Oh Christ Boba, he lost his wedding ring on Valentine's Day?! Confused There isn't a doghouse big enough...though bet the guilt is doing the job!

I've considered adoption as well, and you're right about the criteria- generally younger child and four years, so if you wanted to adopt an older child you're waiting years. I understand why, but you hope there would be a bit of flexibility.

Hope DS improves aethel...and I know seven, I know, even as I was typing that I thought 'I'm cursing everyone to weeks of spectacular illness here...' Grin I do remember about the trike, that's brilliant news! And arriving just in time for summer.

mopsytop · 16/02/2014 12:46

Where is everyone? Having fab weekends I hope!

We got Minimopsy her first bed and just put it up ... she LOVES it!

Figster · 16/02/2014 16:41

Enjoying the sun here took DS out for lunch after the wildfowl trust he was an obnoxious embarrassing little git shouting constantly he used to be so good when our eating now he's horrid Angry we were supposed to be going out with friends b4 they have baby at end of month but their 6yo was unwell so decided to make most of day.

Mopsy good luck tonight with bed DS is staying in his cage for as long as we possibly can manage

TheOnlySeven · 16/02/2014 18:48

Same as figgy, I've no intention whatsoever of her having a proper bed anytime soon! Not sure what to do about marathon weekend though, she's staying at my parents, they have a single bed which she's never slept in before and a travelcot, not sure if she'll still fit in it though and if she does we'd have to send our one as well for DD2.

Can't remember who asked about queen. She was posting on the Christmas countdowners thread, haven't seen her there for a couple of weeks though.

Horrible day with horrible whingey DS and DD1. DS screamed at me about not wanting to get his pjs on, early nights all round! I'm looking and feeling massive already, look more 5-6 months than 11 weeks, it's hard too not just flabby Blush. DH is terrified it might be twins, and I'm not overly calm myself.

Aethelfleda · 16/02/2014 19:07

DS seems OK now (phew! I hates vomity bugs). We have had an outing to London and survived (!) but the DDs are now very tired... It's still the stage where I need DH to feel comfy doing the tube with three plus a buggy. My back twinges if I carry DS about now so the sling has been retired, it's hands and a littlelife rucksack most of the time and the buggy when he's tired.

How's everyone doing?

QueenofClean · 17/02/2014 07:39

Hiya..,I'm lurking at the moment thanks for asking Mopsy . I'm not feeling myself at the moment my OCD has gone into overdrive :( DD2 is very hardwork and is making me feel suffocated :( DH is being brilliant indoors and with both the girls so just concentrating on getting my OCD under control. My week goes on routine and if it goes a little awry then I get freaked out. DD1 behaviour has made a massive improvement thanks to new visual aids made...old ones falling apart...going to group & 1:1 sessions to help her control her sensory meltdowns is helping a lot. Only issue was over my birthday last weekend she went into sensory overload due to excitement and it came out as frustration and anger :(

Anyway, hope all babies are feeling better and everyone having a good start to the year.

NorthernChinchilla · 17/02/2014 19:17

Hey Queenie, sorry to hear you've not been great. This time of year and weather is not good for MH all round...but glad to hear that DD1 is improving with the support in place. Keep posting though, it's good to vent.

I'd been wondering about Xiao too, especially as she said it was typical of her illness to retreat from everyone...but if she's just jet-setting about that's much better Grin!

We've had a really busy weekend mopsy, had our lovely builder round Friday night to scan the jobs, and then round most of Saturday doing the prep work for the dishwasher installation, getting the range wired in (it works, joy of joy of joys!!) and sorting the lighting in the back bedroom, then our Valentine's meal in the evening. Sunday we bought half of Wilko's and made the spare room useable, which we need for guests next weekend (and we're away this weekend).

Figgy, we only eat out with DS is he's asleep, or we can be guarenteed to be in and out in half an hour...unless you have a placid toddler, they're just too active at this age for 'eating out'.

Is your scan this Wednesday seven, or next week? The Dec '11 thread's first twins eh Wink?

TheOnlySeven · 17/02/2014 20:06

Good to see you queen, glad to hear DD1 is improving.

northern it's this Wednesday. I will not be having twins though, I'll choose denial instead :o

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 17/02/2014 20:35

Ooooh, baby denials, love 'em! Wink Can't wait to hear, I'll be logging on on Wednesday before we travel just to find out!

