Oh tugs how disappointing, I'm sorry now you can move to Hither Green instead Seriously, what a pain. I hope you have a really good holiday and come back feeling refreshed.

Sleep still dire and new job very demanding. Not the best combination. DH also worse again and says if I have a bad day that makes him feel bad so I feel that I have to deal with it by myself. He hasn't said that though. Anyway I'm just getting on with things, it's all manageable.

E is able to walk about 10-15 steps but is quite reluctant and falls over a lot. It's only been about 3 weeks since first steps so sounds like O isn't far behind her tugs. My youngest niece wouldn't weight bear or pull up until nearly 2 and then walked really quickly after that.

salt hope Floss is all better now. How are you?

mrsbug · 12/05/2014 19:56

tugs one of my friend's babies didn't walk till 18 months, she was worried but the hv and doctor told her not to worry and sure enough her little girl just got up and walked one day.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 12/05/2014 20:00

tugs my friend's daughter was 2 when she finally decided she'd had enough of crawling and got up and walked. Don't worry - she'll get there.

lolli I am very impressed with the hair! I can only do French plaits in my own hair Hmm

glorious that sounds incredibly tough. Is there somebody in RL you can offload to from time to time? Are you at least enjoying the job, even if it's demanding? So sorry sleep is still rubbish. We are slowly making progress here but it does feel like one step forward 2 steps back half the time.

Nappy rash still really bad. Poor boy. I could throttle DH. Lazy thoughtless arse.

glorious · 13/05/2014 07:58

I'm ok really. The job is interesting, I'm not sure I'd go as far as enjoyable yet because it's too high pressure right now but I think it will be once I've got everyone to agree how we should go about the key bit of work and the team is happier. O haven't talked about the DH situation irl, no, as it would feel like breaking a confidence.

glorious · 14/05/2014 20:13

Oh dear, my gloom has put everyone off. On the plus side just got E some shoes and she's in love! She looks so proud of herself!

OohQuack · 14/05/2014 21:08

:-D glorious. We are going to get him remeasured in june for his shoes he's got very wide feet and a mother who refuses to put him in shitty looking shoes I have standards about what he can wear so choice is limited:-D theres a new shop opened near me called stomp. Have a look on facebook, their websites being rrebuilt but you can see their shoes, tthey are gorgeous

I feel so sorry for him right now I think he has my sore throat headache thing and hes coughing in his sleep the poor soul.

No smoking for a month... wont lie... ive wanted to!

meringue33 · 15/05/2014 18:42

Well done Lora :)
Bless Ellen!
Our LO is absolutely obsessed with socks and shoes now. Many happy minutes whiled away by trying on every odd sock in the pile including mummy and daddy's socks. He likes his own monster socks the best.
He loves his shoes as associates them with going out somewhere fun and likes to just hold them and wander round too. He goes mad if you try to take them away.

TooManyBubbas · 15/05/2014 19:38

meringue Ivy is too! She can happily spend ages putting socks, shoes or tights on, and woe-betide the person who tries to help her!

Ivy sick today :( Woke up with a temp and really quiet and off her food all day. She did perk up at thw end though so hoping its just a 24 hour thing

OohQuack · 15/05/2014 20:02

All poorly here too we are both bunged up and coughing. Calpol have discontinued their plug ins which has totally left me in the lurch when I need one now!! Is there an alternative anyone knows off? Vicks in a bowl wont last 8 hrs

LetThereBeCupcakes · 15/05/2014 20:39

Quack congratulations with the smoking! What an achievement. Sorry you are unwell. Hadn't heard Calpol have discontinued their plug-in. Gutted!

Still shoe obsessed here, too.

Looked after my friend's DD this afternoon for half an hour. She is a few weeks younger than DS. DS was NOT impressed! They get on fine when my friend is here too but I don't think DS liked having to share me! Crikey, could get awkward if / when we have DC2!

JuniperTisane · 15/05/2014 21:09

We like stacking shoes here. And opening the velcro over and over and over...

Poor Ivy and Dexter. Being ill is crap. Are they discontinuing the calpol plug-in? Is that the one with the stupid blue light on the front? We taped over it and in the end switched to Karvol plugin instead but they discontinued that a while ago now. We just use snufflebabe on the chest and keep a wet sponge in the room for moisture. Doesn't seem any less effective than the plug-ins.

I have a free day tomorrow. DH is taking DS1 to his nans early in the morning and he's staying all day so its just me and Dan and no plans at all. What shall we do?

mrsbug · 15/05/2014 22:53

Juniper the weather is supposed to be great tomorrow, wish I had the day off Envy. If I did I would take dd for a picnic in the park, or maybe to the farm to see baby animals.

We also have shoe obsession. Dd says SSSHoooo whenever she sees shoes (or socks).

Well done on the smoking quack

Birdies · 16/05/2014 08:55

I need to catch up on everything, will have a read. Just posted on promotional codes thread as we got a little tykes sandpit from Toys r us yesterday, way cheaper than anywhere else. In time for the hot weekend!

