DD1 has never pooped in the bath, DS used to do it fairly regularly.

That's a good sign then figster. When did he suggest trying?

Sounds like a lovely day northern, minus the poo!

Aethelfleda · 16/03/2014 20:02

No, no, no, no!!!! I may joke about it but short of accidents or friends suddenly deceasing and leaving me extra children, there will be no more babies chez Aethel!

Seriously, I love the squishy baby thing, but as my DC get older I'm acutely aware of how much time and attention they need, deserve, and benefit from. Two or three is I think the perfect number, more can of course be done (beautifully, she says, looking at seven),, but It dilutes the time each child can have, plus I think if we had four it would be the straw that broke my career. I certainly have the "done" feeling in all practical terms!

Anyone else taking the potty training plunge soon? dS is getting pretty good at potty/loo use, we're thinking a trial of Proper Pants at Easter....

TheOnlySeven · 17/03/2014 08:50

I'm dabbling in potty training, there's no interest in pooing on the potty which is annoying as it terms of wees she's definitely ready. She wore knickers on Friday and Saturday after her standard early morning poo, just one wet accident on both days. We might just take the plunge, I could do with a few months of only one in nappies before the next one.

Figster · 17/03/2014 10:05

DS not interested in potty at all going to start talking about it more try putting him on big toilet in readiness for summer but at moment not a chance.

TheOnlySeven · 17/03/2014 10:29

Summer is the best time tbh as it's warm enough that they can walk around in the garden or on a hard floor with no nappy and it doesn't matter if they have an accident.

Thanks aethel but I'm really worried about coping with 4. And I agree 3 is a lovely number, we realised number 4 probably wasn't the best idea after our one month of trying, of course it was too late though. Number 4 is only happening because I managed to conceive first time.

We have started on the Potty training thing now..she is getting the hang of it and when I know we have a good week of warm weather the proper undies will be coming out.

Sky had an appointment at the ENT clinic at the hospital this morning and they have agreed to remove her tonsils and adenoids in the hope it will help her breathing and try to stop so much congestion. Just got to wait for the date now.

re her food intolerances...she can tolerate a little bit of dairy but not to much..as she gets constipated and has a bad tummy and her eczema flares up really badly :(

2 babies is enuff for me...physically as i have a stupid body I couldn't cope with another one.

Figster · 17/03/2014 13:03

QOC I didnt know that Sky had problems how do they manifest themselves? DS has had a lot of snoring issues over the last year or so, you can hear him from our bedroom!! He has been to ENT for a hearing test and a check and they signed him off, his Dr says he is just snotty but cant they be that snotty at that age??

DH has said we can try next year, he is 40 in March so hoping to go on a lovely DS free holiday for that and then we will get to it, dont see how people pay for 2 lots of childcare we are on good money and still the 650 we will be paying from next month will be a stretch let alone 1k+ which i know people do pay. So the plan is probably get pg spring next year, baby early 2016, mat leave until ds goes to school to help with the settling in and then back to work. Seems ridiculous to plan life so far in advance and god knows what might happen in the meantime but tbh I think i can cope with the above if it doesnt happen before then, it is very sensible from a cost perspective (i will be 35 which is later than i had planned) and DH is comfortable with it. Getting pg hasnt been an issue previously so hopeful wouldnt be then either .......fingers crossed.

QueenofClean · 17/03/2014 13:52

Figgy - Sky has enlarged tonsils and has lots of mucus and has had a fair few chest infections In her life so far...I also went armed with videos of her snoring..said that only In last few weeks has she started sleeping thru the night but it's not every night. He checked down her throat and agreed to surgery.

Also good luck on ttc Smile

TheOnlySeven · 17/03/2014 15:28

Hope it all goes according to plan figgy :)

I've finally replaced the curtains in DD2s room from the cream office ones, it's only taken 10 months!

NorthernChinchilla · 17/03/2014 19:46

Ha! We are conception twins figster, my plans exactly, and I'm about six months off you age-wise. Glad your DH has come round to the idea of having no.2 so swiftly- do you think it's related to him having got this new job? How's his health doing by the way?

I think that sounds good news about the tonsils Queenie, hopefully it'll mean that she won't suffer recurrent tonsillitis which is the pits...

Four will be a great number seven, and you will do fine. I've seen quite a few threads which have warned off having three, saying that two or four is better, as you don't have a middle one to be picked on. I've always fancied three though, like you at the mo and aethel but unless I have twins that's not going to happen.

Past 24 hours we've had three poo-disasters, after none for months and months: one explosion in the cot as we were trying to leave for his party on Saturday, then the bath last night, then a trouser leg filler this morning which also covered his feet, my leg, and the floor.... Plus DS woke in the middle of the night and I had to get him. Went into the double bed, but he goes sideways, then streeeeeeeeeeeeeeetches out- to the point that he shoved himself out of bed. I managed to catch him by his thigh and haul him, still asleep, back in, so very restful.

He then woke at 5.20 Confused so I am tired

Figster · 17/03/2014 20:20

Jeepers northern what does ur DS eat? DS hasn't pooed since Thursday despite 2 lots of movicol. Dh a lot better he's off steroids so sleeping better and his mood has changed significantly I think prospect of a regular wage removed some stress too. Looking forward to making the most of this year!!

