CantSleepWontSleep · 09/08/2006 07:38

Right ladies - the race is on to see which of our DCs can self feed a sausage roll first!

Oh, and some of you don't seem to have aged since we got pregnant, so if you've got closer to your telegrams from the queen then please let me know!

I read the thread Dewmeadow - didn't want to post because my regrets just seemed so trivial in comparison.

Cats do often go walk about and you haven't had him that long so he probably won't assosciate your house as home yet iyswim. However, the fact he is just a little kitten is a bit worrying. Oh, and don't get bothered about being upset over him, I cry buckets if the slightest thing happens with my animals.

Talking of which (not sure if you have posted this and I have missed it 3k and huge apologies if so) but how is you dog doing now?

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/08/2006 10:17

Morning all.

Cuffy - your name should be personal to you, so you ought to be best placed to pick one! The name Lewis, however, tends to remind me of lovely Sergeant Lewis from Inspector Morse, so you could always be SergeantLewis.

I read the beginning of the regrets thread. Felt so sad for those girls that I couldn't read much further.

Sorry to hear about Charlie. I've never really been a pet person (allergic to most) so struggle with saying anything helpful in these situations!

dm - Franny is always going on about that book, so would be interested to hear your thoughts. Co-sleeping just doesn't work for us here, as she wants to play if she's with me, and feeding to sleep not good for us either due to reflux, but would be interested to know if she has any other thoughts (although not such a problem for us since our little go at CC).

Well done Ben on his first words.

Thanks for the info on your bedtime routines ladies. I might try the story one for a bit and see how we get on.

What do u think?

Loosely related to yorkshire, the ricket team r yorkshire phoenix.

Told u it'd be crap

PhoenixGirl · 17/08/2006 10:41

That's cricket

Frizbe · 17/08/2006 10:45

works for me, although I might start thinking your flame with another name change

PhoenixGirl · 17/08/2006 10:49

It took me ages to think of that and i only thought of it anyway cos my rl friend said she was changing hers to BarnsleyTykes.

Jasnem · 17/08/2006 10:52

I like it ( but consistently spell phoenix wrong, so please forgive me in advance when I do)

Jasnem · 17/08/2006 10:52

Thell · 17/08/2006 10:56

I really like it, Phoenixgirl!

Makes mine seem a bit dull !

PhoenixGirl · 17/08/2006 10:57

Jas, i had to check before i put it and probably wouldn't even notice if u spelt i wrong

Jasnem · 17/08/2006 11:00

I really need a new name too. I mentioned it on the other name thread and killed the thread though.

Any suggestions?

Thell · 17/08/2006 11:06

If I could think of a good name Jasnem, I'd keep it for me!!

DD is saying mama now - was sure it was an accident for ages, just repeating consonant sounds, but now she seems to be directing it at me! lovely baby

me on the other hand - terrible mother
we went to broadstairs yesterday, and she's got red cheeks and nose today
was cold and horrible when we got there, but the sun came out and obviously her hat didn't completely shield her.

Thell · 17/08/2006 11:09

sorry if we've discussed it before, but which cloth nappies and wraps are you guys using?
and are you happy with them?

Jasnem · 17/08/2006 11:19

at talking babies.

Nappies. I'm using something similar to tots bots (I think). They are seconds that I got off ebay for £1 each.
My top wrap is motherease airflow (I only have one as I bought a variety for tryig them out, but he's almost ready for the next size up and I'm going to get 3)

PhoenixGirl · 17/08/2006 11:34

Have i set eeryone off wanting a new name now.

How did everyone come up with there nicknames?

Jasnem · 17/08/2006 11:45

My dds are called Jasmine and Emily.

Chloe55 · 17/08/2006 12:00

I always abbreviate and your name abbreviates to PG so I guess some parental guidance is needed with you phoenixgirl. I like it btw, used to have a cockatiel called phoenix.

My name comes from a dog I used to own and 55 because 5 is my favourite number but I couldn't have it on it's own, must be a chloe5 about somewhere! I'm like you though pg, I should have lurked first and realised that mum/mummy/numbers in a nickname are considered crap

Debating whether to go to the gym and put ds in the creche there, it's £12 to join and £3.50/hour so would be an expensive gym outing but really don't want to go tonight after I will have eaten and just want to relax, hmmmm what to do.

PhoenixGirl · 17/08/2006 12:15

I know u do chloe, that's why the first name i came up with isn't been used, BarnsleyJo ie BJ = Blow Job

Chloe55 · 17/08/2006 12:21

My dh's initials are BJS, that always makes me chuckle. Mine are HMS though and mum's used to be PMS

PhoenixGirl · 17/08/2006 12:54

mine are JMC (airline)

dewmeadow · 17/08/2006 13:41

pg could be mixed up with pregnant! But I love Phoenix - magical and powerful, and I loved that book when I was wee -The Phoenix and the Carpet. Is it a northern english thing or something - Phoenix nights, etc? (I lOVE Peter Kaye - I just ROFL the whole time.

Well, we have a new Charlie. DD said to me this morning - Charlie's lost, we'll have to buy a new Charlie. She also referred to going to the "Charlie shop" SHe wants to call this one Charlie too. I dont think shes missing him!! So, I phoned the vet and we got a number of a lady had two. He's black and white, fluffy and quite big, and I hope he gets on with Lola. THis afternoon will be spent bonding. Actually I phoned this other woman who had 5 hedgehogs!! Couldnt get off the phone from her.

My initials are dew, and I thought dew in the meadow, which is sort of pastoral and natural, and I love that sort of thing. I couldnt be bothered changing mine - quite enjoyed my brief evening of militancy when there were revolutionary name changes.

I like calling you Jas, as in jazz - its quite funky in my head

Thell · 17/08/2006 13:45

my nickname comes from my / my husband's friend, who always referred to me in emails as 'the lovely lisa', which she then shortened to thell

she's the one who introduced me to MN - her name here is Lio, though I have no idea why.

mustrunmore · 17/08/2006 13:48

My name is fairly self evident the old one was ds1's nickname backwards... not very inspired.

mustrunmore · 17/08/2006 13:49

Flame... got your CAT. Look out for the postie when I've been bothered to sort it out!!

Thell · 17/08/2006 13:50

Dewmeadow - I followed your link to the revolutionary thread and was all set to stomp in as THELLson Mandela (or Nelson ManTHELLa) - then realised the party had ended ages before!

I like the shortened 'Jas' too - although it's probably unfair to your little Em...
...come to think of it, will you now have to become Jasemandle??
