That sounds like a lovely plan for a day off aethel !

My neck is banjaxed. Can't turn to left or move down to left at all and goes down along left shoulder. Was bad enough yesterday but last night had hardly any sleep, I kept getting like muscle spasms in left side of neck every time I breathed in and was so painful to turn. So made an appt with GP. Is that overkill? I guess it will sort itself out in a few days. But we have started trying for baby no. 2 and even though it is highly unlikely I'm pregnant given we only started trying this month, I did get pregnant first go last time so I'm worried about taking strong painkillers...

Aethelfleda · 20/03/2014 09:58

Oh no mopsy! Good luck with GP, steer clear of ibuprofen/aspirin if you might be pg, stick with paracetamol or codeine. Hope the neck settles soon...

mopsytop · 20/03/2014 10:45

Thanks aethel that's what GP said, also showed me great website with exercises to help it improve. It is a right bugger though Sad hope it heals fast.

Have pootled around the house, done some tidying, had a nap and now am in patisserie valerie having a coffee and wedge of cake with my kindle. It's like a being a on maternity leave just without the baby glued to my boob.

mopsytop · 20/03/2014 15:46

Nice one hop. I'm lying on bed propped up by many pillows not moving my head at all. Can't really work. In fact rang in sick for first time! Don't really need to given the number of hours I do/weekends I work but I am feeling v stressed about my to do list so I thought it wd help me just chill about it. I can't realistically type without being in pain/making neck worse. Watching obem. The one with the reverend. Very irritating.

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 20/03/2014 15:49

He was a bit 'worthy'. Have you tried a hot water bottle or heating pad? Or some of that pain killing gel/cream?

Sounds v unpleasant!

mopsytop · 20/03/2014 15:54

Mr. Mopsy got me one of those wheat bags at lunch so I'll have it in two hrs or so! hopefully will help...

mopsytop · 20/03/2014 16:03

Watching obem makes me a bit teary sometimes. I guess I'll always be a bit upset about my stressful theatre birth and not being able to hold Minimopsy for the first six hours.

Aethelfleda · 20/03/2014 16:32

I have never quite "got" OBEM... It's amazing seing babies being born, sure, but it feels too intrusive to watch on the telly. It's a bit like Jeremy Kyle, I can't watch that without cringing, either!

Sounds like a lovely day hop, well done, that woman!!

Figster · 20/03/2014 20:43

I watched obem when I was of found it strangely educational not watched it much since.

DS wouldn't sleep until 8.30 and now he's coughing in his bed shitty night ahead here at chez crew I suspect. Glad this week of work is over!!

OiMissus · 20/03/2014 20:47

I knowwhatyoumean Aethel (who nicked my spaces?). But the babiches are so lovely, I can ignore the Jeremy kyleage. (I can not and will not watch J K!)
I met a fabulous lady today. And she's invited me to one of her (businessy) Lady's Nights out at Gordon Ramsey's resto in fancy London. Can't remember which one.
Despite being away already rather a lot over the next month (oh the guilt!) it would have been extremely rude to turn down canapés, champagne, six courses and a tour through the kitchen, would it not?!?!Wink

mopsytop · 20/03/2014 20:56

Oooh nice one Oi... that sounds fab.

I've never seen Jeremy Kyle but I guess bits of obem are a bit Jerry Springer (similar?) but I love seeing the wee newborns.

mopsytop · 20/03/2014 20:57

Mr. Mopsy got me a wheat bag that you heat in microwave. Is really providing relief to my neck.

NorthernChinchilla · 20/03/2014 21:23

They are good mopsy. It's awful when your neck does that, two/three days of not being able to turn it, and horrible pain that makes you feel a bit sick...comes out of nowhere. Hope it sorts.

I love OBEM, the accents this time round are something else and I think it's because you so rarely hear proper west country accents on TV. Varieties of Northern and Southern, (Corrie and Eastenders for starters) but not much else.

I do love the babies, and it makes me snuffle is total wimp. I don't find it cringey, and I'm a person who has never, ever watched anything Cilla Black hosts, so bad is my embarrassment by proxy....!

You're doing well with your dinners at home and away Oi, blimey- got room for a small one?

How was your glamorous day aethel? And am envious of your's hop. I've had to book a day off work (DP's got his speed awareness thingy) so it'll be me and DS for a day, which will be lovely, as will the couple of hours in the afternoon when he's asleep Grin

Aethelfleda · 20/03/2014 22:32

Well, am lighter in the wallet, but at least the tyres should last a good while. House still rather bombsitelike but it's OUR Bombsite... I shall channel my inner housewife and continue (bit by bit ) to plug away at it. Have work tomorrow so it's going to have to wait. Lots of garden things to do if we don't end up with a wintry weekend...

