I'm 5 foot 1, and all you have to remember is how long your bonnet is.

Oh and it's started raining again. Sad
Evil

YellowWellies · 31/01/2014 22:05

Chasing kung hei fat choi! The year of the horse woo hoo!

Isles enjoy the spa but Sad that it took such drastic arse kicking to elicit. Not exactly a gift giving that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy I'm sure.

I am doing the whole "ohhhhh new shoes" advert thing looking at my pedicured feet. Where have my hobbit feet gone? It's like I've stolen some pretty feet. Smile

Elizadoesdolittle · 31/01/2014 22:08

det Nope, can't see the bonnet.

isles I move 17th Feb. I've pretty much decided to let the girls have a sleep over with the inlaws the night before the move so they aren't there getting under my feet when the removal men arrive. DH has to go to work in the morning and don't fancy dealing with removal men and children on my own!

BigPigLittlePig · 31/01/2014 22:20

I don't think any amount of pedicure-age would make my feet beautiful! Dh says he loves me from the ankles up Grin.

Eliza I think a sleepover sounds perfect. We moved a week before F was born, dh wanted dsd (5) to be there all day as it would be "fun". Thank god I managed to convince him otherwise as she was bored and irritable within about 10 mins on the day. Nanny and grandads was much more fun!

YellowWellies · 31/01/2014 22:25

We've moved twice since J was born. I can't recommend packers enough. Give them your keys. Bugger off. Go somewhere else for the day - I went to my sisters and drank tea whilst DH helped with the unpacking. I've never used a packing service until we had J but it helped me stay sane as he was mid 12 week and 6 month growth spurts when we moved and unputdownable! Other than that have the overnight essentials box (kettle, mug, tea, wine, corkscrew, baby bedtime and bath time essentials, cot, bedding etc) with you and ignore other boxes until the next day.

PetiteRaleuse · 31/01/2014 22:29

About time there was a year of the kick ass horse.

Anyway... Stormy I hate spa days. I buy them for DH who loves them :o

Eliza there are Centerparcs in France and Belgium/Holland, particularly France (l'aisne)which may well be cheaper and better for you.

PetiteRaleuse · 31/01/2014 22:31

I think the Aisne one has Lac in its title. Otherwise a trip to Calais snd a drive up to the Belgian ones. Am fairly sure there were many freds on mn which said the continental prices far outweighed the travel costs.

Elizadoesdolittle · 31/01/2014 22:51

bplp What is it with men. Dh thought DD1 should be around as she'd love the lorry, feel part of it etc etc. Hmmmm yeah right. THey don't have a clue. I asked her what she wanted to do and she said sleep over. Thank goodness she has some sense Smile

yw I will indeed do that. Thanks.

pr I didn't know they had them in France. I'm afraid I can't go to France though. Well I can, DH won't and since part of this trip is to celebrate his impending 40th we'd better not leave him behind.

I saw American Hustle last night. Anyone else seen it? I enjoyed it but don't think it lived up to the hype. I couldn't take my eyes off Amy Adams boobage. It didn't leave much to the imagination!

BigPigLittlePig · 31/01/2014 23:00

Eliza dsd did love the trips to and fro in the van. However she did not appreciate the hours of tedium in between! Hence the call for help to the ILs!

F just woke up shrieking and was whacking her pillow with her hand when I went in. Nightmare?! Funny girl.

PetiteRaleuse · 31/01/2014 23:05

They have them in Belgium, Holland and Germany too. Just in case it is a pure aversion to French stuff...

Elizadoesdolittle · 31/01/2014 23:22

pr I'm afraid it is indeed a pure aversion to France Blush Sometimes my DH really does cut his nose off to spite his face. Germany could be fun!

FatimaLovesBread · 31/01/2014 23:41

Errrrghhhhaaarrghhh I feel hideous! Just woken from a nightmare about Peter Andre. Am curled up in a ball with shivers, can't get back to sleep cos I feel cold.
Going to go run a bath I think to warm me up and get the other duvet from the loft today be lie on the sofa with. Sad
I don't have to energy to move

Lydiejo · 01/02/2014 03:17

Jealous of the spa days. I'd love a pedicure, but never had one!

It seems like L is learning so quickly these days. Her favorite things are swimming in my parents hot tub, peekaboo, patty cake, making messes and climbing into the empty tub to play. Today I said "mommy?" And she pointed to me! Now I just wish she would say it already.

This age is so fun! Makes me think I'm ready for a baby again....

