Right ladies - the race is on to see which of our DCs can self feed a sausage roll first!

Oh, and some of you don't seem to have aged since we got pregnant, so if you've got closer to your telegrams from the queen then please let me know!

Evening all.

Great pics Chloe/lm.

Hotmama - not sure re bf. In some ways I'd like to stop now, and in other ways I can't imagine ever stopping! I think what I'd like is the flexibility of her taking a bottle so that I knew that she wasn't completely dependent upon me, plus the (hopefully) better sleep that formula might provide, but whilst still actually bf most of the time! Her hypoallergenic formula tastes so rank though that I'd feel guilty forcing her to drink just that. I made a cheese sauce for her earlier out of this formula and some fake cheese (made from soya and potato starch!) and when I licked a bit off my finger I actually gagged!! It was yukkity yuk yuk!

ellenrose - glad that the news re your mum isn't worse, but sorry to hear about fil.

mrm - glad break was good (or at least not bad!).

Couldn't decide what to do with ourselves this afternoon, so took DD up to Whipsnade for a couple of hours (have an annual pass so it's a free trip and I therefore don't feel that we have to go for the whole day to get our money's worth!). She seemed mesmerised watching the sealions through the glass in the side of their pool.

Right, need suggestions now ladies. Because DD simply doesn't sleep enough during the day, she is getting hysterical during bathtime, instead of loving it like she always has done, so I think we should change the bedtime routine so that her bath is a little earlier. But then what do we do with her after bathtime, as we don't want to get her all stimulated and awake again by playing with her toys? Is bath straight before bed for all of you? Ideally don't want to reintroduce a feed at that point in case it sets off her reflux again.

Hi,
I've forgotten most of what I wanted to say as usual...
Hope the missing kitten turns up.

Ellenrose - glad you have had a bit of good news for your mum. Starting the Chemo is a positive step. I hope your fil is as comfortable as he can be and has his family with him...

csws - sorry I really have no proper routine, don't bath him every day (though may have to soon as now he is taking solids he is getting grubby much more).

Breast feeding I intend to keep going as long as possible. 1 year would be good (to avoid formula at all) longer would be better. I only did 8 months each for the dds so I really have no idea. He's my last so that makes me want to carry on longer, but it's not as easy as I'd like. This week he has started biting me (he has no teeth yet, but very tough gums, and it hurts) and I am very tender. I know if I can last the next month til he gets settled on regular meals I will be feeding less frequently and should be able to continue.

BLW I too am chickening out a bit. He likes mush, and needs to be able to eat off a spoon (I am not giving him porridge to eat with his fingers). I am offering lots of chunks of things, but he eats rice cakes, and only tiny bits of everything else.

Lewsmummy · 16/08/2006 20:04

DS has gone to bed in his sleeping bag for the first time and fingers crossed he sounds asleep. Just hope it helps him stay asleep longer than the 4am its been all week (although he does go back to sleep)

I'm sure i had something else to say, i'll look and get back when i remember.

Jasnem · 16/08/2006 20:07

Ooooh yes... love the pics of Lewis and Oscar

Lewsmummy · 16/08/2006 20:10

Oh csws we don't bath ds every night but when we do its bottle, little bit of play, bath, pj's and then bed. That's over the space of an hour - milk 7, bath 7.45, bed 8.

He's def asleep now, his lullaby has stopped playing and there is silence. (apart from breathing obviously)

Frizbe · 16/08/2006 20:13

MRM glad you had a good few days away!
CSWS, we do bath (not every day) story then milk here before sleep, so you could just skip the milk bit?

3k · 16/08/2006 20:53

Ben said "Mum mum mum mum"!!!!!!! Yay!!!!

Will catch up with other posts in a sec, was very excited and just had to post!!!

Lewsmummy · 16/08/2006 21:02

Yay for that 3k. It really sounded like ds said dada on Sunday but i think it was just a noise (and he's got to say mama 1st) dh on the other hand is convinced he said it.

Chloe55 · 16/08/2006 21:10

God, I can't believe your babies are saying words - I am dying to hear what ds's voice will sound like.

I do bath at 6pm, bottle at 6.30pm and then he sits in his swinging chair whilst dh and I have tea, then we put him to bed at 7pm.

3k · 16/08/2006 21:34

I thought he said it yesterday but when I was giving him breakfast this morning I was saying Muuuuummmmmaaaa and daaaaaaaddddddddddaaaaaaaa and then tonight when he was having his dinner he just started saying it over and over. It was fab!!! DH just tried to video him saying it and he would speak a word!!! he just laughed at DH pulling faces and making noises

Cuffyj1 · 16/08/2006 21:51

I can't wait til Lewis says mama.

