenixGirl · 29/08/2006 10:15

Have all u with crawlers/nearly crawlers got capets?

PhoenixGirl · 29/08/2006 10:15

Thats carpets btw

damewashalot · 29/08/2006 10:25

We have in the living room/dining room but not the playroom, I don't leave him on the floor in there at the momment.

mustrunmore · 29/08/2006 10:31

Yes, but the front room one is disgusting. Was here when we came, and we cant afford a new one. Plus I want to wait and get wooden flooring once there's no fallydowny children here!

Chloe55 · 29/08/2006 10:37

Yeah carpet in the front room - he can't crawl on the laminate at mums and I am a bit wary of letting him try tbh because very occassionally he will face plant it which is fine into carpet but a little more uncomfortable onto wood!

He has just gone down for a second morning kip! Lovely, means I can get some housework done - so why am I on here?!!

damewashalot · 29/08/2006 10:38

The problem with babies that move off the blanket you leave them on is you have to hoover more
