Our laundry pile. I swear to you it reproduces by itself. Obscene quantities of stuff.

Got the fright of my life this evening when I opened a clothes drawer and pussypig leapt out. Bloody creature will be the death of me.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/02/2014 20:36

Spa stuff. Hate it. Occasional leg waxing yep. Hate hair appointments. Have had fake nails put on but got a bad case of cellulitis last time (no exaggeration - that was scary). Am massively foot phobic so a pedicure is out of the question. I hate washing my own feet. DD1 likes to do little piggies on me and I have to really concentrate so I don't kick out at her. Ugh.

Evilwater · 01/02/2014 20:42

We should all go to bath and go in the spa there. It's amazing, I miss going there, and bath is wonderful too. It's expensive, and there is no way I can afford to go now. :(

Here is the link, www.thermaebathspa.com

I'm sure there is something for everyone.

It might interest you all, talking spas, that my nearest proper spa town is my nearest town. In Lux. If ever any of you come to visit me we are 7 minutes' drive from a proper spa. It's great. And compared to your prices, cheap. They are now marketing a ludicrously expensive gym but other than that it is cheap. People get sent there for weeks on the Lux NHS for physio and to take the waters. I was offered it as part of my back treatment but refused as I didn't want to be apart from my cats DH.

YellowWellies · 01/02/2014 20:58

Evil I've always wanted to go there. That and Hamner Springs in NZ where you can sit in a natural hot spring under the stars...

Passmethecrisps · 01/02/2014 20:59

Monster munch gone yet yw?

ChasingDaisy · 01/02/2014 21:02

Pig, the biggest fright of my life to date is when I opened the electricity meter box and a pigeon flew out. We had heard something rattling around the walls for days...

Spa days. Never had one. Would like one. Well, a massage and a manicure at least. I would kill for a massage, my back is completely fucked. Have only had one manicure in my life, but I LOVE having my hair done. I will happily sit for hours having it coloured and cut. Pedicures - ugh, god no. When I was a kid, a paving slab fell I my big toe, leaving the nail hanging off. Ever since then I can't touch my big toes. Cutting my nails is traumatic and if anyone ever goes near my big toe they get kicked.

YellowWellies · 01/02/2014 21:07

Yep Pass I've inhaled them. DH had the sense not to ask for one! Yorkie was not so nice - tasted cheesy. I've been too long off dairy everything with milk in now tastes a bit cheesy / curdled Sad

ditsygal · 01/02/2014 21:11

I think I have chilblains on my toes on one foot - particularly on one toe and it itches like hell (didn't know what was wrong but dr google as concluded probably chilblains and therefore nothing to particularly worry about). Anyone ever had this and got any remedies to stop the itching - it's driving me mad tonight!

Passmethecrisps · 01/02/2014 21:11

Cheesy chocolate Envy

A colleague of mine was watching the telly one night a couple of months ago. There was a sudden big noise and swoosh of smoke - a pigeon fell down the chimney into the fire! He put out the flames and rescued the pigeon. It made the bbc news!!

PetiteRaleuse · 01/02/2014 21:12

Inspiring blog here : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/guest_posts/1984888-Running-like-a-girl-how-I-won-my-own-race

Wow.

chasing my foot phobia stems from playing barefoot in a fountain at Chatsworth House, stubbing my toe and losing the nail. Turned the water around my foot red. I was 14 and probably old enough to not have been such a wuss about it

ChasingDaisy · 01/02/2014 21:15

Ah, very similar then PR. Even thinking about it is making me want to rip my toe off. Ugh.

Evilwater · 01/02/2014 21:16

Well one day we might be able to all go up.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/02/2014 21:20

ditsy I used to get chilblains as a child. V uncomfortable. I can't remember a remedy. I think I was told to suck it up. Hmm

Definitely keep your feet warm though.

