Little life backpacks are great. Ds has a giraffe!

StormyBrid · 05/04/2014 10:45

Oh good Christ, that man's getting the mother of all bollockings when I see him. I was just putting the rest of his stuff in a box for him to take away. There's a bookcase at the top of the stairs, half a shelf free at the bottom that he'd filled with guitar magazines and what I thought were loose CDs. They're not CDs, they're porn. With graphic pictures on, right where DD can get at them.

Plonkysaurus · 05/04/2014 11:12

Ood it was either giraffe or dinosaur. As you might be able to tell by my nickname, I have something of a soft spot for dinosaurs.

Stormy...that would be a deal breaker for me. Hugs? Beer? Toffee crisps? Big Brew and a stompy walk?

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 05/04/2014 11:14

As he isn't answering texts or calls, I'm currently doing my best to resist the urge to post on his facebook wall asking him to come and move the porn he left in DD's reach. The public shaming is so very tempting...

Plonkysaurus · 05/04/2014 11:20

Maintain the high ground. Personally I'd wait until he bothers to show up and just give them to him. I wouldn't say anything because looks can say so much more than words.

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 05/04/2014 11:50

Texted him and told him he's got until bin day to collect his shit. Including the porn. Although rather than binning I will probably sell the remaining guitars.

OohOod · 05/04/2014 12:06

I'd go with the FB thing but I'm rather rash Blush

StormyBrid · 05/04/2014 12:25

It's taking all my strength to resist. Just a shame he's already taken the guitar that cost thousands.

BettyOff · 05/04/2014 13:24

Hi all, big sqidgy hug to Wors. As others have said it's great that DD isn't breathless and is is well with it but must have been a shock for you. I can completely understand taking her out of nursery for now.

DD is feeling fairly miserable but on the plus side of that she slept through the night and so did I (my first time in 1.5yrs)! Other than the impending cold I feel amazing!

Stormy I'd be beyond furious. Sorry! Hope you manage to find him and bollock him enough!

Plonk I'm pro reins too and will be investing in one of the backpacks for DD when the time comes. She already copies the dog so it'll just add to that!!

StormyBrid · 05/04/2014 13:30

Huzzah for sleep, Betty! Fingers crossed for the same tonight. You're definitely overdue a lot of good nights.

yummychocolate · 05/04/2014 17:45

Oh wow betty how did it feel to sleep through? Fingers crossed she sleeps through again tonight. Did you do anything different?

stormy give him a slap from me.

eco week 3 went well. Now I have the prices for the nurseries in my area I now have to visit them. One nursery has a waiting list of 1 year.

we definitely need doggy leads here. Ds runs away from me now so I have to be extra quick with him. Ds is in his element with imitating us now. He gets the dustbuster and tries to hoover. He also gets a cloth and tries to dust. Im a bit excited that ds will be grow up knowing household chores are for boys too.

ecofreckle · 05/04/2014 18:53

Quick wave and quick question if I may. We've come away without wonder weeks book. Can anyone tell me any of the stuff we should we should be doing to help them through the week 55 one and what it's all about please? It's all sorts of Angry and Sad and food refusal baby here and I wish I could help! Thank you and happy evening.

worsestershiresauce · 05/04/2014 19:04

You lot are brilliant Thanks thanks so much. I'm feeling much more positive today, which is in part down to your positive stories, and also Toddleworse's obvious energy. Having kicked the tonsillitis into touch she's once again firing on all cylinders and full of beans. I get a little paranoid about the wheeze which may or may not be down to a bad throat, and the fact she sometimes looks a little pale, but all in all she seems fairly healthy.

Stormy I have no words. This is unusual! The CD collection I have an idea for. The tip.

Betty Yay for sleep, you've more than earned it. Fingers crossed this is the beginning of a new sleep schedule for you both.

Stormy apparently our house was on escape to the country once, but I have no idea how to track down the episode. I'm not sure I'd want to either. It was dump, the verdict from the potential buyers was probably not good.. and I don't want to be put off my own house as I'm pretty much stuck with it now!

Reins... I'm all for reins. So much so I have actually bought 2 sets. Both are sh*te, so if you are idly wandering around Boots, don't buy theirs. The reins bit attach at the bottom of the harness. This is patently pants. They need to attach at the top, or at the very lowest the middle. Mess with that logic and you end up with a badly placed fulcrum and a toddler who is tipped forward by any tension what so ever. Perhaps that is the point. Who knows. Being tipped on your face would be a fairly good disincentive to running way from mummy.

Speaking of toddlers it is evening milk time, according to mine.

StormyBrid · 05/04/2014 19:10

I'll check the book after this smoke, eco. WW55 is all about programs - doing the dishes, going to the shops, whatever, understanding it as the same thing even if it's done in a different way. It's been a good one here. DD is now 56 weeks, and in the past week she's realised what food is for, taken an interest in tv programmes, not just adverts, and she's gone from extended falling over to walking across a room and steering in motion in the space of a week. Hell of a mental leap, clearly! I took her to my dad's earlier. There was a cat in the garden. She clocked it and shouted, "Dat! Meow!" Hasn't got the hang of C yet. Then we went in, drank tea, had lunch, chilled out. Back door was open, and she took herself off, climbed down the doorstep, and made a break for the dead space at the bottom of the garden behind the garage. Caught her and brought her back, put her down, and whoosh, she was off again. Awesome to watch.

