Any news on DH job figster?

NorthernChinchilla · 12/02/2014 20:31

Toddler group post-migraine, greater love hath no mother....

NorthernChinchilla · 12/02/2014 20:35

I just like the excuse for fizz and a good meal Grin I don't allow us to be 'luxurious' -as I am a mean Northern who watches the pennies- so love having a posh meal at a grim time of year. We just do cards though, no hearts and stuff...though if DP turned up with a bunch of flowers I would die of shock just after assuming he's having an affair wouldn't mind!

Figster · 12/02/2014 20:40

Faffin DH has 3rd interview next week Shock

Enjoying my evening to myself i never have any time to myself!!

OiMissus · 13/02/2014 08:11

Fingers crossed for interview no. 3.
Let's hope he gets it, and it cheers him up and makes him more positive about the future.
Our niece had her baby at 4:10 this morning. Little girl, 8lb 10, born at home (DC2) - because her two sisters wanted to be present at the birth as well as mum and her DH!
(She found out she was pg at the same time as me, and we worked out the same due dates. I'm fine about it. ...Too busy trying to make my own DC2!) Wink

TheOnlySeven · 13/02/2014 15:04

Congrats to your neice oi

faffin glad DD is feeling a bit better now.

figster good luck to DH with the interview, and I echo what oi said.

We had no electricity for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon. We lit the fire and the DCs had toast, they were thoroughly excited by the novelty of it.

DH is out running for the next 3 hours, and I should be tidying. Tea already in the slow cooker, beef with carrots and Guinness, yum!

This evening is brought to you by fishfinger sandwiches and Mr Kipling and his exceedingly good cakes. Thursdays can go forth.

mopsytop · 13/02/2014 18:12

Mr. Mopsy has flu. He looks awful poor thing. High temperature etc. but I have to go in to work tomorrow so he will have to bring Minimopsy to/from nursery. I'll get the train and leave the car but still. Won't be fun for him... it would be so handy to have family nearby I must say...

NorthernChinchilla · 13/02/2014 21:34

Some more shit-awful travelling: left home at 8.10 this morning, got into work at 9.50. The bus, which is meant to be every ten minutes, didn't turn up for an hour (this is not unusual) and then got to the next stop in the shopping centre where the drivers had to change...there wasn't one Angry. Coming home was not much better.

Bloody ridiculous, especially when it's a 45 minute journey.

Poor Mr Mopsy, hope he's retired to bed.

Have you noticed that this year we don't seem to have been as thoroughly ill as last? We've all had various bits and bobs, but last year it was like something out of the zombie apocalypse.

Can't believe your DH has a third interview figster, his nerves must be shredded poor man! Good luck to him, sounds like he's nearly there.

BobaFetaCheese · 13/02/2014 22:33

Good luck Mr.Fig!!

for Mr.Mopsy

DS1 has had a raised temp all week, he went off his food mon-weds, back on it now but it's the illest(word?) either of mine have ever been. Much cbeebies was had by all. I also learnt he'll take any drugs offered, without a fight, if you show him chocolate, milk or raisins.

8lb 10(!) congrats to nieceOi!

DH is getting cold feet about dc3, we're seriously considering a house move this year now and he thinks we'd be mental to try it with 3. So we'll try for this month, maybe next month and then he's done.
Fine with it, but ooh if we don't buy a house I'll have to find DH#2 Grin

DH's card for tomorrow. he luffs romance and stuff, I don't so I'll give it to him and then act all pissy when he doesn't produce a card for me, and then he'll make me tea all night, mwhaha.

Hope everyone has enjoyed the weather so far this week...any weekend plans?

OiMissus · 13/02/2014 22:57

Ha ha ha ha! I love that card. Sooooo wrong.
I am really hoping I get pg this month, with non- identical twins. I want more. But at my age (ancient 41) I think I've only got one chance left.
I tried the "adoption" conversation with DH. I don't get why it makes him uncomfortable. Odd.
(Do they do a "selfish tw@t" card?)
I'm keen to look into it. Not because I've given up on my own ability to conceive, but because I think it's worth considering because there are kids that need loving permanent homes.
I'll get pg, kick him out, and adopt some more, ... And then find myself a wife.
Confused

OiMissus · 14/02/2014 07:00

Happy valentine's day, you lovely ladies!
We forgot this morning, and DH has already left. Smile

BobaFetaCheese · 14/02/2014 07:55

Dh doesn't want to adopt, but we looked into it post ds1. In this area they prefer if the adopted child is the younger and a minimum 4 years between them.
The adoption board on MN are really useful for seeif how stressful and drawnout the process can be.