Am tackling a mountain of washing up, and doing four loads of washing this evening, it's just such fun....

Figster · 18/02/2014 09:35

Home today didn't get home until 8.15 last night after train from London was cancelled then the next one late, diverted, extra stops and on and on and on. Hurt my neck carrying laptop bag too Confused

DS was horrid this morning wouldn't eat breakfast dropped and broke a toy, wouldn't get shoes on, brush his teeth, he then hit dh in the face with a DVD box when he was told no tv. He hates being shouted at he runs into a corner holding his face crying but it doesn't stop him from doing it again. Feeling very shouty at the moment his behaviour is not good!!

mopsytop · 18/02/2014 11:56

Where are you off to Northern? I am sure I should know this but my pin brain has forgotten. Excellent news re: range woohoo!

Welcome back Queen, sorry things are tough.

Figgy, ugh re: commute :( it sucks.

It actually got light half way through my drive to work this morning. It is SO much nicer driving in daylight. But my new anti-glare lenses in my specs do actually also make a helpful difference in the dark.

Right better go finish writing this lecture for tomorrow...

mopsytop · 18/02/2014 11:56

PS aethel, glad the vom bug has gone away. Awful things.

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 18/02/2014 14:31

Will do proper catch up later, but am lurking atm as in-laws are here. Please send gin. I might be about the kill someone.

OiMissus · 18/02/2014 14:36

Oh Seven, you're going to have MY twins, aren't you!? They're mine, dammit! Wink
Congratulations in the range, northern.
Queen - glad to see you back. Hope you're ok.
Xiao posted a pic on fb a week or so ago about the floods. - hope she's ok too.
We eat out fairly regularly. The boi is usually pretty good. We always take a little toy, and definitely prefer (horrid) chain type places that give out colouring stuff and balloons. We have to "chain" it, "nice" restaurants don't often open before 6pm.
We went away at the weekend, my Cardiff/opera birthday present from last year.
Loved it. Quite a nice city. Fabulous theatre (Millenium centre). La Traviata - got the tears flowing twice. Loved it.
So now, oh cultured ladies of the thread, what operas would you recommend? I'd like to broaden my horizons some more.
Smile

BobaFetaCheese · 18/02/2014 14:37

Renarking, hid the thread by accident again. Damn my chubby fingers and tiny phone screen.

Not muh here, good luck tomorrow seven!

Figster · 18/02/2014 15:40

Glad you enjoyed Cardiff oi it's great fun and Cardiff bay on a summers day is beautiful. Not an opera aficionado here sorry but could bore you to tears about musicals.

Colleague at work having identical twins she's finishing work at 28 weeks, fortnightly scans, nowhere to put 2, huge unattractive car now required I wouldn't wish them on anyone.

Have found someone in Portsmouth selling a 10mo skunk .....god help me I'm thinking about it.....except for the £550 price tag that is Grin

TheOnlySeven · 18/02/2014 16:20

You're welcome to them oi, I don't want 5 DCs! I couldn't get the bottom button of my coat done up today though. If it's not twins I need to do some serious work on my stomach muscles after this one!

Bet you're tempted though figgy.

OP posts:
CaffeinatedKitten · 18/02/2014 16:26

I'd say get the skunk, but I am crap at life:o

mopsytop · 18/02/2014 16:50

Oooh figgy you must be tempted... hmm I would say go for it but you'd need you be sure it was ok with kids I guess.

Hmm Oi, where to start. Definitely La Tosca (Puccini). Saw it at Covent Garden with Angela Gheorghiu and Bryn Terfel. Amazing. I am a huge fan of Benjamin Britten and in fact I think Peter Grimes is my favourite opera. Plus it is in English. Bonus! Opera North did a great production fairly recently. Wagner took me a loooonnng time to get into, but I have begun to warm to it. Not braved a performance of any of the Ring cycle yet. But I really love Tristan and Isolde so might try that. Mr. Mopsy is listening to Khovanshchina (Mussorgsky) a lot recently and it is beautiful.

Aethelfleda · 18/02/2014 19:27

oi, I recommends two highly cultured musical operas:

Once more with feeling

Dr Horrible's Singalong Blog -be warned, the ending may make you weepy...