I'm shifting back to my old name btw. As someone put on another thread mummy names r boring. Not that Cuffyj1 is exciting.

3k · 16/08/2006 21:58

Ben did say it at around 4 months then forgot but tonight he said it over and over so fingers crossed it is here to stay.

Typing this with my parrot on my shoulder and she has pooed on me!! Great! Good job I'm going for a bath in a mo!

Amiable · 16/08/2006 21:59

Ellenrose ? so sorry to hear about your FIL - this is clearly not a good time for you. Glad that your mum is clear elsewhere, and able to start chemo soon. I am sending positive thoughts to all of you.

Lm ? love the photos of Lewis and Oscar ? they look like a real double act!

Soupy ? lol at image of hamster-dragon!

MRM - did you naange to get any sleep while you were away?

DD has a selection of sleeping bags (as she usually throws up on them after one night) ? two were presents from grandparents, and two I bought in the sales ? one at Mothercare and one at John Lewis. They are an absolute godsend, as DD is so wriggly, nothing else will stay put.

My parents came over today. it was lovely to see them, but DD was really off with my dad, and kept screaming whenever he tried to hold her! we always take the mickey out of each other, so there were lots of comments along the lines of, "well, she's learned early!" They brough a lovely pressie for her - a sleepsuit which says "if you think I'm cute, you should see my mum"! I daren't look at the Next catalogue - I love that place and if I had the catalogue I'm sure I would spend all our money on gorgeous things, instead of boring stuff, like rent and food!

Weaning is still going Ok - sone days better than others. She absolutely loves melon though - she finished of nearly a quarter of a whole Galia melon this afternoon

Amiable · 16/08/2006 22:00

that should of course say:
MRM - did you manage to get any sleep...

Frizbe · 16/08/2006 22:04

Ellenrose, sorry rushed post earlier, good news re your mum fingers x'd the chemo does the job and there's no further bother, re your FIL tho {{{Hugs}}}

3K great news re the speaking, wow! I do recall dd1's 1st word was bum don't know where she got that one from, but she was quite vocal with it for quite some time!!

CuffyJ1 · 16/08/2006 22:05

I'll warn u all now i am going to come up with a new name altogether tomorrow cos i don't like this anymore, so if there's a stranger on in the morning its probably me

mustrunmore · 17/08/2006 08:32

Come on then, the suspense is killing me!

Frizbe · 17/08/2006 08:59

come on cuffy!

dewmeadow · 17/08/2006 09:25

Charlie has still not returned and as he was sick I think it ia a bad sign. I cant get out of my head the thought of him lying in a field dead or dying. Sorry, thats sooo depressing AND I cant believe Im this upset over a kitten, especially when you read some of teh RL stuff on here - anyone read the regret thread?

So, onwards and upwards, Lola is lonely so going to get her a new friend.

Im reading this book atm " Sleep - the no-cry Solution" and when Ive worked out what you're supposed to do I think I may try it. Its a very gentle approach - absolutely no controlled crying here. We tried that with DD and it just didnt work - traumatic for everyone with no result. Ill let you know.. O yes, for you bfing mamas, she includes co-sleeping, bfing babies to sleep through, which sound samazing to me.

Lovely photos Cuffy or ????????

Lewsmummy · 17/08/2006 09:31

I'm thinking, it won't be owt exciting i'll tell u.

Jasnem · 17/08/2006 09:35

We're still waiting cuffy...????

Not looking good for Charlie
/you are as upset as you are. No point feeling guilty at feelings. Pets bacome family very quickly, and you have uncertainty to add to your worry.
'
No I haven't read regret thread. Is it a bad idea?

I'm not worried about his sleep (yet). It did occur to me last night that maybe I should be. I have no bedtime routine at all. I did feed to sleep , bed, up in ten mins, another feed, story, sit next to cot for 20 mins while he dropped off last night.

Jasnem · 17/08/2006 09:36

Sorry for terrible typing. Baby on knee, whinging girls behind me.

dewmeadow · 17/08/2006 09:42

jas - it was a couple of days ago and the stories were just so sad and life has been so hard to so many people. I couldnt respoond as felt inadequate.

Jasnem · 17/08/2006 09:46

I never know what to say on thread like that.

My life is a bumpy road, while so many people have huge hurdles and cliffs to navigate.

Lewsmummy · 17/08/2006 09:51

Help me think of one.