Two quick questions please! One - how do I get X to keep a summer hat on? Do they just get fed up of taking it off or am I doomed to keeping her in the shade?

Also, anyone else's baby having tantrums? X goes round pointing at everything she wants saying 'do' and if I can't give her whatever it is she goes mad! I hate her crying but as soon as I give her what she wants she stops. Such a little monkey! Presume I'm meant to just ignore until she realises crying won't work?

She's also taken to hiding everywhere, the latest one being in the toilet bowl. As in, entire body apart from head and one shoulder shoved down the toilet.

Will have a read of what I've missed now, hope everyone is ok and has a lovely weekend.

Birdies · 16/05/2014 08:57

Should add, she was thrilled with herself for finding the new hiding place. Mummy was not so thrilled! Lids down from now on...

JuniperTisane · 16/05/2014 09:20

Hiding in the loo! Excellent. Dan tantrums at everything too. Sometimes angry but often its big tears and woe, especially if we shut the garden door. DH and I laugh at him DS1 never did this.

Hats don't stay on for longer than 10 seconds here either. I've been slapping sunscreen on his head as he doesn't have much hair really.

glorious · 16/05/2014 09:34

Do your hats have straps under the chin? It takes E a bit longer to get one of those off cos she has to think about it, so she doesn't always bother... but she's not particularly worried by hats and is generally only taking it off so that she can put it back on again herself, so perhaps not the same as the hat escapees.

I love the hiding down the toilet! E likes trying to drop things in, and the other day I suddenly noticed that she was about to put my ipod under me as I was having a wee - I'd recommend that as excellent pelvic floor exercise!

mrsbug · 16/05/2014 11:08

Love the thought of x hiding in the loo! Luckily we have a stairgate between the bathroom and the toilet (they used to be separate rooms so there is a doorway with no door), i keep all of our nasty cleaning products and the cats litter tray in there out of dds reach.

does the sandpit have a cover. If so I'm interested...

what are you doing today juniper?

dd wont wear a hat either. She takes it off and tries to put it on my head instead!

she has started to give herself a round of applause after she does anything.

we are having some tantrums here too, for example if she doesn't like her food then it all gets thrown on the floor and she screams 'nana nana' at us (because she wants a banana instead)

Birdies · 16/05/2014 11:36

Thanks everyone, good to know tantrums are the norm! Although DD1 doesn't tantrum either juniper so it's new to me as well!

glorious yes I've got an old one somewhere with a strap I will dig it out, thanks.

Re food as soon as X sees me eating anything else she wants it. And cup throwing is another favourite activity. I'm adopting the 5 second rule and just putting it back on her highchair!

mrsbug yes it has a lid. I did a fair bit of reviewing and the plastic ones seem to keep more of the bugs at bay. People say to put something heavy on top of the lid to stop wind blowing it off but that's easy enough to do. It looks nice and is just big enough for 2 I think.

JuniperTisane · 16/05/2014 12:10

I'm in Kiddicare cafe right now, Mrsbug, about to look at pushchairs Blush

mrsbug · 16/05/2014 17:57

Ooh tempted by the sandpit... I need a lid to stopmy next door's cat pooing in it.

Had to pick dd up early from nursery today as she needed her inhaler and I hadn't sent itin in with her... This is a new development as she's only needed it before when she's had a cold. She was fine once she had it and is now scraping the sauce off her pasta before she eats it Hmm

mrsbug · 16/05/2014 18:40

Do you need a code to get it for cheap?

Birdies · 16/05/2014 18:44

Nope no code needed. It's £24.99 which is about £10 cheaper than anywhere else. I don't know why they are selling them for that price as it doesn't even show up as an offer. I saw it on a deals website as well.

Depending on what you're after, a friend of mine uses a plastic under bed storage box from Ikea as a sandpit. It has a lid too and is only £6 if you can collect it. But it's much smaller than the turtle and doesn't look as pretty!

glorious · 16/05/2014 19:16

Our sandpit is an apple from argos (with lid) and was pretty cheap too.

TooManyBubbas · 16/05/2014 19:50

birdies Grin at hiding in the loo.

Ivy also wants anything I'm eating. We have tamtrums here too. No idea why half the thr time!

Hope everyone enjoying the lovely weather, Ivy been running round the garden all day 'helping' me with the washing.

After all that trouble getting her in the bath, today she got upset when i went to takw her out! Toddlers eh?!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 16/05/2014 19:58

glorious when I read your post I thought that Apple were making sandpits now! I had a strange vision of it being called an iSand...

No loo hiding here, but plenty of tantrums. Oh yes. Usually in shops, whilst I laugh / ignore him, and old ladies tut at me.

Juniper I want to go to kiddiecare and look at pushchairs. Envy. I have now decided that I want another DC and therefore need to inspect the double buggies URGENTLY. Even though we can't possibly afford another DC for at least 18 months...
