Apologies for the x-posting that meant there's no thread link in the last thread Blush.
I'll start this one and hope people find it.

We tried to give LO the vitamin D drops daily but haven't been the best... Must try harder!

Poor you chickie - hope power is restored soon and that you're all staying warm in the meantime.

Posted on FB about yesterday's horrendous day...so far we've had a decent night - up for 2 feeds but back down straight away so hopefully today will be a better day.

notsoold · 23/12/2013 07:22

Chickie... Take care and keep warm!!! Xx

I have my lovely sil and my not so nice sil today visiting and bracing myself against the never good enough comments.
The not so nice when invited to come during weekend and eat with us plus my relatives visiying from london, said to dh that " surely it is not a good idea because they are Brazilians". Wtf??? Everyone speaks a good standard of English ( apart from dm but she is my mum ). Everyone works in good jobs therefore never claimed benefits! I know we are loud but a nice loud! Like a Mediterranean family! I was so annoyed with the comment! And hurt!!!
My dh told her off but never never am I going to be good enough!:(
And she again mentioned to him that at 54 he was too old to have another baby and at 42 iI should know that....
Ohhhh wellll....
Ladies have a wonderful Christmas , lots of kisses with family and our new babies! What a good year for all of us, eh??? Brand new babies!
Xxx

JellyCurls · 23/12/2013 11:06

chickie hope you get power and heating back soon

notso blow her a big fat raspberry

My plan for today was make the Xmas cheesecake (first ever attempt at one so could be a disaster) and paint my nails a nice Xmas red. What is actually happening is DD has decided to bake cupcakes and there is no talking her out of it and then I have to paint her nails. I will end up an unkempt bedraggled mess again with no pudding for my Xmas dinner. Oh and DH has just text to say he's working tomorrow - so angry

JellyCurls · 23/12/2013 15:42

Christmas curse has struck! Since 2008 we have always had someone in house who's been ill at Xmas including once having DD admitted on Xmas eve. This year it's JellyBabies turn to be sick. He has a crackly mucusy cough and is struggling to eat and sleep. Not ill enough to go to GP so fx he doesn't go downhill tomorrow

FeministInTraining · 23/12/2013 17:48

Glad everything's ok with Legally.

It's me Slippy, completely forgot that there was someone local on here! My HV came 2 weeks ago and never mentioned vit d... She's coming back next month, I might give her a call after Christmas to ask. Glad your interview went well Smile

Good luck to Chick I hope you all stay warm.

FeministInTraining · 23/12/2013 17:49

Sorry to hear jelly baby is poorly, I hope things don't get any worse.

FeministInTraining · 23/12/2013 17:53

Sorry reading backwards. Notso she sounds like a very rude so and so! Horrible that anyone would ever make you feel not good enough. Better off without her being there!

roxvox · 23/12/2013 18:42

Is vitamin D not the injection that they give the LO straight after the birth? Or is that just my area or something that needs to be topped up?

jelly fingers crossed for a better day for Jelly baby tomorrow and that he's much better by Christmas Day xx

roxvox · 23/12/2013 18:43

Oh no, that was Vitamin K wasn't it? Right, I know nothing about vitamin D then...

Flyer747 · 23/12/2013 21:23

Jelly I hope jelly baby improves over night. There's so many bugs and germs around this time of year.

Chickeno I hope your electricity comes back on, what's the weather like over there?

GTbaby · 24/12/2013 01:25

A was not a happy bunny after his injections today. Came home and slept lots. But then had a very bad hour of whinging and crying. After 15min gave calpol. But takes a while to kick in.
Was exhausting. Just had to hold, rock and talk to him until the calpol worked.

Thepurplegiraffe · 24/12/2013 05:11

Is he any better now GT?

Finally got some sleep here after a bad day of no sleep at all for C. Swaddling saved the day as she jerks herself awake.

Slippysnow · 24/12/2013 08:27

rox vitamin d is given to babies in liquid dropper form, but when they are older I think you can get chewable tablets and then the swallowing tablets.
feminist you just take your red book to a big chemist loads are signed up (not a boots or supermarket one) and ask for a free d card. Or google it for more info.
notso she's very rude, poor you. I also saw your post on the bf page hope you've found some solutions.
jelly my mum usually gets ill on Christmas, it's miserable. Hope baby jelly makes a quick recovery in time.
gt hope baby is better this morning. My friends baby had his jabs last Christmas Eve and had a very grumpy baby all day Christmas.
purple c has been waking more recently, glad you have found a solution. I was thinking c's issues were that he was wacking his Moses basket where he has got bigger. also after feeding he was returning to a cold sheet, I personally would hate that so I don't blame him. We put him in his cot and he slept much better... Yay! He looks so tiny but glad he's using it because the matress is very good quality particularly after the crappy foam basket one.

Any breast feeders have any plans for Xmas alcohol that I can copy. I haven't been disciplined enough to pump. Woopsy

Slippysnow · 24/12/2013 10:09

I just read this...

Compare the alcohol content of the breastmilk of a legally intoxicated mama (0.08 BAC) to the alcohol content of orange juice is approximately 0.09% ethanol-by-volume (aka ABV). The legally intoxicated mama will have breastmilk which has an ABV concentration that closely mirrors her BAC, approximately 0.08. That means that mama’s breastmilk when legally intoxicated is less alcoholic than orange juice!

Thepurplegiraffe · 24/12/2013 14:48

Slippy thanks for posting this, I will be telling everybody this Christmas!

GTbaby · 24/12/2013 18:00

Giraffe A was ok rest of the evening yesterday. But was a grouch again this morning. He was quite hot to touch. So calpol which calmed him down and made a nice afternoon nap.

JellyCurls · 24/12/2013 18:59

Waiting on doctor to come out JellyBaby has started wheezing. Not my plan for Xmas eve

GTbaby · 24/12/2013 20:54

Oh no jelly. Big hugs.

chickieno1 · 25/12/2013 04:57

Oh no jelly hope he has improved now xx

JellyCurls · 25/12/2013 09:48

Merry Christmas Ladies & babies x

Doctor sent us to hospital last night as JellyBaby has bronchialitis. We arrived at 8pm and were finally discharged at 1am this morning, doctor said that if it was not Xmas eve she would have admitted us. And to make a perfect night even better, one year to the day since my last visit one, I took my fckn period. In the hospital with nothing with me Angry so now trying to be awake and cook dinner for 11 with a sick baby, 2 hyper kids, killer cramps and 3 hours sleep.

Hope you all have lovely days, thanks for asking after my JellyBaby x

rubytwosday · 25/12/2013 12:07

Merry Christmas everyone! Jelly, I hope you get some time to relax and enjoy and that Jellybaby feels better soon. x