NorthernChinchilla · 17/03/2014 21:10

Ah, so glad to hear your DH is sounding so much better figster, such a sod we've got to wait for the baby-making...

Tbh, DS would live off 'dippy eggs' at the moment if we let him- he does like his beans and cereal though, and I try to give him a pot of pureed fruit (homemade, just the seconds stuff whizzed through the blender) and/or a dried fruit stick as his treat. He goes at least once, generally twice a day though- that all sounds uncomfy for him and stressful for you though.

Figster · 18/03/2014 20:00

Gah thread killed

my update for today is ive managed to bleed all over the office after Stabbing myself with a rogue bit of photocopier while trying to sort out a paperjam, ds cut his foot by Standing on my engagement ring and then fell off the bed. Hes now shouting at me to come and Sit with him and as i am without dh am looking forward to getting my old tae-bo dvd on and leaping around.

Toast and sugar puffs for dinner Blush

NorthernChinchilla · 18/03/2014 20:11

Heh, us talking about poop will do that Wink

Was close to murder this morning, the bus driver wouldn't let me use my pass as although it was in date, and I'd used it for weeks, it didn't have my photo on. Despite the fact that it did have my name one, and it's in the same holder and next to my rail pass which does have my photo on... it was the ultimate in jobsworth.

Despite having paid £000s for my pass, he made me pay for my journey. I sent a txt with sooooooooooooooo many swearwords to DP afterward.

Oh, and we have finally found two things DS will watch! The first is Sarah and Duck, so we ordered the DVD. The second is videos of himself of DP's phone, narcissist... Blush

Aethelfleda · 18/03/2014 20:15

Am at a music concert! dD1 played her first ever gig, I'm very very proud of her, she was the only brass player there so v exposed and she did brilliantly. Am now being rocked by the last number , an alt-jazz number from a funky school musiic teacher who's got a thing about delay pedals and slowdive... All rather cool!

NorthernChinchilla · 18/03/2014 20:50

Good for DD1, do they do CDs or anything afterwards aethel?

Aethelfleda · 18/03/2014 21:14

No record deals as of yet... She had a cracking time and is now, of course wired and bouncy and not sleepy at all.

DD2 on the other hand, has gone to sleep in the large cardboard box my euph was delivered in, snuggled in a large fluffy blanket. This is the second night she has chosen , nay insisted on the box as the pinnacle of suave , modern sleepage. The mind of a six year old is not to be reasoned with.....

mopsytop · 19/03/2014 07:55

Nice one mini aethel!

Figster · 19/03/2014 12:31

I'm sooo hungry lack of proper dinner last night catching up with me

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 19/03/2014 14:48

Well done miniaethal and box sleeping sounds very sensible.

northern DS loves to watch videos of himself. He even does duck face selfies.

He is refusing to sleep in his bed past about half five, when he gets into bed with us. It can't be a permenant thing, but we're away this weekend and he'll be in bed will me all night for two nights, so I just haven't got the energy to implement proper gradual retreat or other stay-in-your-bloody-bed tactics at the minute.

We are so far off potty training. He likes to sit in it, and will sometimes pee, and he knows when he is weeing and pooing, but not at the point he knows he's about to do it/can express it. See how we go in the summer. I'm so broody right now, urgh. Had snuggles with my friends three month old the other night and I forget how wriggly and alert they are at that age!

NorthernChinchilla · 19/03/2014 19:02

Glad it's not just our DS Hop, and that's awesome about the duck face, how do they learn to do it?!

When I've worked in the evening, whether it was behind a bar or in a Council meeting, I've always described it as 'tired but wired' aethel. The knowledge that as you've been on the go for 12+ hours you are knackered, but you need about an hour for your brain to relax and the adrenaline to go... Good glass of wine normally helps, but not for your DD!

DS is currently in the bath, hoping for no more poopage tonight.... Hmm

What are you having for dinner tonight figster?

OiMissus · 19/03/2014 20:41

I have just made the mist delicious dinner . Nom nom nom!
Salmon (steamed), with (julienne?) strips of courgette and carrot wok-fried in toasted sesame oil, garlic, chilli and soy sauce. Just delicious!
Good news about the drugs 7. :)
Aethel - no no. 4, then? Wink
(Knowing my luck, all of you will conceive when definitely not even trying!)
(I am trying ...on the nights when DH doesn't annoy me so much that I want to kill him.)
Gah! Just gah! He does my head in. Confused
But. Must. Have. Baby. So must continue.
I'm quite sure that the "situation" is not really aiding conception, but... Well. I'm doing my best.
Hurrah for mr.figgy! Talking about number 2 and feeling more positive - all very good!!!
Love the box-sleepage, Aethel. Totally sensible.
Not ready for potty here. The nearest we get is Boi saying, "it's just a wee, mummy." Out of the blue, whenever he wees. Grin

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 20/03/2014 08:04

I have a day off today and haven't made any plans. I don't know what to do with myself!

Aethelfleda · 20/03/2014 08:17

I'm heading over to Kwik Fit to give them a pile ofcash for two new tyres .....and then tidying up the bombsite. Oh, the glamour....

Hop, have a swim! Then a nice leisurely lunch inna pub. Then a spot of window shopping and maybe a few chapters of book with a coffee....