OiMissus · 21/03/2014 07:25

Those wheaty heat pads are amazing, aren't they? Hope it clears up soon, Mopsy.

Figster · 21/03/2014 07:48

Been up since 5.30 ds still asleep he needs it was almost 9 before he went to. Sleep last night. I am registering with new dr today have an induction appt at 6 .....dreading them weighing me really need to shift some lard!! Its good timing i am run down, have colds every other week and starting to think it is allergies as never feel "ill" with them just sore throats and blocked nose. In the. Meantime dh coming to see ds swim today as his last chance before starting new job and we are going to go out to the national arboretum this afternoon for a run round.

Got a decent salary Review this week hoorah which will help with the extra childcare costs from next month. Good news is we planning on a holiday to Gambia in Jan/Feb 15 so starting our research on where Is best to go (for dh 40th bday in March it is a great birdwatching country in Jan/Feb And so. He. Can go. Off on trips and i will stay. By the pool Grin). Anyone been?

NorthernChinchilla · 21/03/2014 19:35

DS woke at 5.50 am not 5, result! That set us up for the day... We're registering with a new Doc too figster, it's the last job I've got on the list since moving house.

The paint arrived the other week, and now DP and I have booked a week off in May, for his birthday and to decorate the living room. Am really looking forward to it actually [totallysadbugger emoticon]

Think it's going to be a fairly pants weekend aethel, I know I'm going to be pretty limited in garden work too. Naturally all the birds in the area found the grass seed I'd put down and munched it like a buffet, so will need to get some more this weekend.....

OiMissus · 22/03/2014 00:31

Ah sportrelief. I watch these things, they break my heart, and I always have to give beyond what I intend to give. And I always know I will.
Mum.
Being a mum changes who you are in so many ways that you would never have previously imagined.

One way things have changed, beyond the charitable > I've always looked younger. Not anymore! Two years of not enough sleep and a non-existent skincare routine = serious aging! I look every one of my 41 years.
Aughh. And my fabulously pert breasts at age 38? Gone, after breast feeding.
And my trim(ish) physique? From 3-4x gym classes per week at week 28... To nothing now...
Argh! I need to start finding some time for me. But when??!?
Confused

Aethelfleda · 22/03/2014 08:39

oi, I feels yer pain! Am stealing a quic ksoak as DH is off on business for a few days. It's time that is the issue here too, though I've never done the "beauuty" thing to start with (it's not my bag). However my 30-mins-a-night exercise is now replaced by nightly reading with Dd2, and then it's too late in the evening to do it or we'd eat too late...Sumging must be done or I'm doomed to a life of wobblyness, I'm NOT having it!! Plus I have 1.5 stone that is not shifting and REALLY needs to.... Doesn't help that I'm off cheese for lenr. Has a single pound shifted? Nope.....!

mopsytop · 22/03/2014 10:08

Me too Oi! I was consistently ID'd in supermarket when buying wine until I had Minimopsy. Since then it has only happened once or twice Sad I defs look way older. Boo.

Figster · 22/03/2014 13:37

Me too if i lost 7lbs i would Be quite happy with that but i think because it is only 7lbs i am meh about it. I have this growing urge to just. Put my trainers on and go running but. With a busy job and seemingly endless colds it is never happening Angry.

Had a good clear out this morning 3 bin bags of stuff out of Cupboards, couple of charity bags filled, bathroom next. Dh off to footie and MIL wanted ds today so he has gone off too, i am on a 3 day course in May which has hefty pre work and so am today getting it Started. Was tempted to go to the office and avoid. The distractions in the house but just going to Get head down.......as soon as i Finish watching thursday's big reunion Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 22/03/2014 14:43

This is not the time to discuss the choc chip cookies I've baked then....?

I think the one thing that's helped is that I don't drive, so walk everywhere, and so it builds exercise into the day. And I try to make sure we all walk to town/park/round the block once or twice at the weekend, otherwise DP would get no exercise at all.

But I'm definitely getting the fine lines, etc, though I'm glad I don't get ID'd any more mopsy, having it happen trying to buy a wallpaper scraper in B&Q aged 25/26 in my lunch hour (ie. wearing formal work clothes) was the worst!

Aethelfleda · 22/03/2014 20:18

Tea with those cookies, anyone?
