Evening all, stressy day here, poor rat nearly got PTS as it looked as though the infection had spread too far up and so removal of tail/leg was not going to work, but we thought about it and decided to go ahead and see how he copes. He came round after 4hrs surgery and has eaten so fc the worst of the worrying and stress and money bit is over. Thankyou for all the well wishes, I know he's just a rat but £350 in and I might aswell try to fix him, after all he didn't ask for this and he's coping brilliantly so far and is still young so hopefully will be ok :)

Fatima I rarely have a bath, I usually shower, but i'll have one this week and check re: bucket fanny Grin

Isles sometimes I could kick your P for you, with how he can be. I am sure we're all capable of being complete cowbags but there's no excuse for him sometimes, he sounds like he can say some pretty nasty things!

aw eliza hope you're better soon, I really hate being ill and dealing with kids too, i've had a terrible headache the past few evenings and it's brought me to tears several times with erics screeching, I can't help but want to put ear plugs in!

GT That's brilliant with the eating :) E will sometimes eat from a loaded fork/spoon, sometimes won't bother. He generally prefers me to do everything, lazy so and so!

stunt hope you're feeling better soon and hope your dad is ok hope he heals up soon, big hugs

gosh vq have some Brew

you too lily, and PR

The nursery sounds lovely lily pleased you found somewhere you like!

flouncy occ health stuff sounds crap :(

Eeek congratulations donna!!

pp yay, brill stuff :)

great news about your lesson chasing

oh bless you bplp I know what you mean though. About 3 times i have been into erics room and he's very slow to wake up usually but these three occasions I have not seen him breathing, he has not stirred when i open the door loudly and flick the light on and I nearly died each and every time. It is such a scary split second and the thought of it makes me feel weak at the knees and brings tears to my eyes. Bless you, it must've been awful :(

vq that's brilliant re your MIL

stunt that would've scared me witless, it's a good thing you knew what to do with your ds1, I can imagine it playing on your mind even now sometimes

yay eliza that's fab :)

Evilwater · 28/01/2014 21:24

big he Had broken sleep yesterday, and so far he has woken 5 times on account of how he cough.

Evil

BigPigLittlePig · 28/01/2014 21:30

Evil have some Wine and Cake for tonight, and we will put some Brew on for the morning.

MsJJones · 28/01/2014 21:41

BP hugs you poor thing. I always run over things after the event and this was the most extreme possible scenario, even if it passed in a few seconds, so it's not surprising you are affected. For months after L crawled off the bed I kept 'rescuing' him in my sleep which generally involved grabbing DH very suddenly and waking him up. He has been very patient and it's finally tailed off but these moments do stay with you.

applepieinthesky · 28/01/2014 21:43

FIL is developing all kinds of complications because of his diabetes. He has really gone downhill in the last couple of years. Turns out now he has cataracts and has completely lost his vision in one eye Sad He could have an op to sort it but they can't afford it and I don't think there's a lot of point unless he gets his diabetes under control.

My grandad has the same problem and the NHS have said unless he gets his blood sugar under better control they won't operate. Is this because it will be likely to return? Does anyone know?

BigPigLittlePig · 28/01/2014 21:48

Apple it probably is to do with high sugar levels causing slight swelling of various eye bits due to increased fluid retention, along with higher rate of post op infection if sugars are too high.

Am off to bed, have eaten sufficiently piglike amounts of brandy chocolate liqueurs that I should sleep soundly. If the little person allows, that is.

applepieinthesky · 28/01/2014 21:51

Thanks bplp. Hope you have a peaceful night!

GTbaby · 29/01/2014 01:08

Hugs BP. Have has that reply feeling before. Best to let it out.

Lily ill have won the lottery, ill hire a bunch of nannies and assistants to do everything while we lounge by the pool. Wink

Lily311 · 29/01/2014 03:37

gt pls be my best friend. You'd never leave your best quiche friend behind. Just in case.

Insomnia. I might be a tad nervous about going to pick up the court order.

StuntNun · 29/01/2014 07:01

Does he manage his diet Apple? My FIL has diabetes and he insists on still eating biscuits, chocolates, ice cream etc. I think he really believes if he takes his insulin then diet doesn't matter. Whereas the truth is if he had managed his diet properly from the start he probably wouldn't need insulin now. It's tough for the family as all we can do is hope that he won't develop serious complications.

