Today Jonas has finally got the dog's name perfectly. He's gone from calling Betsy "dow" (cos I yelled down at her when she was wee and used to jump up! to "Bets" a couple of weeks ago to proper "Betsy" today. He even said "Hiya Betsy" as she circled beneath his high chair at tea time. And when taking his food from his plate and handing it to her he kept saying "Betsy" delightedly. Blush Envy

Have realised why his eating has been off. His tonsils are up. DH and I have both had a sore throat and sore, almost burned feeling lips and tongue so that any sharp food burns like chilli. He's sleeping fine and not especially warm but has been off his food over a week - should I take him to the docs? What do you reckon the sore mouth thing is?

Elizadoesdolittle · 16/02/2014 20:57

det I'm sure he understands more than he lets on. And if he doesn't than its no biggie. He's as bright as a button, very active and inquisitive. You have nothing to worry about.

chasing sorry about your audition.

Well this will probably be my last post for a couple of days as its my big move tomorrow. Will be without internet for a couple of days. Hope everyone has a good week and all the quiche kiddies behave themselves.

Donnadoon · 16/02/2014 20:59

Good luck Eliza :) Wine

ValiumQueen · 16/02/2014 21:11

Yep, good luck Eliza. I hope it all goes smoothly x

Passmethecrisps · 16/02/2014 21:29

Good luck eliza!

For what it's worth det I have the same worries at times. P has no words at all. She makes lots of noises and meows beautifully but no words. She doesn't respond at all to the "where's your nose?" Stuff and if she does try to join in a dance with actions she struggles.

However.

At the park today (where I am sure I met a proclaimer!) I was struck by things p does which other toddlers struggle with. She is fiercely independent and was up the stairs to the slide alone while big boys were shoving past her. I then had to physically stop her from launching herself down the slide before DH had himself positioned to catch her. At one point I pushed her rather than just let momentum carry her down so she shot right through DH's legs - massive giggles.

Does that sound familiar?

I suspect that O and P are cut from the same cloth and are simply developing the stuff that they find important.

None of this stops me worrying and I was a step away from contacting the HV the other day so I hear ya

YellowWellies · 16/02/2014 21:29

Good luck Eliza am so glad it's finally happening! Whoop! See you on the other side Smile

Sophiathesnowfairy · 16/02/2014 21:29

Good luck for the move eliza

We have had a tumble down the stairs. Proper cartwheels. I am feeling a bit traumatised by it. O was up and running around laughing minutes after but I was shaking. The more I think about it the more upset I feel about it.

I keep going and checking on him.

He will be stiff as a board In The morning won't he?

Sad
Passmethecrisps · 16/02/2014 21:31

No, sophia he won't. You will be a shaky nervous wreck and will relive it over and over but he will be absolutely fine. Horrible thing to happen.

TheDetective · 16/02/2014 21:44

Snap Sophia we had a tumble a couple of weeks back. The good thing was, he seemed to learn from it, and discovered how to get down safely, and learned a little more caution about stairs. I'm trying to see it as a positive thing any way Grin. It doesn't stop us feeling like shite, of course. Have some Wine and forget about it!

Chasing Oh yes, very sorry to read your dad backing out. I'd be very cross. Can you rearrange it?

Pass Hmmmm. Yes, you could be on to something. He is independent, but I've never noticed him doing more than his counterparts would. Maybe I just don't notice?

I'm just worrying because I hear over and over 'as long as they are understanding...' etc etc. And he doesn't!

Also, I'd rather he practiced talking. The walking is soooooooooo yesterday Grin.

I did notice I think he can follow one more instruction. Not sure if it was a fluke. But he can do the round and round action for the wheels on the bus. He did the actions with his arms, but then decided fuck it. And just turned himself around instead!

I tried asking him for his book. He just screamed at me.

I tried asking him for a cuddle. He just screamed at me.

I tried asking him to come here. He just ... well. You get the picture.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

ValiumQueen · 16/02/2014 21:47

Sophia he is too young to be stiff x he will be fine and not even remember (or learn from) it. Enjoy your last sleep before your precious girls arrive x

J has a very sore bottom. Teeth for sure. Poor boy. Expecting a bad night. For a change.

Back to work tomorrow for a rest.

ValiumQueen · 16/02/2014 21:48

X post with Det. Obviously he will learn from it

ValiumQueen · 16/02/2014 21:51

J will give kisses if I ask him. He will go around to everybody with pursed lips, then when he gets close it becomes an open-mouthed wet snog.

They do not have to understand everything. They are only 15 months old.

ValiumQueen · 16/02/2014 21:52

And he can blow kisses with the noise and everything.

Passmethecrisps · 16/02/2014 22:04

If I ask p for a kiss she tried to eat my nose then cackles. Nose eating is right up there with other very hilarious things

YellowWellies · 16/02/2014 22:18

Daddy biting the edge of the high chair tray, climbing onto the back of anyone who lays or sits on the floor, me chasing after him on hands and knees threatening to "bite your bottom" and me driving a wheelie toy dog over his back are the comedic highlights at Chez Wellies!

Passmethecrisps · 16/02/2014 22:20

Oh aye! Climbing onto me front or back is HILARIOUS as is sticking both fingers up my nose and trying to yank said nose off my actual face

PetiteRaleuse · 17/02/2014 05:50

I love their senses of humour. It's so slapstick. Such fun.

Must have been scary sophia but he'll be fine. You enjoy your girls.

Right. Enjoy your day quiche.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/02/2014 06:09

Good luck pr

PetiteRaleuse · 17/02/2014 06:21

Thank you

Zamboni · 17/02/2014 06:41

Good luck today PR and Eliza.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/02/2014 06:49

Ooh yes, good luck Eliza

ValiumQueen · 17/02/2014 07:31

Thinking of you PR, Eliza and Sophia x

I want to go back to bed for a year.

Pikz · 17/02/2014 08:04

Good luck Eliza, PR and Sophia.

I too would like to go back to bed. 48 hours of no power, horrific colds and coughs mean we all feel pretty pants.

Elizadoesdolittle · 17/02/2014 08:18

Thanks all. Just waiting for removal men. DH has had to go into work so I should be doing last minute bits but thought a final wave was probably more important.

pr Thinking of you. Look forward to reading an update.

sophia DD1 did that round 18 months so I know how you feel. She was absolutely fine though. Hope O is ok.

Right..... see you on the other side Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/02/2014 08:33

I have checked him over with a fine tooth comb and he is still cheeky and his whinge setting has remained intact!

I adjourned to the playroom to sit by the fire and write my to do list while they play and they have both buggered off to the family room to watch the Octonauts. maybe I should try this more often

Tidy play room I might add although that has a finite lifespan.

Hooray for the day. Let's hope the flight are on time ish and able to land at the right airport!
