Happy Birthday Toddlepud - is there any cake left? I could murder a slice...

Aldan · 17/03/2014 07:20

Not had a chance to keep up with the thread for a couple of weeks - it moves fast!

Hope all the babies who've now turned 1 had great birthdays Grin

Gerry good luck for the interview

DS has his molars coming so we've had a bad weekend. He actually slept all night tho yay but he's got a temperature again now. Time for calpol Hmm

StormyBrid · 17/03/2014 08:24

Yes, we are a rather chatty bunch, aren't we?

Nothing to report here except a rare night of good sleep all round. Squeaks at 10pm, milk at 6.30am, blissful silence in between.

Plonkysaurus · 17/03/2014 08:45

Happy belated birthday ToddleTat your birthday pictures on FB are lovely.

Ood! Nice to see you. Am I right in thinking you have four young children and have just gone back to work? You might be my hero.

Aldan it might be fair to say that we have verbal diarrhoea. I wouldn't worry about keeping up, just post when you want. These molars are a bitch aren't they!

I bought a pair of short shorts yesterday. To wear with tights and boots/converse, natch. But I'm a bit worried now that I'm a mother trying to reclaim her lost youth. And my ass might be too big. AIBU? I'd love to have the confidence to wear them but I think they might be 'wearing me'. Bollocks. I used to be so cool.

Happy Belated Birthday Toddlepud and anyone else I have missed.

Hello Ood great to see you back again. So glad everything is going well with you all.

Betty I am very jealous of your words. We have none, unless you count Mamamamama- MAmamama which is a generic sound for generally hacked off with the world, or happy babble, depending on the intonation. She understands various words. Pingu for one. Is that bad?! I blame DH entirely for this. It does intrigue me though, how Pingu can be so utterly absorbing to the toddler mind when every other form of TV is just not interesting.

Gerry I'm crossing everything for you today.

Stormy glad the man pulled his socks up and well done on avoiding F1. I had the whole thing explained to me. I may have been doing that thing that men do of listening but not really. The word mercedes went in, as did something about Lewis Hamilton and engine trouble. Beyond that I have no clue and have no desire to acquire one

Toddleworse is over her tonsillitis and onto the next best thing - a horrible chesty cough. Poor little thing. I have finally succumbed to proper illness after weeks and weeks of hanging in there trying to avoid getting whatever it is she has. Chest infection I think. Certainly sounds like one. Bit tedious whatever.

Eco how'd the weekend go? Find anywhere nice?

worsestershiresauce · 17/03/2014 10:59

Plonky I forgot about the shorts! How rubbish of me. Meant to say - wear them you silly moo. You aren't nearly old enough to be worried about lost youth. You're still in it! Me on the other hand.... probably ought to cover my knees Grin

Oodalpha · 17/03/2014 15:26

plonky I've 4 but only 2yoing ones. Other 2 are teens I won't spoil it by saying they're harder than toddlers

BettyOff · 17/03/2014 18:12

I'd wear them Plonky and I'm pretty sure I've got a couple of years on you!

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 17/03/2014 18:27

Plonk- you're what, size 10/12? I'd walk around naked if I was that size!

Interview seemed to go really well. The head has promised to call some time between 8 and 10 with a decision. At which point, if I am offered the job, I shall politely decline. Not right for me for so many reasons. But it'll be nice if they offer regardless, and will hopefully prove to be both good experience and good bargaining power in my current school...

yummychocolate · 17/03/2014 19:36

Good evening ladies, if you wanted to visit the lake district during easter where would you visit? I need help choosing a destination.

ecofreckle · 17/03/2014 20:21

Yummy easter will be busy. I'd therefore choose off the beaten track a bit because I like my lakes peaceful. So with that in mind I'd suggest north west lakes. I love crummock water, loweswater, buttermere and ennerdale. Town of cockermouth nearby and very nice. Also forest at whinlatter. If you have a special occasion then Ann's Hill is lovely. Google it! Enjoy :-) Jealous!

Plonky. Get. Those. Bloody. Shorts. On! I am ancient and I wear that uniform regularly. Thick tights, often coloured, shorts, boots or flat shoes or trainers. Go for it girl. One thing's for sure; when you're my age you'll be looking at photos of yourself when your twenty something thinking 'why was I so unsure of myself? I was so cute and perky I could have worn ANYTHING and looked fab'.

Ood hello :-) I bet you're a dairy free pro now? I tried a dairy free cake for dd as she has a dairy free friend and she wanted to share, and it was a hit.

Worse how are you feeling now? At least the sunshine helps when you're feeling poo. I've had this asthma cough cold snot ear ache thing for a week now and the sun does help. We might put an offer in on a boring 1970's box of a house that will be very practical. Can you tell it doesn't set my heart alight? But some bits of life are about practicality I guess. How dull!

Pud did you have happy birthday times with dh?

Can't remember what else is going down. I'm baby sitting tonight so am chore free. I do have my sewing machine with me though as good friends had a baby yesterday Smile

ecofreckle · 17/03/2014 20:23

oh yeah, dumb arse, I forgot your news gerry! Great work on getting your interview done and having the best outcome for now. You know you'll say no so no agonising tonight. Plenty of Wine in celebration of it being over I hope.

OodlesofOods · 17/03/2014 20:24

yummy I love Coniston and it's quieter than Windermere. What do you want from the trip?

