CantSleepWontSleep · 09/08/2006 07:38

Right ladies - the race is on to see which of our DCs can self feed a sausage roll first!

Oh, and some of you don't seem to have aged since we got pregnant, so if you've got closer to your telegrams from the queen then please let me know!

Is gipping a northern term for being sick?

OP posts:
Jasnem · 20/08/2006 15:23

what is gipping?

PhoenixGirl · 20/08/2006 15:49

what about gagging then? that better.

Jasnem · 20/08/2006 16:19

gagging I understand...the only times boy does it (so far) is when I gave him apple (chunk)and a piece broke off in his mouth, and when I give him banana. I've tried various consistencies of banana and just decided he really doesn't like it.

Dairy's ok after 6 months isn't it? (philadelphia) I think so.

mustrunmore · 20/08/2006 18:06

Isnt soft cheese after a year? Will check in book in toilet next time I go

I've been to the fair today with the boys, and been told off by a policeman . None of you will ever guess what for.

PhoenixGirl · 20/08/2006 18:12

Well i'm pretty sure its now the thicker/lumpier food making him gag. He just had c & g roast turkey dinner powder that u mix with water and at first i made it quite thick, he was eating it but gagging. He had 3 spoons of it and gagged with every one so i added more water and he ate it fine.

Is anyone else using a walker? Lewis is like Michael Schumacher in his today, he just seems to have got used to it overnight, if we call him over now he knows wot to do to get to us. he goes forwards, backwards and sideways.

Jasnem · 20/08/2006 18:18

Tell us mrm. I'm rubbish at guessing. What were you told off for?

Well Phoenix, I suppose you'll just have to try introducing thicker things really gradually. You said he's managing finger foods though(?) so you know he doesn't have a problem swallowing.

No walker here. I haven't the space.

mustrunmore · 20/08/2006 18:30

Thought walkers gave you bandy legged kids?

Not telling; far more exciting to hear your guesses

SoupDragon · 20/08/2006 18:38

Philadelphia is cream cheese, not soft cheese which is stuff like Brie & Camenbere. It's Ok I guess if there's no dairy allergies in the family (not sure what's in Philly TBH. Assume it's cheese & ,er, cream?)

So proud... BabyDragon had her first McDonalds this week. OK it was just a french fry and I sucked the salt off first but you can call me ChavDragon from now on. Snigger. Pot Noodles next.

mustrunmore · 20/08/2006 18:49

Hope babydragon appreciated the toy

ds2 made a lunge for the candyfloss today, but settled for a rice cake.

SoupDragon · 20/08/2006 18:50

Heavens no, I didn't give her the toy. It wasn't suitable from birth

mustrunmore · 20/08/2006 18:53

Or did you just want it yourself?

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/08/2006 19:19

SD (or CD!) - are you just building her up to win the sausage roll eating competition?

mrm - go on tell. Did he want to arrest you for stealing the stars out of the sky to put in your eyes?

Yes, Philly fine for all except my DD.

Can't remember what else I read, as it was ages ago. Had in laws and some of their friends over this afternoon, and one of my good friends (with new man in tow) yesterday. Finally got round to asking her to be DD's Godmother, even though we've done nothing about arranging a Christening yet, and she naturally said yes.

OP posts:
Jasnem · 20/08/2006 20:07

did you get told off for public breast feeding?

SD you can stop worrying about dd not taking solids now. You obviously just have to give her MacDonalds.

mustrunmore · 20/08/2006 20:08

Nope

SoupDragon · 20/08/2006 20:13

BabyDragon has progressed from Wilful Refusal to Grudging Compliance with the weaning. I wouldn't say she is at all enthusiastic but she does at least open her mouth with a "Oh go on then. If it will get you off my back" kind of look about her. Rather odd pureed courgette and apple combo today followed by "baby led weaning" session of pasta twists, peas and sweetcorn on a tray. I saw her sneaking a pasta twist up to her mouth when she thought I wasn't looking.

Chloe55 · 20/08/2006 20:45

Just a quickie but want to say a huge thanks to MRM for the cot bumper, it is in use at the mo!! Won't be on much tomorrow either as I have another funeral Ds's second one in the space of about a month.

LM - if he eats the finger foods do you still need to give him the jars? Just a thought as I am trying to get ds off them now too and just stick to 'proper' food that he feeds himself - like McDonalds

at none of you guys understanding gipping - must be a northern thing.

mustrunmore · 20/08/2006 21:09

Glad it arrived ok

People down here class me as northern, although I dont think I am, and I didn't know that expression! But I do say shut intead of alley - does that include?

Frizbe · 20/08/2006 21:55

I understand gipping! I don't think I'm that northern I'm guessing he was just gipping as getting used to it all, then realised when you lobbed in the larger chunks, there was nothing to worry about with the smaller stuff
RE the jars thing I usually go with which ever will make my life easiest at the time!

Soupey, typical babydragon obviously, why bother with all that nice fruit n veg when you can have a McD's eh KFC next week?
(Pizza Hut would be far to nutritious)

CSWS that stars eyes comment really was a step too far

MRM go on tell us then! did you get told off for parking the pushchair on double yellows?

dd2 here made a fantastic lunge for dd1's chocolate icecream this evening (being held in a cone next to her!) got a mouthful of it before anyone could stop here, never mind only 2 weeks to go until 6 mths, dd1 not impressed by icecream theif got her own back and threw dd2's 'Skwish' at her nose just before bedtime, creating a naughty step incident.....

damewashalot · 21/08/2006 08:18

Just a quicky as off to the gym in a bit, got him booked into creche at 9-30, why did i think it was a good idea???? big 2 are back later the quiet has been nice but it will be nice to have them back.

So??????????????? what were you doing???????????

Flamesparrow · 21/08/2006 08:40

I'll be on proper later, just checkin in before Doctors Little man has had a temp for 4/5 days now, and has started yanking his ear, so I'm thinking ear infection....

SoupDragon · 21/08/2006 08:40

I do wonder why I bothered with the 6 months exclusive breastfeeding if this is what Baby Dragon's going to be like. In my defense, I did only give her the chip to keep her entertained. I thought "It's edible - no way will she put that in her mouth..." sigh.

mustrunmore · 21/08/2006 09:24

Ok, Ok, I'll confess...
I got reprimanded by a policeman for...
having ds2 asleep in a papoose
Was told to take him out and make him more comfortable.
My reply was that i'd love to, if the policeman was going to walk home with me to carry all my stuff and push the handle of ds2's bike up the hills, esp as ds2 was nearly asleep riding it.
He just grunted and walked off.
He was about 12, I swear.

Flamesparrow · 21/08/2006 09:37

One of DS's first things that he ate happily was a McD's chip - again, thought he'd just play, then realised he was biting off chunks and swallowing!!!

Back from docs - nothing obviously wrong (and according to him no temp, but I was expecting that... realised last month that he has an oddly low natural temp, so his high is most people's "slightly warm". I need to get them to record it in his notes, because they look at me like i'm insane when I try to tell them

So... what DID the police want?!?

Flamesparrow · 21/08/2006 09:43

sorry - x posts! DS is always much more comfortable in the sling than the pushchair
