Haha the iSand Grin You'd have to buy their own sand as nothing else would be compatible. And it would be the prettiest sandpit but inexplicably expensive. And you'd have to recharge it every 5 minutes....

meringue33 · 16/05/2014 21:14

Grin Glorious

Shock at toilet hiding. I'm quite germ phobic so that would majorly freak me out! Funny though.

LO is getting better at putting things away in cupboards as well as taking them out. This could be promising :)

lollipoppi · 17/05/2014 07:48

Birdies, love X new hiding place Grin

What's everyone's plans for the weekend, the weather is beautiful, we're having a garden day today, kids can play whilst I tackle the mountain of ironing in the sunshine!

JuniperTisane · 17/05/2014 08:55

Doesn't involve ironing, thats for sure Shock! Some gardening later and lunch in town. Swimming tommorrow. Feels like picnic weather.

Shame we don't all live a bit closer. A toddler picnic would be good fun and totally chaotic

LetThereBeCupcakes · 17/05/2014 19:57

We're at a steam rally this weekend. Dog2 is in an agility display team so we're camping with the rest of the club. DS is asleep so just waiting for the BBQ to provide us with dinner!

Loving the idea of a toddler picnic!

OohQuack · 17/05/2014 20:54

Tomorrow im at work but might be 'sick' cos it looks like dp has what made me bedridden Wednesday. Today I dropped dexter off at mil for a bit so I could get an eye test. He had loads of fun, we got back and he had his sleep while we built his tykes coupe thing (which is a winner n all kids need) and had the paddling pool... which he refused to sit in because he slipped standing up... but we'll get there.

Loo hiding is hilarious.

Ive got an issue though ladies. He's started finding it hilarious when he hooks my mouth or nose and yanks like hardcore pinching. Do u think I should start the whole "no" and putting him alone tactic? aswell as remembering to cut his nails more often

OohQuack · 17/05/2014 21:11

On another note about sand pits our garden isn't the biggest so I was going to buy this on offer at 15!!! www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-sand-water-table/497-6903.prd
And get the grandparents to stick a propper sized pit in their garden so I dont have to deal with sand removal

Angielka · 17/05/2014 21:20

Toddler picnic would be MAD.

We also have some yanking/hitting and big grins so I tend to say "NO" then walk away or if Molly's done it to someone else, give them loads of attention and ignore Molly once she's had her serious no, or tell her to be nice and give cuddles. It seems to be improving - we met a friend with a 3-month-old today and she was very gentle with her. When I was giving the baby a cuddle, Molly came over and cuddled us both (when I was bracing for at least an outraged cry!)

I also need some advice though. Molly came back from nursery with another a black eye yesterday, and it got me thinking. When DD1 was her age she tripped and fell off things a bit I guess, but it seems like Molly is the most clumsy toddler ever. She is forever catching herself on doors and tripping over her feet. Are others like this and I just have to wait for her to learn how to stop hurting herself or should I be listening to the irritating little voice saying maybe she has a balance problem that could indicate something else...?

Lovely day in the sun today. Both kids smeared in sun cream but still had pink cheeks this evening Blush

Polyethyl · 17/05/2014 21:22

We've just been invited to a 8-12 month developmental check! Just a little bit late!

Here's a photo of my DD. She is capable of throwing screaming tantrums, but thankfully can be easily distracted by food or tickles.

She has also posted toys into the loo - so we keep that door shut now.

Jan 2013: hooray for tits!
OohQuack · 17/05/2014 22:22

Love that dress! And yes to loo door shut... took me two weeks to learn its best

TooManyBubbas · 17/05/2014 22:42

angie re the balance thing they are still quite new walkers so easily unbalanced IYSWIM. Also when ds2 was 3 and went through a phase of falling off things, running into things etc etc someone told me that when they have growth spurts its quite quick so they're more clumsy as their size keeps changing. Not sure if that makes sense but she could be havinng a growth spurt..maybe.. Hmm

Love the idea of a toddlers picnic that would be mad!

oohquack Ivy gets a firm no then is put down.

Poor Ivy fell over and bounced her little head off the pavement today Sad She was running to meet ds2 coming back from the shop and ended up with a huge lump on her head.

