CantSleepWontSleep · 09/08/2006 07:38

Right ladies - the race is on to see which of our DCs can self feed a sausage roll first!

Oh, and some of you don't seem to have aged since we got pregnant, so if you've got closer to your telegrams from the queen then please let me know!

Hello,

lewis's cot bumper and sleeping bag have come today but dh is at work til 11 so he'll b bringing home with him so i can't try them out til tomorrow.

Me and chloe have finally met today and i've got pics of Lewis and Oscar 'playing' that i'll post later.

Lewsmummy · 15/08/2006 21:39

Here they are

Lewis and Oscar and here and here

hotmama · 15/08/2006 21:49

Evening everyone.

I've also stopped going to WW as my weightloss has stopped at 9lbs. Will try again when stopped bf.

Frizbe - have you found you lose weight when you stop bf.

Those who are still bf - when do you intend to stop? Not sure what I am going to do.

Offered dd2 a carrot which she licked and lobbed - not very confident in BLW - think I may resort to my AK weaning book - anyone having any success?

Think I've got a blocked duct or am coming down with mastitis - my boob hurts anyway!

Chloe55 · 15/08/2006 22:02

Ah thanks Lewsmummy - they're fantastic. Have just shown DH and he can't believe the size difference he doesn't believe they are the same age

Oh, tried ds with a philidelphia sarnie and he loved it - no choking either!!!!

Soupy are you always on bloody holiday?

Lewsmummy · 15/08/2006 22:04

Chloe i think i pt different ones on the meet thread

Thell · 15/08/2006 22:10

Hello again!

Not really following beyond the last few posts each time I pop in (can't keep up!)so sorry if I get the wrong end of the stick...

Sally's lovely grobag cost me a fiver on eBay - would def recommend both

Lewis and Oscar are so big! Proper little chaps Can't believe my daughter might be sitting up soon. She's still mastering rolling around with a purpose (and without frustrated yelling).

Exercising chicks - muscle weighs more than fat as it's denser, so if you're exercising you could be losing fat and gaining muscle and maintain the same weight Hurrah!

Sally seems perfectly happy being exclusively breastfed, so I refuse to stress about introducing solids. I always intended to aim for 1 year bf-ing, to bypass the need for formula completely, but the more earth-mothery I get, the more I'm considering continuing. Will have to see when we get there...

Nice to catch up with you all again (a bit!) and know you're all still here

On another tack...someone donated a Motherease Airflow wrap recently, and I have fallen in love with cloth nappies again The Totsbots nappies were always lovely, but the tots wraps wick after less than 2 hours. Is this old news to you real-nappy users??

dewmeadow · 15/08/2006 22:14

teething monster all evening - poor wee man honestly, he is constantly teething and I can feel big lumps at the back - I think its his big teeth that are annoying him.

Kitten missing - went out to feed them and put them to bed and Charlie isnt there [panic] Does anyone know if kittens start to hunt/wander at all? ANd he was sick today - poor kitty

DS is a definite wriggler so think Ill invest in a sleeping/grobag to keep him warm in winter.

V impressed with coffee detox Flame - my only vice atm is black strong sweet (artificial of course) coffee - my fav is Lavazza, and it has no calories.

dewmeadow · 15/08/2006 22:16

like thinking of myself as an exercising chick

SoupDragon · 15/08/2006 22:19

BabyDragon goes to bed at 7 and is usually (or used to be) settled and sparko by 8. Then she used to wake at around 4am and up for the day at 7:30ish. Now she's waking at around 11pm or so and 2-3 hourly thereafter. Sigh. I think it's mainly being messed about with all her jet setting which kind of serves me right I guess.

All the carrot pieces vanished and I've not found a little pile of them anywhere so I'm guessing she was eventually forced to swallow them

3k · 15/08/2006 23:20

I have just got the bottles out of the steriliser and DH put a bowl in there not suitable for the microwave and it has melted 3 of the bottles luckily I had some tommee tippee ones so hope DS likes the different teets. I still have 5 avent ones luckily they were in the other steriliser!!!

Flamesparrow · 16/08/2006 07:56

Just on quick - Has Charlie turned up?????

SD - BabyDragon seems to be trying to keep DS company during the night , although I'm hoping that the caffeine detox will help him (got a temp right now though, so hard to tell!)

dewmeadow · 16/08/2006 08:07

no

Chloe55 · 16/08/2006 08:09

3k, I put 2 of my bottles on top of the microwave and used the grill device - outcome? A microwave topped with melted plastic!