Lily311 · 01/02/2014 05:13

Def use a packing and unpacking company. I will never move without them. Ever. Took my share of self packing, no more.

kyz huge hugs. I will hug O today a little bit more often.

And decoration going on here too. Need to choose paints and wallpaper, order shelves and wardrobes. I need a completely new kitchen, this one just doesn't work for us.

I need a pedicure. I will actually book it today. My feet are awful.

Lily311 · 01/02/2014 05:14

Oh and I have a cleaner coming in today. Pls tell me I am not the only one who has one. Feel guilty for paying but I need a clean flat.

StuntNun · 01/02/2014 07:02

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Kyz. That must be completely devastating. Thanks

Eliza when we moved in November we got the kids out of the way and let the movers do everything. DH and I were on hand in an advisory role, and to make cups of tea and coffee for the packers. I set up a 'do not pack' room in our en suite with cleaning products, bin bags, vacuum etc. so we could clean up after the rooms were clear, e.g. vacuuming where shelves had been, cleaning inside kitchen cupboards.

Parking sensors are the biz. My car has them on the front and back and while parking isn't a doddle (it's an S-Max) it's certainly a lot easier and less stressful with them.

OP posts:
Pikz · 01/02/2014 07:04

Lily we have one as DP refuses to do any cleaning so he pays for a cleaner as apparently according to his spreadsheets it's cheaper per hour as his time is more expensive per hour.

I don't know how any of you co sleep. I did last night as he just wouldn't settle . What an absolute nightmare.

Kyz despite the nightmare that was last night I shall hold L very very right today.

YW wouldn't need to pee for another week or so...

Pikz · 01/02/2014 07:06

I packed exactly like stunt except with no DP as he was jumping out of planes.

I also have parking sensors and would never buy a car without them

BigPigLittlePig · 01/02/2014 07:14

Urgh, what a shit night.

Brew
StormyIsles · 01/02/2014 07:31

Oh that's my mums birthday eliza so I won't forget that!

This will be my 6th move in 5 years. 9th if you count every time I've moved back home after some life disaster Blush in fairness I was moved around the country every 6 months on placement as a student I moved into this house with a Citroen xsara and my dad's estate car. I think we will hire a van to move out. As we have very little in the way of furniture it is mostly just 'stuff'

I don't think it will be my most stressful move, but doing it in a weekend with m and a as I will be in the middle of training at work will throw in an interesting dimension.

stormy isles. Queen of making life unnecessarily stressful. Confused

My next big car will have parking sensors. Couldn't justify them for the fiat Wink

PetiteRaleuse · 01/02/2014 08:05

Bonjour la quiche. Today I am happy. DH is off for two weeks, the girls too, and we have lots of bits and pieces planned, and friends coming to stay, and embassies to go to to sort out the girls' nationality. I realised that yesterday was my last day on my own before my rtw. It was a productive day at least.

ValiumQueen · 01/02/2014 08:17

^like^

ditsygal · 01/02/2014 08:23

Kyz I'm so sorry that is so sad. Do feel free to talk about it here - we are here to listen.
Interested in the Centre Parcs chat, we are hoping to go to the Sherwood forest one this year - I've never been before so I'm quite excited!
lily I wish we had a cleaner - I met invest in one when we move house (hopefully this year)
Thanks for the Douglas Kennedy recommendation to the few of you talking about it - I am always on the look out for new books so will add them to my kindle list!

StuntNun · 01/02/2014 08:26

DH's car doesn't have sensors but it's an MX-5 and so small you can still fit it into a space where the cars on both sides are over the line.

I forgot to update you on my dad - turns out his sacram is broken in two places. Confused Mum's not sure whether he'll be send home, kept in hospital or will be able to go into a care home temporarily for respite care while it heals.

Kyz I am so sorry (((hug)))

I moved on my own with DD1 at 10 months. She chose that day to learn how to crawl! I did all the packing myself as DH was away. It was very hard. Neighbours moved in on Thursday while their kids were at the school (from about 10 miles away) and the poor kids were in floods of tears coming home to a new house. DD1 recognised them so went over to say hello and all the tears vanished. Our neighbours think we are awesome now Smile

I went to the outlet village yesterday after work and got £170 worth of stuff for £40 vouchers as there was a massive clearance on. Nearly all for J, and a few bits for next Christmas. Particularly pleased with a snowsuit and snugly cardi SmileThe vouchers were left over from Christmas. I put £1.62 towards it Grin
