Hello ladies, can you believe we will be entering into a 6th year of this thread this year?

So our teachers have an inset day today. I'm not dissing teachers, but surely they have enough time in their holidays to do any training etc? I'm not gagging for the girls to go back to school, but I think they're ready.

Jam, I can stab him for you, if you'd like? X

Indith · 22/04/2014 12:23

beans the number of teaching days children have is set in stone and has not reduced. teacher training days when they were introduced actually came out of the teacher's holidays so they already have given up their holidays for them.

I'm in uni bashing my head against a brick wall. laptop battery died so I've had to put our back in to charge and can't spread enough at the computer desks so I think I'm going to head home.

Vagolajahooli · 22/04/2014 13:28

what teachers have given up holidays for inset time....I didn't agree to that! To be fair they work on average 50-60 hours a week (i also didn't agree to that and am hoping I truly love the profession & won't mind working that much Hmm), an extra days training is fair.

Sybs would love to but just not sure I can find a free weekend! I know I will deffo be coming over in late October early November. If we could organise something near Beans I could look at cheapies into Standsted.

I think I need a detox, too much fatty food & chocolate over the weekend.

Hello fabulous ladies! Am back and fighting fit. After being ill and sent to hospital and all that I went to Mum's for a week (where I was still feeling rough) and then we went to Southern Spain for a week which was gorgeous. Finally we went to DP's Mum's for two days straight from the airport and only got back yesterday afternoon. I can honestly say yesterday was the first day in ages I felt truly full of beans. That's nearly all of April! What a dose. Anyway, have finally got round to resetting and hope to be back for a giant catch up tonight or tomorrow night. Am nearly 16wks so time flies! No bump of course. Just a fat arse from eating too much. Hope you all had a brilliant Easter!

Mckayz · 22/04/2014 17:17

Hello,

It's my birthday tomorrow and driving test attempt #2. Keep your fingers, toes and legs crossed for me please!!

Honsandrevels · 22/04/2014 18:22

Hello everyone, I'm so behind. It took me ages to do the password reset! Lazy!

Good luck Kayz!

Back to school for dd1 today but my work and preschool were closed. I'd have liked an inset day today. All ours are on Mondays when I'm at work.

ShadyLadyT · 22/04/2014 23:05

No bloomin' time for my catch up tonight but didn't want to go to bed without saying Happy Birthday to Kayz for tomorrow and more importantly - good luck for tomorrow. Breathe, and relax!

I had a beautifully light wireless Apple keyboard for my iPad as one of my birthday presents last week. Loving it. No more silly iPad screen keyboard!

Oh, we had an Inset Day today over here as well. DD1 is not that chuffed at returning to school, poor lamb.

OverlookedConfection · 23/04/2014 06:34

Happy birthday Kayz! Hope it's a good one. Fingers crossed for the driving. Keep calm and just think of it like any other lesson.

So tired today. A long one beckons. DOn't finish til 8.30pm. eek!

Have a good day y'all

Nolda · 23/04/2014 07:26

Good luck, Kayz! And a very Happy Birthday.

Mckayz · 23/04/2014 10:52

I did it!!!!!

RTchoke · 23/04/2014 11:04

Congrats Kayz! You will have so much freedom now.

We are in the Canaries having a lovely time. I wrote this by the pool where the girls are splashing about. DS is napping on a day bed next to me. Our schools seem to have different hold to all the others as the girls don't go back 'til middle of next week. It's great as it means most of the other tourists have gone home.

I'm glad you are all better Lady. The other C had her baby yesterday. I'm so excited for her. Another little boy and a great labour that has left her really elated.

Nolda · 23/04/2014 16:31

Well done, Kayz! That's brilliant news and a super birthday present. I am so pleased for you.

Honsandrevels · 23/04/2014 20:05

Well done Kayz, brilliant news. Happy birthday!

TheInvisibleHand · 25/04/2014 20:14

that's lovely beans - enjoy them! they can be a delight sometimes, can't they?

well done kayz - what a way to celebrate your birthday!

RTchoke · 26/04/2014 21:10

Aww Beans that is lovely.

I'm having a rather less elated experience of parenting right now. Just back from Lanzarote which was a nice enough week although I cant say i loved the place, i found it rather charmless although thankfully the yurt complex where we were staying was v nice. Destination aside our holiday was rather marred by first DD2, then DH and now DD1 getting a vomiting virus. This last six months has just been one illness after another and it's so depressing. I can't stand it or the effect it has on our family time and plans. Bleurgh.

I'm also finding DS a bit challenging, he's into everything and you can't turn your back on him for a second. Finally I feel a bit distant from DH at the mo, I can't put my finger on what's wrong but we just aren't communicating and making each other laugh like we normally do. So that's me: moan, moan, moan. I better go unpack.

ShadyLadyT · 27/04/2014 08:58

Art, that is such a bummer about the vom virus, especially on holiday, and especially with how you feel about it. I think there is so much pressure to feel absolutely great on holiday (am talking mentally now) and also to have a great time with your DH/P so don't worry about feeling a bit of a disconnect with DH. Ebb and flow is entirely natural and normal, anyway. I was very pleased about C's baby, I saw it on FB. All that unpacking dirty washing is such a downer as well - you'll feel better later...

Can't do big catch up as we are taking the girls to soft play. Yup. Just kill me now. More later though.

JamInMyWellies · 27/04/2014 12:04

DS2 has fallen off his scooter. I think he may have broken his leg. DH has taken him to A&E. HmmHmm

Mckayz · 27/04/2014 12:17

Oh no Jam. Hope it's not a break.

Indith · 27/04/2014 12:19

Oh dear jammy, hope he is ok. Still, a broken bone is a rite of passage isn't it? If he gets a cast he will be the coolest child in school Smile .

Good to see you back ladyt.

ds2 is the grumpiest, clingiest child in the world.

JamInMyWellies · 27/04/2014 12:37

Am sure once he is not in pain he would be delighted with a cast. Poor thing. He has had some really full on tumbles out of trees etc and barely shed a tear but he was shaking and screaming. I had all 3 boys and the dog. I had to carry DS2 on my back. dS3 was crying in his buggy as the screaming had woken him. DS1 had to take both scooters. Then to add insult to injury the dog did a massive poo on the path which I had to pick up.

Lady nice to see you.

You to Arti. I totally understand what you mean. The pressure to have a perfect holiday is overwhelming. I also completely get the distance from DH. I often feel like that. But like lady said it ebbs and flows.