Ds slept right through from 7.15pm - 7am!!!!!!!!!! yes yes yes yes yes!

emismum · 16/08/2006 08:36

Hi Hotmama, I stopped bf at 6 months and DD went onto to two solid meals a day almost immediately. She did much better at getting through the night once she was eating real food. Weight loss was pretty good once I stopped the bf, could not diet while I was feeding her myself as I always felt weak and ill. If you have the start of mastitis, go to your Doc, its horrible once it gets set in you can be really ill for days and days, like very bad flu! There's nothing worse than tryiung to look after a little one while you feel horribly grim. GOod luck. Susie M.

emismum · 16/08/2006 08:43

For anyone trying to lose weight after having a baby, I can reccommend the GI Jeans diet by Rosemary Conely, £6.99 in paperback. I've lost a stone in 5 weeks. Its low fat but big on taste. Most recipies are quick and easy to russle up, even hubby is joining in and has lost 11 Lbs!

damewashalot · 16/08/2006 09:36

Hello!

I may of said this before but I have found that bfeeding past 6mths seems to be what gets rid of the weight for me. DS1 I fed til 11mths and once I got to 6 mths the last stone just sort of fell off my hips, DS2 I only fed till 6mths and the last stone stayed there for 3yrs+ in fact I'd only just lost it when I fell pg this time So..... I am hoping that in a few weeks time I will start getting thinner

In answer to how long, I'm not sure, will see how it goes, it's very unlikely to be past 1yr.

Did charlie turn up? DH would think I'm mad, all worried about the kitten of someone I've never met!!

emismum · 16/08/2006 11:27

Damewashalot, you're a star to bf for so long, DD was taking 1 1/2 pints off me a day and was still hungry and not sleeping through the night. I was so drained, physically and liquidly that I had to resort to solids. Turned out it was just what she needed. She now mostly feeds herself for finger foods and is also happily grappling with a plastic spoon for more sloppy stuff. Needless to say the house is a tip as we have no time to do anything like housework as meals can take up to 1.5 hours !

dewmeadow · 16/08/2006 11:50

thanks for concern DWAL - no Charlie is awol and Im v

mustrunmore · 16/08/2006 14:15

I'm back
I'm knackered!

Chloe55 · 16/08/2006 15:48

Arrgghh! The house is a mess, my Avon is all messed up as I have products left over but no more orders, ds is really grumpy today, I have a friend over in a couple of hours and I have far too much washing to do!!!!

So, what do I do? Come on here of course

Emismum - are you new? If so, welcome. How old is your lo?

I hope Charlie turns up soon - it's so worrying when you have no idea where they are - no doubt he is just up to mischief though and will waltz back in without a care in the world.

ellenrose · 16/08/2006 15:57

With you all in the exercising but losing no weight - thank for the GI Jeans diet tip Emismum - must, must, must lose another stone before I go back to work

My Mums CT shows that the rest of her major organs are free of cancer so she can start chemo in two weeks - sounds mad to be excited about that but we were v worried it could have been worse. Unfortunately FIL is deteriorating badly so DH and SIL have just dashed down to Devon - thanks for all of your kind thoughts, they really are appreciated.

Maisie struggling to cut her first two teeth but gets v excited at the sight of her Nelsons teething granules so they obviously are helping

emismum · 16/08/2006 17:37

Hi Chloe 55 and Ellenrose, yes I'm new, just found the site yesterday. my lo is 10 1/2 months and has reached the stage of zooming around the house on all fours and trying to stand by pulling on anything, both solid and not ! Am frantically trying to reduce the dangers but she finds more as quickly as I remove one. Have ordered a play den in desperation. The GI diet is pretty workable, but no alcohol for the first 2 weeks which can be difficult for the wine lover. I'm still losing abour 2 pounds a week without feeling too deprived or bored with the low fat food suggestions. You do have to like quite Asian influenced and spicey food though as many recipies contain garlic, ginger and other strong flavours. I have started just making things up but following her cooking principles so its very versatile and really does work. I'm hoping to shift another stone before trying for another baby once DD has turned one (end of Sept 06).

Frizbe · 16/08/2006 18:49

Hi Emismum

Lol at the carrots soupey not sure about CSWS's idea tho

Hotmama, last time I stopped BF totally at 6mths and my weight was all off by 9, and I hadn't shifted any of it upuntil then this time I've shifted some weight already, but am hoping that last stone just disappears! and my boobs get back to a managable size asap

Lewsmummy great pics

Hi thell

3k, grr at the bottles

Dew kitten will turn up, probably just having a good look around!

dd2 has tried toast here this am, seems to like it! even tho a few weeks early, as we're the 2nd to last baby on the thread!

mustrunmore · 16/08/2006 18:58

Hello. just popping back to excuse myself for the short post earlier! Both ds's in bed now, in theory, although its very early for ds2. But my lodger is due any minute; moving back in tonight after working abroad for nearly 2 years (and we've moved house in the meantime too!). Sorry, I have read through all this, but you know what its like when you try to catch up. Hastings was great, and actually not too bad considering we had 3 adults, 3 kids and a baby all in the same room! But I still haven't had time to wash the sand out of my hair!
