Oh dear faffin Sad Sad Sad Hope he improves quickly.

I'm feeling vaguely nauseous. Can't decide whether eating will kill or cure... Just got my scan date through the post. I'll be 12 weeks exactly. It is for Wed 3 weeks. Feels like forever. Just want some reassurance that everything is ok so far... and that it is not twins. I'm sure I felt two distinct implantation pains on opposite sides. But it is almost certainly my imagination. I mean, surely the pains wouldn't be that pin-pointable. Anyway maybe it had a little wriggle around before it dug in...

NorthernChinchilla · 02/05/2014 22:32

Whilst I guess by the laws of stats one of us have to have twins at some point mopsy, I'm sure you'll just have one...did you eat, and did it kill or cure? Hopefully the next three weeks will fly by...

How's DS now faffin?

And how're you doing PTP?

Work kindly let us out early, and I took the chance to have a wander round the shops for summer work shoes, unmolested by hellspawn DS. Went round every place in town and could not find a thing. So, depressed by this and the rain (it's May ffs, and we're in the SE) I left the shoe section of the department store to treat myself to £15 worth of manicure.

The bloody Nails Inc concession had moved out a month ago... I ended up just walking home in the rain Angry

I'm sure the rest of the BH will be better.....!

Faffin · 03/05/2014 12:51

It's always the way when you have time to shop and want spend on yourself for a change isn't it?

DS seems much better today thanks northern. He had a good sleep, woke up hungry and managed to keep breakfast down. Nobody else ill so far either so fingers crossed that's the end of it.

Have taken DD to dance class at a theatre this morning. She's performing in a production of the wizard of oz in a couple of weeks. Think I'm going to get quite emotional!

NorthernChinchilla · 03/05/2014 13:28

Absolutely faffin, you can be guaranteed that if I'm on my way into work, or dragging taking DS round town, I'll see lots of things that I could do with getting. Plus the ever-annoying experience of going out with birthday money and not finding a single thing- my teenage years seemed to be marked by going out shopping in Manchester with my Dad, money (like £20!) burning a hole in my pocket, and him coming home with a suit....

Glad to hear that it was a one-off though, and not the start of something grim and badly-timed!

Figster · 03/05/2014 15:13

Oh me head Confused far too much Wine last night ill be going for a nap soon me thinks. Dh has taken ds to shops for fajitas for tea nom nom.

Just been to slimbridge for 3hrs ds played in the wellyboot land got utterly sodden loved it! What a difference the weather makes.

Chipandspuds · 04/05/2014 08:42

Agree in the weather Figster! We took DS to a local forest/woods where the bluebells are still out and he loved going everywhere in his scooter! So nice to be able to relax outdoors and not have constant rain!

If it's open we're going to visit a little farm, it's just got the basic pigs, goats, chickens, rabbits etc and an outdoor play area, but perfect for DS's age.

NorthernChinchilla · 04/05/2014 21:16

Yep, we've had two epic park trips over the past two days, and time in the garden. Soooooooooooooooo good now the weather's decent. We're going to take a walk to a country pub tomorrow, out in a little village- said pub has kids' play area, so we're hoping that this will replace our previous walk/good pub where we used to live.

I've hit the garden centre with my list of perennials needed for the garden, then spent the afternoon digging out old plants, rooting out bloody European bluebells, and generally re-arranging. My trusty stiff-gin-with-an-ibuprofen-chaser worked wonders on my aching back afterwards

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 05/05/2014 16:39

Hope everyone had had a lovely bank holiday!

We'd had a re;axed day on Saturday, got another quote for some windows (small child is up for sale, open to reasonable offers), went swimming. Yesterday we did a national trust place - lovely walk round a gorgeous valley with some friends and their little boy. DS was a champ and hiked up a massive set of stone woodland steps all by himself, without breaking a sweat. DH and I were a panting mess by the end. Then pub for a pint after. Today we have spent all day at the park, then went to the local pub and had a drink and some cake in the sunshine while DS napped in the pushchair, now the menfolk are at the local park and I'm doing work (ish).

figgy I know what you mean about the weather, it makes such a difference!

Well done on the gardening northern, gin and chaser sounds lovely!

OiMissus · 05/05/2014 19:52

Hasn't it been lovely?!
Bank holidays - what joy!
I got my haircut on Saturday, and then bought Boi new trainers. We got his feet measured a month ago, he was still 6.5g, as he needed trainers, we got his feet measured again to be sure. Now he's 7.5f/g. How did that happen !?!
Sunday was the christening. I stood up and vowed before all something about god. ??? We took boi's Hudl with us, and he sat quietly doing jigsaws right up until the end, when after a hymn he said very loudly "can we sing 5 little ducks now, mummy?"
Grin
'Twas a very nice service, the lady reverend was very pleasant and good humoured. (It was lost on everyone else there. They just wanted to get to their cans of Black Label at the party.)
Today we've stayed at home. I have done loads of tidying and sorting. Grin I need more bank holidays. Another 5 could get me straight!