[ugh]

Pigeons. One flew into my flat in Versailles. Shat all over the place. I used an atlas as a shield as it kept flapping at me. The shield became an unintentional weapon (ffs it was flapping everywhere, bouncing off the walls) and I thought I had just knocked it out. Nope. Had killed it. Year of the heatwave (Paris 2003 or 2002) and I left it by an open window with water so it could wake up, drink, and fly off while I went to work. Oh the smell. It fried on that window sill. :(

If I hadn't killed the poor thing I'd look back and laugh. But I still feel guilty.

Passmethecrisps · 01/02/2014 21:23

Great suggestion pr. I was quite into running for a while. Really enjoyed it until I strained both by Achilles' tendons at once. I could barely walk and it took weeks to heal. It really put me off. I am currently signed up for a leg if the Edinburgh marathon with colleagues from work. I have still done no training. Strangely, though, whenever I even think about running I feel good. I sometimes use it like a visualisation exercise

YellowWellies · 01/02/2014 21:27

I love running but haven't managed to do more than the odd run post baby. Tena lady tastic Confused ! I do miss the regular running high.

TheDetective · 01/02/2014 21:28

I've never had a spa day. Or manicure, pedicure, waxing or anything!

I did once have my eyebrows waxed, and eyelashes tinted for a holiday as I would be going make up free a lot and look hideous!.

I haven't had it done again. Might for another holiday in my dreams.

I don't wear nail varnish. In fact, I gave it up when I became a student. I gave up 2 things when I became a student. The other was watching TV regularly. I used to watch soaps, holby, casualty etc etc. I rarely watch any series of anything now. That was 10 years ago Grin. Although the invention of catch up TV has been great. I watch a little more these days. I've watched Call The Midwife. And Dexter. We tried a couple of series of things, but haven't found anything else yet. :)

I just used to look at people blankly when they talked about TV stuff. I bet they thought I was weird! I stopped reading magazines, and knowing about the latest 'stuff' around that time too! Just didn't have the time for anything else.

Makes me sad actually. I pretty much spent 3 years working solidly. No rest/leisure time really.

Anyway. Reaping the rewards now :)

TheDetective · 01/02/2014 21:30

I haven't managed to get a car seat still.

Went to pramworld - they didn't have the priorifix, they don't know when they will be back in stock.

They didn't have any ERF on display.

They did have the kiddy pro guardian 2, which was the one I wanted to try.

They had a seat set up so you could try it in store.

O went BALLISTIC! Absolutely apeshit. He managed to push the bumper away even though it was strapped in.

Won't be getting one of those....

Passmethecrisps · 01/02/2014 21:32

I think I am going to try to use the treadmills at school once or twice a week. Even if I only get half an hour that is a few miles and better than nothing.

I need to do something

Pikz · 01/02/2014 21:34

Running saved me through infertility treatments and work stress. Running London marathon is one of my greatest achievements. I've run 5km since L. I need to get it back. I loved it.

Passmethecrisps · 01/02/2014 21:37

I am so impressed you ran the marathon pikz!

I feel all I do is work. I don't feel like I do anything which is just for me.

YellowWellies · 01/02/2014 21:37

I used to run across the Forth bridge and back every evening. I luffed it!!!! Pikz a marathon - just wow! Smile

Pikz · 01/02/2014 21:37

I have a gel nail kit with uv light thingy as I miss getting my nails done as only way of stopping me biting them. I always have painted toenails too. The rest of spa treatments I hate. Find it all very uncomfortable.

Det L also went bonkers in the kiddy pro. We ended up with a pearl and an axiss. He loves both.

YellowWellies · 01/02/2014 21:39

Pass I keep thinking that running was something just for me.... must get back into it even if we're planning on getting knocked up this summer....

Pikz · 01/02/2014 21:39

Pass what do you like doing?

It's hard with a small person and work. I love excercise as it makes me feel good but I can't get out anywhere so I go to 1 circuits a week and 1 boxercise and then have davina fit in 15 or 30 day shred for the days I can't get out. It saves me.