Dcs have been enjoying the lovely weather in the garden. They were all playing with our old coupe car thing until ds1 got stuck in it. He's 10 Grin

Birdies · 18/05/2014 09:34

meringue I hate germs too, am a bit OCD about them...so you can imagine my face when I found her!! Plonked her straight in the bath fully clothed and ran water around her Grin. I was just relieved that someone had flushed the loo the last time they'd been ;)

She is very cute poly

angiel (and bubbas) X is very accident prone too. The other day she dived off a chair head first onto a hard tiled floor, bounced off the top of her head and landed on her back. It took me a day to stop thinking about it (it took her about 2 minutes!). We've had lots of falling over too. And the head bounce she tried again on carpet later on as well. She also found dishwasher rinse aid the other day and by the time I noticed she was coughing a bit. I had to smell her mouth to see if it smelt of lemons and then spent a few hours wondering if she had drunk any (I was almost 100% sure she hadn't and she was fine, but I got really paranoid).

quack I do a firm 'no' as well and it sometimes works. I think they're too young for putting them alone though. I was told not to shout the 'no' or look upset, just say it very firmly and seriously (as otherwise they can enjoy seeing mummy shouting and are naughty more often!!).

bubbas if they're the cars you mean I can't see how he'd have even got into it haha!

Have a lovely day everyone. Got X to keep a hat on by using one with a strap, thanks glorious.

meringue33 · 18/05/2014 15:22

Aw she's adorable Poly!

I bet your loo is very clean then anyway Birdies! I'd have done the same!

My worry with LO is he doesn't seem to have any sense of danger or restraint at all. I see other tots sticking close to their mums in public but he will just race off in the park or in a shop. He chases after random kids, adults, dogs... He also throws himself head first off of things and doesn't seem to realise that if I wasn't there to catch him there would be consequences!

He eats stones, mud and flowers. He would have eaten slugs, snails and fox poo by now too if I hadn't caught him in time. The slide was moved out of the toddler room at nursery shortly after he moved into it :(

TooManyBubbas · 18/05/2014 16:12

Eeek just sold my fiesta. sad to see it go but with no middle seat belt its no good for us.

birdies i have no idea how ds1 got in there but no wonder he got stuck. just goes to show what a good investment they are though :)

Polyethyl · 19/05/2014 07:30

No sense of self preservation! She has learnt to climb up onto the chairs, from which it is an easy step up to standing on the diningroom table. I came running whereupon she shouts an infant version of GERONIMO and leaps of the table into my arms.

I am going grey.

lollipoppi · 19/05/2014 17:05

Meringue he sounds just like my ds1, he had, and still has, no fear at all, close supervision required at all times Wink

Loving this weather, DD and DS have been in bed at 7pm and flat out for the night! This is a small miracle for DS1 who is normally up 3times a night

glorious · 19/05/2014 17:13

poly I'm sorry but the infant version of geronimo did make me giggle! Grin I think you've got an adventurer on your hands!

DiamondInTheRuff · 20/05/2014 20:44

I just went upstairs and looked in the mirror and realised I had a thick black crayon mark down my face. Then I remembered that DS had done it quite early on in the afternoon - before we went out to walk the dogs / visit the neighbours. Oh dear.

Bubbas what are you replacing it with?

No sense of self preservation here, either. I think Nursery have got a stack of pre-printed accident forms with DS' name on now... Blush

LetThereBeCupcakes · 20/05/2014 20:53

Oops - sorry - that was me.

OohQuack · 20/05/2014 23:48

Chair climber here too... no accidents....yet.

I had to video him watching pingu today cos for some reason he found this one scene hilarious and ive no idea why of course I kept rewinding and playing

JuniperTisane · 21/05/2014 07:18

I have a poorly sick boy in bed with me this morning Sad. Half a dozen episodes overnight, seems to have passed but hes very quiet now.

What to do with a perfectly well rampaging preschooler confined to the house as our plans are cancelled now?

JuniperTisane · 21/05/2014 07:23

Just learning the chair climbing here, his legs arent quite long enough to get up yet though he gives it a good go. He can manage ds1's bed and the sofa but anything taller is too much so far.

Are you namechanging Cupcake/Diamond?

lollipoppi · 21/05/2014 09:16

Grin Cupcakes

Juniper we have been in quarantine too, with ds1 asthma, and now dd has a horrible cough and sounding wheezy. How about building a den in the garden, or outdoor painting?

TooManyBubbas · 21/05/2014 12:33

cupcakes have replaced it with a focus so i have enough proper seatbelts. Dp is rarely with us and when he is he uses his motorbike. Its the newest car i've ever had just got to get used to it now!

juniper poor dan :( Maybe you could set up an obstacle course in yout garden?

Ivy has now got some lovely cuts on her nose after fallimg flat on her face in the garden. This weather is lovely but the more she runs around outside the more she falls over!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 21/05/2014 14:03

Juniper just posted on a thread as my dog, hence the "dog" name. No plans for a permanent change. Yet.

I want to be out in the garden. DS wants to be inside. Harrumph.