Hope it all goes ok then today lily

PetiteRaleuse · 29/01/2014 08:18

Morning quiche. pig I have had a couple of experiences like that with LO. When I dropped her on her head for a split second I thought there's no way she survived that intact and that split second will stay with me forever.

Then the night her ear drum perforated, I think with hindsight it was the moment it actually happened though I didn't see the gunk til the next morning, she was screaming in pain, suddenly went rigid, then floppy with eyes closed, then while I was trying to remember the number for the ambulance, all the while thinking OMG my baby just died, she just went back to normal, with smiles and everything. All happened in less than 30 seconds but I was convinced she was gone.

Another few seconds I will never forget (needless panic in this case but was a very weird thing to watch happen).

ditsygal · 29/01/2014 08:50

All the talk of scary baby moments makes my blood run cold and my tummy flipflop. So scary. The closest I've come to that moment is when F pulled a cup of tea over himself - I was in the kitchen and he was in the dining room next to it and he screamed and that split second whilst I ran to him and didn't know what had happened I was sure he must have broken his back or something from the blood curdling scream. Horrid.

applepieinthesky · 29/01/2014 09:10

stunt no his diet is atrocious and he can't be told. If anything makes him change his ways hopefully it will be this. There's not a lot you can do for someone who won't help themselves but it's very sad to watch.

Evilwater · 29/01/2014 10:25

Well last night went really well. Slept pretty much all night.
This morning he's has knocked his nose, and made it bleed. I have no idea how he did it as I was up stairs getting his bath ready. He was away from the stairs and near the washing machine which was off.

He's in bed sleeping now, after a gave him a wash.

This is the second fall in a week. Is it to to with the infection?
Evil

Lily311 · 29/01/2014 11:29

I'd say so evil. O has lots of bumps and loses the balance when coming down w ear infection.

Evilwater · 29/01/2014 11:33

Thanks lilly he didn't sleep for long.
Evil

applepieinthesky · 29/01/2014 15:00

very quiet on here lately..

ChasingDaisy · 29/01/2014 15:07

I'm here. Sobbing on the sofa because Oscar is refusing to nap this week, despite being tired. And being up since 3am. I need a break. I really, really need a break.

Sophiathestormfairy · 29/01/2014 15:22

< sits down next to chasing swaps her a cup of tea for a turn with the baby. ( and a tissue)>

Sophiathestormfairy · 29/01/2014 15:26

Just busy trying to make 2014 a year that really really works. I now have something on most days that actually I am really enjoying. This morning I went to the place where I started the new toddler group, to a ladies morning. They run a crèche for an hour while you aerobic. It was ace. Much better than the toddlers I would dread every week which was on a wed morning.

Work put my light out on Tuesday by saying they didn't think my old role would work as a home role. I knew this really but they hadn't heard from hr and my managers manager was AWOL so that is all I was told and that was that. So I have to wait for another teleconference on Friday. Feeling scared about the big wide world. Very scared.

applepieinthesky · 29/01/2014 15:29

Oh chasing you poor thing. I wish I was nearer so I could take him off your hands for a while. Is there nobody that will have him for a few hours so you can catch up on some sleep yourself?

Pikz · 29/01/2014 16:10

Chasing can your dad have him for a few hours or so?

Sophia don't give up... The big wide world isn't so scary. Also you should get some reasoning as to why. I always get made to give reasoning by hr on any decision like that.

Can't remember anything else.

Missing my boy as I'm at work. Time to go home soon :)

Am desperately trying to get my mind away from being pregnant before the wedding... Must stop.

ditsygal · 29/01/2014 16:24

chasing hugs. I wish I lived close to you and I would come and entertain O for a while and bring you tea and chocolate.
Since Christmas F has been the hardest he has ever been I think - screechy in the day and up for hours in the night. I have been at breaking point several times. This week he seems to be coming out of it and is a happier better sleeping baby crosses fingers she hasn't just jinxed it! I think a few of us have found this particular development leap very difficult but there is light at the end of the tunnel - remember 'this too shall pass'.
p.s. is he on 1 or 2 naps? if he is still on 2 maybe its time to drop to 1?

Evilwater · 29/01/2014 16:52

chasing have my last donut, and I wish I could help you out.