Aldan · 17/03/2014 20:49

Another vote for you to wear the shorts plonky Grin

worsestershiresauce · 17/03/2014 20:50

I just wrote a long post and lost it, thanks to a stupid wi-fi mouse. Why we can't have a normal mouse on a lead I really don't know... pi55es me off and a bad workman blames his tools

I'll have to settle with a night all, well done to Gerry and a practical house never lets you down to Eco.

somethingbeginningwith · 17/03/2014 21:00

I can confirm that the shorts were a success! Smile

Plonkysaurus · 18/03/2014 07:22

Thanks all for the shorts advice Grin I have been stuck in a jeans a tee shirt rut.

Eco sometimes you do have to be practical, it's true. Would you not want to rent for a bit so you can keep house hunting? May it be that bedfordshire just isn't right?

Worse I hope you feel better soon.

Yummy we're considering having our honeymoon in the lakes (we'd be taking ds) so let us know how you get on.

What was the verdict Gerry? Such a nice position to find yourself in!

I was planning on working from home today but dp has man flu, so it's a day in the office to escape his moaning. Thank god ds is well enough to go back to nursery. Hopefully there'll be office

the lodge

Anns Hill

Plonk we had our honeymoon in the lakes. I bloody loved it. I loved having no travel stress. I loved driving away the day after our wedding with our just married sign hanging in the rear window. I loved wearing my 'going away outfit' and stopping in waitrose on the way up and being made a fuss of by customers and staff. I loved that we didn't care about the rain because it was still beautiful. I loved hill walking by day and decadence and peace and quiet by night. We started off at the lodge and ended up at Ann's Hill. I wonder if my links on the phone have worked. Be careful though or you might come away from the experience with a baby in your belly like me Grin

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 18/03/2014 09:05

Well I was offered the job, and promptly turned it down. The head sounded quite sad about it and said very nice things about me which was nice to hear. I think he half expected it as he had hinted in the interview that he didn't think I wanted them as much as they wanted me. I thought I might wake up this morning full of regret but a sunny day off with my baby girl has confirmed I'm not ready to be full time just yet, and if I'm staying part time I feel my current school is the best place for me. Now to book a meeting with my head and see if he can find me a new, part time challenge!

Aldan · 18/03/2014 09:09

Well done Gerry Grin and enjoy your sunny day off, it's raining here Hmm

StormyBrid · 18/03/2014 09:31

yummy I asked my aunt, who spends a lot of time ambling around the Lake District. She suggests Keswick or Ambleside, says the b&b rates should be good there. I have no idea though! Only time I've ever been to the Lake District was to scatter my grandparents' ashes last year.

My brother's in the garden with a drill, gaining man points. It's fun to watch.

yummychocolate · 18/03/2014 10:01

Thank you all for all the lake district suggestions. We just want to get away from noisy stressful london. Dh is knackered and looks as if he has aged in the space of 6 months. Running your own business is not as easy as we thought. Ds absolutely loves nature. Whenever he sees soil or plants it goes straight in his mouth. I am just bit annoyed that dh never thought of going away at Easter. Why does everything have to be my idea?!

gerry well it is good you got the offer and I hope you now have the confidence to go to interviews in the future. Have faith in yourself.

plonky I admire you when you wah with a toddler. How on earth do you get any work done? I know it is not over familiar friday but I bet you looked hot in your shorts.

stormy that is a great thing about brothers. They can be very helpful especially with diy and carrying heavy things. I do wonder what it would have been like if I had a sistertoo.

ood sorry I should have greeted you in my previous post. Am I right you posted when the babies were newborn? I lurked for a bit during the earlier stages but the thread moved too fast for me to post. Happy belated birthday to toddleood.

Anyone wonder how the lady with the twins is getting on? I think her name was mandas. This was way back in the antenatal thread.

I better go ds is unravelling the sellotape.

Plonkysaurus · 18/03/2014 11:38

Yummy I couldn't do it without sending him to nursery! There's no way I could get anything done with him at home - unless he's ill and sleeping for long stretches of course.

The shorts are awesome, I just fear I may be somewhat too wobbly of thigh...

Eco no baby making planned for at least another 6 months. Preferably Christmas. I do not have the strength for that!

Have arrived at the office to find an utter lack of cake. FFS.

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 18/03/2014 12:02

Yummy, that was mandasand. She had a boy and a girl, whose names rhymed when shortened. No idea how they're getting on though. It's odd, the way most of the women from the early days of the antenatal group disappeared. It's TheTramp I always wonder about. She just disappeared, and I asked on thread where she'd got to and if she'd had her baby yet. Someone else answered that she "doesn't have a baby." And that was it. An odd way of phrasing it, I thought;made me wonder if anything dreadful had happened.

As for sisters, they can also be very handy (although not with a drill in the case of mine). Good for drunken company, babysitting, and general support in all things. Can't wait to see mine at Easter.

I can't find a Cake icon for Plonky on my phone. Alas!

OodAlpha · 18/03/2014 14:45

I've a couple of the older ones on FB. Incl Mandasand, twins are doing well. I've just checked back (name matching!) and that includes TheTramp and she's ok and did have a baby so think something just have got lost in translation there

yummy yes I was on ANthread and early on PN but dropped off when ds was tiny. I posted after he was poorly but think that was about it.
