Hello ladies, can you believe we will be entering into a 6th year of this thread this year?

Yow jammy that sounds sore. How is he now? Any news?

It is amazing how your instincts take over and you just do what you need to, isnt it ? I remember taking both girls in double buggy and wearing 2 week old DS on my front when they were all ill a s we had to get to chemist. Awful. You are clearly a hero managing all 3 plus pooing dog. Fingers crossed hes ok.

JamInMyWellies · 27/04/2014 15:05

Fractured tibia, unsure on surgery at the moment hopefully not. DH said he is about to be plastered then back to see consultant tom. I assume it cant be that bad if they are letting him home. They have given him morphine though Shock

RTchoke · 27/04/2014 17:23

Aww poor mini Jam. DD2 fractured her tibia 18 months ago. They were also unsure re surgery and sent her home in a temporary plaster for review the next day. She was ok and not really in pain after the first 48 hours. Casts are so light nowadays so that was good but she wasn't allowed to bare weight which was a pain to enforce. I hope mini Jam recovers quickly.

JamInMyWellies · 27/04/2014 17:41

Gosh yes I had forgotten about that Arti. He is fine bossing everyone around. DS1 appears to be his personal slave. Back to fracture clinic on Thursday to have the cast replaced.

Indith · 27/04/2014 19:09

Poor little jammy boy. Bet he will be milking it getting his brother to fetch and carry for ages Grin .

Vagolajahooli · 27/04/2014 19:49

gosh Jammy what a nightmare. Just for future reference with something like that due to pain and in some cases the dangers of moving child who falls, you are well within your rights to call an ambulance. That's what they are there for. Fingers crossed he does need a reduction under anaesthetic. Also with the warmer weather coming up you can get waterproof casts, we had to pay a little extra to get one in Australia but I assume it is covered on the NHS. MrRubes would know more. Poor ickle DS2, isn't weird how they throw themselves around but break something with a simple fall. DS1 broke his arm falling off his very slow moving bike, but on an everyday basis he climbs tall trees, does crazy somersaults & handstands to roll things. No traumas from those things.

The boys are having a backyard camp out tonight, they are on holidays again until the 6th. They had the long weekend for easter and we went back to where we got married which was lovely. Short but lovely. I can highly recommend a vineyard in Tuscany for a holiday. The place we stayed in was a lovely apartment in an oldTuscan farmhouse and was only €189 for three nights! The boys got to do their easter sunday egg rolling competition down a vinyard row. We also saw a hedgehog which I was very excited about as in all my time in Europe I've not seen one.

I know what you mean about the holidays Arti and the DH thing. I feel it often and know he does too. Something that has helped is just getting away together and do something we used to. Whether a weekend away in Amsterdam (not something we used to do before kids but time to play and let our hair down without worrying about getting home), going to a gig or going for a run together.

Speaking of holidays I think we've decided on our last summer holidays in Europe. We are going to drive down to Rome and then catch a boat over to Sicilly. I've always wanted to go there and decided to go out with a bang and get down there. I want to see Stromboli at night and if possible stay a night there. We can hire a car that has a roof tent attached which we are quite excited about. We will take our time to drive there and back. should be fun.

DH has gone to college in Fleetwood until Friday. The bloody plonker has left his phone charger here. He's going to get an address from the college I can send it to.

JustRubes · 28/04/2014 10:15

Struth Jammy! I've screen shotted dh to ask!
Am at gym. Nearly vommed trying to cram workout in as loads to do at home today! Not smart.
Ds doing swimming as part of school curriculum. 4 morns this week. I'm down to help in the pool Wed. Crikey apart from one day at water slides these lily white legs haven't seen outside my jeans since Summer.
Well we move in 3 weeks and still having grief with reference checks. Dear God. No mortgage and now drama over dh contract!! He has a ltd co but they won't even look at that!!
Off to clinic for hernia outpatients thus week. It's disappeared now but dh says I must still go.
All a hassle as I'm not asking mil so school it is!

JustRubes · 28/04/2014 11:38

bugger double bugger. I work on the weekend and just realised nursery is closed Monday!!! Faaaaaaaaaaark.

RTchoke · 28/04/2014 14:48

I've just been surprised by that bank holiday too Rubes! Where is your new house? Do you like it?

How is the patient today Jam? Will he be able to go to school while in his cast?

JustRubes · 28/04/2014 15:05

Urgh. I'm livid. Haven't worked in weeks. This is a requested trip, totally cleared with dh that he could drop off and collect on Monday, and even if I get dd covered somehow, he can't even collect her anyway as he neglected to check if he was on call back when I requested the trip!!!

The house is not far from us now Arti and is nice. I worked hard to get money off but we still have to pay more than we have been. But it's great as it's convenient and only for 12 months or so we predict.

Vagolajahooli · 28/04/2014 21:20

Shit Rubes what are you going to do. It's a holiday here too. I can't believe they are still ref checking. If we had a surgeon apply to rent our property it'd be job done, your in. At the moment we have a couple of allied health professionals. Anyone in health is a no brainier they will always have work.

How's the boy Jam. I take it from the FB photos he didn't need a reduction?

