CantSleepWontSleep · 09/08/2006 07:38

Right ladies - the race is on to see which of our DCs can self feed a sausage roll first!

Oh, and some of you don't seem to have aged since we got pregnant, so if you've got closer to your telegrams from the queen then please let me know!

dm... no valium; got the same effect through lack of sleep

csws... year one is the first class after the reception year at primary school. So say they are 4/5 in reception, they'll be 5/6 in yr one.

dewmeadow · 27/08/2006 21:13

somebody told me that in some London schools you could have a pile of children who cant evne speak english

mustrunmore · 27/08/2006 21:14

Music is one of those subjects made to mess about in, esp when you're sent off to individual music rooms!

I'd have loved to teach my subject - history - but not to shitty secondary kids, so made the choice to go primary!

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/08/2006 21:15

ah - much more innocent than the lot I taught then!!

pg - hadn't thought to check clarks online! Just had a look and they only make one style in an h . It's a deep purple one, so isn't going to go with many of her outfits.

Who else is good for baby shoes except clarks?

ds1 has 2 kids in his little nursery that cant speak English. And his 'proper' state nursey that he will begin in January is part of a school which is 60% English, 40% other first languages. Of that 40%, most of it is Greek Cypriot.

mustrunmore · 27/08/2006 21:17

csws. If I had a girl, she'd only wear dark purple!!

PhoenixGirl · 27/08/2006 21:20

An excuse to go shoppig for new outfits maybe csws?

Jasnem · 27/08/2006 21:21

Hi,
I'm not a teacher or an accountant. (Both my parents were teachers, and my mothers entire carers advice to me was "don't become a teacher")

csws -Shoes aren't real;ly necessary for crawling or cruising, you know.
dd1 was h fitting and had to have 1/2 size bigger than she needed to fit them when she started walking. She was only an h because they don't register higher. I bought the only shoes that fitted every time for the first five years (even if they have them in the "right" size, some styles are still no good) She is a g now and got a choice of 2 last year.
I bought very expensive designer shoes for her first pair, as they were the best fit, but the shop has closed down now.

dm - I have o levels, too (geriatric mothers unite!)

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/08/2006 21:21

You'd be dying most of her clothes yourself then mrm, as there's not that much available in deep purple!
Purple was very much my favourite colour years ago - even had a purple ballgown when I was at uni.

Right, signing off for the night now, as expecting DD to want at least 1 feed in the night, as she doesn't seem to have eaten so well this evening, and want to read in bed for a bit. Night all.

mrm - also why Im in primary, though really love teaching this age group too - good fun sometimes.

the majority of my DD's clothes is purple, and she will tell you her favourite colour is purple - brainwashed extremely successfully. I also own rather a lot of purple clothes - the last class I taught noticed this and would say things like Mrs Wilson loves purple and has lovely hairclips. Dh drew the line at purple rooms in the house.

God. stressful job when everyone speaks english - cant imagine when its multilingual!

Jasnem · 27/08/2006 21:22

Have you tried Startrite?

dewmeadow · 27/08/2006 21:22

yeah, jas!!

dewmeadow · 27/08/2006 21:23

for aging mums, not startrite!

Jasnem · 27/08/2006 21:23

I used to have purple hair....

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/08/2006 21:23

ok - just one more quick post!
Jas - I know they don't need shoes, but we have wooden floors, and DD is slipping when she tries to lift herself up, so thought they might help her get less frustrated.

one time me and my friend decided to dye our hair black (it was H..H...HArmony dye) and hers went a deep purple and mine went like a lilac rinse that a little old lady would put in her hair. OUr school was SOOOOOOOO strict on uniform so we washed our hair about 200 times, but I still had lilac curly wisps...

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/08/2006 21:26

Please stop making me want to post more!

I painted my bedroom in the first house I owned lilac, with a deep purple ceiling.

I tried to dye my hair black when I was 17 and it turned out purple instead .

Ah yes, startrite - remember them from my childhood - will check online tomorrow and see where sells them locally.

Sorry csws. Was I being very patronising?

I dyed my friends hair for her once with black dye and it went bottle green! She had forgotten that it had been henna'd

Jasnem · 27/08/2006 21:29

I painted my room in the nurses home (it was condemned so they let us do what we wanted) purple with black woodwork.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/08/2006 21:30

Not at all Jas .

Right, even dh is going to bed now, so I'm definitely off this time!

We're going out for a meal tomorrow Unheard of...I can't remember the last time we went out except to the pub with the kids.

PhoenixGirl · 27/08/2006 21:35