Aethelfleda · 05/05/2014 20:06

No disapproval northern me lad, that's exactly what I do for a sore back!

We made it through, with only a few dents in the wallet --man,does centerparcs know how to fleece y

Aethelfleda · 05/05/2014 20:09

No disapproval northern me lad, that's exactly what I do for a sore back!

We made it through, with only a few dents in the wallet man, does centerparcs know how to fleece ye at every opportunity

The DDs totally loved it and we got to see the PIL in between things. We found the paint yer own pottery activity, so Am now the proud possessor of a painted mug that advertises Wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey-stuff. (Big kid alert!)

We are all extremely tired though! Getting them up for school tomorrow is going to be "fun"....

Figster · 06/05/2014 17:22

Aethel was that the trip you were strong armed into? At least u enjoyed it if so!!

Anyone seen there is going to be an octonauts live tour later this year am going to look for tickets tonight DS been mad on them since Xmas he will go mad for it.

I've hurt my neck and shoulder it's sore to drive am thinking its hauling laptop and other things with me all over the country all the time. Am loving my anadin joint pain Tablets Confused

NorthernChinchilla · 06/05/2014 20:24

Oh dear, DS is slightly pink of cheek after our trip to the park. Really didn't think I'd need to put suncream on him, going out at 4pm, but it's lesson learnt. Lovely time out, and the ice cream van arrived just as we were going, so DS got a Mr Whippy Grin Hideous stuff, but he ate it with gusto!

Grumble grumble back to work tomorrow, but a three-day week, hurrah!

I'll have to patent my gin-and-ibuprofen-chaser, and mark it 'medically approved' too then aethel Wink It truly does sort you out after a heavy session in the garden. Glad you enjoyed yourself-sort of- at CP, and that the DCs had fun. They are geniuses at extracting the contents of your wallet though, with all the 'must do' activities.

Sounds a good do Oi, and I'm sure everyone would have been delighted to sing the ducks song Smile And totally agree about the BHs (especially when you get an extra day) I feel completely chilled and am on top of housework, plus DS has been to the park four times, we've eaten well, gardened, drunk many gins, been for a wonderful walk out to the most archetypal Kentish pub, etc, etc....

Figster · 07/05/2014 19:42

Tumbleweeds........Where is everyone?

DS octonauts tickets are bought 02nd nov day out to Cardiff 1pm show. Should be good Grin

OiMissus · 07/05/2014 20:39

Oi Oi!
Still here. Just lurking. Had a day at home today, half with Boi. Dad was in hospital, so mum had to pick him up, CM couldn't help. - dad's ok. He was severely dehydrated and now has a heart flutter, and his meds for his other ailments were too strong after his gastric bypass. Hopefully he'll soon be stronger, fitter and thinner. As soon as he got home (this time and after the op) he called to speak to Boi. He absolutely dotes on him, and wants to get thin so he can play and be a better grandpa. Grin
(There's something appealing about Centre Parcs... I think it's because they're for families, so I didn't pass muster before. It was too exclusive for me. Now I qualify. Smile I haven't looked into them, don't know what I'm talking about. But I guess as the Boi gets a bit bigger, I'll be creeping through the wardrobe into this new Narnia! and getting acutely ripped off

NorthernChinchilla · 07/05/2014 20:53

I've quite fancied CP now that we have a sprog- the idea of outdoorsy stuff followed by a chill out, glass of wine, etc in our own log cabin no idea if they have log cabins or what really appeals. DP wouldn't do it though, not really his sort of thing (cough)

Sorry to hear your Dad's not been well Oi, how did he get so dehydrated? And how's your DH at the mo, and your on-going 'plans'?

Bit of insomnia last night, underlying stress over work (not anything I properly feel, it's the old lizard brain being a sod), heart was racing and didn't get to sleep til the middle of the night. Was a ZombieChin at work today, hope I didn't do anything too stupid...

Aethelfleda · 07/05/2014 22:20

Ooh, let's have an off-peak winter CP meet! cos that's when it's less mindblowingly expensive
Well, it's a thought anyway. where are the other CPs? We went to the one near Nottingham....

Faffin · 07/05/2014 22:34

We went to the Sherwood Forest one in March, had a great time. Made the most of term time prices before DD starts school in sept. There's a new one quite close to me near Woburn, and I think others in Lake District and longleat and somewhere else too.