DH has lost his wedding ring, which I think means I should be single for Valentines Day and spend it with a person of my choice Grin

mopsytop · 14/02/2014 08:13

Happy vally day!

We don't actually do valentine's day but I did buy Mr. Mopsy some beautiful tulips yesterday because he is ill and I thought they might cheer him up and I think they did a bit. But he is feeling really rotten, poor chap. I feel awful going to work and leaving him to schlep Minimopsy to nursery but what can I do? Have lots of student meetings today and cancelling them would just create too much hassle Sad

ProfessionalKiller · 14/02/2014 08:18

Ooooh, that is the card I would have bought if we weren't skint we weren't doing homemade ones (i.e. getting the kids to scribble)

My DH had a 2 hour second interview on Tue, and yesterday was offered the job! Same field, slightly more money, closer to home, shorter hours, -his current boss is a dick....bit of a no-brainer.

In other good news, I actually got paid this week (last week was my first week back after Mat Leave although still on annual leave) so double pay this week, and apparently I still get Maternity Allowance until I actually do a day at work. Not convinced about that, but I'll keep the £136 for this week and next week!

I'm typing this because BOTH DC are at the CM. Yep, it's DD's settling in session.

Off to have a long shower, wash my hair, dry my hair, straighten my hair, get dressed, make the bed and have breakfast. Without having to stop to fix Mr Potato head or BF the baby Grin

Figster · 14/02/2014 08:25

DS is still a sleep non working day bonus lie in Grin

Swimming and then hearing test for him in town which is city centre hospital no parking.......in the rain Confused

Aethelfleda · 14/02/2014 14:45

We have a hurling toddler :( Fortunately DH juggled him this morning so I could go to work, and now we've tagged and it's his turn to wrestle with the rain gods....
dS seems ok apart from a bit clingy: he's napping so I think I will chance my arm eco-wise and use the car for the school run, it is chilly and tipping it down over here again!

Yay for new jobs! Well done your DH , killer....

TheOnlySeven · 14/02/2014 15:36

Tipping it down again here too, is anyone escaping this shitty weather. Still I suppose it could be worse, we're above water at least.

aethel hope DS is ok.

northern thanks for pointing out we have all been hazardously ill, we'll know who to blame now if it happens :o

Can anyone remember months ago (may have been August?) me saying DS Physio thought it would be great for him to have a low-resistance trike but they cost over £2000 and we applied to several charities for funding? Well I got a phone call last week , we finally got full funding from one of them and his trike is now on order, will be here in around 3 months :o

OP posts:
Figster · 14/02/2014 16:57

Chucking it down here too

Good news seven!! Not so good news aethel.

DS aced his hearing test all looks healthy and he responded as he should have done at all tests. He's been watching room on the broom at cm this week and is obsessed with the witch so got it today for watching over the wet weekend.

Curry for tea tonight maybe a film later anyone seem oblivion with Tom cruise?

OiMissus · 14/02/2014 17:45

Hurrah for ears and jobs and trikes and cms!
Boo to hurling!
Hurrah for gold medals and skellingtons!

TheOnlySeven · 14/02/2014 18:05

Thanks oi and figster.

We'll probably watch a film after our nice meal, got a box of chocs so we'll snuggle up on the sofa and scoff them.

Random wondering aethel how is xiao getting on? Was there any outcome to her DHs job possibility in Tanzania?

mopsytop · 14/02/2014 18:48

That's great seven! I remember you telling us about it before and being not hopeful at all that you'd get one so that's really great.

Bummer Oi ... that was us 2 weeks ago. Is v tedious. Although (I feel a bit guilty for even admitting this), it is really the only time Minimopsy is properly cuddly and it is nice having cuddles. She has never been a snuggly child, even as a very tiny baby.

Awful here too, rain and gales, but thanks goodness no floods. I can't imagine your whole house being under water. Must be awful. Where is Queen btw? Name change and I've missed it?

Fig when is interview #3?

I said we don't do vally day but I've been seeing students all day to discuss exam results and am wrecked, so I got yummy Chinese from Marks and a bottle of bubbly. Hoping Mr. Mopsy can get out of bed and eat with me. I felt so bad leaving him to get Minimopsy to/from nursery but I really had no alternative as I had to go in today. I think he is pretty exhausted though. Getting out of bed is hard enough when you've flu, never mind having to get child up and dressed and into car and drive a mile. Poor thing.

mopsytop · 14/02/2014 18:48

aethel I mean not Oi. Unless bOi has a vom bug too!

Aethelfleda · 14/02/2014 19:29

Aaaaand back comes the dinner. Sigh. Is a good job we have a new shiny washing machine....
