I'm having a wonderful productive, doing stuff around the house whilst J is in nursery day - as DH and I have both realised that shiiiiiiiiiiit all of the DIY jobs around the house we've been being lazy about will need to be done by October or will be on hold for another year at least!

So, so far I have been measuring up for the shelving unit we need built in the lounge, tidying the office so my new (to me) desk has room to be delivered later this week, finding carpenters, stove installers and arranging the delivery of our woodburner. (Any idea where to store a 150kg wood burner until it can be installed? It'll plummet through the floorboards won't it if I try to store it in the house - think it might need to stay on the concrete floored out house until we install it)

Next I have to ring all of these buggers and get quotes.

And we then need to start stripping wallpaper (I bet we end up living in a stripped room for weeks!!!). And I'm suuuuuuuure I'll change my mind about all of the colours that I've decided on for months.

Unfortunately we were hoping to get started stripping (stop giggling) this weekend but DH is helping my sister move house as her ExH despite promising to move her and the kids stuff, is being an emotional blackmailing dramatic arse and wanting the moon on a stick for helping her so she's told him to forget it.

If I have time I plan to go out and do a bit of weeding / pruning in the garden. But I bet I run out of steam before then. However I do seem to combine pregnancy nesting hormones with house renovations quite well in all of my pregnancies so I'm quite excited. Fingers crossed I can stay active in this one. It's the only way we get anything done around the house!!!!!! Blush

PR you sound positively perky Grin

PP twatting phone !

ValiumQueen · 17/02/2014 14:45

DD2 went into nursery this morning and said Mummy used to be in prison but now she does drugs. Great Grin. Then Mummy was in for longer than Daddy. Hmm.

StuntNun · 17/02/2014 15:06

I would go for the bigger one if you have space because you can do a big ham, chicken, pork shoulder, etc. in it.

Ha that is classic vq

Yes, something has lifted my spirits. Can't think what :)

applepieinthesky · 17/02/2014 15:30

I've reserved a 6.5L one to pick up tomorrow. If it's good I may take it to Turkey with us in May, we take turns to cook dinner with the ILs and they are looking forward to my beef stew and dumplings. As it's only FIL, MIL and SIL this time we will be able to afford to eat out more often but not every night.

yw Have you made your appointment to book in yet?

PurplePidjin · 17/02/2014 15:36

I'm fine lily my phone autocorrected pr to problem Grin

how about a story session, most nursery rhymes work as poetry too so you could just read? then keep your eyes peeled for some twat one like me who could lead the singing Wink

YellowWellies · 17/02/2014 16:18

Apple unless you have a hell of a baggage allowance you might struggle bringing it on a plane to Turkey - they are mucho heavy! You'll facepalm when you get it Grin.

I book in next Monday! I could have done it anytime (unlike on the island where I had to wait until 8 weeks) but the MW is only there on Mondays and today was booked up. Please ladies of Fife, let's not be having a baby boom in September / October time Shock. The hospital is only a five minute walk from my house and I'm gonna be bagsying the birth pool Grin. Oh yeah.....

applepieinthesky · 17/02/2014 16:28

We have 23kg baggage allowance each so it might be ok. Will have to see how heavy it is and what else we are taking with us. I have read about other people taking them abroad though.

applepieinthesky · 17/02/2014 16:32

Hope it's not too heavy for me to carry back to the car? I will be going in town on my own with C and will struggle if it is.

YellowWellies · 17/02/2014 16:45

I'd say they are usually a good few kg. Check out the argos product description it should list it.

applepieinthesky · 17/02/2014 16:54

Hmm.. doesn't seem to say. Perhaps if I'm really nice to DP he will come with me before he starts work. Or I could leave C with my dad for an hour.

TheDetective · 17/02/2014 18:24

VQ You should loan her out to prospective parents Grin. Bet your nursery workers are having a good giggle though!

Need to ask a dumb question! Figured someone on here might know!

I've had water damage to my sink unit ever since I moved in stupid knobhead who fitted the kitchen so badly before selling grrrr. I'm going to replace the unit, plus door, and sink. Does anyone know anything about kitchens, and know if I can do this without removing the sideboard? Or if I need to remove it, is this something easily done?! Grin

Bear in mind. All work is likely to be done by me. Hmm

YW there's always a baby boom at that time of year. Chuffin' christmas making people shag. GRR! Wink You'll be fine with the pool. In 10 years, I've known one occasion where someone who rang up in labour wanted the pool, and someone else was in that room. All ended well though! By the time they came in, the other one had given birth. Quick shufty of rooms around, clean up, and sorted! So job was a goodun anyway! Oh, and lots of units have more than one pool now. :)

Lily311 · 17/02/2014 18:37

Is the sink the last unit in the kitchen? If so than it should be screwed on the wall and you will need to lift the workspace to remove it. That should be screwed as well from underneath. That's how my kitchen was when I put in the dishwasher.

On season 5 of dexter now. Not sure I like this, it will be hard to top trinity.

ValiumQueen · 17/02/2014 19:20

Lily nothing tops Trinity, but it is still worth watching.

Forgotten everything I just read. Sorry.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/02/2014 19:26

The Trinity series was amazing - best season of any show ever (except maybe Sopranos). I still havn't watched the final season of Dexter. Missed it when it was on here will need to look out for daytime repeats.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/02/2014 19:27

Trinity season

Didn't the Trinity bloke get an Emmy or something for his character?

StuntNun · 17/02/2014 19:27

Lily season 5 of Dexter was good although Lumen was a bit of an odd character. Season 6 started out gruesome and just got better and better, Colin Hanks was particularly good in it. I miss Dexter now it's finished.

Lily311 · 17/02/2014 19:29

Trinity scared the shit out of me but he was such a good character.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/02/2014 19:40

He was a brilliant actor.

Lily311 · 17/02/2014 20:19

This thread needs to be killed.

Lily311 · 17/02/2014 20:19

Just saying.

Lily311 · 17/02/2014 20:20

I want to be a serial thread killer

Lily311 · 17/02/2014 20:20