Think I'm going to be heading to GP with DD tomorrow. It's been over two weeks since she had a poo, and it's an extra worry because she had imperforate anus as a baby. Went to out of hours doc on Monday who gave an alternative medicine to the ones she was already on, but still no joy. Poor mite was trying for about an hour this evening, screaming out in agony, and still only just managed to get a couple of small blobs out. Really need a referral to someone who knows what they're talking about, the doc the other day clearly hadn't come across her condition because after I'd told him what she'd had, he saw her colostomy scar and asked what it was from. Not sure whether I should go to GP or just try and contact her surgeon direct Sad

fixyourgardengate · 07/05/2014 22:58

We went to the Sherwood one in March too faffin. I have family going to the shiny new Woburn one in August, we're probably going for the day so can report back Grin

Hope you get DD seen by someone who understands faffin

fixyourgardengate · 07/05/2014 22:59

Blush name change (kitty/prof killer etc)

Chipandspuds · 08/05/2014 01:58

Hope you get someone good Faffin your poor DD she must be feeling so uncomfortable and yuck :( I guess you've tried all the usual warm bath, lying on tummy on floor and 'poo fruits' (I read poo fruits on another thread!). A friends baby has problems having poos and she has been having to put a suppository up there every day for months, it's working but still :(

I'm feeling a tad sorry for myself, DS has an ear infection and is ultra clingy, so I had no choice but to take him to my booking in appointment and he was a nightmare. I felt sorry for the midwife, but at least I will probably never see her again. We got through an hour and a half appt in 40 minutes. Got home and I had a horrible headache and was throwing up whilst DS had a tantrum! Somehow managed to get out and pick DH up and then he took over and sent me to bed. Poor DS did get shouted at as he just wouldn't stop screaming at me. I hate shouting at him but I was at the end of my tether and been carrying him around and doing my best to pamper him all day as I now how painful ear infections can be but my goodness the screaming from him Shock

Thank goodness DH is understanding and can take over, he tidied the horrific mess in the living room, got DS ready for bed, have DS his cocktail of antibiotics and calpol and cooked his own dinner!

Aethelfleda · 08/05/2014 06:52

Oh and Faffin, GP sounds like a good idea. Good luck and hope DD poos very soon!

Figster · 08/05/2014 09:20

Buggeration I had written a long post which seems to have gone poof.

It vaguely said .......

Longleat CP is supposed to be good never been though am off to longleat itself in a couple of weeks. My mum is visiting for 11 days to look after ds when cm on hols we have lots of activities planned.....seriously what did we spend our time doing before I had ds?

Chip dont worry about shouting at DS this morning Ds was insisting on eating Jammy toast on the sofa and not at the table it was going everywhere and he was shouted at as it seems unless you yell at him he doesnt listen to a word you say .......am missing the days when he would be happily contained in his high chair!!

Faffin i assume your DD is on movicol? Ds has had issues since birth and would regularly go 4-5 days without pooing so we have put him on movicol and now he goes pretty much every day on 1 sachet. I had the same issues as a kid, took fybogel, senokot, enemas, suppositories etc and was an outpatient until i was 16, spent weeks in hospital in early teens where i had to go to school and everything. They said i would grow out of it and as long as i dont overload on carbs I am pretty free from it these days but my poor mother and the stress she must have been under 

Oi I hope your dad has the same lease of life now that my mum has had after her bypass, she has lost over 12 stone in total (a lot before the op so she could have it) and the other day she sent me a picture from their holidays of her parasailing......stuff like that is beyond her wildest dreams.

I am going to order DS a balance bike this weekend so he has it when my mum is down it is a tidlo first balance bike they on offer at argos atm (down to 45).

Faffin · 08/05/2014 11:01

She was on lactulose and senokot, now movicol (two sachets) and senokot. Still no joy. This is the longest it's gone on so think we might be heading for something more dramatic this time. Children with imperforate anus are more prone to constipation and her surgeon said at last check up that we'd done well to go for three years since she'd had the colostomy reversed with relatively few problems. She has a very good diet which is a huge bonus, if this was DS he'd be in all sorts of trouble! I really don't kind if they want to give us suppositories if that helps keep her regular, that'll be nothing compared to changing colostomy bags and doing dilatation on the bum hole the surgeon made for her Shock. Got GP appointment soon

Faffin · 08/05/2014 14:11

Dr called paediatrician who said just to increase movicol and give her 8 sachets, and take her to casualty if she has severe pain or vomiting. Of course none of this helps get over the psychological barrier that she simply does not want to go because she knows it will hurt. She's now having yet another huge tantrum telling me all about that. In the meantime we are all stuck indoors going slightly crazy. Can't take her out to tots group when she's like this, and we've has constant rain today so can't give her a run about anywhere. Fortunately my mum has come over so at least I have an extra pair of hands to play with DS