StormyBrid · 05/04/2014 19:17

As for tracking down house programme episodes, depends on the channel I suppose. I think mine was on Channel 4, because I recall ages ago poking around on 4OD, and seeing the thumbnail image of the episode in question - the view down the street my terrace is at, with a very distinctive Methodist chapel on the other side of the t junction at the end. I went to a playgroup behind that chapel, way back in the eighties.

Plonkysaurus · 05/04/2014 19:38

YY Stormy I was blown away when the Wonder Week fog lifted this time! We don't speech yet but the range of sounds and obvious understanding when we him where x is. He points a lot and says 'der!' he went from crawling to cruising in the blink of an eye, he can sort of use his shape sorter, he points the tv remote at the telly and dances when I ask if he'd like to listen to the radio. On the other hand he now hates naps and vegetables seem to possess some kind of evil poison that only he is susceptible to.

Eco It shall pass, and be all the sweeter for it!

Worse glad you're feeling slightly better about things. DS seems to have a cough on and off, related to all manner of things - the cat looking at him, teething, and the changeable weather to name a few. Hope DD is fine and you can relax a little bit. Oh and thank you for the Aveeno recommendation, he truly has baby soft skin now and only one or two angry looking patches left.

Right, I'm away to drink wine and do something with prawns and peas.

OP posts:
Shatteredmamma1 · 06/04/2014 07:23

Prawns and peas! Was it a risotto plonk? Sounds yummy.,

Worse glad you're doing ok, fingers crossed you get your appointment ASAP and hopefully have your mind put at rest.

Eco I'm doing 2.5 days officially but that's about 25-28 hours depending on the week so long days!! How's the house etc? Hope WW passes very soon...

We have another nursery bug Sad poor boy. He's so miserable!!!

Everyone else hope you're ok Grin

somethingbeginningwith · 06/04/2014 09:59

We'll be reining too. I had them when I was little and apparently it was lots of fun. I can imagine DS being the type to run into the road to chase a bee or something so anything to stop that is worth it in my books.

Gah, DP is being a pain this weekend. Nothing is his fault! He let go of DS on our bed yesterday and he fell backwards so I picked him up and snuggled him while he cried but DP just got angry and kept to himself for a couple hours. Today, he dropped the baby scissors protector on the floor, obviously an accident, so when I saw DS with it going all in his mouth, I grabbed it off him and said 'oh no, you let this drop on the floor' to which he replied 'oh, I did, did I? It was my fault?' Erm...yes. It's not that I was cross, I was just making an observation. To make it right, after a good few minutes of sulking, he threw a cushion at me but "I didn't react right" because I didn't laugh so he's sulking again. Grr! It's like he was mad at himself but took it out on me! Men!

But anyhoo, me, DS and my friend are off to the farm today so he has all day to sulk and wash the pots, he better bloody wash the pots

BettyOff · 06/04/2014 18:42

Wow, quiet weekend. Is there fun being had? X

StormyBrid · 06/04/2014 21:02

Pretty quiet weekend here. Spent most of it making a big proud fuss of DD and her awesome zombie lurching. Also watching Game Of Thrones at last when she's been asleep. My sister is horrified that I've not yet seen it. I suggested she might like to take DD off my hands for three days when they're here the week after next, so I'd have the chance to watch it all. Alas, she didn't go for it.

Pudtat · 06/04/2014 21:28

Ahhhh Stormy. That's why I stuck with bf... Got through seasons one and two at stupid o'clock in the first 6 weeks and just finished season 3.

BettyOff · 07/04/2014 06:06

I'm trying to stop feeding DD at night & so last night when she woke up at 3 we spent an hour trying to settle her back into her cot, then she came into our bed where she spent 90mins screaming, biting, scratching and pinching. I've given in & am feeding her now & going to get up but I've got a stinking cold & having been up since 3 feel like complete shite.

Stormy I haven't seen game of thrones either. I do love a boxset though & we're currently on season 6 of the West Wing having missed it first time round.

Happy Monday everyone. Brew

yummychocolate · 07/04/2014 07:59

betty techniquely its morning so you managed to go through the night without feeding. Yay!

Ahh i love boxsets but i get competitive with myself andwant see it back to back. My all time favourite is friends.

We are a snotty and ill household. Must be the change of weather. Hot cold hot cold. I have no idea how to dress my self or ds.

StormyBrid · 07/04/2014 08:04

I feel a fraction of your pain, Betty - damned cats have had me up since 4am. And DD woke me four times and needed tucking in again twice. Gotta love that groggy as hell Monday morning feeling.

Plonkysaurus · 07/04/2014 08:31

Ah, Mondays. Perfect weather for a Monday here, wet and cold. I quite like the odd bit of wet and cold though.

We've had a very busy weekend. After much searching, I've finally found a photographer who does what we want, doesn't cost the earth, and is available. We bought our rings too, and braved going into Wagamama again (last time we were there DS managed to get covered in hot water in a dummy-cleaning session). I have woken up to cat sick so I think today will be of a rather different tone.

Betty it sounds like you have a stubborn one. But you knew that. Do you co-sleep or just bring her in with you when she seems to need it? I can imagine that breastfeeding and cosleeping go hand in hand, and have absolutely no advice but I've read that some babies refuse to be night-weaned until they're good and ready. Perhaps DD is making you play a long game?

Stormy has the man bothered to show his face yet?

I've never seen Game of Thrones. I have an aversion to anything that comes highly recommended. But we have been watching Vikings on Amazon video whatever it's called these days. I'd recommend that, if I were the type to recommend things. Right! Best get cracking. Happy Miserable Mondays anyone.