I did an exam yesterday and got 88.5% (yes the .5 is important). Woohoo. I am currently doing a quite crafty assignment where I have to create a story sack including props. So I have to make dolls of the characters and other things in the story. It's hard but fun. However, I am having a small issue with the ideas in my head not really being expressed in the physical relm, how they look in my brain. Unfortunately I only have two weeks until I need to hand it in and one of those weeks the boys are off school. Anyway, just a tip if you want a good book voor de jongens "So-phie Scot t go3s sou th" is awesome. I wrote it weird so we won't come up on searches if it is goodled. It won a bunch if awards and is a brilliant book about a girl who travels to Antarctic on her Dads icebreaker. brilliant.

JamInMyWellies · 28/04/2014 22:26

Well done vag!

Rubes what a fecker. MIL help?

No reduction needed phew. He has a half cast to allow for swelling from toes to upper thigh and back to fracture clinic on Thursday for his proper cast. Pretty sure he is not in much pain just uncomfy. My night so far has gone, DS3 teething up and down 3 times. DS2 mummmmmyyyyy my leg. DS1 cough cough cough cough.

Anyone want to swap? Smile

JustRubes · 29/04/2014 08:57

Urgh. Just lost a post

JustRubes · 29/04/2014 08:58

Dh- "Yes. No such waterproof cast. Well maybe the actual fibreglass is waterproof but the padding isnt and can't get soggy. You can get an inflatable sleeve to put the cast in but its usually only 6 weeks"

JustRubes · 29/04/2014 08:58

Mil in bad books with me but she might have to do. Will explain when I'm free later

Vagolajahooli · 29/04/2014 09:13

Rubes DS1 got one in Australia. it was fibreglass and some other stuff, super light too. We were fine to swim & bath with it and DS1 swam in the pool several times in Australia with it. Is that only for arms?

Vagolajahooli · 29/04/2014 09:18

Please explain I love MIL stories. Yours is a particularlypassive - aggressive one if I remember correctly. I hope it gets sorted though. Where are you flying to on Monday. Will you at least get bank holiday pay?

OP posts:
JustRubes · 29/04/2014 10:01

Dunno vag maybe they are only available in Aust ? I asked dh but he hasn't replied.

You forgot "manipulative" Vag!
Anyway, it was a multitude of things that pissed us off while my brother was here. Also her brother (dh uncle) was over from So Ca and she was trying to control everything. Wouldn't let him visit us for a curry - said she wanted him to stay every night at hers (he wanted to stay one particular night- but couldn't be arsed dealing with her) she stormed off one night at a pub and threw her toys then said she would come that night instead (WITH him) but he wasn't coming any other. Anyway all petty stuff but the night she was there with him at ours we were drinking and she was running around like Mary poppins after the kids putting on a proper show. Bathed them and put them in bed so we could chat to the uncle, anyway on her way out the door she said to me "if you are at a loose end over the next 3 days while your brother is in Paris, you can always bring the kids over to visit at mine" I said (fully intending not to) " ok thanks, I've gotta say I'm quite busy this week though, so unlikely I can make it but I'll let you know"

Next morning, dh and dd: "what time are we going to grandmas today?" me - "we aren't, we have lots of stuff to do here today" (major house referencing disaster was unfolding at that moment and I had to sort it out pronto) ds: massive meltdown, crying screaming dd joining in, "it's not fair mummy, grandma said she has toys for us at her house and you'd you are bringing us over today. You are being mean mummy why won't you take us to grandmas like she said" me "when did she say anything about that" ds: "when she tucked me in she whispered in my ear that you said we can come over tomorrow when uncle A And cousins go to Paris"
So I got right up her on the phone and she said "oh I did say that, guess I better remember that they take things I say literally!! He's 5 FFS!!
Anyway I took them to avoid being the worst mother in the world. Baring in mind it is 1 hour 15 away I was livid.
That is one if many similar occurrences that happen, usually when I'm on a trip.

Am I being unreasonable to be pissed??

JustRubes · 29/04/2014 10:03

Next morning "ds & did" obviously not dh!!! He NEVER wants to go lol

JustRubes · 29/04/2014 10:03

And dd not did!! Ah bloody predictive!!

RTchoke · 29/04/2014 10:19

That's pretty manipulative stuff Rubes. It would make me mad. I often wish my in laws would show some I retest, any interest, in spending time alone with my kids but then I read your posts and think maybe I should be careful watch I wish for.

Have any of you ladies had the Mirena coil? I need contraception and I need lighter periods but I cannot use oestrogen based pills as the triggered my mum's cancer, the GP says Mitena is progesterone based and would solve both my problems but I think I've read bad stuff about it on here. Any experiences?

beans37 · 29/04/2014 13:45

RT, its worth trying even if it doesn't work out. Both my sisters swear by it, but I didn't get on with it at all.

Rubes, that would REALLY piss me off.

I've just finished off leftover roast lamb. Bloody gorgeous.

JamInMyWellies · 29/04/2014 21:40

Poor DS2 has now had to go to the ooh clinic. He has now got a really bad UTI to add to the broken tibia. PLus DS3 had his final set of immunisations today so has gone to bed very grumpily so looking forward to another awesome night. Being a parent sucks sometimes. But thank god for the NHS.

beans37 · 30/04/2014 06:22

Oh Jam. No fun. DDs1&2 would NOT go to sleep last night. Eventually conked out at 9pm. Both going to be horrid today. The dentist told them they have to stop sucking their thumbs. Not happy girls.
C
Meantime, DD3 fell asleep just before 7, which is late for her. And up at 5. Imagine my delight. Got her first swimming class this morning. Can't say I'm excited about getting into a cozzy in public...