I've never quite been into standard opera, it's something about the warbling, and the perception that only very culcha'd loaded people go. Music of almost any other kind, yes. Opera, no. (Of course it's great for you to love it).

Figster · 18/02/2014 19:45

Oh aethel Grin love the links!!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 18/02/2014 19:46

Aethal hope you are back in the land of No More Vomit Plague, and Once More With Felling is epic, my fave Buffy episode ever.

figgy I can see why you would be tempted by the skunk, but maybe not a good idea if you're still working on convincing DH about baby number two? If new skunk turns out to be loads of work, it might give him more ammunition to veto the baby making?

seven good luck with the scan. I read an article the other day about a woman who was pregnant with naturally occuring identical girl triplets. She had a c-section, delivered three babies then heard the Dr say 'IS THAT MORE FEET?!' and voila, baby number four, sneakily hiding behind her sisters. Identical girl quads. and they all had bloody awful names So you never know what nature might have in store for you! And massive YEAY for the trike for DS, hope he loves it.

Hope you're feeling better soon queen.

Oi you're dead cultured, you.

Can I have a massive rant? Inlaws are here and my FIL is driving me potty. They just wind DS up and it doesn't matter how often we tell them to calm it down, they don't, then FIL gets arsey because DS gets hit-ey and bite-ey and I just want to throw my arms in the air and say I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO! Plus, FIL has just put some of that minging deep heat cream on his shoulder so my house now REEKS, and he chucked my cat off the sofa because he doesn't like cats. Cat wasn't even anywhere near him, and the CAT BLOODY WELL LIVES HERE. AND he buys the daily fail and reads it while making comments. Every time they come stay they say 'oh you two should go out and we'll babysit' and we never do, except last night when we did for the first time, and then he made loads of digs about being forced to babysit and us going out and leaving them etc. Oh, and we went swimming earlier and in-laws watched, and took loads of photos and videos. Aside from the bit where you really shouldn't be taking pictures of other people's half naked children, I'm in my swimming costume, looking awful, in all of them too. If he puts them on FB I'll be forced to unfriend him and punch him in the face.

OH OH OH AND... they were letting him throw his toys round the house earlier, even after we asked them to stop. FFS. I give up. DS behaves like a shit whenever they visit. They're going home tomorrow.

Had two year check up today, all went well, not worries except that he walks/runs with his feet pointing inwards and falls over a lot, so we've got a referral to a podiatrist to check all is OK.

mopsytop · 18/02/2014 20:15

Jesus hop I'd be going mental too!

aethel too right about the expense. I usually end up sitting so far back the stage looks like a postage stamp and I can't see the surtitles! But I love it.

seven you know one of my sisters was not known about until just before she was born (after I and my other sister had been born and my mother thought it was twins ...). Ha sorry don't freak out this was in the days before good scans!

OiMissus · 18/02/2014 20:31

Ah, in laws, one of the best reasons to get divorced. Grin
Mine have got bad habits, no teeth and appalling BO. (Most if them, not all). Hygiene is not considered.
Babysitting by them will never be considered by me.
I shall look up the operas and your links Aethel. Grin
(I have no idea how much the opera tix cost, 'twas a present.)

NorthernChinchilla · 18/02/2014 20:50

Oh dear seven, if it is twins we'll all be rushing to say "but it's so wonderful, honest" and getting MNHQ to delete half the above Wink! I'm sure you're pretty safe, it seems a recurring theme that women look more pregnant earlier with baby no 2, so with baby no. 4 and 5 bwhahaha I'm sure it's just the muscles!

I've only ever seen one musical in my life- Blues Brothers- and never done the opera, so I shall leave it to mopsy. And isn't this the sort of thing xiao knows buckets about? Am off up North btw, nothing special, just our regular trip to see the family.

hop, you need to go forth and drink. Can you pour yourself a glass of wine that you barely sip, and then go and knock back shots of vodka in the kitchen when no-one's looking? Just think of the pleasure you'll have in waving them off tomorrow... Know just what you mean about winding up a DS and them getting hit-y and bite-y, 'cept it's my DP that does it Hmm

And buy the skunk figster, buy the skunk Grin. Tell DH it's to practise for no. 2...
